CHAPTER ONE
The weather was perfect. Why, it had to be, didn't it!
"Welcome to Survivor 62! I'm a new host, I'm Summer!"
"You sound emo."
"I have been told that before-" Summer continued, "but aNYWAYS, who's excited?!"
There's a cheer from every mat, the dark blue mat's cheers clearly being the loudest.
"I BETTER WIN OR YOU'RE ALL GONNA DIE!"
"And what's your name?"
"I'm Aries. And I really wanna win."
"Cool. So does everyone else, little emo. Anyways, Aries, you and the others on the dark blue mat are team Ivo."
"GO IVO!" yelled another girl, "We can win this!"
"I AM PROBABLY GOING TO BREAK MY LEG."
Summer then turned to the middle mat. It was a periwinkle color, and most of the people were.. weirdly silent for some odd reason.
"Okay. You guys are Lune. Probably suits you since your souls are probably dark as night."
They all burst into laughs. Summer was funny! None of them knew her, so they were all kind of nervous. But they had nothing to fear!
"Is it weird that I want a Dr. Pepper right now?" Asked one of the girls on the orange mat.
"No! I do too!"
"I've heard river water is like brown and murky. Forbidden Dr. Pepper?"
"YES-"
"FORBIDDEN DR. PEPPER!"
"I really love this team-"
Summer turned to the final mat, the orange one. They were already talking and seemed friendly with each other. This was certainly the team she'd pick.
"You oranges are Sahara!"
They all laughed and cheered.
"Now, for the reward challenge. You will compete for your flint and other valuable materials. One of the teams will get the materials from winning the challenge, the other two will choose from two puzzles. The one who gets second gets first pick, and the one who gets last gets whatever's left."
The people all nod.
They're led to a challenge where there's several obstacles. They have to pull something heavy out of water, use that to get to shore and dig under a pole, then climb up a wall using teamwork and then finally work on a puzzle. Seemed easy enough—if you were fortunate.
"Survivors ready.. Go!"
And they were off! The Lune team was in the lead so far, followed closely by Ivo, and Sahara pulling up the rear. Lune is almost out of the water already, but the people at the back are starting to get tired of holding the heavy object.
"Come on guys," Aiden says, clearly mad. If they couldn't lift a couple pounds, should they really be on Survivor?
"Oh fuck you," Edan says. He didn't really care about this—he could do it, but seriously? Those are your teammates. Edan was not above human decency.
Meanwhile, Ivo took the lead, as none of them
"Dig," Rosabelle instructed. She was definitely all about teamwork—but she also lowkey wanted this to be over.
Aries made quick work of the pole, with occasional help from Jay, who she kept trying to push away. "I can do it myself, asshole!"
And she could indeed—as they were all able to climb under!
Edan, Aiden, and Reina were all digging for team Lune. A questionable pairing, but one that worked nonetheless.
Meanwhile, Sahara was not done! They were not low on spirit regardless of their last place area.
"C'mon! Let's go," Penelope says, giving the heavy object one last push.
"Woo! We're out," Zachary cheered.
Instead of letting one person, or three, do the work, team Sahara decided to dig altogether—and they were out within minutes.
This made Lune very mad.
"Oh come on," Aiden yelled.
"KEEP DIGGING," Edan and Reina both said at the same time. They didn't need to lose focus right now!
"Hey, wait a minute," said Hailie, "Reina, switch me out."
So Reina did, and Hailie took over. They made quicker work of the pile and were able to get through. Well.. all except Aliana, for some reason.
"What the hell?! I'm stuck," Aliana says.
"Pull!"
And so they all pulled, because how was Aliana of all people stuck under a damn pole?
Luckily, she was able to get herself out just as quickly as she got stuck, and team Lune sprinted to the wall.
"Glad you're out," Reina says, smiling.
"Thanks," Aliana says, mirroring Reina's smile.
Meanwhile, Ivo was struggling up the wall. Aries and Andra were up, and it was quite an interesting pair.
"THERE IS NO WAY YOU'RE THAT TALL AND HAVE NO UPPER BODY STRENGTH."
"It's okay. Just go slow. If you go fast you're just going to hit your face- Or if you don't listen to me- Why do I even bother."
"CAN WE LET SOMEONE ELSE GO?!"
