Wings and Ghosts

Alison was eating life saver sour gummies because those were her latest cravings.  Anything sour.  Yes, it was morning.  And yes, she was eating them as part of her breakfast.  Did she care if it wasn't good for her?  Hell no.

"Your boobs are getting so big," Mark exclaimed to his fiance as he reached for one and squeezed it.

"Mark!" She squealed but then whimpered slightly as it hurt.  "That hurts."

"Sorry," he smiled at her and caressed the breast he squeezed to soothe it.  "God, I love pregnancy on you."

"You know, my belly button is sticking out more," Alison said randomly.

"You think you're gonna be an outie?" He asked not taking his attention away from her breasts until she rested her hand under his jaw and brought his face up to look at her.

"Eyes are up here, Mark."

"Huh, sorry," he said to her as he shook his head and looked at her.  "What are you going to do today with your mom?"

"I think I'm gonna take her around Seattle and be a tourist, kind of.  I was thinking of taking her to the Space Needle and I was thinking we could use a girls day with shopping so maybe Bravern mall in Bellevue."

"Thinking of getting some sexy lingerie?" He asked suggestively and Alison let out an unattractive snort.

"Definitely not with my mom with me.  Do you know how awkward that would be?"

"Babe, she already knows we have sex.  You're pregnant," he pointed out.

"I'll see.  How about that?" He shrugged his shoulders and made a face.

"Fair enough," he leaned across her as he placed a kiss to her lips, chest and then her bump as they both got out of bed.

His sweat pants hung dangerously low on his hips where you see the v line and made his abs look amazing.  If Alison's mom wasn't in the other room she would have him right then and there.  Maybe a blow job even.  But it would be awkward if she heard them even if she knew that they had sex.

"Put a shirt on," Alison told her fiance as she handed him one that hugged his muscles in all the right places.

"I thought you loved seeing me naked and half-naked," he smirked as he put it on him.

"I do, but I don't want my mom seeing you like that."

He squeezed her butt on the way out as they walked close together.

"Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce Stan," Richard introduces the robotic patient.  "State of the art computerized patient simulator.  Stan can educate you in airway management, trauma assessment and care.  He breathes, he pulsates, he seizes, he hemorrhages," Richard explains to the group of residents as Miranda comes rushing into the room.  "He secrets and he speaks.  Hello Stan," Richard greets the robot.

"Hello, doctor.  I'm not feeling well," Stan answered back robotically.

"Stan will tell you want he needs and he's more forgiving than most patients.  You kill him, he'll be coming back for more," Richard finishes and begins to leave.  "So make good use of him people."

"We're operating on robots now?" George asked Miranda and for once Alex secretly agreed with him, though he would never admit to it.

"Can we please go back to pigs?" Alex asked.

"What about people?" Cristina chimed in.

"When the chief decides which one of you get to have the first solo surgery, you'll be ready," Miranda told the group of residents, not realizing what she had just unleashed.

"Wait did you just say solo surgery?" George asked first catching on the quickest and then the rest of the group did as well.

"I do not know what it will be.  I do not know when it will be.  I do know that the winner should prepare to do any surgical procedure and will choose one intern to scrub in.  So, practice your skills and press your attending's and do not make me look stupid.  Grey, Stevens, you're with Hahn.  Yang in the pit, Karev and O'Malley the skills lab.  Take turns getting to know Stan."

"Dibs," George yelled as Alex was walking backwards and hit Stan on the chest yelling, "mine."

"I'm having chest pain," Stan said to the two residents.

"Good luck with that," Miranda nodded her head and left as fast as she could.

*

"Just to be clear we aren't cracking open any chests today?" Izzie asked Erica as she, Erica and Meredith were walking through the hospitals hallway's.

"No Stevens," Erica told her.

"It's just that with the solo surgery coming up we were kinda hoping to be on a cool surgical-"

"Alright, I'm going to stop you right there.  Listen, I don't get attached to patients but I like this guy.  And I have spent almost two years.  Giving his family hope and then taking it away.  This procedure can buy him time until he can get another shot at a transplant so we need to make sure it works.  Okay?"

"Absolutely," Meredith agreed with her.

"Of course," Izzie said.

"You familiarize yourself with the case?" Erica asked the residents.

