Mama Shepherd
[season 5 episode 12]
I want to apologize for the long wait for updates! I did not mean to take as long as I did. I got a new job in March working for a hospital in outpatient cardiology so its taken up a lot of my time.
Also the next announcement - this is the closest you are ever gonna get from me from a sex scene lol. I could be wrong but I think this is the first time I've ever written a shower scene. So enjoy!
--
"I'm up, I'm here," Arizona said to Miranda as she walked in and put her white lab coat on. "What's going on? Where's Alison?"
"Alison is at home asleep. Being thirty-six weeks pregnant, she needs all the sleep she can get. But Jackson's BP is a little down from yesterday. No big deal," Miranda tried to reassure Arizona. "If we make a few calls, get pushy, maybe we can get him bumped a few spots up on the transplant list."
"Doctor Bailey - you paged me 911 at 2:30 in the morning to chat?" She asked in shock.
"Uh, you like to chat," Miranda tried to defend herself. "Your chatty."
"Not at 2:30 in the morning!" Arizona replied. "Look, he's young. He's near the top of the list. We'll find him his organs when we find him his organs and God knows that staying up all night chatting about it is not going to help. I'm gonna go get some sleep. I suggest you do the same."
"He's running out of time," Miranda said shaken up and tired of being patient for him.
"They always are," Arizona told her coworker. "Welcome to Peds."
Unfortunately Arizona was right and it was one of the saddest things having to work in Peds with. You get close to the patients and their families and you don't know if they are gonna make it or not.
*
"Oh, right there," Alison sighed in bliss as Mark hit the right places as they were in the shower.
This was the best way to wake up to as this was their second round. Since Alison had been pregnant, this pregnancy she was even more satiable than Mark, if that were possible, but Mark wasn't complaining. It was the first time in weeks that she actually felt up to having sex with her fiancé so she of course was going through with it.
"Your so gorgeous when you moan for me bubs," Mark praised his fiancé as he thrusted deep inside of her and was placing wet open mouth kisses down her neck and even giving her some hickey's on her chest so the patients wouldn't see. She threaded her fingers through his wet hair and moaned as he hit her in all the right places.
"I'm gonna cum," she panted as she couldn't take anymore and knew her high was almost there.
"Let it go baby," he told her as he pounded into her as her legs wrapped around his waist and her arms around his neck.
She felt herself shutter in delight as she tightened around him and her liquid filled him up.
"I love you," he told her as he caressed her cheek as they both came down from their high after he came too.
"I love you too, Mark," she let out a satisfied smile.
He set her down to stand on her own as he turned off the shower water and lowered himself onto his knees and massaged her belly. He then pressed his lips to her bump and she smiled down at her fiancé as she ran her fingers through his hair.
"And I love you too."
Alison could't get enough of him right now, especially being pregnant, but because of how he looked naked in the shower. Water droplets running down his body, his abs on full display. He was so delicious and Alison was taking in every minute she could with her man.
*
"You'll be fine," Izzie reassures Meredith as she walks in the hospital with Lexie and the ghost of Denny. "Just keep the talking to a minimum. Short. Short little nuggets of Meredith. That's all anyone really needs. And if you start to get stuck just smile. You've got a really a great smile."
Meredith practices her smile with the two.
"Oh that's just scary," ghost Denny says to Izzie.
"Uh, Mer," Izzie says to the blonde. "Are you sure you want to wear your hair like that?"
*
Cristina has to do a double look to make sure she's looking at the same Meredith and Derek is surprised when he sees her different hair style.
"Your wearing an alarming high pony tail," Derek comments as he stuffs his hands in his white lab coat.
"Your mother is coming," she states the obvious.
He knew that she was nervous about the meeting and wanted to make a good first impression and although he felt like she was overdoing it, he stayed quiet. Whatever helped her feel better about meeting his mom, he had to be okay with.
*
"Is it true that your patient is an inmate?" Alison asked her person as she handed him a coffee. He needed it after all, being up since 2:30 in the morning.
"Thanks," he took it and began to drink not realizing how much he actually needed it until now. "Yeah. He's a pain in my ass too. And Meredith is getting on my nerves."
"Uh oh. Trouble in paradise?" She teased as they walked through the hallway and she rubbed her bump when she felt a hard kick. When she walked she couldn't even see her feet anymore. Mark had to clip her toenails since she couldn't reach them. He made her an appointment at her favorite nail spa because there was no way in hell he could paint her nails and have them actually look descent. Sure, he had a knack for making women look and feel their best, but nail polish? That was where he drew the line.
"Not normally. But when it interferes with my decision making as a surgeon, that's when I have a problem with her."
