"All right, you guys got rope?" John B asks as we all sit in the van, on our way to the Crane residence.

"Got it" Pope answers.

"Grappling hook?" The brunette asks.

"No grappling hook. We're not Batman" Pope scoffs.

"Pulley?" John B continues.

"Check" Kiara huffs.

"Dark clothes?" He states.

"Got it" Sarah and I chime in unison.

"Flashlights?" The boy asks.

"Check" JJ chirps as the van stops.

"All right, good. We're ready" John B announces.

"Let's go" Kiara breathes out.

"Let's go get rich, guys" JJ says giddily.

John B opens the door and JJ shoots me a wink, causing me to blow him a kiss in return which he slyly pretends to catch with a grin on his lips.

"Go, boys" Sarah ushers them.

"And girls" Kiara adds and I pat her back.

"Let's roll" Pope declares.

"Right on" Sarah smiles, trying to get out the van but John B stops her.

"Wait, wait" He says and we all look at him in confusion.

"I wanna say thank you, guys. Seriously. It means a lot to me that you're here tonight" The brunette tells us sincerely.

"Always" Kiara says, rolling her eyes.

"Of course, man" Pope smiles.

"My man" John B replies, both boys doing the Pogue handshake.

"I got nowhere better to be" I shrug with a smirk and the brunette ruffles my hair in a brotherly way, making me smile as I slap his hand away.

His eyes move to Sarah and they share a loving look. I roll my eyes out of habit, but my smile never falters and Sarah sees it, smiling at me happily.

"All right, we done with the circle jerk? Can we go do this?" JJ asks and I elbow him in the ribs roughly.

"This is why we can't have nice things" He grumbles and I snort, shaking my head.

"Let's get that wheat in the water" Pope announces, climbing out the van.

"Weed? I'm up for weed" JJ says like an excited child.

"Wheat, babe. He said wheat" I tell the boy who frowns in disappointment.

"After you" I hear Kiara say as I hop out the van.

"Ladies first" Sarah counters.

"Alley-oop" The dark haired girl says and Sarah climbs over the wall.

Kiara follows my sister over with John B and Pope closely behind her. I haul myself over the wall without a second thought and JJ hops over after me.

John B leads the way as we make our way through the darkened trees and bushes. We reach the house and suddenly a bright light shines at us.

"Shit" We all gasp, panicking as we dive for cover.

"Go, go, go, go" Pope hurries us.

"Flashlights!" Kiara hisses.

"It's on strobe!" JJ panics, trying to turn off his flashlight.

"Shh" John B whispers as the blonde manages to turn it off.

"Okay, so she has motion sensor lights" Pope declares.

"No. You don't say" I gasp sarcastically, earning a glare from the boy.

"We could, uh...move really slowly, maybe?" JJ suggests.

"What?" Sarah asks in disbelief.

"How on earth did I fall in love with you?" I ask in awe.

"Oh, shit. Let's throw a rock at it" John B suggests.

"Him?" I ask my sister, pointing my thumb at John B and raising a brow "Really, Sarah?"

"You really wanna go there?" She asks, nodding at JJ.

"That's a really good idea, actually. Let the axe murderer know that we're here" Kiara says to John B sarcastically, ignoring Sarah and I.

"Throw a rock at it?" Pope questions in utter disbelief.

"You guys have a better idea?" John B snaps.

"Literally anything but that" Kiara answers.

"Come on, you guys. Y'all are all quick enough to get your say when we're anywhere else, why are you all quiet now?" I huff out, looking at them all one by one.

"What about the breakers? In the circuit box on the porch" Sarah speaks up "We used to play hide and seek here as kids. And if we were brave enough, we'd go all the way up to the porch. I've seen it"

"You used to play here?" I mumble in confusion and Sarah nods at me, apologetically smiling.

"No, no. You're not going in the house alone" John B protests.

"Watch me" Sarah scoffs.

"Crain chops people into pieces" JJ warns her.

"If you believe that, but she's like what, 85?" Sarah argues.

"Yeah, somethin like that" JJ nods.

"She's probably barely still kicking" Sarah shrugs.

"We'll go with you, right?" Kiara says, turning to me.

"Obviously" I nod.

"We'll wait for your signal" Pope tells us.

"Okay, cool" Sarah chirps and pulls me to my feet.

"Hey! Be safe" John B speaks up.

"We will" Sarah assures him.

I make a move to follow Sarah and Kiara as they walk away but my arm is grabbed and I turn to see JJ.

"Don't do anything stupid, okay?" He smiles.

"I'll try not to" I grin cheekily.

He pecks my lips and I kiss him again before chasing after the girls.

"She must have a generator plugged into the main power supply" Kiara states.

"Shh" Sarah whispers as we sneak up the porch steps.

Kiara opens the circuit box and I point my flashlight at it.

"Where are the breakers?" Sarah hisses.

"What is this?" Kiara snaps in confusion.

"No, no, no, no, no, no, no" Sarah panics as I look up to see the wires leading inside the house.

"Guys, look" I declare and their gaze follows the flashlight.

"Shit" Kiara huffs.

"It goes inside" Sarah observes.

Kiara turns to the door and opens the gate before putting her hand on the door handle. She looks back at us hesitantly before opening the door and heading inside. The door creaks and I grimace as I follow her inside behind Sarah.

We tiptoe through the house quietly and the sound of a cat screeching startles us, Sarah and I grabbing each other in fear.

"Hey" Kiara says, getting our attention and pointing at the wire on the ceiling.

"Yeah. Yeah" Sarah nods.

We reach a large circuit box and I grin widely at both girls who look triumphant at our find.

"All right" Kiara sighs, switching off a couple switches.

The lights outside turn off and I hear the power shut down, but our happy grins are wiped clean off our faces when we hear the loud chimes from the grandfather clock booming through the house. Sarah gasps and we turn off our flashlights, pushing ourselves up against the wall.
