SLEEPING was not something you were able to do with how excited you were about everything.
checking the time, you found it to be 1:47 in the morning. you were determined to get some sleep as last night, alex had promised to show you around his town in the morning.
the two of you wanted to pull an all-nighter, but his mother insisted that you get some sleep so that you wouldn't be tired and you'd be able to go out and do whatever you'd like the next day. so when you were heading to bed, alex had hugged you one more time and reminded you how amazing you being in mexico was before he himself had gone to bed.
you tossed and turned, went on your phone for a bit, and even tried to listen to some music to get yourself to fall asleep, but it was no use. ending up staring at the ceiling fan spinning around, you thought about the one thing that always brought you comfort, no matter what.
alexis. alexis and his smile. alexis and his laugh. alexis and his everything.
and soon, you drifted off to sleep.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"y/n, y/n, y/n," you heard alex sing as he softly poked your cheek continuously, "wake up…"
"let me sleep or i will take away your kneecap privileges," you grumbled, your eyes still refusing to open up.
"take away my being single privileges because i'm in love with you."
your eyes shot open at that causing alex to begin laughing at you as he fell back onto your stomach making you let out a light grunt. "got you!" he triumphed, alex was laying on the bed horizontally, and his head was now resting on your stomach as he continued to snicker.
but the fact that he had said that in his hoarse and husky morning voice did not help the flustered feeling taking over you in seconds.
eventually giving in, you laughed along with him as you looked at him. it seemed like he had just woken up a few minutes ago too — he was still in his pajamas, his hair was messy and the beanie, that he most likely quickly threw on, looked like it desperately wanted to get off his head.
so maybe you were laughing more at him then at the stunt he pulled on you.
reaching your hands down to him, you fixed his beanie more securely on his head. sure you wanted to see his hair, so badly, but a long time ago you assured him that he didn't need to show it to you until he was comfortable. you wouldn't want him to do anything he doesn't want to, so you were left waiting patiently for the day he himself would bring up the topic.
"thanks," he mumbled, smiling the biggest smile ever.
you merely nodded. "so, what're we doing today?"
"i actually don't know," he ponders on the matter, resting his head more comfortably on your stomach whilst looking up at the ceiling fan spinning around systematically. "what do you wanna do?"
"take a shower first?"
he quickly got up and extended his hand to help you out of the bed. "okay, let's go."
you pursed your lips to not squeal as you tried your best to not let your dirty mind get to you. he said that as though the two of you would be showering together. shaking your head to let go of the thoughts, you took his hand and he pulled you up and into him.
like he was teasing, which he definitely was, alex said in a hushed tone, "i know you thought of it too, y/n…"
"shut the frack up or i will smack you so hard that you'll end up back in your crib, buddy boy." you avoid his eye contact but couldn't help but smile. making your way to your suitcase that was against the wall, you set it down on the floor and zipped it open to grab the essentials.
practically being able to hear him holding back his laughter, you turned your head around to look at him only to finally have him burst. standing up with your clothes and towel in your hands, you looked at him with a bored look on your face — an expression you mastered over the years where being friends with the dream team was your training.
"what?"
"your…" he barely managed to form words with his vocal chords emitting more laughter, "h-hair—"
well, of course your hair was a mess — you woke up only minutes ago. "out." you commanded, pointing to the door. he held up his hands in defeat, at last, stepping out the door as you shook your head and followed him, smiling.
the shower was a lot longer than the one you had taken last night. a pleasant feeling ran over you as the cool water glided down your skin. you did the necessities and opened the bathroom door wearing fresh new clothes.
alex however, was taking an awfully long time to get ready so you were helping his mother with breakfast, waiting for him. and as you were setting the table, alex came downstairs in his cargo shorts, blue sweatshirt and his beanie holding in all his hair.
"cute," you commented with a smirk, making him look up from his phone that was in his hands.
"what, this outfit is cute?"
"no, i was talking about the person in it." with those words from your mouth, he turned away to hide his blushing yet smiling face and went to greet his mother.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
as the two of you sat on his bed, you couldn't help but smile when alex brought up mexican politics. he was always so invested in it, he looked so cute to you whenever he explained it or started ranting about it. alex seemed so determined that you — even though not as much — had gained an interest in it.
his serious face when he's talking, or his smile when he brings up a part he likes, or even his hands moving around when he's clarifying something — almost anything he does gives you happiness. you'd listen to him for hours if you could.
"actually, i think—" you tried to get something into the discussion but alex interrupted you.
"shut up, y/n, no one cares what you think," he said in a serious tone, narrowing his eyes at you, but had a massive grin plastered onto his face.
you fake-gasped and crossed your arms, facing your back to him, showing him that you were offended. you obviously knew he was joking which was why you were playing along.
"wait, no! i didn't mean it, i'm sorry, i love you," he phrased out really quickly, hugging you from behind.
butterflies. at least that's what you thought you felt? you've had this feeling countless times before but you always pushed it away. one thing was significant about those feelings though; they were all by the same cause. alex. now you were sure of all the answers to your questions. you liked him.
you liked alex.
you knew alex only said 'i love you' from the common understanding that the two of you had — where flirting with each other didn't really mean anything as it was just a joke. and if him saying 'i love you' as a mere joke made you that flustered, you could only imagine what it would feel like if he had said it to you with his whole heart.
"uh, it's okay, alex," you breathed out a small chuckle. letting your arms slip from under his grip, you place your hands on his as he continued to embrace you.
"lo siento, cariño," he still said softly, facing his head to the side as it rested on your back.
silence took over the two of you, nothing uncomfortable though, it was the complete opposite. you loved being there, wrapped up in his warmth, it felt like nothing else in the world really mattered except for the two of you. the only thing on your mind was him.
his smile. his laugh. his jokes. his aura. his ability to make you smile no matter what. again, his everything.

"hey, alexis?"
"hm?"
"what if i told you i like you?"
