Lorelei was filled in on the rest of the feast from Augustus. From the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor to the rule that no witch or wizard under the age of 17 could put forth their name for the Triwizard Tournament.

It was now the first day of classes. Lorelei already had Potions and Apparition, and she was now walking through the courtyard to go to her dorm for lunch. She ignored the gaze of students and taunts from Slytherins.

One would think that if they were a Malfoy and a Slytherin that they would be left alone by their own house, but boy was she wrong. She turned a corner to walk down a hall, and clashed into Hermione.

Zoya, Harry, and Ron were also present, all with wide eyes. Hermione gulped as Lorelei tried to pass them silently.

"Excuse me..."

She turned to the four fourth-years, "What." She said in a deadpan voice.

"Thank you. You know, for the..."

"I know." Lorelei cut off.

Hermione shifted on her feet, "We're all sorry for what happened with Hemlock... I owe you."

"You don't owe me anything. You all just better keep your mouth shut about it. I won't save you again." Lorelei said, turning around and walking away from them.

They all stared at her as she walked further away.

"Is it weird I find her comforting?" Ron asked them.

"Yes." Zoya replied as she crossed her arms, "You were just saying a while ago how awful she is!"

"Well I can change how I feel about someone when they save my friend's life! Can't be worse than her father or brother." Ron reasoned, "I still can't believe she actually saved Hermione's life."

"Is it that hard to believe someone wouldn't want me dead, Ronald?"

Ron raised his hands in defense, "I didn't mean it that way!"

The rest of Lorelei's day was relatively uneventful. She was now sitting in her dormitories flipping through a textbook.

She wrote notes down on a piece of parchment, but was quickly snapped out of concentration when she heard yelling and cheering.

She stood up and walked out of her dorm, walking downstairs to the Slytherin common room.

Her eyes widened at the sight of Augustus and the boy who made fun of her in front of the entire school: Grayson Hemlock.

Everyone around them was cheering, even Draco.

Augustus punched Grayson in the face, and Grayson immediately backfired and tackled him to the ground.

Lorelei ran up to them and whipped out her wand and sent a small blast towards the two, which separated them.

"Don't be such a drag, Lorelei." Draco said.

"Shut up." She said to her brother before walking to the two.

Grayson scrambled to his feet and got out his wand, pointing it at Lorelei, "You really wanna try me?!"

She aimed her wand at him, "I think the better question is if you want to try me."

"The two of you don't want to try each other." They heard an all too familiar voice say behind them, "Miss Malfoy and Mister Hemlock, lower your wands."

They kept their eyes on each other, but listened to Professor Snape as he walked to them.

"You three, come with me." He said, turning around dramatically, making his coat flow elegantly.

Lorelei, Augustus, and Grayson all followed Professor Snape out of the common room.

When Lorelei realized she was being taken to Dumbledore's office, she had a feeling she was done for.

Snape grabbed the two boys by their shoulders and shoved them into the office. Lorelei followed them and felt herself shutter under Snape's glare.

Dumbledore stood up from his desk at their sudden entrance, "Severus..."

"These three were fighting in the Slytherin common room. Had I not have broken it up Miss Malfoy probably would have hexed Mister Hemlock..."

The Headmaster looked at the three Slytherins, "In all honestly, Severus, I am a bit surprised you brought three children from your own house to be disciplined..."

Augustus wiped the blood off of his busted lip, "Hemlock won't shut up about what Lorelei did at the Quidditch World Cup. He and his friends were–"

"Silence." Snape snapped at him.

Dumbledore looked at Grayson, "Leave us. I will speak with you first thing tomorrow morning after breakfast."

Grayson huffed and shoved past Lorelei and Augustus, storming out of the room.

"Have a seat." Dumbledore calmly said, sitting back down behind his desk.

The two students listened. Augustus nervously bounced his leg, "Mister Cairo... is there something you wish to share with us?"

He looked at the professor with wide eyes, "I–"

"Spit it out."

Augustus swallowed his fear and quietly spoke, "Over the summer... I was–" He tried to form coherent words, but his mind stopped him.

He looked at Lorelei nervously, silently pleading for her to help him. She took a deep breath and looked at Dumbledore, "Augustus was attacked over the summer by a Werewolf on a full moon."

Dumbledore didn't seemed fazed. He shared a look with Snape and stood up once again, "Let us take a walk." He calmly said.

And so the Headmaster lead the two students outside. Snape trailed behind the three, he was so quiet the two young students forgot he was there.

He lead them to the Whomping Willow, but kept a safe distance. Augustus looked at Dumbledore, "Why are you showing us this?"

"This, the Whomping Willow, was planted for a young student a number of years ago. He was a Lycanthrope, like you. He even taught at this very institution last year as I'm sure you remember, Augustus."