Mercy was up and simply just smiled as she went to help others on team Ivo up.
Grayson, or Taylor made quick work on the wall, with a pull from Mercy as he almost fell.
Sahara was struggling a little more—only Kee was up, her adrenaline CARRYING THIS GODDAMN GAME and making her simply jump up a ten foot wall.
Floressa was up, with not much help from Kee—only some balance stablizing.
Zuko only jumped and just got grabbed by Kee and Floressa.
"I didn't even jump that far."
"Didn't need to."
Lune had finally reached the wall. They had the most people up—Aliana, Edan, and Lily were all up and were making quick work of getting Aiden up.
"Help us," Lily says, when Aiden started to WALK AWAY FROM THEM??? What was he doing?! She was confused, but only slightly so.
"Oh. My bad."
"Thank god..."
Everyone from Ivo was up and running to the puzzle. It was Mercedes, or Mercy, and Andra on the puzzle.
"Do we face it this way?"
"No, because this looks like a six. Agree," Mercy says.
"Ohhhh yeah. I think it's supposed to be '62' for Survivor 62," Andra says.
They were all lucky the two worked well together, with Mercy's voice of reason striking through.
Lune had made some major recovery and was back in second place, it was Lily and Aliana on the puzzle.
"This is probably wrong, but do these two go together," asked Lily.
"Oh yeah! I think that might make the Survivor logo," Aliana says.
"Oh that makes sense," Lily says.
"Good job," Reina yelled.
"HURRY THE HELL UP-"
A 'loud yell' from Rosabelle? But it wasn't for them. It was for Ivo. They're already halfway through their puzzle. How are they so fast?!
Sahara had finally made it to the puzzle.. but it was too late. Ivo had just solved theirs.
"OH MY GOD," Mercy yelled.
"This is unbelievable," Andra muttered in true awe.
"WOOOOO WE WON HAHAHAHA-"
"Aries please calm-"
"Why would I when I have about fifteen energy drinks in my pocket?"
"How the hell?!"
Soon after, Lune finished the challenge.
"Hey it's okay. We'll bounce back, won't we Sahara.."
"Yeah. Plus this is just a reward challenge."
"Alright," said Summer, "Congrats, Ivo, here are your supplies. Lune, your choices are at the island. Sahara, you will get what's left. Your boats are waiting to take you to your islands."
So they all boarded their boats, and eventually, after about 2 hours, they were all at their islands.
"WOOOO- LET'S GO IVOOO-"
"I'm still so impressed we won that," Andra says.
"Just means we get early start on shelter," Jay says.
"Oh yeah! You're right! But did we ask," Aries says.
"Aries please- Let's just go build the shelter. Looks like it might rain soon," Mercy says.
And so they all did, not saying anything. They didn't want to. They were focused on the shelter. They were all tired and breaking sweats, but they didn't care.
Lune had got to their island and picked the challenge of strength. They were arguing because Aiden wanted to do the challenge alone but he wasn't the only strong person on the island—in fact, a lot of people could do four laps around the whole island wearing 20 pound bags. They were fit on Ivo. In the end, Reina and Aliana won and got to do the challenge together.
"God, I hope they're doing okay," Lily says.
"I don't," Aiden grumbled, still mad from the fight.
"Ah great. Just quit it, will ya," Edan says.
"Fine. Sorry."
They all just stared at the sticks they'd already set up in the middle where the flint would help with the fire.
"I feel like there's something we could do right now," Hailie says.
"There's leaves over there. Maybe we could weave them to start on our shelter even though we don't have supplies yet," Edan suggested.
"Good idea," Lily says, grabbing some leaves.
"I'd be open to that," said Aiden, grabbing more leaves.
"Then let's go."
So the four remaining Lune members weaved leaves, talking slightly, just small things like names.
"So what's your favorite color," asked Reina to Aliana.
"Hm. I don't know. I wonder what they're doing up there."
"Well, no yelling, so I assume not fighting," Reina says.
"Maybe they're trying to start a fire. We need it."
"But we're already halfway through the second lap."
"I know, but still."
Sahara was on their island and they were left with the challenge of smarts. They panicked, obviously, they'd never gotten anyone to do the puzzle in that reward challenge! Kee volunteered himself, and Salices said, "Oh, okay fine-" and volunteered themselves as well.