"Yeah, Michael Moore is a forty-four year old male with congenital hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.  Was failed medical treatment at Seattle Press.  He's been waiting on a transplant since narrowly missing out on one on May fourteenth, two-thousand and -"

"Wait, wait, wait," Izzie pulled her aside.

"What?" Meredith asked confused.

"May fourteenth, what?"

"That's - that's Denny's heart," Izzie said as her own heart started pounding.  "That's the heart I stole for Denny."

Her past had come to haunt her.

Today was the day that the residents would be spreading their wings and going in on a solo surgery.  Alison knew beforehand that this was going on but she had Mark and Derek to text her through out the day to let her know who would win.  She secretly hoped it was Alex or Cristina.  She loved Meredith, she really did.  But she felt like he was the chief's (and Derek's) favorite and got everything over the other residents, which wasn't really fair.

And though she was getting along better with Izzie, she didn't want her to win.  She still had a bitter taste in mouth like black coffee when she thought about Denny.

Izzie knew she couldn't send Alison a text about the patient who she stole his heart from because it was still a sore subject with Alison.  Though they were getting along better now, whenever someone mentioned Denny, Alison would send daggers her way and not talk to her for the rest of the day as she was reminded of that horrible day where nothing went as planned.  Besides, Alison wouldn't understand, Izzie thought.  So she decided to talk to Meredith.

*

"You ready to go in, mom?" Alison asked her mom as she parked and they were walking into the beautiful mall.

"Yeah," Madelyn nodded her head, just happy to spend time with her daughter.

Normally Alison didn't like spending money on high end handbags but after seeing luxury hauls on YouTube in her spare time she was starting to be okay with the idea.  Even more so when Mark gifted her with them.  They went into the Louis Vuitton store and were right away greeted by a sales person.

"Is there anything I can help you two ladies out with?" The woman asked as she wore a very nice black dress and Louis Vuitton heels.

"I was actually wondering if you had the Alma BB handbag in the blue glacier color?" Alison asked and the sales woman's eyes lit up.

"Of course," she nodded her head enthusiastically.  "We actually had been sold out of it for weeks and just got shipment in earlier today.  Let me get it for you."

"Thank you," Alison gave her a thankful smile as she and her mom browsed the high end store.

She ended up buying the Alma BB handbag in the color blue glacier.  She also bought the Bella handbag in the color Bleu Neuage.  Baby blue was her favorite color in general but since she was having a baby boy, it went with the theme.  It was super cute how it reminded her of her Neverfull bag Mark had bought her just in a more smaller handbag.  It also came with a coin purse attached on the handle.  Even though the two handbags she bought were small, they were actually pretty spacious inside with more room then she thought there would be.  Alison made sure to ask Mark before he left this morning if it was okay to purchase anything that was over ten thousand dollars.  It wasn't that she needed his okay but they just recently combined their money and would feel awful if she didn't at least warn him.

"What do you think of this, Alison?" Her mother asked her as she was marveling over the onthego pm handbag that a sales woman had shown her.  It was in a light pink color.

Madelyn tried it on as she modeled it for her daughter and Alison told her mom that she had to get it.  It was almost as if it was made for her.  Of course, Alison had to go to the Chanel store because she had seen these black and white sneakers online and she wanted to try them on before ordering.  Luckily they ended up having them in store and she bought them in her size.

They went into Janie and Jack and bought a few new outfits for the little one but she knew not to get a lot of items since the baby shower would be on Saturday.

The last place they went to was a lingerie store.  Alison felt a little uncomfortable going in at first since she was with her mom but it ended up not being awkward at all and she bought a few items.  Especially if she was going to do a maternity photoshoot.

*

"How's Alison and baby?" Derek asked Mark as they walked through the hallways in the hospital after getting out of the elevator.

"Good," Mark said with a proud smile on his face.  "Though she has our apartment freezing cold right now and she lives in sweaters even though she gets hot.  I don't get pregnancy.  One minute she wants to have sex with me and the next - nothing."

Derek laughed at his friends comment.

"Just be glad you aren't the one having to push out the baby in the end," Derek told him.

"Don't joke like that, my friend," Mark told Derek as he placed a hand on Derek's shoulder.  "I have nightmares about that," he said so serious that it made Derek laugh out loud as his head went back.

Both Mark and Derek told Alison they would text her throughout the day and let her know who was in the lead, who sucked, and who would eventually get the solo surgery.  That was the one request she had from them when she took the day off, to which they both agreed to.  It was a simple enough request, they just had to remember to text her.

