04, don't shoot
Both Tessa and Lukas shot each other a chilling look from across the room, getting up from their seats and forming into a group as they followed Jasmine outside. Tessa decided to stick behind, waiting for Daniel to come closer to her so she could speak with him.
"Hey!" Tessa said, "Daniel!"
Daniel suddenly looked away from Jia, his eyes settling on Daniel as he smiled. "Hey, Tes."
"It's nice to see you," she replied, now walking beside him as they made their way outside to see what the problem was.
"it's nice to see you as well," he smiled, "I'm glad you're okay."
"You are?" Tessa asked, partly surprised.
"Of course," Daniel said, walking outside the auditorium, paying no attention to the group.
"Well," Tessa blushed, "I'm glad you're okay too."
As the group left the school, they were met with an alarming amount of people, all huddled around something or someone. "What is it?" Izzy asked, trying to push through the large crowd.
"I haven't seen this many people in a long time.." Lonnie mumbled.
Grey, who had said nothing until now shook his head, "I can get through."
Grey then pushed through the crowd, Izzy lingering behind him. The rest of them decided to stay back, waiting for grey and Izzy to tell them what was going on. As the two reached the source of the crowd, their eyes widened. Izzy's eyes locked on the shiny black gun gripped tightly in a young male's hands, about seventeen or eighteen. The gun, seeming to be loaded with bullets, pointed directly at a girl, no older than fourteen. Izzy didn't see a lot of people her age. Maybe two or three of them in total, as most kids under the age of fourteen disappeared with the family.
Izzy feared that the girl was afraid, yet her expression stayed emotionless as if she wasn't afraid of the gun. Izzy looked over at Grey who mumbled, "I didn't know we were in psycho town."
Izzy had to think fast, she didn't know if this boy would have pulled the trigger or not.
"Damn Bastard stole from me!" The male yelled, continuing to point the gun at the girl, aiming directly between her eyes.
Grey was quicker than Izzy to react, pushing people out of the way and retrieving the rest of the group who had no idea what was going on.
"This happened..." Jasmine mumbled.
"What is- oh shit," Mia said.
"Tessa," Izzy whispered to her, "do something."
"Me?" Tessa asked, "Fuck no."
Lonnie let out a shaky sigh, already beginning to panic. "I'll do something." Lonnie then stepped away from the crowd, beginning to walk in between them. "Alright, you don't have to shoot— we can use kind words and talk about this-"
The male then cocked his gun to the side, moving his aim to Lonnie instead. Lonnie put his hands in the air. Fox lunged forward but was held back by Jia. Lonnie hadn't realized it until now, but there was another male. Shorter than the other but still tall. He seemed to have an expressionless face, but his eyes seemed to be filled with concern and fear as he stared at the gun. "He Can do this himself," Jia whispered to Fox soothingly.
"I don't plan on being shot today," Lonnie paused, turning to look at the young girl, "what'd she do?"
"The bitch stole from me," the male replied, "give me the fucking bag, whore."
the girl glared, gripping onto the stolen bag. "Call me that one more time!"
"Joshua," the second boy warned, "it's just a bag."
Joshua. His name was Joshua.
"Shut it, Austin." Josh hissed, glaring at the male. "It isn't just a bag."
Lonnie stepped in front of the girl, giving her a warning look as he put his hand in front of her. "Can't you just let her have it?" He asked.
"She stole it!" Joshua yelled, now pointing the gun at the two of them.
"But there's no need to use a gun," Lonnie replied, "so just lower your gun."
"I'm not putting away my gun until I get that bag."
Lonnie now turned to the girl. "Can't you give up the bag? You did steal it-"
She narrowed her eyes at him, "if he wants the bag, he can take it from my dead hands."
"I gladly will," Joshua replied through gritted teeth.
