• . KIM SEOKJIN ONESHOT . •

{THE CHAPTER}

When the river flows with its own symphony and the rhythm unevenly shatters the very cruel side of me, then a non realistic mythology becomes my credence.

They wrote about karma, they wrote about hellfire; agony of abyss. And at the end of every sin they wrote about how the person will forever have to regret his entire life, lamenting his respective portion of wrong doings.

My willpower couldn't support my sins anymore. Whenever I heard a mother mourn and cry for her son then I was already aware of who the criminal was. Snakes do eat their own sons. I ate my own brother in this blind rush and massacre. Heard my mother tear down in front of me, effing and blinding.

What's more ironic is that she wasn't aware I was the one who ordered to shoot the bullet. I must have told her she would have ended me and I could have been at peace.

But now all I do is watch this river flow away with all the impurities of mankind, wishing she would take me alongside. Just like the dust particles, just like the liquid deposit, take me along with you and leave me somewhere with serenity.

I was tired of just viewing the site. It was time for action, now or never. I came here to committee it and already prepared myself enough.

Thinking about my last breath I jolted up from the place I was seated. My body stood more than 6 feet tall as the cold breeze brushed through my hair making it cover my eyes. That's when my legs adjourned towards the river and hands came in to secure and tug my hair behind my ears. Softly murmuring a melody to take away my fear I found this only way to freedom and to escape.

Air waves again and it comes with something harsh when I was just about to jump in the river. Hurting my head "ouch" that wasn't just air. My head automatically turns back to detect the object which hit me softly yet left some pain as it landed on the ground. A red rubber ball. I knelt down and held it up in front of my eyes. Eyeing the golden logo of the company it was again a reminder of my sins. I occupied the company by deceiving someone.

"Sir Kim, That's mine." Says the little owner of the ball, softness in his tone yet he was demanding for his property. I looked him in the eyes and that exact time guilt fulfilled my lungs leaving no space for oxygen. All I could see was my brother when I visualised the boy in the back of my head. The eyes, the facial structure and remorse plastered on my face.

"You are making me wait, sir." His voice helped me escape the trick of trauma and I gave him the ball without another thought. Oddly, I would have never given anything that comes in my hand but am I at the position of the old Kim Seokjin? Clearly, not.

And the lookalike of my brother holds a bright smile looking right into my soul with his doe eyes. "You are alone here, so I assume you are free?" The boy expressed this with a question on his face which seems to pout at the end of his sentence. I just felt flattered and kept my adoration to myself.

"Yes, probably." I tried to keep my tone firm and not sound soft at all. Alas! I tried.

"Then you can accompany meh!" He blabbered with a little more childish tone and played with the last word making it sound different and I smiled, subconsciously. "Maybe."

Sunny day is setting down in silvery mountains as the evening awoke the child sleeping inside me. "Watch out!" A perfect throw with that challenging smirk on the kid's face as the red ball came slicing the air, rushing to be hit or miss. "This is how we play! If you miss then I'll get a point and if you hit then you get a point, clear?" The kid informed me right before we started and I'm the bat's man. The game is on and this time I bet I will lose.

A cold wave of shiver could be felt in his emotions with the hit, his frown expressed how surprised he was, "I have played more than you will ever get to play." I said in return of that smirk, never challenge a loser just because he is losing the game!

Silent atmosphere, we both had the unreadable look, throat dry as we waited for the other one to speak however none of us had a word to throw on the other.

After a few breathless seconds his aura changed and with a silly smile he ran to get the ball from a little distance.

"I never said I overlooked your skills. Mister! You get offended too easily." He told me like my sixty years old grandparents would have. And that irks me, overall. "One point for meh!" I mimicked his tone and went with my infamous cuteness which left him in disgust. I had to laugh aloud at his screwed face, that was hilarious.

But still more saccharine than those sweet talks people around me and I fake to each other. I already sent everyone a farewell note, this is my last hurrah! "I won, little kid!"

"Alas, I tried my best." The little one accepted his defeat and then there was a half smile, "one more shot?" His question made me gleam and shine. "Why not!" Just like that time passed, taking away the brightness. This was my chief diversion.

I almost forgot my goal and just gave the ball hit after hit. Not that my opponent was any less, we were neck to neck fighting with one point margin in the marks.

And for the last time, the ball elevates in the sky, darkness converted the ground into a horror shooting zone and that little kid ran to catch the ball. He kept on going back until I realised that the ball would fall in the river.

"Hey kid don't go back!" I shouted as loud as I could and stepped towards the individual. He heard me and looked back at the river then again at the ball and jumped straight in the river to catch the ball. I freaked out.

It was only a matter of time when I thought my attempts would come unglued. And I would just as lief replace myself in his position.

So, I did.

I managed to get him out, that was the best move for me to get out together with him. He threw his red ball and gave me his hands thinking I needed them to rise out of the water, deplorably I was dipped back in my sorrow and guilt.

The river water turned into the colour of the kid's ball, all I saw was my amiss reddened hands.

Soon the river took me along with her flow, my entire physique was running out of oxygen. My open eyes saw the bodies I hadn't even buried and my highly conscious mind couldn't escape the deadline.