*

"We have to go in here mom," Alison said as they were in front of Trophy Cupcakes.

"Okay," Madelyn let out a laugh as she followed her daughter into the high end bakery.

"I'm going to get a few for us to try and then take home some.  Mark and I love this place.  They're a little pricey but it's the best bakery!"

"Okay," her mom told her.  "I think I'll have the strawberry cheesecake.  It sounds so good and refreshing right now."

"That does sound good.  I think I'm going to get the samoas cupcake one.  I miss girl scout cookies," Alison told her mom.

"What can I get you two?" The cashier asked with a small smile on her face.

"Hi, can we get the strawberry cheesecake one and a samoas cupcake?" Alison asked.

"Yeah, definitely," the cashier said with a small smile and put them in as she told Alison the total of the cupcakes and she handed her the credit card.

"Then can we get a box of six for after we're done?"

"Of course.  Do you want to order them now and then get them after?"

"Yeah.  Can we get a box of six with the pride party, triple coconut, Washington blueberry pie and strawberry cheesecake cupcakes and then a red velvet and milky way galaxy macaron?" Alison asked the cashier.  Even though it wasn't the month of June yet, it was only a few weeks away and the owner of the cupcake place always liked to have the pride cupcakes out earlier.

"Of course.  The Washington blueberry pie cupcake is my favorite.  It's so good," she tells the mother-daughter duo.

"I'm glad we're getting it then," Alison smiled at the cashier and paid for everything.

Lexie was watching from the small clear glass window in the door, confused what her fellow interns were doing.  Since she didn't have Alison at work for the next few days, she was on her own.  Sure she could talk to Derek or Mark but she didn't really feel comfortable talking to Mark without Alison.  It wasn't that she wasn't friends with them too but she knew she could talk easier to them better with Alison there.

It probably had something to do with the fact that they were very strong men and her attending's.  While Alison outranked her, she was easy to approach.  Lexie's relationship with both men were getting better and she was finding it easier to ask for help from them.

"Are you guys shooting drugs?" She asked the group in shock as she approached them.  "Oh my God!"

"No, we're practicing IV's," Steve said as he showed her his arm.

"How else are we supposed to learn?" Graciella asked.

"They never let us do anything."

"So you're practicing on each other?" Lexie asks, still shocked.

"We did at Baylor.  It's cool," Ryan told Lexie.

"No, it's not cool.  It's crazy.  It's like creepy basement crazy," Lexie said and began to walk out.

"Don't tell anyone.  We know you're besties with Dr. Anderson so that means you know the attending's pretty well.  But don't," Steve tells Lexie as she leaves.

"Don't worry she won't tell," Graciella assured Steve and they went back to practicing IV's on each other.

Lexie rolled her eyes as she left.  She couldn't believe they were asking her to keep this big secret from Alison.  Not that she could tell anyway since she wasn't working today.  She could text her but she knew she was spending time with her mom and she didn't want to disturb her.

*

"Have you decided what kind of birth you are going to have?" Madelyn asked as they ate their cupcakes.

"I need to have the epidural," Alison said right away, knowing she wouldn't be able to tolerate the pain.  "But it's going to be natural.  I'm just really nervous about the actual birth," she confessed as she rubbed her bump.

"It might be nerve-racking during the whole process," her mom started out.  "But once it's over and you hold your son for the first time it will be worth it."

"Thanks mom," Alison said with a smile.

"You never told me how your diabetes test went," Madelyn remarked.

"Oh it went really good, yeah.  All my levels were normal and baby is healthy."

"Oh good," Madelyn smiled at her daughter.  "I know the diabetes test can be a lot."

"It was definitely long but I'm just glad everything is okay.  You know what I just realized?"

"What?" Her mom asked as she finished her cupcake.

"I'm telling you about my diabetes test as we're eating cupcakes and macarons," she said which sent the two women into fits of laughter.

*

"Doctor Hunt, you got a second?" Richard asked the new doctor as he popped his head in the room.

"It's about to get loud in here, sir, but shoot."

"Listen, we're getting ready to award the first solo surgery to a second-year resident.  I want you to - "

Before he was able to finish his question to Owen though the door opened up.  In came the paramedics came in with a patient, just as Owen had predicted.  The ER was always chaotic and it helped that they finally had someone in charge of it, like Owen.