"I get it," Alison nodded her head thoughtfully. "Your the surgeon, she's the resident. Your advice should go above hers."
"Exactly. See, I knew you would understand," he let out a sigh that finally someone other than Cristina got it.
"At the same time though-"
"And here I thought you were gonna agree with me," he said sarcastically and shook his head with a smile on his face still. "You were my best friend first," he pouted.
"I'm still your best friend, Der. How are residents and fellows ever supposed to be confident in their own decision making as surgeons themselves if the surgeons don't give them that room to do that?"
"So what your saying is..."
"Maybe consider either with this patient or the next letting the residents make the decision on what to do. You can still either agree or disagree with their decision but give them a little more room. You know? Arizona is doing that with me..."
"I should have remembered Doctor Kenley didn't do that for you. He was a horrible coworker and I'm sorry you had to go through that bullying," he shook his head. "I don't want to be like how he was but at the same time, Ali, you don't know this patient. The things he's capable of. It would send shivers down your spine if you knew the crimes he's committed and how manipulative he is. I'm trying to protect Mer and she doesn't get it."
"Then tell her that, Derek," Alison stopped walking and turned to him and put her hands on his shoulders making him look at her. She knows now how serious this is and that now is not the time to let Meredith be making these kinds of decisions. "She should understand that and appreciate you if you tell her exactly what you told me. I gotta get to my department but I love you," she kissed his cheek and walked off leaving him in his thoughts.
*
Alison had changed out her badge reel last night to having a mickey mouse face that had dark blue glitter on it, a white bow, and a picture of Peter, Wendy and her two brothers flying in the night sky. Since it was Peter Pan theme and she worked in Peds it was very fitting. She normally didn't wear her name badge anymore since having the white lab coat, but since Olivia had made it for her, she wanted to wear it.
"I like that," her patient, whose name was Ariana pointed to her badge reel.
"Thank you," Alison smiled at the three year old. "I like it too."
Ariana giggled as she laid back against the hospital bed.
"How are you doing today, Ari?" Alison asked her. She was having surgery today and was currently in the hospital bed with an IV in her arm and a hospital gown.
"I hurt," she pouted.
"I know. I'm sorry," Alison told her. "But you know what? After your surgery the pain will go away. You might be sore a few weeks but that's just because it's from the surgery. Does that sound good?"
What was a nice change about the Peds floor with the hospital gowns, they weren't just normal hospital gowns. Samantha Josephs had come up with super hero gowns and princesses or any other character from movies/tv shows that the kids loved. Ariana was currently in a Belle from Beauty and Beast hospital gown and it made her day.
"Yeah," Ariana looks up at her surgeon with a smile on her face.
"It sounds really good," Ariana's mom teared up a little and Alison gave her hand a reassuring squeeze that it will all work out. "Thank you, Doctor Anderson."
"It's what we're here for," Alison smiled and left to go talk with Arizona about the plan of surgery for Ariana.
Arizona was a breath of fresh air for Alison so far. She was sure she had her short comings, they all did. Even Alison did. But the fact that Arizona gave her space to learn and grow as a surgeon was more than Alison could ever ask or hope for. She wasn't sure how she could ever repay Richard for hiring her. And Arizona's shoes had Alison cracking up laughing all the time. If she weren't pregnant she would want some too.
*
Alison was munching on some flaming hot cheeto's as she was walking through the hallway with her fiancé. Mark went to grab one because even though he was still sick, they were his favorite snack. Alison's too but especially while she was pregnant.
"Mark," Alison pouted slightly as he took more of a handful of her cheeto's and munched on them.
"Sorry," he said with a mouthful of them as he swallowed once he was done chewing and gave her a guilty smile. "I'll buy you more?" He told her but it came out more like a question.
Alison all of a sudden had tears in her eyes welling up and she kissed his cheek as she stood up on her tip toes.
"That is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me," she said crying a little.
Mark would have laughed if he weren't so used to her emotions changing so rapidly during this pregnancy.
During pregnancy, Alison would rarely get mad, if anything she would get more emotional and cry about certain things she normally wouldn't. Like the other day when Mark was driving and she saw a family of white geese walking along the grass and they had their babies with them. Alison started bawling her eyes out and then Mark felt bad so he got her favorite meal from Chipotle.
If Alison were being honest, even though she loved being pregnant, now she was over it.
Yes, she tried to exercise daily, and that helped a lot with her overall attitude about gaining baby weight. But she was just tired now of being pregnant and wanted the little guy to come out so they could meet him.
