over the months that they'd been dating, (y/c) had gotten better at reading kaede. they were able to tell what little things made her happy, and what really frustrated her. she'd been trying to hide it over the past few days, but kaede was stressed out of her mind, and (y/c) could tell.

there were auditions for an extremely prestigious concert, and they wanted a group of young instrumentalists, with a violinist, a flutist, and a pianist. there was only one spot, and landing this audition would move her along really well in her career. to her, it felt like everything was riding on this.

so, when (y/c) came home to their apartment from work that day, they heard the exact same song that she'd been playing, day in and day out, from the living room. she was working herself to the edge, and even though (y/c) loved her piano playing, this song was getting old. she wasn't even making mistakes anymore— so why was she still playing? she had to know that she'd be fine, right?