"Male, mid-thirties, lost vitals on the field.  Possible fractures in both arms.  Unstable pelvis," the paramedic says.

"Okay on three," Cristina tells the group and they move him to the other bed.  "Two, three, good."

"Open right tib fib, rigid abdomen," the paramedic says to the group.

"Who is this guy?" Cristina mutters.

"Found him on a freeway overpass," the paramedic says to Cristina.  "Cops think someone threw him over."

"What did they do?  Beat him half to death?"

"This contest is a solo surgery?" Owen asks Richard.

"Yeah, fresh eyes.  You don't know them personally.  You don't have any history or relationship.  That perspective is rare here."

"I'll give it some thought," he tells the chief.

"Doctor Webber, I was wondering regarding the solo surgery, I'm presuming it's going to be general surgery?" Cristina chimes in.  "I just wanted to be prepared."

"You'll know when you all know," Richard tells her.  "One more thing," Richard then brings attention back to Owen.  "If my reports are right you have been working for three days straight.  When do you sleep?"

"Do you keep tabs on all your attending's?  Or just the new guys?" He asks and laughs a little and Richard smiles.

"His IV blew," Lexie told anyone who would listen and that drew Owen's attention and he rushed to the patient's side.

"Yang, he needs that access now," Owen told the resident.

"Yes, I'm doing it sir," she reassured him and he did it himself.

"If you were less worried about winning a contest, you might have got him," Owen said to her.

*

"How has your friendship with Derek been lately?" Madelyn asked her daughter as they decided to eat somewhere since they were both hungry.  "I know he wasn't too crazy about your relationship with Mark when he first found out."

"It's good, yeah," Alison said after she took a bite.

"You know I wasn't happy when I heard from James what Derek called you..."

"None of us were, mom.  But we all make mistakes and say things we aren't proud of.  Does that mean I throw away a friendship because of it?"

"I'm not saying that," Madelyn let out a sigh.  "Look, I love Derek, but I love you more.  I just don't like seeing you hurt is all.  Just be careful with Derek."

"I am," she smiled at her mom and reached over to squeeze her hand in reassurance.  "Derek can be an ass sometimes but he's my person and I love him."

*

"So you're going to give me a heart attack, literally," the patient of Erica's said.

"Uh, it's a technique called alcohol ablation," Meredith told him.  "Through a catheter in your femoral artery.  Doctor Hahn will inject ethanol straight into your heart.  The alcohol will incinerate any tissue cell that touches," the patient nodded his head in understanding.

"Doctor Stevens?" Erica said to the blonde who hadn't said a word since they got into the patient's room.

"Um, we're going to be burning away the muscle in your ventricle that is blocking your ability to get oxygen.  If we're successful, you should feel immediate relief," she finished not being able to look him in the eye.

"Just like that?" Michael asked.

"Just like that," Erica told him.

"And he can't be asleep during the procedure?" His wife asked the surgeons.

"I'm afraid not.  Doctor Stevens here will be asking you to cough, inhale, and exhale..."

"Check to see if I'm dead yet?" He asked.

"Mike, stop," his wife told him.

"I mean, it is a heart attack, right?" He asked as he kept looking at Izzie.

"It's a dangerous procedure," Erica told him.  "But it's one that we can monitor and control.  And if you don't have it - the next heart attack you have, and you will have one," just then Izzie couldn't hear what Erica was saying because all she could see was Denny walking through the hallway.

And he looked healthy.

*

"I want Mike's echo and angio before he goes to the cath lab," Erica tells Meredith before she leaves.

"Wow, are you freaking out?" Meredith asks Izzie who looks dazed and confused.

"What?  Why?  Do you think I should be?"

"This patient and Denny's old room.  I mean, it's a lot of Denny for one day," Meredith tells her.

"It is.  A lot.  Is it a lot of Denny for you too?  I mean how much Denny are you experiencing?" Izzie questioned her good friend.

"Iz, you can do this," Meredith reassured her friend and Izzie left as she nodded her head.

Maybe it will all be okay?

*

"Your saying this one might be a little dicier?" Rosemary and her husband Ed asked Derek and Miranda.

"Much dicier then previous surgeries," Miranda told them the unfortunate news.

"I want to be clear, you can live with this tumor," Derek told his patient, who he had grown to love in this short amount of time.  "For months, if not longer."

