Pt 1 Ch 5: 𝘉𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘺
I woke up in Billy Hargrove's bed, with his arms wrapped around me, his fingers slightly rubbing my stomach. I rubbed my eyes and had a moment of realization.
"Shit," I whispered.
"Good morning," Billy's deep voice rang out.
"Billy, what happened last night?" I rubbed my eyes and sat up- only to see my naked chest . I instantly covered my body. "No- no way-"
"Yes way," the corners of Billy's lips stretched into as smile.
My lips formed into one too as I saw the boy beneath me. My eyebrows then knitted together. "Billy, we have school today, we're gonna be la-"
"Shhhh, it's alright, missing first period won't kill you," he reassured me.
We got up and he gave me some pajama pants and a shirt to wear. He put all his stuff for school in the back of my car, and I drove him to my house. No one was home there. He came in with me and I quickly got ready.
He stood in the frame of my door and watched me with a smirk. Quickly, I changed into a simple under-shirt paired with a zip-up jacket and jeans. I washed my face and applied simple makeup as Billy walked around my room.
"Who's this?" Billy picked up a polaroid of me and my dad.
"Oh that's my dad," I turned and smiled as I put on some blush.
"So what happened to him?" He asked bluntly.
My face fell a little. "He passed away," I said and got up.
"Shit, my bad, shouldn't of asked," he helped me by grabbing my stuff and putting it in my car.
"It... It's okay," I smile bittersweetly.
"You sure? I didn't strike a nerve or anything?" He awkwardly looked out the window and then at me.
"No, it's okay," I smiled and parked.
The parking lot was full of cars, but no kids. We snuck in through the cafeteria doors and waited for the bell to ring. When it did, we both went separate ways. Billy parted by placing a kiss on my head. "See ya around, Byers."
Nancy saw me and her jaw dropped. "Were you with-"
"Shhhh," I smiled and put my finger to my lips.
"Holy shit!" she squealed in response. "Did you guys-"
"Maybe," I mumbled.
She jumped up and down. "That is absolutely fucking insane!"
The loud halls were filled with her squeals. Nancy and I saw Steve walk past us. He didn't say anything, he just immediately went to his locker, which coincidentally, was right behind me. "Well, I gotta go. We are gonna have a chat about everything later okay?" she said.
"Of course, bye," I responded with a stupid smile on my face.
Nancy walked away. "Tell her everything about what?" I heard Steve say behind me.
"Oh uh, it's uh nothing," I lied.
"Sure... I totally believe you," he pushed my shoulder flirtily.
He laughed. "Nah, I'm joking," he looked at me straight in the eyes with that stupid smile of his spread across his face. "You don't have to tell me anything unless you want to."
"Thanks for informing me, but I already decided that," I joked.
We walked to my class together. He got put in there after the accidental mix up that had been discovered the previous Monday, which revealed he had been in the wrong class for a month. Our seats were by each other. Our teacher was Mr. Hauser. He was probably my favorite because I felt like he could relate to us.
A girl who the only thing I knew was her name sat behind Steve as she sulkily walked in. Her name was Robin. She didn't talk in class and overall kept everything to herself. I decided that day I was gonna talk to her, after class, of course.
I sat next to Steve, passing him notes. I didn't tell him I went to Billy's, but he told me everything about Nancy with Jonathan and how they'd been a thing for a while. He asked me to sit with him during lunch to tell me stuff. I did want to, but I needed to talk with Billy first.
After class, I tried talking to Robin, but she walked past me and straight to Mr. Hauser's desk. I ignored it and decided to keep it in my head for next week to talk. Steve walked me to my next class. Thank God Billy didn't see me or Steve would have been absolutely beat up. I heard from the gossip that the two had issues or something. "Who took Nancy home last night?" he broke the silence of the two of us as we walked.
I looked up to see he was blushing too. What was up with us blushing all the time? It's probably something wrong with us. "Jonathan took her home."
"Wow, her other boyfriend," he sarcastically replied under his breath.
I didn't say anything because I knew what it was like to have someone who you love with all your heart not even actually like you. Those kinds of people are the fakest and most toxic to walk the earth. They make me want to learn Karate so I can hit all their nerves to make them immobile. I finally said something. "Look, I'm sorry. I can talk to her if you want?"
"No, don't. That might make things worse. And besides, when Nancy gets someone involved in her drama, everyone ends up knowing about it. Trust me, I've been dating her for almost a year, well I dated," he corrected himself.
"I understand," I said as I walked into my classroom. "Well, have a good class!"
"You too, Byers," he said hugging me with one arm.
I felt butterflies as I took my seat at the back of the classroom. I know I shouldn't be feeling these things for him, but I did.