Alison's mom was arriving tomorrow and they would be getting everything ready tonight for her in the guest room. Since she would be thirty-six weeks pregnant next week, Alison's mom Madelyn, would be staying with them for at least a couple weeks just to help the new parents adjust. The rest of Alison's family would be coming too but they would be staying at a hotel close to the hospital. Her brothers would only be staying a few days and her dad only a week.
*
"What's the problem?" Callie asks her patient who was sitting in the hospital bed.
"A little infection from a little surgery I had done," the patient began but his brother interrupted him.
"In Hong Kong," the brother spoke up which peaked Callie's interest. "My crazy ass brother went and got crazy ass elective surgery in Hong Kong," the shorter brother groaned in frustration as he laid his head back on his pillow and closed his eyes. "Who does that?!"
"Short people," the brother says upset. "Desperate short people. I had my legs lengthened. I couldn't find a surgeon who would do it here."
"Look, it's barbaric," his brother says to the surgeon who still has yet to say something. "They broke his legs and hooked him up to some kind of Medieval torture device."
"Yeah, that's to pull the bones apart," Callie tells the brother as she was familiar with this procedure. "That's the lengthening process. It's a controversial procedure. I don't perform it myself. Can I take a look?" She asks her patient.
She lifted the blankets and his brother couldn't even look while she was in shock by the state of his legs.
"They said it would give me two whole inches," he tried to justify why he got the procedure.
*
"Any word from UNOS?" Jackson's mom asked Richard as Miranda, Alex, Sadie and another intern were with them as well.
"Not yet," Richard tells her. "Doctor Karev is staying in constant contact with them."
Alex nods his head in confirmation.
"How much longer will we have to wait? Are livers and intestines hard to find?" The mom asks worried.
"Jackson's blood type is O positive," Sadie speaks up for the first time. But Miranda doesn't like this and as she turns around she gives the blonde a look. "Shouldn't be too difficult to match."
"But he's had blood transfusions which means there could be extra antibodies that are hard to match so we need to be patient, Melinda, in the meantime, I need to run some tests on Jackson to check his electrolytes."
"We're going to do everything we can to help your son, Mrs. Prescott," Richard reassures Jackson's mom. "All of us."
They all begin to go their separate ways but as soon as Sadie thinks she's in the clear, Miranda stops her and not with a happy look on her face.
"You," she calls out to the blonde making her turn to face her. "Your squirrely."
"I'm sorry?" Sadie asked confused.
"I don't trust you. I don't trust you in this hospital and I certainly don't trust you with my patient of three years who is extremely important."
"I-" but Miranda cut her off.
"If you want to stay on this case you will stay out of my way. You will do what I tell you. If you have something to say to or about my patient you will raise your hand and wait to be called on," Miranda said sternly.
"You've got to be kidding me," Sadie said thinking it was a joke at first but then realized how serious Miranda Bailey was. Then raised her hand with some hesitation.
"Yes?"
"This is a joke, right?" Sadie asked.
"Do I look like I'm laughing?" She said then left.

"Oh Mark honey," Derek's mom beamed once she saw the blonde and Mark walking. Though Mark had taken the day off, he came over to have lunch with Alison. "And Alisonnn!"
They stopped in their tracks and turned around at the sound of the familiar voice they both knew and loved.
"Mama Shepherd," Alison smiled at the older woman and began to walk toward her as Mark followed in her foot steps. "How are you?" She asked as she hugged her with her bump being the thing in the way to keep her distance.
"I'm good," she smiled at the blonde and then looked down at her stomach. "And you look very big!"
Alison let out a laugh. She didn't even take offense to Carolyn's comment because she knew she wasn't trying to be rude.
"I am. I'm thirty-five weeks now," she said softly with a quiet tone. "He's kicking up a storm lately."
"And Mark honey, how are you?"
"Oh hanging in there. I can't believe Derek didn't tell us you'd be here!"
"Well, are you guys busy tonight? I would love to get together with you both and catch up. I also have something for the baby but I didn't bring it."
"Aw, you didn't have to get the baby anything," Alison said as her head tilted to the side. "But thank you! If you aren't doing anything with Derek and Meredith tonight we would love to get together with you."
"Good," Mama Shepherd smiled. "It's settled then. Is there a place that you are craving in particular, Alison?"
"I actually know the best pizza place. Are you good with pizza?"
"Pizza sounds great," Carolyn smiled. "What time do you both get off?"
"We finish early since today's surgery day for the both of us. We get off at three."
"Well, would four o'clock work for you both?"
"Sounds great! We'll see you then Carolyn," Alison says as she gives Carolyn a side hug and then Mark gives her a big hug.
"And you take care of her," Carolyn warns Mark with a smile on her face.
*
Meredith was pushing her patient down the hall in the gunnery when he spoke up.
