"Oh, I thought we were screwed!" Stanley sighed happily, kissing the small usb and raising it in front of his eyes to block the light out.
"We were screwed, but holy shit, we did it." Dina laughed, resting her hand on her knee.
"Thank you, guys." Sydney smiled, glancing over at Primrose, who sat im between Dina and Stanley. "Seriously."
"Anything for you, my dear Sydney." Primrose grinned at her as Stanley reached into his pocket and pulled out a small metal container.
He raised up the joint, looking over at Primrose, "Any takers?"
"Yes." Primrose said, "I felt like I was floating on the prettiest cloud when I was high."
Primrose sighed dreamily, raising her hands in front of her face and waving them around as she leaned her head on Stanley's shoulder.
"You can't be serious." Dina deadpanned.
"Oh, yeah." Stanley confirmed, raising the joint to his lips. Dina looked back and forth down the hallway as Stanley covered the flame with his hand, inhaling before handing it to Primrose beside him.
"Since when do either of you smoke weed?" Dina asked after Primrose handed the joint to Sydney. "Isn't your dad a cop?"
"Yes, he is, my lovely Dina." Primrose nodded, closing her eyes.
"Oh, come on, Dina.." Sidney cooed, "Everyone's doing it. Don't you wanna be cool like me, Prim and Stan?"
Dina giggled, leaning over at taking the joint from Sydney's hands. Primrose bit her lip, blinking slowly as the taller girl raised the blunt to her lips. "Do it, do it, do it, do it-"
Dina snorted as the group erupted into laughter. "She did it!"
~~
"My handsome Stanley.." Primrose sighed dreamily, dragging her finger through his hair. "You're.. you're really pretty, you know that?"
Stanley chuckled, nervously fidgetting with the rubik's cube, his cheeks reddening as she twirled his hair in between her fingers and continued to mumble compliments. "No, you ar-"
The sound of a door being thrown open, followed by angry stomping cut him off. "Babe, wait! Please! Syd's lying, I swear to God. Please. She's lying! You're not seriously breaking up with me right now!"
Dina ignored him, stepping past Mr. Whitaker as she left rhe gym. The man huffed, "Hey! Which one of you punks eats burritos?"
Primrose inhaled sharply, pulling her hand from Stanley's hair as she turned to look at him.
"All right, I don't know what the hell went on tonight, but I wanna see every one in my office first thing in the morning!" The man huffed, glaring at each student before leaving the gym.
Bradley turned around, glaring at Sydney as his breathing grew heavy. "I offered you a truce and you fucked it up. This? This is on you. You remember that."
Primrose hummed, watching as Bradley left the gym. "Bitch.."
"Ah, another day in paradise." Jenny said sarcastically, "So, you guys wanna get wasted?"
Sydney shot her a look, slowly shaking her head. Jenny shrugged, turning her attention to Primrose, "What about you, weirdo?"
"I'm not a freaking weirdo!" Primrose snapped, causing Jenny to shrug and leave the gym.
~~
Primrose sighed dreamily, extending her arms beside her as the warm sun gently kissed her face. She quietly sang to herself as the breeze blew her hair behind her, "My handsome Stanley, would you mind dropping me off at my lovely, humble abode?"
"Why, of course, m'lady." Stanley pretended to tip his hat as he opened the car door.
"Thank you so much, you're far too kind!" Primrose grinned as he closed her car door and got into the driver's seat.
"Okay, so now that we've helped you steal the evidence that would put you in detention for a thousand years, can you tell us what happened in the library?" Stanley asked awkwardly, gripping the steering wheel.
"No.." Sydney shook her head quickly, "No, you'll think I'm crazy."
"Hey, I'm supposed to be the crazy one here." Primrose joked, leaning forward and nudging her shoulder, "You're not crazy, my dear Sydney.. and we won't think you are."
"And to be fair, we have seen you move shit with your mind.. so crazy feels like a few notches down." Stanley tried to comfort the girl, "You can tell us anything.. You know that, right?"
Sydney inhaled sharply, glancing back at Primrose and slowly nodding her head. "The lights were flickering, but it wasn't me. I-I don't know.. it-it just felt like someone else was in there with me."
"Well, what do you mean?"
"I mean.. it felt like I was supposed to follow it.. or maybe it was following me.. I don't know, I just couldn't make it out. I turned a corner, and it was gone! But there was this feeling, guys. I swear I wasn't alone." Sydney fidgeted with her hands as she spoke.
