November 29th, 1989
Maya laughed loudly as she amd Beverly swayed around Maya's room to the beat of Time after time.
Beverly dipped her gently, giggling as Maya dramatically tipped her head back.
"You're a dork." Beverly giggled, pulling the girl up and spinning her.
"I'm your dork." Maya had a lovesick smile on her face as she spoke, booping the now taller girl's nose. "Always."
Brverly couldn't help but grin at the words I'm yours. It made her heart explode with joy. "And I'm yours. Always."
Beverly slowly pulled Maya in for a soft kiss, both girls smiling into it. Beverly pulled away, concern on her features as she felt something wet hit her cheek.
"I'm gonna miss you so bad." Maya sniffed, raising her hand to wipe away a tear on her face. "Bu-But you'll come back for Christmas, yea-yeah?"
Beverly brought her bottom lip as she pulled Maya into a hug, her heart breaking at the sight of her girlfriend's crying eyes. "Yeah, of course.. I'd never miss a chance to see you, babe."
Beverly slowly pulled Maya over to her bed, laying them both down. Beverly's hands gently weaved through Maya's hair as she stared blankly up at the cieling.
"I love you." Maya mumbled into her chest.
"Mhm." Beverly squeaked, tightening her grip on Maya. "I know, baby. I love you too."

"Hey, princess!" Maya giggled, pulling Beverly in for a kiss. "I missed you so much!"
Beverly smiled briefly, clearing her throat and avoiding Maya's gaze. "It's only been a day, Maya."
Maya shrugged, sliding her arms around Beverly's waist and kissing her again,"Yeah, but still! That's one day too long. Especially since it's been.. what? Four or five months since we've last seen each other? Richie and I missed you at Christmas, by the way. So did Stan, Ben, Bill, Eddie, and Mike, obviously. But of course, I missed you a whole lot more than they did, though, so-"
Beverly shook her head, laughing, "You are too cute."
Maya blushed and looked away. "Thanks, princess. You're cuter.."
"Blushing, I see?" Beverly smiled, gently pushing a piece of hair behind Maya's ear. "Even after five months, huh?"
"Stop!" Maya covered her face, backing up onto the bed. "It's embarrassing.."
Beverly crawled onto Maya smiling down at her, "You're pretty."
Maya giggled, a bright smile appearing on her face. She let her hands slip around Beverly's neck as she pulled the redhead down.
She connected their lips and let her hands tangle into Beverly's hair. Beverly hummed against Maya's pink tinted lips.
Maya wrapped one leg around Beverly's waist, enjoying the moment.
"I love you." Maya muttered as Beverly pulled away.
"I love you, too."
June 21st, 1990
"Good morning, princess." Maya shouted, practically tackling Beverly onto the bed.
Beverly smiled, swallowing thickly as she looked away.
"I missed you!" Maya pulled her into a kiss, wrapping her arms around Beverly.
Beverly awkwardly wrapped her arms around Maya, guilt flooding her as Maya planted kiss after kiss after kiss on her face.
"You look different." Maya noted, pulling gently on a curl from Beverly's head.
"Good, I hope." Beverly smiled briefly, shrugging Maya off.
Maya tried to hide the hurt on her face, but she tried to convince herself that Beverly was just jet lagged.
That wasn't the case. But, only Beverly knew that.
She didn't know how to tell Maya what she'd done.. The stupid mistake she'd made. She didn't even know if she should tell Maya.
After all, it was only one mistake and it wouldn't happen again.
Beverly loved Maya. She knew she did. And Maya loved Beverly.
Beverly. Loved. Maya. That's no secret, the girls were head over heels in love. Anyone with two eyes and any common sense would be able to see that.
Beverly decided not to tell Maya, they'd be okay.
They only had three years left until they could move to San Francisco together.
Then they'd be home free.
The girls would find a way to get married, maybe only in secret, but to them, it'd ge marriage.
They'd own a small apartment together, a cat, a small coffee shop that they'd run together, then one day, when they got tired of the city, they'd move out to the countryside.
Maya talked about how they'd own a small farm, raise chickens, dogs, and they'd have a family Christmas every year.
Maya's dad would fly in and he'd cook a big meal for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Only three more years and they'd be home free. Unfortunately, they wouldn't even last another month.
Niether of the girls knew that yet.
"Uh, ye-yeah.. Yeah, good." Maya sighed out, running a hand through her hair.
"You look good, Maya." Beverly nodded, "Still as beautiful as ever."
Maya blushed, looking away from Beverly.
"And your room changed." Beverly nodded, looking around at the new posters on the wall.
The new pictures on the wall gained her interest, though.
She noted the increase of her and the losers, mostly Richie, Stan, and Bill.
Despite knowing Maya was a lesbian and liked girls, Beverly couldn't help but feel jealous over Richie and Maya's closeness.
"Wait, who.. who is that?" Beverly tilted her head, pointing to a picture of Maya with her arms wrapped around another girl. "Maya, who is that?"
