"Can you believe some people are already asking dates to homecoming?" Stan tapped his finger against the steering wheel as he looked over at Syd.
Primrose shrugged, "Oh, sweet Stanley.. I think it's lovely."
"I think it's stupid. It's so far away." Syd scoffed, shaking her head.
"Oh, dear Sydney." Primrose sighed, leaning her head on the window of the car. "It'll be here faster than you think. After all, life flashes by in the blink of an eye.
"Um.." Syd turned her body back to look at her. "Wha-"
"Heh, uh, yeah. Totally. Super far.." Stan cleared his throat, glancing at Primrose through the mirror. "Like.. uh, like a whole week."
"Time is an illusion, my handsome Stanley." Primrose leaned forward, poking her head between the two front seats. "We've gotta make the most of it before we're old.. or before the Glorbanogs get us all and feast on us."
Stanley chuckled, "Gotta watch out for those Glorbanogs."
Primrose giggled, tapping her finger against the leather of her boots. "See? He gets it!"
Syd sighed, closing her eyes as she leaned her head back. "Stanley, please."
"My dear Sydney, he's had his eyes opened to the dangers of the Glorbanog. They're going to come for us eventually."
Primrose pulled the coin from her pocket and began mindlessly flipping it, calling out heads or tails with each flip. She leaned her cheek on the head of Stanley's seat as she quietly sang along with the song playing on the radio.
"Did you keep the coin?" She asked, brushing her hair out of her eyes.
"Uh, of course! It's in my pocket." Stanley said, patting the front pocket of his shirt.
"Seriously?" Syd turned to look at him. "Don't tell me she's already influenced you-"
Stanley shrugged, "I told her I'd keep it forever, so I will."
"Good. Because it's my lucky coin.. and now it's your lucky coin. Lady Tyche has blessed me so well, and I'm hoping now she'll bless you." Primrose explained quietly, flipping the coin and catching it mid air.
Stanley blushed, chuckling nervously as he turned the car into the school's parking lot. "Well, our chariot has arrived."

"Do you have to spray them like that?" Primrose asked, twirling a pencil in between her fingers.
He nodded, "Gotta keep them fresh."
Primrose nodded to herself, turning her head and waving at the person who entered. "Oh, sweet Sydney!"
"Hey, I need your car." Syd said, greeting Primrose with a salute as she focused her eyes on Stanley.
"Oh, hey, Syd." Stanley grinned, putting the can down.
"Not for long. Just, like, you know, an hour."
"Are you kidding?" Stanley leaned in chuckling, resting his elbows on the counter. "My dad would murder me. He doesn't even know I drive that piece of shit around."
"I think it's nifty." Primrose interrupted, looking down at the coin in her hand. "Heads.. Knew it."
"Do you even have a license?" Stanley pursed his lips.
Syd shifted uncomfortably, scoffing. "Of course I do."
"Okay. Let me see it." Syd's eyes widened in panic.
"She's working on it." Primrose answered for her.
"Ah, forget it."
"What? Ah, no, no, no. Wait, wait, wait!" Stanley chased after her, accidentally knocking Primrose over. "Oh, sorry."
"It's okay, I can see the ceiling now." Primrose sighed dreamily as she trailed her eyes over the design of the cieling. "Oh-"
"It's fine, It's fine. I got this." Stanley offered, pulling Primrose up beside him. "But I'm driving."
Syd examined his face briefly before turning on her heel and walking out quickly. Primrose straightened her back and followed her out quickly. "Uh, Gladys, I'm gonna take twenty!"
Primrose stared at the trees as they sped by through the windows. "Do you think trees can feel things?"
"What?"
"Like, emotions.. I think trees can.. and that's why I love them so much. You see, trees really aren't much different from us, when you think about it." Primrose sighed, pressing her hand against Stanley's window. "We're all connected when we go down to the roots, and I think that's beautiful. I think that's why we have such a strong connection with certain people too."
Syd and Stanley shared a look as Primrose pulled her hand away from the window and reached into her pocket to pull out the coin. "Maybe we have soulmates because our souls were together before our bodies were on earth, like, in the soul realm. Maybe that's why we long for someone we've never met before. Because we have met them. Our souls have."
"I like the way you think, Primrose. It's refreshing." Stanley smiled to himself, catching quick glances at her from the mirror.
"I think you have a beautiful soul, my handsome Stanley." Primrose flipped the coin, catching it in her hand as she turned to look at Syd. "You do too, my dear Sydney. Even if you don't see it yet. I love your soul."
Sydney cracked a smile, leaning her head on her hand. "Thanks, Prim."
Primrose nodded to herself, moving her head to the song stuck in her head as silence over took them. Stanley inhaled sharply as he looked over at the tower. "Hey, do you, um, do you see that tower over there?"
Primrose peered out the window, nodding to herself. "Yeah."
"It's been there since, uh.. since 1890-something. Story goes that a hundred men died building it." He said.
"There's no way it took one hundred men to build that piece of shit." Syd scoffed, "Right, Prim?"
"I love that tower, though.. So peaceful." Primrose closed her eyes, humming the tune of I think we're alone now. "I feel close to Gaea.. She's the earth itself, in a way."
"That's cool, tell me more later." Stanley winked at her. "And, anyways, it was probably more like.. five, but my great-great-great granddad was one of them. He was not great.. Well, now that I think about it. Every Barber male tends to be a shithead. I guess it's up to me to redeem the good ol' family name."
"I think you already have, my sweet Stanley. Your soul is enough to make up for all the others." Primrose smiled softly, smoothing out the fabric of her knitted sweater as she leaned her head against the window.
"I've never seen your dad.. Like, ever." Syd looked back at Primrose, silently asking if she had.
"He drives an 18-wheeler, like, twenty-five days a month."
"Cool."
"Yeah.." Stanley's voice trailed off, causing Primrose's heart to ache. He had told her about his dad when she helped him clean up the bowling alley this afternoon. "My life's way better when he's not around. Wish he'd just stay gone, y'know?"
Primrose cringed, looking at Syd's face, awaiting a reaction. Stanley's eyes widened when the realization hit him, "Oh, I didn't.. I-I didn't mean to like.. to-"
"It doesn't bother me." Syd cut him off bitterly. An awkward silence fell over them as Stanley came to a stop. Primrose knitted her eyebrows together, looking up at the building. "This isn't the grocery store?"
"Sorry, I just need to drop something off real quick." Stanley quickly unbuckled himself and got out of the car.
"What's he doing?"
"He's changing the world, dear Sydney. He's changing the world." Primrose sighed to herself as she leaned her head against the window. "Tails."
Syd shook her head, watching as Stanley jogged across the street and opened his car door. Primrose drummed her fingers agaisnt the seat as Syd watched him with an odd expression. "What are you.. like a drug dealer or something?"
Stanley shrugged. "I have clients."
"That's nifty, you must make a lot of money. You're going to make a lot more with that lucky coin."
"Shit! How many?" Syd asked.
"Four.. and one of them's my cousin.." Stanley explained quietly, causing a giggle to slip past Primrose's glossed lips.
"I change my observation.. You're going to gain clients with that coin."
