Carire and Devin Essay
I wrote this when I was bored one time
Total Drama is a show that we all know and like, and Devin and Carrie are two well known characters from Season Seven. Voiced by Kristin Fairlie and Jeff Geddis, here's a lot of information about The Best Friends, aka Carrie and Devin! Some things are creepy, and some things are amazing! So sit back, watch the show, and enjoy!
We are introduced to these two in None Down Eighteen To Go- Part One. This is where we meet Devin and Carrie. They tell us that they have been friends since very young *they met in the sandbox* and haven't spent a day apart ever since. Carrie has liked Devin since he was four and he peed in her turtle pool. She says that is not WHY it started, that's just when it happened. They decide to do a Scares challenge, causing them to have to walk on a roof with violent wind, revealing Devin's fear of heights/falling.
Luckily, they finish quick anyway, and Carrie and Devin are one of six teams on the first flight to Morocco, where the chill zone is. They complete their challenges very quickly and finish in first place. We also figure they're both good with cinnamon because Carrie gets cinnamon lattes and Devin gets them spilled on him, both everyday. 😌
In French is an Eiffel Language, Carrie has to make a caricature of Devin. It's way too realistic, and Devin's mad when she has to start over, claiming she got an A in art the previous semester. The judge shows the drawing and it's Devin alright.. but with 3838383838393983733737.8 million flowers around him and a dreamy look to him. She didn't add enough exaggerations! This is where Devin introduces his girlfriend, Shelley. He says he wants to come back to Paris with Shelley. Ouch. This made Carrie mad. They placed fourth in this episode.
In Mediterranean Homesick Blues, Devin comments on how well Carrie and him work together, and due to a faulty motor they think they are last, even though the Geniuses were actually still on challenge two, unbeknownst to them! They placed fourteenth this episode and cheered because they thought they'd be eliminated this early on.
In episode 5, Bjorken Telephone, where the teams go to Iceland, Carrie reveals her hatred (and twinge of jealousy) for Devin's current girlfriend, Shelley. In this episode, Devin gets stuck in a geyser hole, but luckily Carrie helps him out. They placed seventh in this episode.
In episode 6, not much happened between Carrie and Devin. They placed eleventh and it was Carrie's turn to botch. (And the botch was putting your hand in a glove full of bullet ants. Our condolences to Carrie.)
In Episode 7, Carrie accidentally causes another team conflict on the plane with the Fashion Bloggers. This caused a dispute between the other team, causing them to end up in last. So Carrie technically sabotaged a team into last place! They placed tenth in this episode.
In episode 8, Kitty, a member of the Sisters team, finds out Carrie likes Devin. Carrie proceeds to ask Kitty for love advice, basically allowing Kitty to make her be their wingman in this thing. She tries to confess her love in this episode but fails and also gets friendzoned before confessing! (Ouch. Poor Carrie.) They also got "married" in this episode! Yay! They placed second in this episode.
In episode 9, Hello and Dubai, the two decide to work on a tennis challenge. This ends terribly for poor Carrie and Devin— because Carrie is terrible at tennis! Devin tried to reassure her, but it didn't work. Devin mentioned Shelley's tennis instructor, which made Carrie mad and she refused to hit the ball. *If you ask me, they should have wiped the windows.* Luckily, they finish before the Mother and Daughter team in twelfth place! (Which I'm glad, the mother and daughter team were 🤢).
New Beijinging. Possibly the episode that holds the record for most barf sessions in an episode. Where does most of this barf come from? Carrie. Carrie was dared to eat a worm when she was six, and the challenge was skewering up random, unusual animals to eat, including worms. Carrie throws up whenever Devin even mentions worms. This is because of a dare, when she was six she was dared to eat a worm and as a result threw up for six days. She can't stop throwing up, so Devin does the skewering instead and tries to make Carrie think it's chicken. To our surprise, it works! They progress further and end up placing tenth. Also, Carrie helped Devin face his fear of falling by making sure he was okay in parachuting to the stadium.