But they were having a disagreement about how many triangles were on the paper.
"No, it's 11 because see, look at this over there and that over there," Kee says.
"Those aren't triangles. It's 9," Salices argued.
"That is a triangle."
"It is not."
"Is."
"Is not."
"Is."
"Is not."
"Okay fine it's getting late let's just get it over with."
The answer board didn't say 9, though. Kee was right. The two in the corner were triangles.
"AW SHIT," Salices yelled.
"No!" Kee screamed.
".. they didn't solve it," Penelope says.
"We really aren't doing to well, are we," Zuko says.
"No, we aren't," Floressa says, "Hopefully we win main challenge?"
"Hopefully," said Zackary.
Ivo had finished their shelter, and to be honest, it looked great. They clearly put all their effort into it, and they could sleep in it without worrying about the rain.
"Wow! This looks like it'll withstand a hurricane," said Rosabelle, with some intense sarcasm.
"Okay, it doesn't look that good.. but it does look pretty good," Taylor admits, ignoring the sarcasm.
"I call the corner," Aries says, "The left one."
"Yooouuuu. You knew I liked the left corner best," Mercy says, putting their hand over her heart in joke betrayal. This caused a laugh from Aries, mainly because Mercy looked like she would die. That was intentional. Mercy was but an expert at acting.
Jay laid in it to test it out, "Looks like it works."
"Well I'd hope so, but still, yay," Rosabelle cheered.
"Oh my god," Aliana says.
"Huh," asks Reina.
"Reina. This is our last lap! We're almost done!"
"HOLY CRAP! I didn't even realize! We have to finish!"
And so they carried on, the two Lune people incredibly determined.
And they saw the end.
And they took their last steps.
They'd done it.
"WOOOO," Reina yells.
"OH MY GOD- OH MY GOD- OH MY GOD-"
"THEY DID IT?!"
"OH MY GOD THEY DID IT."
"YES THEY DID IT!!!"
Lune was celebrating— they had their things! They could finish their shelter!
They worked a little quicker to add to the shelter, so it didn't look like Ivo's, but it would hold up.
Then, it began to rain. Everyone bolted under their shelters.
Sahara didn't have a shelter to bolt to.
"We've gotta make use for this water! Grab your cups," Kee ordered, so they did. Even without a shelter, they were all still determined.
"Rain dance party," asks Zackary.
"ABSOLUTELY-" Zuko yelled.
And so team Sahara was laughing and dancing in the rain, not letting their shelterless selves be stopped. Eventually, they found a tree that was large and could fit all of them under it, and they went to sleep there. It was dry. It was great.
The night was still on each of the islands, all of them were asleep and ready for what tomorrow would bring.
Eventually, morning did come. And it came early for Ivo.
"WOOOOOOOO-" Aries yelled.
"Okay human alarm clock, why would you do that to me-" Mercy says, "Me and my alter ego-"
"More like you and your regular ego. Get up!"
And so they did, and they saw a boat.
"You're kidding. It's like 6am."
"Yeah but your island is three hours away from main, so I gotta take you to the challenge now," said the boat driver.
They all sighed and got in, grumbling about how they just wanted to sleep.
Team Lune was incredibly startled by the boat, having all been in a pretty deep sleep.
"GET UP LUNE THE CHALLENGE IS AT 9! YOU'RE LUCKY YOU LIVE CLOSE! IT'S 7:45!"
"Oh shi—ships," Aliana says, making Reina laugh with the unnecessary censoring.
"I will say it for you- Holy shit why so early," Edan yelled.
"JUST SHUT UP AND GET IN-"
"Damn okay."
Sahara and their boat driver were talking like they were two moms that knew each other in a Walmart—like they'd known each other forever and how is your daughter Nancy and did you ever get that garden club running? Endless. Talking.
Finally, all three teams landed at the main island.
"It's challenge time! Sahara, you're not just competing for immunity, you're competing for your flint and machete!"
"That's a lot of pressure man," said Kee, making this face ☹️. (Genuine quote from Ira in a comment for another AF of mine. Had to include it in here.)
"Oh my god."
The challenge was a big one. Sort of like a triathalon. The first part was in water— they all had to dive underwater and grab one ball, and each ball contained a number that would help unlock a code from a lockbox. This contained pieces of a puzzle that two people could do— and it could NOT be the people that did the reward challenge.
