kaede had asked maki to go come with her to the mall after school— she'd asked one of her other friends, she'd told the brunette, and they'd said no. kaede acknowledged that maki might not be that into shopping— but they'd make it fun— hang out, and go to the food court and stuff. make an afternoon of it, kaede suggested! maki agreed, and kaede drove the two there after school. but maki couldn't get the persistent thought out of her mind— did she just interpret kaede's offer wrong, or did it definitely sound like a date?

their first stop was a well-known clothing store, where kaede happily pulled maki in, milling around until she found an outfit she liked, going to the changing room to try it on. she came out after two minutes, showing it off to maki.

" harukawa - chan , " kaede began after the other had given her feedback and the pianist had changed back. " you should totally pick something out , too ! i know this place isn't really your style , but i think you'd look cute in something from here ! i can pick something out for you if you'd like ! "

maki looked down at her outfit, sighing. was she really going to go out there and show this to kaede?

the couple had planned a date: going to their favorite stores in the mall and picking out outfits for the other— as well as trying to convince them to buy it. the outfit that had been picked for her, maki would admit, felt very... kaede. and she loved kaede, and loved her style, she really did! it just... was different than her own style. by a lot.

" harukawa - chan ! " the pianist's voice called. " finish up in there , i wanna see !! "