"No," she shook her head.  "Not like this.  Not feeling this bad," she said then looked up at her loving husband, Ed.  "I understand risks are part of package.  That's why you people make me go cross-eyed signing all these forms," she said with a laugh.

"Your signing a do-not-resuscitate form," he notices the form she is signing.

"It is my time to go."

"She doesn't want to be on a life support kind of thing.  She'd hate that," Ed tells the surgeons.

"I'd just hate lying around like that," she says as she looks at them as well.  "I don't want that."

"Okay," Derek says quietly.

"Bye darling," Rosemary turns to her husband with a soft smile on her face after she had taken off her reading glasses.

"Bye love," he tells her sweetly and leans down to kiss his wife and Rosemary hugs him afterwards as Miranda stares in shock and Derek with a soft but scared smile on his face.

"Sorry," Ed apologizes to them.  "We do this every time.  She signs a paper, we kiss goodbye, then after the surgery we say hello again."

"Well that sounds like a plan to me," Miranda agreed with the last part.  "You rest up.  We'll be bringing you up soon."

"And that is the holy grail of marriage," Miranda murmured to Derek on their way out and he agreed.

"It's something to aspire to," he said.

*

"Come on," Derek mutters under his breath.  "Pick up.  I need you Ali."

When she finally answers her phone he lets out a sigh of relief.

"Thank God, where the hell have you been?" He asks her, frantic.

"Sorry," she apologizes and gives a sheepish smile even though he couldn't see.  "I've been spending the day with my mom.  "What's up?"

He let out an exhausted sigh and Alison knew immediately something was wrong.

"I'm doing surgery on a patient today who has metastases are prone to spontaneous bleeding which means her surgery is much more riskier than normal.  And she signed a DNR today before we perform the surgery."

"Why am I getting the sense that you don't want to perform the surgery?" Alison questioned and Madelyn looked at her daughter and knew immediately it was work related.

"Because for the first time I don't want to.  She's a much older patient and she has a husband who she loves.  If you met them you would think they were the cutest couple.  How can I do that to her?  To them?  If something goes wrong in the surgery, it will be my fault..."

"Derek," she says sympathetically and understanding of the situation.  "I understand that you have grown close to this patient and this couple, but if it's her time to go then it's her time to go. All you can do is try to buy her as much time as you can that she has left.

"I know that.  I guess I just needed to hear it from someone else," he confessed and she smiled softly.

"And Derek?"

"Yeah?"

"It's a beautiful day to save lives."

"It's a beautiful day to save lives," he repeated, this time with a smile on his face.

*

"Doctor Yang, you paged me?" Mark asked the second-year resident.

"Yeah, patient trauma one," she told him as she continued to look down at her phone.

"You paged me for a consult?"

"I did.  The patient has a shattered nose and cheekbones in trauma one," she tells him.

*

"Okay Mike, the catheter's are in," Erica tells her patient.  "It's time to inject.  Okay, just hold tight.  Stevens - over here please," and she comes to Erica's side.  "I specifically chose you for this case because you connect well with patients."

"Yeah, that's actually something I've been told to work on not doing," Izzie tells her as Meredith listens to their conversation.

"Mike needs you talking to him.  He's scared.  His pulse is elevating, step up," Erica tells Izzie who nods and goes to the patient.

"Hey Mike, you're doing great," Izzie tries to reassure their patient.  She looks at Erica who gives her a reassuring nod.  "You're going to feel a little burning."

"Will that make it-" he then grunts and his whole body withers in pain.  "Oh there it is."

"Try not to move," Erica says.

"Try to lay still, Mike," Izzie tells him.  "Try to breathe."

"Mike, we can't stop but it's going to end soon so just hang in there," she tells him.  "Steven's talk to him."

"I'm sorry," Izzie tells him and then looks up to see Denny standing there.

"I can't do this again," Mike tells them as Izzie snaps out of it.

"I'm sorry.  I'm so sorry," she then gets up and leaves.

"Have Stevens find me so I can permanently throw her off my service," Erica tells Meredith as they walk through the hospital hallways.

"Doctor Hahn, I know you have a history with this patient," Meredith begins.  "But in a weird way, Izzie does too."

"A history?" She turns around to face Meredith.  "With my patient?"

"No, with Denny Duquette," Meredith tells her.

"Tell her to find me," she tells Meredith then walks away.

