collapse
Envy's eyes fluttered open, but he immediately closed it again. It was too bright, and his head felt like someone was hitting it with a sledgehammer from the inside AND the outside. He moved his hand to cover his eyes, wanting to sleep in, when suddenly he remembered he's got an exam today—history, too, the teacher hates him—he's going to fail if he doesn't come in, and he does not want to fail.
He forced himself up when he realised there's a stabbing pain behind his eyes and under them.
Oh, God, this must be sinusitis.
Nevertheless, he slid down his bed, took a bath and brushed his teeth, then got dressed. Because of his pounding head (and he was pretty sure he had a fever) he got his buttons buttoned on wrong, which made him had to repeat that.
Finally, he finished getting dressed. As he walked outside, Kindness greeted him with her usual light-hearted voice. "Good morning!" she said with a smile.
Envy forced a smile and answered, "Good morning."
She frowned and tilted her head. "Your voice sounds weird. Are you okay?"
Rion observed him. "You're sick." he stated.
"It's just a cold, I'll be fine!" Envy said, half to Rion and half to his mom.
"You shouldn't push yourself too far," Rion's mom said, walking closer. "You look ready to collapse."
Envy did feel ready to collapse. "I'm not on the verge of fainting—And I have a test today, ma'am," he hurriedly said, not wanting anyone to know he's a walking furnace.
Rion's mom stopped and nodded understandingly.