In I Love Ridonc and Roll, Carrie compliments Crimson on her real appearance (SHE GOT UNGOTHED DOUBLE GASP??). They finish in ninth place. Slay.
In My Way Or Zimbabwe, Devin makes a silly noise to Carrie, making her laugh. This is where Junior, the youngest competitor at 13 years old, falls in love with Carrie. Junior tries to make his moves multiple times.. failing because of his dad, but learns from Devin she doesn't like younger guys. Junior gets lost and helps the Best Friends on their challenge, making them place fourth!
In Shawshank Ridonc-tion, Carrie finally decides to try and confess again, because the winners get a phone call home, and if they win, Devin wants to call Shelley. This makes Carrie mad. She tries to confess but Devin doesn't listen and they place first, meaning they get the phone call. But when Shelley picks up, he finds out she'd been with the tennis instructor the whole time! Talk about dramatic! So he got dumped over the phone, which poor Carrie felt terrible but also was jumping up and down excited because his terrible girlfriend had finally dumped him.
In Down and Outback, Carrie gets advice for her friend's seven stages of heartbreak, from Spud, one of the Rockers. He gives her the "instrumental version" of his song about the seven stages of heartbreak. (Waste of time.) She gives him a glare and Devin goes through the first stage—denial. They finished in seventh place.
In Māori or Less, Carrie deals with Devin's second stage of heartbreak.. anger. And there's a lot of anger! Devin ends up punching a luggage compartment on the train, and hears pleas to stop, from Carrie, he turns around and looks at her lovingly. This puts our Derrie moments of love at: 1. Devin's anger comes in handy later on though, because their challenge is an angry/scary dance. Devin slays it.. but not following the right instructions, they tell him to start over. Carrie tries to calm him down but it's no use. Luckily, he scared them into letting their team go, putting their team in second place! Woo woo!
In Little Bull On The Prairie, Devin enters his third stage of heartbreak, desperation. He believes that if they win, Shelley will take him back and they'll live happily ever after. (So who's gonna tell him). They finish in third, and Devin gets demoralized because they're behind the Daters. (What a slap to the face!) Carrie cheers him up and he thanks her for being there for him. Aww. ❤️
In Lord Of The Ring Toss, Devin's on another stage. Rock-bottom. Devin's rock bottom is so low, the Goths consider having an alliance with the Best Friends because of how dark Devin's acting is! (Uhm, WOW.) They end up not having one due to Carrie still being happy Carrie. They finish in fifth place.
In Got Venom, Devin's done with the stages. (Devin slays the day). He moves on, and Carrie is very antsy to confess how she feels (AWWWW). They finished in fifth again.
In Dude Buggies, Carrie tries to confess again and again. She is interrupted by Devin, who's solely focused on winning the race now. In the either-or, Devin doesn't listen to Carrie wanting to do the magic show, and decides they should do Buggies. This didn't age well because Carrie has suddenly decided she is going to stand up for herself and they switch to magic shows on Carrie's command! (You go Carrie! Slay the day away.) She actually makes Devin crash so they can switch. Devin is the magician and does the trick the opposite way.. accidentally making CARRIE disappear, not the lion he was supposed to make disappear! In a panic to find her, he realizes that she matters so much to him because he loves her, and that puts him in an even more panicked frenzy! Finally, he brings her back up to the stage, and hurriedly runs to the finish with her. They finished.. in last place. BUT IT'S A NON ELIMINATION! THEY GET TO STAY!! Carrie punches Devin on accident.
In El Bunny Supremo, they figure out they're going to Mexico, which Devin remembered was on Carrie's list of top five places a while back. Carrie's impressed by this. Devin admits he can't stop thinking about Carrie and tries to make her sit on his knees because Stephanie's sitting on Ryan's knees. (🥹❤️) Devin tries to impress Carrie by saying he'd jump off the cliff while she ate the pepper, but Carrie dismissed it, saying she wasn't scared. Big mistake. Devin's violently allergic to peppers, so Carrie had to jump off the highest part of the cliff, because he ate the mildest pepper, with Ryan from the Daters. She holds hands with Ryan to help him jump, and Devin rubs his eyes with his hands in disbelief. This causes him to have pepper juice in his eyes and also causes temporary blindness. Luckily. Ryan from the Daters helps their team cross the carpet because Devin can't see, and they land in fourth place—in a tie with the Daters, of course.
