Warning:

><The chapter includes blood, gore and cannibalism. Read at your own risk.><

Chloe's POV:

I rush past the patients, my eyes scanning the corridors in search of any nurse I could find. I catch a glimpse of a short woman from the corner of my eye.

"Sister I n-need help..It is Eric. H-he is hurt." My lips quiver as I speak hastily to her.

The woman furrows her brown eye brows in confusion. Her eyes widen upon seeing the blood stained white cloth in my trembling hands.

Eric fell off the tree under my count, the guilt stabbed my heart when I witnessed his gashed knee.

All I managed was to wipe off the blood only to welcome more, oozing out from his fresh wound.

"What happened?" It surprised me how calm her voice is compared to my shaky one.

"E-eric fell off the tree..h-he is on the ground w-with Melissa."

She sighs and places her hand on my shoulder, tightening its grip.

"I will go look after him, don't stress. You go get another piece of cloth from the laundry room and come back to the ground." She nods her head firmly before rushing in the same direction I came from.

I feel useless from the inside. Eric would have been just fine only if I had done my patrolling duty properly.

It is my fault.

Since the day I came here, I only managed to hurt people around me. I'm not even trying to improve myself, hell with that, I barely got any better.

My shoulders slump back as I make my way towards the laundry room. Maybe the nurse asked me to get a cloth just to get rid of me.

There obviously isn't any need of clothes when you can have a good first-aid kit.

I take small unsteady steps, turning to one of the corridors when my eyes meet Aiden's.

I tighten my grip on the blood stained cloth. I can skip the lunch today.

I ate enough of guilt to last for tonight.

The first thing Aiden does is run over to me, seeing my shock state.

"Chloe, what's wrong? Were you c-crying!?" He places his hands on both the sides of my shoulders shaking me.

He looks down at my hand and suddenly pauses. His shoulders tense at the sight I hold for him.

My breath comes out shaky knowing he will be disappointed at me.

"Eric..he got hurt because of me.."

His soft brown orbs turn pitch dark, dilating his tiny pupils at me.

Aiden's POV:

I tried shaking her to snap her back to reality.

Damn, she looks like a mess.

I gaze down at her hands as they hold a white blood stained piece of cloth.

At that moment, I felt like someone poured a bucket of ice cold water right over my head. I freeze, tensing up immediately at the sight.

Blood...

"....of me."

I was sure Chloe is trying to explain something. I look at her but my vision blurs making her face disappear.

I clench my fist and grit my teeth. I could feel a surge of nauseous feeling pass into me as the filthy memories hit me.

It felt like I could sense the scent of the iron of the dark crimson liquid that now I despise with all my life.

*Flashback*

I watch as the monster eyes his prey with a sick pleasure as he stalks around the man tied to the chair, holding pliers in his hand.

I wish I can go erase the faith that tells me this bastard I now see is my father, who turned into a pure devil, devouring people's pain and misery.

He barks out his laughter at the victim's bloody face when he plugs out a pinky finger from the hand

The man shrieks in pain begging to be set free but my father smiles, enjoying the pleasant moment.

Our father was born as a human but without any ounce of humanity or maybe he lost it later finding nothing interesting in it.

He brought a few pedestrians every week or month, torturing them in front of us before killing them slowly and painfully in the basement.

Our mom couldn't handle the psychopathic nature of the man she once loved and killed herself one night, leaving me and Melissa alone to fight off his demons.

I clutch my sister tightly, holding her dearly to myself.

I tried pressing her head to my chest to block the disgusting view from the sight.

It's my duty to protect Melissa from the cruelty we are put into. I swear I'll save the two of us from this living hell.

"NO PLEA-"

A loud screech of agony hits my ears as the woman pleads for her life. The bastard tried severing her ears, fingers on her palms.

Now he decided to go for the neck.

"Ple-eas kil- me-"

Her last words were accepted by her torturer as he stabs her neck with one of his play tools.

Blood gushes out like an open tap water from her new wound as her life slowly escapes from her horrified eyes.

Melissa trembles under my hold. She silently sobs trying to be as quiet as possible. I clench my jaw, squeezing my eyes shut when her neck was snapped open, viciously.