*

"Hey," Erica greets Callie who greets her back.  "Let me ask you something.  Do you know if Izzie Stevens had some sort of a relationship with Denny Duqette?"

Callie lets out a scoff and laughs as Erica looks at her weird.

"You mean besides the engagement oh and the cutting of his L-VAD wire so that she could move him up to transplant?  What?  You didn't know about this?" Callie asks her.  "Izzie was on probationary leave.  She was like nearly kicked out of the program.  I take it you weren't aware then."

"No, I wasn't.  I was at another hospital watching my patient's heart get stolen out of his chest."

It was in that moment that Callie realized just what she had done.

*

"Chief, I have to talk to you," Erica said as soon as she opened up the door and found her chief laughing in his seat.

"Hey, Hahn come here.  I want you to watch this.  Let's blow an artery," he said still laughing.  "I'm bleeding out.  I'm bleeding out," he laughed into the mic.

"It's about Izzie Stevens and Denny Duquette," she said which made him stop laughing and be serious as they followed him to his office.  "How is Stevens still working here?" She asked mad and slammed the door behind them.  "How is Seattle Grace still credited?  This whole thing goes unreported?  No wonder this place is number twelve.  What kind of hospital are you running?"

"You stop right there," Richard said to her.

"I want an Ethic's review panel assembled," she tells him.  "I want Steven's roll in this investigated and Bailey's as well because she-"

"Slow down, Erica," he says getting upset as well.

"No, my patient lost a heart over this, Richard!  Someone's damn well going to lose their job."

"Stop," he yelled.  "We're not digging this up.  It didn't go unreported.  It was reported to me and I dealt with it.  Steven's was punished and she's learned from her mistake.  She is on her way to becoming an excellent surgeon.  That's the kind of hospital I'm running," he yells at her, furious.  "Now this issue has been laid to rest.  It's in the past and that's where it's going to stay," he yells as he sits down.

"It is not in the past for me," she yells back just as upset and passionate about this.  "It's lying on the bed in the ICU about to die."

"Then your only responsibility is to make sure that doesn't happen!"

She shakes her head in disbelief at his behavior and how he's handling this.  She walks out and leaves, slamming the door behind her.

*

"It was a difficult surgery," Derek explains to Ed after they came out of surgery.  "Especially at her age.  We're not sure how she's going to respond."

"Oh she will," Ed tells him and walks to his wife.  "The waiting is always the hard part."

"Ed, she might not make it through the night," Derek tells him, softly but also wanting to prepare him for the worst.

"I know," he tells the surgeon.  "I know," and takes hold of his wife's hand.

*

"Please don't be there," Izzie kept on whispering to herself, hoping not to see Denny again.

Erica comes out of Mike's room to speak with her.

"I came to apologize and ask if I could please be let off your service," Izzie tells her.

"No.  If I can convince Mike to have another ablation you're gonna be there to see him through.  To look him in the eye.  To help him through the pain that you have caused him.  And if he dies, I want you there for that too because you're responsible."

"He decided," Mike's wife came out of the room to approach the two surgeons.  "He won't do another procedure.  I'm going to go check him out," she told them and left.

Izzie walked into Mike's room.

"She'll be okay.  This- this has been coming for a long time," Mike tells her.  "She'll be okay.  She'll move on."

"If you die, she will not get over it," Izzie tells him.  "She will not move on.  She'll think she can, she'll think she has.  Then out of the blue you'll be right there with her, close.  She'll think she can touch you and then this will all be happening for her all over again.  She will not be able to move on," Izzie tells him.

*

"What's going on?" Derek asks as he walks into Rosie's room.

"She's coding and Ed is reconsidering the DNR," Miranda fills him in.

"Ed, this is what I warned you about.  This moment.  Even if we try to resuscitate her, I'm not sure she's going going to wake up again.  Nothing more we can do."

"Rosie," Ed calls out to his wife.  "Rosie?  Hun?  Rosie?" He asks and then she starts to flatline.  "No.  Stay with me, Rosie," he tells her and then begins to perform CPR on her.

*

"I'm glad you decided to try again," Erica tells Mike.

"You can thank Doctor Stevens," Mike says as he looks at Izzie.  "It's her fault we're here, right?" He jokes not realizing the double meaning behind it.

"Vitals are stable and he's ready for the injection," Meredith tells Erica.

