"So, I'm standing there, trying to get by.. and he's all like, 'Oh, who's the new girl in town?' and I'm like 'shut up.' It's me, Dina." Dina explained, stirring the drink she and Syd were sharing.
"Wait, this is Brad-" Syd started, glancing at Lavender, who sat beside her drinking her own milkshake.
"Lewis?" Lavender interrupted, raising an eyebrow. "That fucking jock?"
"Yeah.." Dina sighed dreamily, staring into the cup. Lavender rose her brows, puffing out her cheeks and shaking her head as she and Syd shared a look. "He's sort of sweet.. you know?"
"Isn't he a bully?" Lavender scoffed, leaning back in the booth. Syd's eyes flickered from Dina's eyes down to her lips, causing Lavender to hum to herself.
"And then.. he asked me to homecoming." Dina giggled happily. Syd blinked, her lips turning up in confusion.
"Wait.. and you accepted?" Syd looked over at Lavender, shock and hurt written across her face.
"No.. I told him to take his washboard abs and chiseled jawline and get out of my face." Dina scoffed, "Yeah, of course I said yes."
Lavender choked on her laugh as she and Syd looked at each other, "Shit.. Brad Lewis... Shit, Dina."
"I-I.. uh, oh my god.. you had sex with him, didn't you?" Syd leaned in, "Holy shit!"
Dina laughed nervously, looking out the window and avoiding the gazes of Lavender and Syd. "I-I mean-"
"Fucking, shit, Dina. We can't take you anywhere." Lavender shook her head, laughing. "Seriously?"
"Holy shit! You gave Brad Lewis your v-card?" Dina shushed her, covering her mouth with her hand as she shifted in her seat. "Please tell me you used a condom."
"Yes, of course! I know, I know-"
"He better have or I'm gonna take my doc martens off so I can shove one so far up his ass he chokes on it." Lavender sighed, placing her chin in her hand as she looked out the window. Her back straightened and she swallowed when she saw that Stanley was walking by.
Lavender had a huge crush on Stanley, and she wasn't afraid to admit it either. She'd spend her time shamelessly flirting with him whenever she could.
"So.." Syd trailed off. "Are you guys like.. girlfriend and boyfriend now?"
"I mean.. we haven't put a label on it, yet.. But." Dina shrugged, indicating that they were together.
"Oh.." Syd nodded, pursing her lips and looking into her cup. Lavender sighed, nudging her in reassurance. She knew what it was like to see someone you like like someone else.
She leaned her head on Syd's shoulder, her brown hair falling into her eyes as she shut them.
"I really like him. Just.. give him a chance. Please?" Syd shrugged, playing with the straw awkwardly. "Oh, come on. There has to be someone you sort of like? Just a little."
Syd shrugged awkwardly, her body tensing as she shifted uncomfortably. "Um.. I-I don't know. I just never thought of about it."
"Well, think about it and then maybe we can all go to homecoming together. Like a triple date thing."
"Stanlet would say no to me." Lavender huffed, "He's too busy goo goo eyeing Syd."
Lavender opened her eyes as Bradley slid into the booth beside Dina and planted a kiss on her temple. "Hey, babe."
"Oh, that's good, babe." Dina shifted, grinning as he continued kissing her.
"Hey, Syd, Lavender."
"Hey." Lavender clicked her tongue, raising her head from Syd's shoulders and crossing her arms.
"Bradley." Syd greeted, glancing over at Lavender.
"You think that your mom could hook us up with some burgers? It's just.. they're so great here."
"She's not working today." Syd said through a strained smile. Lavender puffed out her cheeks, looking out the window as the tension grew.
"I was just asking." Bradley smiled at her, a patronizing one.
"You want a burger, Brad? I'll just get you one. I've got some cash." Dina said, pulling the fries closer to them.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah."
"Wanna share one, babe?"
"Yeah." Lavender shifted uncomfortably, watching as Bradley moved out of the booth so she could get out.
"Those were ours." Lavender crossed her arms as she watched Bradley pop a fry in his mouth.
Bradley looked her up and down. "You can share."
"But we paid."
Bradley rolled his eyes, ignoring her. "So.. Dina. She's great, isn't she?"
"Mhm.." Syd hummed. Lavender could feel her anger festering as she looked down at the drink.
Bradley laughed bitterly. "Jesus.. do you ever smile?"
Syd looked up at him, squinting her eyes as she breathed heavily.
"Yes, she does, and it's fucking precious. So shut the fuck up, kapeesh?" Lavender snapped, rolling her eyes. Syd pursed her lips as her cheeks dusted pink. "No one wants to hear your annoying voice anyway."
Bradley glared, closing his hand into a fist. Lavender smirked, raising her eyebrows in a way to dare him to challenge her. "Cat got your tongue?"
"Why, you-"
"So, what'd we decide?" Dina interrupted, grinning as she slid into the booth beside her boyfriend.
"Anything you want, babe." Bradley grinned at his girlfriend, side eyeing Lavender, subtly flipping her off as she scratched the side of his head.
Lavender huffed, "Syd?" She furrowed her eyebrows, watching as Syd stared at Bradley with fire in her eyes. She had never seen Syd look so annoyed before. It was kind of scary. "Syd?"
Lavender gasped as his nose started bleeding. "What the hell?"
"Oh, are you okay?" Dina asked with concern as she pulled napkins from the dispenser and pressing them against his bleeding nose. "Bradley?%
Bradley held the quickly soaking napkins to his nose as he tried to stop the bleeding. "Just.. Just give me a minute."
"Literally what the fuck just happened?" Lavender tried to cover her laugh. "That's.. holy shit, that's a lot of blood. I need to sit.. I need to sit down."
Lavender had never been a fan of blood. Just the thought of it made her feel faint. Syd teased her for it relentlessly, much to Lavender's dismay. But part of her enjoyed the teasing. It felt nice to have friends who actually cared enough to tease her for things for once in her life.
"You are sitting."
Lavender's face paled as she closed her eyes and leaned her head back. "Why is there so much... blood.."
Syd's eyes widened in panic as she stared ahead in shock. "Uh.."
"Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, holy shit." Lavender repeated, shaking her head. "Gross, gross, gross."
"Lavender, calm down." Dina interrupted, "I think it's stopping."
Lavender opened her eyes in relief, her eyes drooping when she glanced at him. "Oh, god, no it's not! I'm sorry.