"Oh, shit! I forgot to tell you!" Maya gasped, smacking her hand over her forehead. "Dad went to see one of his old friends and.. that's.. that's Ellie! We met at the park, actually. It was so good to talk to her again, she's changed a lot. She's really cool, you'd like her!"
"Ellie?" Beverly rose an eyebrow, pursing her lips and crossing her arms, "I see."
"Aw, princess.. no need to be jealous." Maya teased, letting her hand brush Beverly's cheek.
Beverly nodded stiffly, looking away.
"Wait, princess, you really don't need to be jealous. Ellie isn't.. Ellie's straight." Maya spoke, running a hand through Beverly's red locks. "You're the only one for me. I love you."
Beverly swallowed thickly, looking away from Maya's loving gaze.
"I know, Maya."
July 31st, 1990
Beverly could feel her heart breaking as she opened the door to Maya's room.
It wasn't just a one time mistake. The "one time mistake" had happened four more times already.
Beverly felt more and more guilty each time she'd see Maya.. and she knew what she should do.
"Beverly!" Maya exclaimed cheerfully, leaping from her bed and into Beverly's arms.
When Beverly didn't respond to Maya's hug, Maya pulled away, concern etched onto her features.
"Princess? What's wr-" Maya asked, letting her hands fall to her side.
"I think we should break up." Beverly interrupted, staring blankly at the wall behind Maya.
"Wait, what?" Maya stumbled back, pain shooting through her heart. "Yo-You're right? Th-This is a jo-joke?"
Beverly looked away, tears forming in the corners of her eye. "I'm not joking, Maya."
Maya's eyes began to well up with tears and pain began to take its grip on her heart. "Wh-Why? Did I.. D-di-did I do som-something? If I.. if I did then-then tell me! And I'll fix it! I promise! I just- I can't.. I can't lose you!"
Beverly stayed silent, her eyes trailing to the floor.
"I'm sorry." She muttered, looking away.
"We were supposed to go to Homecoming together!" Maya cried, "Is.. Oh, god.. Is there someone else?"
Beverly sucked in a harsh breath before giving the heartbroken girl a short nod.
Maya felt like she couldn't breathe as she sunk to the floor. She covered her face with her hands and began to cry harder.
Beverly looked away as she watched her girlfriend, no, her ex-girlfriend cry.
"I'm sorry." Beverly repeated, crossing her arms and looking away.
"I.. Leave." Maya whispered shakily. "Now."
Beverly left the room slowly, pain spreading through her body as she knew that would be the last time they'd ever be together.
Beverly left the house, Maya's cries becoming etched in her memory.
Tears ran down Beverly's face at the thought that those cries were because of her.

Richie held onto Maya tightly as she sobbed.
"It hurts so fucking bad!" She cried, his shirt becoming stained with her tears as she cried. "Richie.. I.."
Richie could feel the anger boiling within him. He was more than pissed at Beverly for hurting Maya like this.
Richie gently pulled her against his chest tighter as she cried. He gently rocked her back and forth as if she were a baby, something calming they would always do for each other.
"I know.. I know, I'm sorry Maya." Richie mumbled comfortingly, pushing the hair from Maya's bloodshot eyes. "You'll be okay. She isn't worth your time, anyway."
Maya began to choke on her sobs as she lost her breath. "Richie.. I-I.. what did I do?"
"You didn't do anything!" Richie shook his head, "You were a good girlfriend, no. No, you know what? You were the perfect fucking girlfriend."
Maya simply sniffed, wrapping her arm tighter around his waist and burying her head further into his chest.
"I just...I-I.." Maya's throat felt dry as she tried to speak, "I want her back so badly! She.. she was the best girlfriend.."
"And I think you deserve better." Richie mumbled, drawing circles on her back to comfort the broken hearted girl. "So much better. Someone who will treat you right and love you how you deserve to be loved."
Maya stayed silent, her eyes trained on a picture of her and Beverly taped to her wall.
Maya sniffled as she shut her eyes, hoping to get some sleep to take away the pain.
"Thanks, Rich.." Maya muttered, pursing her lips as she took in a shaky breath.
"I'll always be here for you, Maya. I love you."
"Love you too.." Maya muttered, feeling her heart clench at the words, remembering all the I love you's she had spoken to Beverly.
Maya hoped the heartbreak would fade quickly, because right now?
Right now, Maya was feeling the worst pain she'd ever felt.
"It'll be okay.." Richie whispered soothingly, tears stinging in his own eyes despite the anger festering in his heart.
"I want the pain to stop." Maya sobbed, "And I-I-I.. I want her back so fucking bad!"
Richie stayes silent, holding the girl closer as she began to cry loudly again.
He didn't know what to do.. He never wanted to see Maya, his very best friend, like this. He couldn't help but let the anger towards Beverly fester up in him as he held the crying girl close.
No matter how hard Maya cried that day, the pain never ceased.