The second part was on land—it was after the puzzle. They had to roll a large ball through a maze—working together and avoiding all wrong paths.
The third part was on a large hill—The shortest part. They just have to get up the hill—but they all had to be up there for it to count as a win.
"Survivors ready—GO!"
"WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN YOU CAN'T SWIM. YOU WERE DOING FINE EARLIER," Aries yelled at Jay.
"I'm tall. The water wasn't. What can I say?"
"Oh my god. I will literally be your human floatie to go to the other side. Come the fuck on or I'm gonna stab you."
And so Jay awkwardly held onto Aries (#HumanFloatie) as Aries angrily splashed to the other side and practically threw Jay onto the finish line.
"There you fucking go," said Aries as she swam underneath the water.
"He can't swim so I just let him stand there," said Edan.
"HE CAN'T SWIM," yelled Lily, "WHAT??"
"Yeah. I think Ivo's got an issue with a swimmer too. Cause someone's awkwardly standing at the finish."
"Just dive and finish it," yelled Aiden, who was chillin' like one of those Barbie Malibu Model dolls.
"YOU'RE NOT EVEN HELPING ASSHOLE!"
Sahara was diving under, focused as hell. Nothing could possibly stop them! They already had their code.
"Wait. Let's try 643892."
The lockbox didn't budge.
"Wait," Kee says, "Try numerical order. 2,3,4,6,8,9."
It opened! They'd found the pieces. It was Floressa and Zachary on the puzzle—against both of their wishes—but their teammates were stressed out.
Finally, Ivo had managed to do the diving and swam quickly to the lockbox.
"986432?"
"No. Not opening."
"Is it the same as Sahara's maybe? Theirs says 234689."
"Not it either. They're all different, I think.. Damn these hosts!"
"Wait, what if it's every other? Like, 293846?"
They tried that code, and it worked! They cheered as they went to their puzzle. It was Aries and Jay on the puzzle—oh boy, there's definitely disagreement there.
Lune was holding up the rear, finally getting themselves in gear finishing the diving challenge. Aiden had been holding onto Lily to get to the finish but Lily couldn't hold Aiden up and was starting to sink. Luckily, Lily was yanked out of the water by Aliana, and Aiden was handed to Edan, who was not pleased by this exchange.
Finally, Floressa and Zachary had finished the puzzle and Sahara went onto the land to complete trial 2– the land challenge. This was quite the intense challenge but they'd manage, pushing the ball with immense teamwork and pressure that there was no way they'd give up. The ball started to move, and they were off—hoping they were in the right spot.
Ivo was still working on the puzzle and even Summer, who was at the goddamn end of the challenge, could hear the screaming match Aries and Jay were having.
"NO, LOOK! You twist it and it goes to the left."
"No, I'M right! Never been wrong before. It switches and goes vertical!"
"They don't get along at all," murmurs Mercy.
"I kinda wanna take their place but can't," Andra said, agreeing.
Finally, Ivo solved the puzzle and moved onto the land challenge.
Lune was still at the lockbox.
"No. It's this code, 293486 is wrong."
"Just try it for the love of shit!"
Of course, they tried it and it .. quite literally unlocked.
"Aliana, Edan, do the puzzle quickly," advised Lily, picking people to do the puzzle.
"Let's do this," said Edan.
Sahara was halfway through the maze—they'd gone the wrong way several times but that meant the right way was closer and closer, right?
Right! They'd seen the way out, they were super, super duper close. They pushed the ball out and sprinted up the hill, incredibly happy.
"I'm about to fall," yells Zuko.
Penelope grabs onto his shoulder to save the fall and they both walk up slower.
"Thanks."
"No problem!"
Finally, they'd all made it up, and distinct sobs were heard from the team as they realized they'd made it, they'd won first! Nobody else was here!
"Congratulations, Sahara! You've won the challenge, you're safe from elimination and you get your materials."
"We did it."
"OH MY GOD-"
"YAY!!"
"GO SAHARA!!"
Ivo was in the start of the maze, arguing: they'd hit a fork in the road and were arguing on whether to go left or right. Chaos ensued.
Mercy was sick of it! Mercy had seen fighting all day and did an aggressive shove to the left.
