"And then the Glorbanog came and possessed m-"

"Okay, Syd." Stanley tossed his lunch onto the table, greeting Primrose as he did so. "Whitaker's got nothing on us, so don't sweat it, all right? Which is why I'm telling you, you should just go to this dance.. right? We could all do something after, me and Prim are gonna get dinner first, but we'll probably be hungry after, right?"

"Right!" Primrose confirmed with a nod, "You can hang with us after the dance!"

"Like a movie!" Stanley suggested.

"I love the movies so much.. so many memories.." Primrose sighed dreamily, leaning her head on Stanley's shoulder and pulling out her coin to mindlessly toss it into the air. "Oh! Or we can go to the ice skating rink.. Tails.. It's tails."

"I mean, I'm down for anything." Stanley sent the girl a subtle wink, causing her face to redden as she giggled nervously. "Or we could just have fun, do the funky chicken, drink some punch.. Just have fun with it! Give it a big proper go!"

Sydney turned her head, making eye contact with Bradley Lewis as he passed by.  "Oh, sorry, what?"

"Um.." Stanley stammered, "Homecoming, this weekend? Prim and I wan-"

"Oh, I don't know, guys.. I've got a lot of shit on my mind." Sydney said awkwardly.

"Yeah, okay, so.. you won't go.. But, I mean, me and Prim are gonna go to homecoming, but we could totally do something after." Stanley repeated.

"Like?" Sydney raised her eyebrows, waiting for Stanley's suggestions.

"Like.." Stanley trailed off, pursing his lips. "We could test your powers again?"

Sydney blinked, "Oh, no, let's definitely do that! Cause that went so great."

"It could have gone better.. but no one's dead!" Primrose pointed out.

"Lucky them." Sydney deadpanned.

"Well, I-I'm just thinking.. It might help you feel a little.."

"Feel what?" Sydney pressed.

"A little more.. in control." Stanley explained, taking a fry from Primrose's tray, "Like if you maybe wanted to feel like you could defend yourself if some creepy guy really is following you."

"Oh, just when I thought I couldn't be any more paranoid." Sydney clapped sarcastically, "Stanley Barber, ladies and gentlemen!"

Primrose frowned, lifting her head from Stanley's shoulder. "You're being mean.."

Stanley scoffed, slowly shaking his head. "What is with you today? I mean, I'm.. we're both used to you being a dick, but this is like a whole new level."

"What is with me is I have bigger shit to worry about than hurting either of your fucking feelings!" Sydney snapped, clasping her hand over the milk carton as it began shaking.

Stanley pursued his lips, "Right. Then we'll just have fun at the dance without you?"

"Stan, I do not care!"

"You-You don't care.. at all?" Stanley narrowed his eyes.

"Nope."

"Then you won't mind if Primrose and I spend the entire time together? Ignoring you?"

"I want you to." Sydney rolled her eyes.

"Fine." Stanley stood up from the bench,  "Come on, Prim."

"Huh?" Primrose hummed, tearing her eyes from the window.

"Let's go.." He repeated, extending his hand to her.

"Oh, okay." Primrose slipped her hand into his, interlocking their fingers.  "Here, my dear Sydney. You can have my brownie.. There's no weed in this one. Hope it makes you feel less.. mean and angry."

"Prim, I-" Sydney's sentence was cut short as Stanley glared at her, pulling the girl with him to where Dina and her other friends sat.

~~

"If I was a bird I'd be.. I'd be a humming bird." Primrose sighed dreamily, casting her eyes on the birds flying away from the powerline. "What do you think it's like.. being a bird? To be able to go wherever you want, whenever you want.. Without a care in the world.. I think humans should be more like birds. We worry too much for our own good.. If we were all just a little happier.. a little more care free, like the birds, maybe the world would be a better place. We should be like birds."

As she spoke, a small smile rested against her face as she drummed her fingers to the beat of the music.

"You're so beautiful.." Stanley said breathlessly as he glanced over at her. Stanley swallowed as the sunlight cased a warm glow on her face, only perfecting what was already perfection.

Primrose grinned, her the apples of her cheeks reddening as she looked down at her hands in her lap. "Thank-Thank you.. Hey, why are we at the coffee shop?"

"We-Well, you said you wanted coffee yesterday.. and then we ended up not getting coffee." Stanley explained, turning the ignition off. "So.. here we are!"

Primrose smiled, leaning forward and pressing a kiss against his cheek. "Thanks! You can come over after and see Popsicle and Fudgesicle! Santa, too.. but he's busy sleeping.. And Harold 2.0.. I think Harold 2.0 is a girl, though.. Do you think she'd want a different name? I think everyone would like the name Harold 2.0.. It's a very good name.. What do you think?"

"It's a perfect name." Stanley agreed, raising his hand in an ok formation. "Oh, shit.. is that your dad's cop car?"

Primrose hummed, examining the numbers on the side. "No, my handsome Stanley.. That's not my dad's.. He's at home with my mom."

Stanley sighed in relief, "Oh, good. I don't think I'd be able to face him on such.. such short notice."

"Oh, my handsome Stanley. He already knows about you." Primrose admitted, shrugging as she smoothed out the fabric of her shirt.

"You talkin' to your dad about me?" Stanley teased, licking his teeth as he crossed his arms and leaned back on the seat.

Primrose grinned ignoring his question and opening the car door before stepping out. She turned her eyes towards the sky, counting the birds she saw sitting in the tree. "Ariana Birdie, Miley Sqaukrus.. Selena Flymez-"

"You comin, Prim?" Stanley's voice broke her from her trance on the birds in the trees. She nodded excitedly, jumping over the concrete parking stopper as lacing her fingers with his.

"Do you think coffee can feel pain?"

~~

Primrose danced around her room, shouting the lyrics to the song as Stanley watched her, a love sick expression on his face.

"Come on, my handsome Stanley! Dance with me!" Stanley nodded readily as he stood from the bed, causing Santa to jump off and dart out of the cracked door.

Primrose leaned into Stanley's touch as he slipped his arms around her waist, swaying to the beat of the music.

He twirled her around, laughing loudly as her hair whipped her in the face. She barely even flinched as she pulled back from his arms, interlacing their fingers as she spread her arms out, "I guess you say.. what can make me feel this way?"

"My girl!" Stanley sang, pulling one hand away and pointing at her, "My girl! My girl! My girl!"

"Talkin' 'bout.. my girl!" Primrose sang, leaning back as Stanley twirled her around again.

"I love eighties music!" He said, causing Primrose to stop and give him a look.

"This is from the sixties!" She laughed, reaching up and running a hand through his hair.

"O-Oh.." Stanley mumbled, laughing nervously. "I knew that."

Primrose gasped suddenly, pressing both her hands against his chest. Her grin brightened as she felt his heart beating against her hand. "Maybe this could be our song!"

"Our song?" Stanley whispered, raising his hands and resting them on top hers.

"Our song.."

Stanley blinked slowly, pulling his lip in between his teeth. "How did I get so lucky?"

Primrose tilted her head as the opening beats to Take On Me began to play. "What do you mean?"

"How did I get so lucky?" Stanley repeated, "To have you in my life.."

Primrose blushed, raising her hand to rest on his shoulder, "Lady Tyche really was looking out for me when it came to you. I'm luckier."