I smell nothing but blood.

The entire basement is draped by old and new blood stains belonging to different people.

My eyelids flutter open to stare at the lifeless eyes staring back at me with pain that it once held.

The sick psychopathic man dips his head to the corpse's dead body.

For a second it makes me wonder if he is sniffing the blood as he goes dead silent until I witness something that shook me to the core.

He snarls ripping off the skin from her neck like a wild bear that would do while tearing down a fish.

His entire face and teeth were covered with dark red liquid making it look ten times worse as he looks up chewing onto the skin.

Breath was knocked out of my lungs as I stand seeing one of the worst horrors I ever witnessed.

My stomach drops down. A sudden urge to puke over comes me.

I could feel the bile rising up my throat, threatening to come out but I had to swallow the urge.

He came back home today with another victim, this time he acted unusual.

My eyes grow wide as a thought struck me.

Is he somehow drugged by Trxyonate?

Melissa's loud scream echoes in my ears breaking me out of my trance.

The man looks up at us, sniffing in the air. His cheeks and lips were coated with thick red liquid.

The corpse that was tied to the chair falls down making the monster look down at it before pouncing and eating the human flesh.

I slap Melissa's mouth shut tightly, trying not to puke my guts as my entire form shakes in fear. Her grip around my waist tightens as we both stare at the scene.

I look around before I spot a wrench at the side of the room. I pull Melissa to a corner, hiding her away in the small basement we are stuck in.

I sneak towards the corner of the room, grabbing the wench in my sweaty palms.

I grip the wrench harder, taking unsteady steps towards the beast.

The smell of blood grew stronger as I approached the scene

. A small creak escapes under my feet and I halt, deadpanned, aware of the danger I placed myself in.

The beast looks up at me with red-yellow liquid leaking from its blood shot eyes. I wanted to throw up the moment I catch a glimpse of him this close but had to restrain it again.

He growls at me threateningly.

I grit my teeth, clenching the wrench and move towards the monster.

I swiftly swing the wrench and land it on his skull. A loud sound of bones cracking rings in my ear and I drop the wrench, stumbling backwards, falling down.

Fresh tears brim my eyes as the beast falls dead to the ground.

I felt no pain, no guilt.

I should have killed him sooner...

*Present*

My breathing was abnormal and raged as I tried to erase every single memory to no avail. They all are alive, carved at the back of my brain.

Each and every victim, their bodies and lastly the act of cannibalism.

I don't know what my fist was touching till I felt someone pull me back by my waist.

I turn around, my vision still blurry ad red with fresh tears streaming down my face.

I somehow manage to see her, standing there once again witnessing me breaking down.

I blink vividly and gaze at the round peach face, those burning emerald eyes staring back at me.

Emma.

I furrow my eyebrows as I watch her break into loud sobs before crashing into me, securing her little arms around my neck.

A strong smell of sweet fragrance hits my nostrils from her blond hair. I stand there unable to register what happened.

It felt like I was pulled out of a delusion of my past, back to reality.

I slowly lift my own arms before placing them on her waist, pulling her closer and losing myself into her smell and touch.

She saw it all.

She saw the pain flash in my eyes.

For some reason, it is only her beside Melissa, who can bring me back to reality from the horrors of my past.

My mind is racing in different directions as I try to comprehend the reason I zoned out.

She sniffs on my shoulders making a small smile break on my face. She cares.

"Hey there, I don't want you to ruin the only dress I have."

She pulls back from me, the warmth disappearing as she glares at me, smacking me on the arm.

"Ow." I rub my arm fiercely before she starts to giggle making me join her.

This girl is my cure and my curse.

"Man you look disgusting with that red face, go wash it off." I wave at her face before she scrunches her nose at me.

"You are a bigger mess, your snot is all over you face."

I raise an eyebrow at her before rubbing my cold using my sleeve. Maybe I should really get cleaned up.

I grin lightly at her, turning around.

"Ladies first." I yell back, walking towards the washroom to freshen up still puzzled about what ever happened.

Well at least I got to hold her.