They were all in shock, and Mercy said, "Well? Are we going to fucking go? I'm sick of your drama."
"Yes ma'am-"
"YES CAPTAIN MERCY-"
Laughing took over and they pushed the ball, spirits lifted.
There is crying on Lune's end. They're finally denting the puzzle, and everyone's so stressed out and screaming at each other.
"Done," Aliana says.
"Finally.."
They run to the land challenge, hoping they could finally get some airway to the challenge.
And they did—Ivo and Lune were neck and neck! They'd seen the ending at the same time.. it was up to the race!
Ivo ran up the hill with such speed you'd think they planned it— and won.
"Congratulations Ivo—you really have never had to work for safety a day in your lives. You're safe from elimination."
Then Summer turned to Lune, who'd just arrived, "Aw, it's Lune! The emos! I was rooting for you guys! Well, you lost, as a punishment for losing I will take your flint. The other materials are still yours, but the flint is mine."
Reina handed over the flint with a grim face.
"Go back to camp."
There seemed to be a darkened aura over the island of Lune. They'd lost. Now they had to decide who to vote.
"Personally, I think we should vote Lilian," said Aiden, right off the bat.
"Why," asked Aliana, "She helped."
"She couldn't carry me."
"Stupidest reason ever," said Edan, "You weigh how much?"
"220 pounds."
"And you're how tall?"
"5'11."
"Lilian, how tall are you?"
"Uh, 5'4. And you can vote me it's okay-"
"No. How much do you weigh?"
"134 pounds.."
"See? Aiden. Do you really expect her to be able to lift you effortlessly? Even in water, you're still so much heavier than her and you'd have to be extremely buff to carry ninety pounds over your body weight effortlessly. You should be grateful she even carried you and didn't leave you to drown."
"I don't like your attitude towards me," Aiden snapped.
"Okay dad, I don't care! You're being so unreasonable!"
"Okay but what has Reina done for us," asks Aliana.
"I did a lot! I unlocked the box!"
"With who's code?"
"The one I suggested! That is the point I am trying to make!"
They were all arguing. Aiden saw no reason to keep Lilian but also didn't like Edan. Edan did not like that attitude and didn't like Aiden in general.
Lilian was confused and attempted to bury herself in the sand the whole time.
Aliana thought Reina should go home, but that wasn't a main vote, turns out it was either Edan or Aiden.
Hailie was just as confused as Lilian was but was on her side—what had she done wrong? She didn't much care for her teammates but even she knew Lily wasn't a very reasonable vote.
Meanwhile, Sahara was trying to start a fire. And also a party. They successfully managed both.
"WOOOO!! I FUCKING LOVE THIS TEAM!!"
"I feel like I wouldn't be happy on the other teams," admits Penelope, "They seem.. Emo."
"Agreed!"
"In their emo era!"
"Go Sahara-"
Ivo's mood was still grim, even though they'd won.
"We almost lost back there," Mercy says, "Why do all of you waste so much time?!"
"What do you mean by that?"
"I mean you guys fight all the time!! You never agree on anything, and we wasted so much time in that maze. We wasted enough time that Lune caught up! Why would you let them do that?!"
"As much as I hate to admit this, the girl is right," Taylor says, "This is literally pointless and we should get in the water and dive for fish I don't know."
"Sounds better than fighting."
"I can't swim."
"Then stay on the beach and make a sand castle."
"I'm too old."
"Sand castles NEVER age," said Mercy, looking fake offended.
"RIGHT! Never age," Aries agreed. For some reason Aries would rather argue about sand castles—never mind, it's Aries, who's surprised?
"I kinda wanna make a sandcastle now," Andra says.
"I'd lowkey help," says Rosabelle.
"Me too," Mercy says.
"Even I'd help," said Aries.
And so they all decided to make a sand castle, laughing and making it bigger and being utterly offended when water tried to ruin it. An unlikely pairing—brought together by a sand castle?
Jay and Taylor were sorta just sitting on the beach, but even they both eventually gave in and helped with the sand castle. Now everyone in Team Ivo is working together better than they ever have—because of a sand castle.
The sun started to set, and so Lune walked grimly to the boat that would take them to their voting island—their possible demise.
By the time they got there, it was night—but still. They all walked in.