Izzy knew she'd have to help Lonnie. This would be her chance. She could've gotten herself shot in the process, but it'd be worth it. Izzy stepped forward to Joshua, freezing in her place as the aim of the gun shifted to her. Izzy could feel everyone's eyes on her. Suddenly, she felt a hand on her shoulder— nearly scaring her straight. Izzy turned, grateful to see Fox's angelic face. "We grab the gun, together," Fox told her softly, glancing over at Lonnie.
"What are you doing?" Lonnie mouthed to him, looking over at the two.
Fox gave him a look, deciding not to answer his question. Both Fox and Izzy began to walk towards Joshua. Joshua gave both of them a look. "I am not putting down the gun."
"We never asked you to put it down," Fox replied.
"But I know you're going to."
"You don't have to shoot," Izzy said, stepping closer to him until she was standing next to him, Fox behind her. "We'll return the stuff."
"Yeah!" Lonnie replied quickly, "she said she'd return them!"
The girl opened her mouth to protest but said nothing. Lonnie glanced back over at Fox and Izzy, watching as they slowly crept towards Joshua and Austin. He knew what they were up to. Probably Fox's plan, he knew he was a smart guy. If he could just distract Joshua, then they could get the gun away from. Lonnie looked back at Joshua. "What's in the bag?" He questioned, "Why are you getting so worked up over a bag?"
"It's none of your business!" Joshua yelled. Lonnie flinched at the harshness of his words.
Joshua's eyes slowly went from Lonnie to Fox and Izzy. It didn't take him long, only a couple seconds or so to realize what they were doing. Fox knew that Joshua knew. Without any hesitation, Fox lunged onto Joshua, desperately trying to retrieve the gun from his hands. Joshua gripped the gun tighter, pulling the trigger, uncertain as to where the gun was aiming at.
As the gun went off, Lonnie felt something pierce his arm, feeling a sharp pain in his left arm. Lonnie's breath hitched, seeing as blood oozed from his bullet wound. He was shot. He shot him.
a small gasp escaped the girl's lips as she dropped the bag, her eyes on the wound. Lonnie didn't know what was going on, he felt the world getting dizzy. He looked up to see Joshua approaching them. Joshua kneeled down next to Lonnie, noticing he was injured. "Oops."
Lonnie slowly looked up at him in disbelief, watching him pick up the bag from the floor and return back to Austin.
Tessa's eyes widened, "Lonnie!" Her eyes darted to Austin and Joshua and then back to Lonnie. "Everyone, fucking go!" she yelled, running over to him and kneeling down in front of him. The crowd quickly left, returning back to the comfort of their homes to watch from the windows. Everyone crowded around them, everyone talking at once.
"Oh my god," Fox said, "Lon, I am so sorry—"
"I'm okay I'm okay.." Lonnie said with a shaky voice, closing his eyes in pain.
"We've gotta get him to a hospital," Jia said worriedly.
"There's a hospital here in town," Fox replied, "I know a thing or two about medical attention, including how to take a bullet out."
Tessa ran her fingers through Lonnie's hair before she stood up. "Great," she replied, "I've gotta take care of something first."
"Where are you doing?" Lukas asked as he pulled her away from the group to speak to her privately.
"I've gotta speak to her..." Tessa growled, Lukas knowing who she was speaking about.
"Lonnie needs his best friend to stay," Lukas said.
Tessa looked sadly over at Lonnie, seeing how to hurt he was. She then looked over at the girl, narrowing her eyes at her. She must've noticed her staring, beginning to back away. Tessa stomped over to her, grabbing her by the wrist. "What the fuck!" Tessa spat out. The girl whimpered, trying to pull away. "It's your fault! You stole the fucking bag from him and now he's hurt!"
"It's not my fault!" She yelled back, "not my fucking fault!"
"Tessa!" Lukas yelled, putting his hand on her shoulder tenderly. His words were harsh as if he was disappointed in her, but his hands were gentle on.
Tears began to build up in Tessa's eyes from anger, she let go of her, leaning back against Lukas as she covered her mouth, a sob escaping her lips.