"So, who the hell was it?"
"Maybe it was a spirit guide.. but the bad kind.. I forget the word." Primrose hummed, "It's not a demon.."
"I wish I fucking knew who.. or-or what it was! But I don't! And it's gonna drive me crazy!"
"We'll figure this out, my dear Sydney. We will. I can feel it."
~~
"I want coffee." Primrose sighed, blinking tiredly as she watched the screen play the video for the thousandth time.
"It's eight pm.." Stanley pointed out.
"Time is but an illusion, my handsome Stanley." Primrose sighed dreamily, lifting her head from his shoulder.
"Okay, then we'll get coffee after." Stanley smiled kindly at her.
"Rea-"
"There! There! Freeze it there." Sydney exclaimed, straightening her back and pointing at the screen. Stanley reached forward, pressing the space bar. "Yeah? You see? What is that?"
"Um.." Stanley turned his rubik's cube, solving the red side.
"Well, can you zoom in? Enhance?" Sydney offered, raking a hand through her hair.
Stanley sighed, leaning his elbows on his knees, "Enhance? What kind of fucking operation do you think I'm running here? That just looks like your shadow.."
"Maybe it really is a spirit guide.." Primrose hummed stretching her back out and unpausing the video.
"Woah.." Primrose murmured as the bookshelves and books crashed to the floor around Sydney in the video.
"That's so cool." Stanley agreed.
"It's so not cool! It is massively screwed up!" Sydney's voice began to grow angry as Stanley continued flipping through the rubik's cube. "Can you stop doing that?"
Stanley inhaled sharply, handing the rubik's cube to Primrose. "Sorry.."
Sydney began angrily mumbling under her breath as Stanley anxiously played with his hair. "So, uh, you wanna watch it again.. or-"
"We've watched it, like, a million fucking times!" Sydney cut him off.
"Okay, and we're just missing this fucker.. I-I mean, I know it, he's in there!" Stanley tried to sound supportive.
"But what if he isn't?" Sydney snapped, laughing bitterly, "Then I'm just completely insane, huh?"
"You're not insane." Primrose pressed.
"And if you honestly believe that someone was there, and they straight up fuckin' disappeared, then, I believe it too."
"Then what if it is true? You know, and that means someone's been watching me. Uh, and you know, that means, that, uh, you know, maybe-"
"Someone else knows." Stanley said, causing the girl to erupt into a panic.
"I-I've.. I've gotta go." Sydney stood up quickly, "I'll, uh, we can deal with this again tomorrow? Okay, um, bye."
"Syd, wait!" Stanley tried, but she had already disappeared up the stairs.
"She'll be okay, my handsome Stanley. We all will. I know it." Primrose slipped her hand into his, sending him a comforting smile.
"How are you so optimistic.. all the time?" Stanley asked slowly, tearing his eyes from the staircase to meet her green ones.
"I spent a lot of my life being angry.. being sad, my handsome Stanley." Primrose sighed with a shrug. "I just.. didn't wanna feel that anymore. I realized that I can control how I feel, and I shouldn't let anyone else control my emotions.. and I didn't wanna spend my life being sad. Our emotions are what makes us who we are. How things hurt us, change us.. Emotions are a core part of being human.. They shape us into who we are. The decisions we made yesterday could effect us more than we know."
Stanley swallowed thickly, blinking slowly as he carefully listened to every word she said.
"You're ahead of your time, Prim." Stanley offered her a smile, adjusting his position so that his body was facing her.
Primrose grinned, "You mean that? 'Cause it really was a one in a.. million chance. The decisions made by people who lives hundreds, even thousands of years ago, brought us to this moment.. I think it's really beautiful how we're all connected.. It makes a person feel less alone.. If you think about it, the decisions we're making right now could change someone's life in say, Asia.. for better or for worse. I hope it's for better-"
Primrose's sentence was cut short as Stanley leaned forward, pressing his lips against hers. Primrose's eyes widened as she slowly raised her hand to rest on his shoulder. Her eyes fluttered shut as she leaned forward, grinning into the kiss as she relished in how his lips felt against hers. His lips were warm and soft.. and he tasted like coconuts. Primrose loved it. As she slowly pulled apart from him she pressed her forehead against his, her eyes still shut, as breathy laughs left each of their mouths.
"Whose life do you think that changed?" Stanley asked, his cheeks still flushed red from the kiss. His heart hammered against his chest as Primrose drew circles on his collarbone with her thumb.
"Each others."