"Grab a torch and soak it in fire," Summer asks of them, "Welcome, Lune, to tribal council. In this game, fire represents your life. If your fire gets snuffed—so does your life."
The grim looks on their faces meant they clearly understood this.
"How are we feeling about the loss, team Lune? I didn't expect this from you. I thought you'd work together better than Ivo did. I could hear them at the lockbox from my finish post."
"I feel kinda guilty because things could've gone better if we didn't waste time fighting," said Lilian, "Tensions were high between both teams, but we wasted more time."
"And that is really what it comes down to, isn't it? Which team has the worse tension? It's sad, sometimes, when the game is like that, but you've gotta keep playing."
"I think we all have very different strengths and weaknesses and it divides us," Reina says, "If someone isn't the same as you, you're tended to think strongly toward them in a stressful situation like tonight."
"Right on the money, Reina. People always bring out the worst in stressful situations—it's who controls it the best that wins this game. And with that it is time to vote. Edan, you're up."
They all voted, one by one. Tensions were high, and everyone was shaking. Even those that seemed safe.
Because nobody was really safe. Safety, in this game, is an illusion. They make the rules in a world where you have to follow rules.
"Does anyone have any idols they would like to play?"
A futile question to ask in round one, but they could play an idol, if they'd managed to find one. They're hidden all around the forests, and if you find one, you can play it for safety when you really, really need it. They were valuable—but nobody on Lune had one.
"Alright. Then I will read the votes."
Silence. They're all so scared.
"First vote.. Aiden."
Aiden looked offended.
"Edan. One vote Aiden, one vote Edan."
Edan wasn't phased .
"Aiden. Two votes Aiden, one vote Edan."
Aiden's anger burned. How dare they?!
"Reina. That's one vote Reina, two votes Aiden, one vote Edan."
Reina had an entirely scared.. yet entirely neutral at the same time expression on their face.
"Aliana. That's one vote Aliana, one vote Reina, two votes Aiden, one vote Edan."
Aliana looked confused.
"First eliminated off Survivor 62.. Aiden. That's three votes, and that's enough."
Aiden glared at his teammates, "You're all motherfucking traitors!"
"You realize you did this to yourself," asks Edan, causing everyone to turn around to his seat in the back, "You screamed how Lilian didn't need to be in here when she had to carry you and she's half your size, you can't swim in a swimming challenge and tell everyone else to "hurry up" while you stand there like a Malibu Barbie doll on vacation? This is your fault. Don't deny it."
"Goodbye, assholes," he said, walking to Summer near the door.
"Aiden... the tribe has spoken. It's time for you to go," and with that, Summer snuffed his torch.
And Aiden punched her in the face.
"Oh my god!" Summer said, laughing.
"Summer, are you okay?" yelped a couple voices from Lune.
"I'm fine. Oh god that's definitely never happened before! Lune, pick up your torches and head back to camp. Goodnight!"
The boat ride was dead silent on the way back. The night was still and quiet.
They'd lost a tribe member, and they didn't want to lose another.
Team Ivo had finished their sandcastle and had hit the hay near the water— it didn't look like it was going to rain tonight and they figured, why not protect the sandcastle?
Team Sahara had simply danced until they got tired and laughed themselves to sleep.
All was peaceful, as all were asleep.
1 down, and only 16 to go.
Who knows who'll win this?
Not anyone, that's for damn sure.
A/N: I think I've probably gone insane. 💀
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this chapter!! Please say you did- this is the longest chapter I've ever written and I still think it's short-
Keep in mind, the book length before this was 4 minutes 22 seconds. I wonder how long it'll be after I publish this.
Side note: I love how the wheel just showers Ivo with love like "Ivo my love my grace" like wheel cALM DOWN. PLEASE. 😭
And so the drama begins-
Happy Easter everyone! You may call me insane for spending .. well let's see, I started this at 2:30pm, took a break to play the sims and resumed at 3:17pm, and as I finish this it is now... around 6:50pm! And the fact that I did this on Easter? Yeah. Three hours on EASTER. Sue me, please-
But honestly, it was worth it! I love Survivor! Please let me know if I got any of your characters wrong—I hate when I do that, but I'm also trying my best! Also, tell me if I flat out forgot your character, too! I really tried to include everyone but I totally might've missed someone!
Have a great day, folks!