"P-Professor Lupin? It was planted for... him?"

Dumbledore nodded, "Yes. It covered up a passageway to the Shrieking Shack from the school. Many people thought the place to be haunted, but in reality, it is where young Remus Lupin would go when he transformed. As I am sure Mister Cairo knows, the transformation is not exactly comfortable. It was to keep both him and the students safe. This tree was planted out of the idea of a young student who was quite close with Remus Lupin and his friends. Even as a first year, she was strongly gifted with Herbology and eventually Alchemy."

"Where is she now?" Augustus questioned.

Dumbledore sighed, "She died a number of years ago. A shame it was, she was very young. Nonetheless, her idea and contribution helped protect Professor Lupin and the students. She was terribly bright, she was Head Girl for her house and often battled Lily Potter in grades. From my knowledge, those two were quite the duo and would often outsmart most of the Professors."

Lorelei took note of Snape's sharp intake of breath at the name of Lily, but nonetheless ignored it. She looked at the tree, "What was her name?" Lorelei quietly asked.

Dumbledore smiled lightly, "Her full name was quite long, but her friends called her–"

"With all due respect, I am not quite sure what this... girl's story... has to do with Mister Cairo." Snape interjected.

The Headmaster nodded, "Yes Severus, you are correct." He said before turning to Augustus, "I will allow you to continue to study at Hogwarts. Professor Snape will make you up a Wolfsbane Potion to protect you and yourself. You shall go to the Shrieking Shack during the full moon. You should not be of harm, but keeping you there is merely a precaution. I want you to stay here, Mister Cairo. It is not your fault that such a thing has happened. I ask that you keep it to yourself, though. The entire school knowing might not be the best thing at the moment."

"I understand."

"Mister Cairo I will make this potion but I will not do all of the work myself. You need to learn how to properly make the potion on your own, you will not be here forever. Now, based on your last scores in Potions from previous years, making this particularly difficult brew will not come easy to you."

Augustus turned to Snape, "I made it this past Summer."

"You still tried to attack me." Lorelei said.

Her friend sighed, "Yeah, I'm aware, Lorelei. H-How will I explain my absence to people?"

"From what I have observed, the only friend you have at this school is Lorelei. I don't think people will notice nor care if you're gone." Snape said to him.

Augustus shortly nodded, "Didn't need to say it out loud." He quietly mumbled before turning to Dumbledore, "Thank you, sir. I know you don't have to help me and I honestly wasn't expecting this reaction so... I guess all I can say is... I appreciate it."

He nodded before looking up at the sky, "Oh, it is getting late. Best if you head off to bed. We will have a full Moon soon. I suggest you get all the rest you can."

Augustus and Lorelei walked back inside together in silence. Both of them were surprised at the reaction of Dumbledore and Snape, but nonetheless relieved that things didn't go south.

They walked passed the library and Lorelei paused, "I actually have to pick up a book for a class. I'll meet you back at the common room."

Augustus nodded and continued to walk down the hall alone. She walked into the library, which was mostly empty. The students didn't quite have to be in their dormitories yet, but the majority of them opted not to spend a late night in the library. She walked down various rows of books, looking at each one.

Lorelei didn't actually need a book, it had just been a few years since she stepped foot in the place she would often hide out in. She ran her fingers over the spine of a red book, "Fancy seeing you here."

She turned her head to see that familiar Hufflepuff. Cedric Diggory.

Cedric was sitting alone at the end of the row at a table by a window. He had a soft smile on his face as he held his quill carefully in his hand. She turned away and continued to look at the books, "What do you want?"

She heard him smirk, "I was here first. I think the better question is what are you doing here?"

"Just wanted to see the library. It's been a few years."

He shifted so that he was fully facing her in his seat, "You've been studying abroad every year, right?" He asked. When she nodded, he continued, "What's the longest you've spent here?"

"About two weeks."

"Do you wish you got to study here?"

Lorelei shrugged, finally turning to him, "I don't know... I don't exactly know what it's like to study here. Can't really compare the two quite yet."

"I think you'll like it here." Cedric kindly said. She gave him a small smile and turned from him, beginning to walk away. He quickly stood up from his chair and softly put his hand on her upper arm, "Lorelei..."

She turned to him and he quickly removed his arm. She took note of how close he was to her, but said nothing, "I just... I'm sorry about what happened with Hemlock. I haven't stopped thinking about the Quidditch Cup and that you took a killing curse for me. I-I need to make it up to you, please."

"You can make it up by not speaking of it. My father was angry with me for what I did and I would like to forget what happened. Good night, Cedric." She said quietly, walking away from him out of the library.
