BLOOD OATHS WEREN'T JESSE'S THING. maybe it was because he didn't want to promise anyone anything. Or the fact that he only wanted people to promise him things, not the other way around. For the sake of Cory's happiness, he did the blood oath. He for sure wanted to avoid Samuels lecture, so maybe a couple of lies would get him through the whole thing.

Jesse knew that if he broke the blood oath, nothing spiritual would happen. The worst thing to happen was Cory being mad at him but it's not like he'd care, Cory was never his friend in the first place. Plus, it wasn't his fault Jesse had his eyes on someone. What was he supposed to do, give up his love life?

It was early in the morning, usually the time of the morning where we would get up and smoke, yet this time he couldn't fall back to sleep. He was guessing it was around 6 AM, so he waited and waited for someone to wake up. Often, some of his roommates would get up for a couple of minutes for some water and then fall back to sleep. It wasn't until forty minutes after 6 AM that he saw the face of Samuel. Jesse felt his chest tighten at the sight of Samuel walking into the living room. Jesse grinned towards the young curly-haired boy, standing up from his spot on the couch. "Hey, hot stuff, what are you doing up so early?" Jesse asked with a grin, walking over to him and resting a hand on his shoulder. The other flinched slightly before rolling his eyes. "Oh come on, I know you are taking a Spanish class, Amor.."

Samuel shook his head with a grin, "I was going to ask..you the same question.."

Jesse raised an eyebrow, "Oh yeah? Why would you wanna know that, are you missing me?" Jesse said playfully, leaning in close to him, moving his hand to Samuel's cheek. Samuel bit his lip, removing his eye contact with Jesse.

"Darling," Samuel started, "this is wrong. You know the rules. You know what would happen if people found out about this.." Samuel said quietly, removing Jesse's hand from his cheek. Jesse growled in response.

Jesse forcefully grabbed Samuel's face, making Samuels breath hitch. "I'm not your ragdoll.." Samuel grumbled, avoiding eye contact.

"I'm tired of these rules, " Jesse said, his tone sounding like venom to Samuel's ears. "I'm tired of not having what I've wanted for so long..you.."

Samuel shook his head again, his voice beginning to crack. "No..No..what about Cory? What about the rules? The rules, Jesse."

Jesse presses his forehead against Samuels. "I don't care about Cory..he can't stop this. Nor can the school rules. Now kiss me. Kiss me right now."

"W-What..?" Samuels choked out.

"Right now, kiss me," Jesse repeated.

Samuel finally dared to look Jesse in the eyes, but to Jesse's surprise, he pulled away from him. "I can't," Samuel said after a few seconds, "we can't.."

Jesse's eyes burrowed. "Is there someone else? If there is, I swear to god I'll kill them."

Samuel's eyes widened as he fell silent. He could feel Jesse's eyes staring into his eyes. He gulped before putting a shaky hand on Jesse's shoulder, "No. there's no one else. No one. I just feel like, this isn't the time."

"I thought we had something. Sam?"

"I-I'm going to go get dressed, I Uhm, I'll be back," Samuel said quickly before he rushed out of the room.

Jesse looked down at his hand, the blood oath cut still fresh from a week ago. Jesse cleaned his fist and he roughly kicked the sofa in anger, instantly recreating it. "Such fucking bullshit.," Jesse grumbled before he stormed into the bathroom.

———

JESSE WAS PISSED. Not only did he have to listen to Liam's rants about superhero characters during his English class, but he had to worry if Samuel had found someone better than him. Samuel, who was in all of his classes except history was trying to ignore him. Samuel had so much confidence talking to everyone but whenever Jesse attempted to talk to him, it seemed like he had no self-confidence. He acted quite— shy. Not his usual self.

"And in my opinion, Batman is a superhero because you don't just need powers to be a h- are you even listening to me?" Liam asked, snapping his fingers in front of his face.

Jesse rolled his eyes before looking back at the chalkboard, "yeah, sure..now shut the fuck up"

Liam tilted his head, "you seem more angry than usual..are you okay?"

"why would you even care?" Jesse asked coldly, looking over at Liam who was seated next to him.

Liam shrugged, "dunno...I guess I just care about everyone...?"

"Love sucks." Jesse blurted out as he looked over at Samuel from across the room.

"Love?" Liam asked.

"Yeah.." Jesse mumbled, "it's bullshit. You think you've found the right person in your life and you never wanna let go of them, but they let go."

Liam leaned back in his seat and stared up at the ceiling. "I guess if you put it like that. I haven't had any problems yet.."

"So far," Jesse said, "you haven't had any problems with love so far.."

Liam nodded, "yeah..but I pick the right people to love."

Jesse scoffed, "you can't pick the right people to love. You don't fucking know who the right people are to love..you just love em, shit head."

Liam looked down, "oh.."

Jesse looked towards the clock, seeing they only had two more minutes of class left before break. "Do you know if Sam has a boyfriend?" (A/N hold of you to assume he has a boyfriend)

"Sam? What's he got to do with th-" Liam started to ask but quickly stopped to put two and two together. Cory most definitely wouldn't like this.

Jesse sighed, coming to realize that Liam knew about his 'little crush', "Oi, you better keep your mouth shut, shit head. Can't have anyone knowing about it"

"I won't say anything," Liam lied just as the bell began to ring. Jesse stood up from his seat, grabbing his things and quickly following Samuel out the classroom and down the hall. Liam stood up as well, trying to take in everything that had just been discussed.

Aspen was standing at the classroom doorway, waiting for Liam to pack up his things. "We have chemistry in three minutes, hurry up."

Liam shoved a couple of folders into his jansport, "you won't believe what I just heard from the devil himself!"

"Jesse?" Aspen questioned, "what'd he say?"

Liam looked around the classroom, before he walked over to his friend, beginning to spill the exact secret Jesse didn't want anyone to know about.