"Alright, alcohol is going in," Erica tells him.

"Wait- wait don't," he begins to say.

"Mike stay with me.  Look at me.  It's going to hurt but not as much as you think it's going to," Izzie tells him and then his body seizes.

"Get him to cough, get him to breathe," Erica tells Izzie.

"Mike you need to breathe," Izzie tells him.  "Cough for me.  Look at me, Mike," he starts to and then Izzie seems him again.  She sees Denny.

*

"So how's your patient doing?" Callie asks Erica as they leave the hospital.

"Well, he still needs a heart, but I bought him some time."

"Good I'm glad."

"I went to the chief about Izzie Stevens," Erica confesses to Callie.  "And he completely shut me down.  Well, we'll see what he says when I report this to UNOS."

"Woah, woah, woah, wait why?" Callie asked.  "What good would come of that?"

"What do you mean?" Erica asked confused.

"What possible good would it do?  I mean would it benefit your patient's outcome?"

"My patient wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her," Erica said annoyed that even Callie wasn't understanding her frustration.

"Your going to report this to UNOS and cost this hospital its transplant certification?  Cost our patient's organs?  Cost people their jobs?  Cost Izzie Stevens her career?"

"Wait, so you're taking Izzie Stevens side in this over mine?"

"She's a doctor, one of our doctors," Callie said.  "There's a reason we have each other's backs..."

"Oh please," Erica stopped her right there.  "Do not talk to me about a code.  Because this is not that."

"No, this is that," Callie said upset.  "Look I don't know what happened between Denny Duquette and Izzie Stevens that night but unless you were in the middle of that situation, I don't see how you can make a judgement."

"Easy.  There's right and there's wrong.  This was wrong.  And illegal.  There is no grey area here.  You can't kind of think this is okay.  You can't kind of side with Izzie Stevens.  And you can't kind of be a lesbian."

"Yes, I can," Callie tells her.

"I can't believe I didn't know this."

"Erica, chief is right," Callie tells her.

"No, you.  I don't know you at all," she says and then walks away.

Mark came home, exhausted from work as he took the knot out of his tie and set his belongings down.  He noticed that it was warmer in the home and he hoped that it meant that Alison's body temperature was going back to normal.  First thing he noticed when walking in further was the cupcakes on the counter from the bakery that he and Alison love so much.  He got out the Washington blueberry pie and unwrapped the paper around it and ate the first bite.

"Alison?" He called out and continued to eat more.

Tomorrow was Saturday, which meant it was also her baby shower.  Then Mark and Alison would be off to Hawaii in a week which they were both excited about.

"Where's your mom?" Mark asked as he still didn't hear her.

"Derek took her to dinner so that we could have alone time.  He lost a patient today and needed to talk with someone."

"Really?" Mark raised an eyebrow.  "Remind me to thank him later."

Alison laughed and Mark started to kiss her as he felt her up.  All she wanted was to have her way with him.  Call it hormones or whatever you want but they were like this anyway, regardless of her pregnancy.

"Wait," Mark says and goes back into the kitchen.

"What?" Alison asked with furrowed brows.

"Had to get these," he grinned mischievously, he said in reference to the cupcakes he brought along with them and Alison shook her head with a smile on her face.

"I love you," she told him.

"I love you too, sweetheart," he said to her and followed her into their bedroom.

Mark might have been exhausted but he was never too tired for sex.

I'M BACK!!!

First, I want to start out by apologizing for the very late update!  I have had zero motivation to write any of my books lately for some reason and then finally got the inspiration back.  So hopefully I will be writing more.

I had been watching YouTube videos of luxury hauls and that's what inspired this chapter lol.

Whose excited for the baby shower in the next chapter and then the baby moon?  Also who felt bad for Mike in this episode?  I love Denny, don't get me wrong.  But I felt bad for Mike that he even had to go through this surgery and this was the one time.

Who do you think was right though about the legal matters during this situation?  I'm curious to know your thoughts.  Do you think Erica was right or Chief Webber and Callie?  I can tell you Alison is going to be pissed at Erica when she finds out she told Callie she can't kind of be a lesbian.

To motivate myself I'm going to try to post chapters two, possibly three days a week.  Also, because I'm excited for their baby to get here.  It might be two but we will see how it goes.  I don't want to give you days when I'll update because if I don't post on that given day then I don't want to disappoint you guys.