In Ca-Noodling, Devin's sight gets slightly better. He can see now, but it's super blurry and causes them to be delayed in the challenge. Their friendship starts to rift since Carrie thinks Devin is becoming a stranger. Carrie also thinks Devin likes her and asks the Sisters for advice. But when Devin finds a bucket of chum and throws it onto Carrie, she finds it so gross that she pushed the feelings for Devin so far down that they became non-existent. Luckily, Devin's eyesight is cured soon after this challenge is over! When they go into a cave and are scarishly close the entire time, Carrie convinces herself Devin isn't in love with her, while Devin's the one trying to confess. (Oh how the tables have turned). Devin and Carrie find the Don Box and Devin alerts other teams, causing them to be in a foot race to the carpet! Luckily, the surfers are literally amazing and are so hot and let the Best Friends get in front of them, causing them to place second last, unfortunately eliminating the Surfers.
In How Deep Is Your Love, Devin suggests sabotaging the Daters, but Carrie refuses because Ryan is her friend. Her and Ryan being friends makes both Devin and Stephanie mad, and because of this they end up crashing into each other and having a bad way to get to the hole! Carrie and Devin slightly argue about who goes down the hole, and Carrie volunteers to go down. In the hole, Carrie gives her light to Kitty (SHE'S SO SWEET) before getting out and finishing the challenge. They finished in third place.
*He also tried to say "I love you'' multiple times somewhere here, but ended up saying he loved utensils, unibrows "they're hot!".. the list goes on.*
In Darjeel with It, Carrie starts crying because she's upset about how Devin's practically ignoring her. She breaks down to Emma, crying and explaining that she thought she was over him but since he's acting like a stranger, she just wants the old Devin back (LITERALLY SOBBING). Their train car gets separated, and the Police Cadets think Devin did it, causing them to hate that team, which makes Carrie cry more. Devin can't pick the lock on the door, and asks Emma and Kitty if Carrie's okay, and confesses his love for her. To that response, they slap him and tell him she feels the same way. Devin tries to confess a lot this episode, but getting injured a whole lot causes him to fail that task! Carrie carries him (hehe get it) to third place, and now there's no more Daters!
In Last Tango In Buenos Aires, Devin's determined to confess to her in this leg of the race. Literally everyone's like "finally, you've been trying for five episodes". (You also said that three episodes ago, Devin.) He's trying to impress her in the tango challenge.. and failing!! Miserably!! Poor Carrie broke her nose! Carrie takes charge and they pass that challenge, and Carrie pushes Devin's horse in order to finish the challenge fast, and gets slapped by the horse! Ouch! They think they're in last, so Carrie is distraught after completing the challenge, but Devin refuses to take away his chance of confessing to her, so he finally confesses, and they kiss. (I was screaming.) They then realize they actually AREN'T last as the Sisters make it up the hill, so it was a race to the final 3! They put their friendship aside to win. The Best Friends won.. but the sisters ended up staying due to Kitty riding the emu and accidentally pushing Devin off a cliff. Due to this unexpected elimination, they got to bring a team back, and they chose the Surfers.
Carrie and Devin really were a good team, making it in the top three a total of eight times, making their top three probability 33%! That's really high! Carrie and Devin competed in 24 episodes and made a cameo in 25. They placed third four times, and first and second twice. (I think.) Devin was with Shelley for thirteen episodes, heartbroken for six, and in love with Carrie for five. These lovers are still one of the best teams, and they also had some of the best ship moments while participating in the race! I hope you enjoyed my Derrie essay and learned some new (and creepy) things.