"Your upset," he pointed out.
"I don't get upset with patients."
"Your mad at me for killing those women. I get that. Would you feel differently if you knew I was beaten as a child? Every day. It's how I learned to read. I used to hide under the sink and sound out the letters on the detergent box."
"Is that true?" She asked him.
"Did it make you feel better? Whatever helps you sleep better at night, Doctor Grey," William tells her.
"Cool," Jackson comments as he sees the handcuffs on the patient as Doctor Bailey pulled up close to Miranda. "Did you do something bad?"
Miranda gives him a look of warning and he notices it before he speaks up.
"Traffic violation."
The elevator dings and Meredith makes a hand motion to Miranda and allows her to go in as she lets her know she will get the next one.
"What's wrong with you, kid?" William yells out to Jackson as Miranda goes into the elevator with him.
"I need a new liver and a new intestine," he says.
"Yeah? You want mine?" William asks as he gives a wicked grin and Miranda looks frightened.

Alison had just finished up surgery on Ariana as she had pulmonary sequestration. Alison had to go in a remove the pulmonary sequestration in order to help Ariana have a better quality of life. It wasn't a life-threatening problem that Ariana had, but it could eventually cause other health problems as well and for that reason, Ariana's parents thought it would be best to have the surgery.
She was now scrubbing her hands clean from the surgery and Ariana was moved into a recovery room.
Whenever Alison was in surgery, she always took off her jewelry but during surgery, she wore a silicone engagement ring during surgery and eventually her and Mark would get wedding rings to wear.
It was just a pack of plain different colored ones that Alison had found one day on Amazon while she was shopping for them so she switched out the colors based on her mood. Today, she decided to wear a dark grey color.
"Hey, thanks for helping today in there, Tyler," Alison told the nurse as he passed by her in the hallway after he had also scrubbed his hands.
"Oh no problem," he gave her a kind smile. "Thanks for asking me to help."
"I like to have people in the OR room with me who I know I can trust and you're one them. Besides, Ariana told me before the surgery how much she loved whenever you came into her room. Her mom said it would brighten her day."
"She's a little cutie," Tyler let out a small laugh. "Speaking of kids, how are you doing with yours?"
"Doing okay," she smiled. "Honestly though, I'm just ready for him to come out."
"I bet," he smiled at her softly. "I have to go do some charting but I'll see you around. Thanks again, Alison," he told her and began to walk away.
"See you, Tyler," she gave him a small wave.

"Are you in the north terminal?" Derek asks on the phone as he wasn't sure what happened to his mother. "Well, that's where she's supposed to be. No, no, don't go anywhere. Wait-" Derek said into his cellphone but then he felt a familiar hand on his shoulder and turned around. "Never mind, I found her. You know there's a town car waiting for you at the airport?" Derek asks his mom.
"I don't need a fancy car. I just stopped on the bus and saved you some money," Carolyn told her only son.
"So this cruise? You just happen to have a layover in Seattle?" He asks as they begin to walk and he didn't believe that excuse.
"Well, I've always wanted to check out the space needle. I understand you can see Mount Rainier from the top."
"Anything else you want to check out?" Derek asked.
"You gonna take me or not?" She asked with a smile on her face.
"I've got back to back surgeries, Ma," he said with a smile. "You gotta give me a little more notice."
"Yeah, I gave birth to five doctors. I know the drill. I can wait. Meet your colleagues. I've already seen Mark and Alison. She looks amazing by the way. Told me we were going to go out to dinner later at a pizzeria."
"Yeah, she's really happy," Derek smiled at the thought of his best friend. "Oh perfect timing," he said as soon as he spotted Meredith and wrapped his arm around her. "Mom, this is Meredith," he introduces the two most important women in his life (other than Alison too, of course).
"Meredith, finally!" Carolyn smiles big and Izzie stands behind Carolyn motioning for Meredith to smile which alarms Derek.
He's never seen her smile this much.
"Hi," she greets Derek's mom.
"My son has been acting like a dog with his favorite bone hiding you away," Carolyn tells Meredith as she brings her in for a hug. "I hope you're free for lunch. I can't wait to dive in and find out all about you," she says excited while Meredith looks terrified.
"Mer looks weird," Izzie says as she walked up to Alex over at the nurses desk. "Does she look weird to you?"
"She looks like she's gonna pee her pants," Alex comments.
"Oh crap. I made her hydrate."
"Meeting the family always blows. Never make me do that," Alex tells Izzie then leaves.
"Me either," ghost Denny tells Izzie. "One of the many perks for dating a dead guy," he says sarcastically with a sense of humor. If Alison could hear him or see him, she would have laughed at his comment. She missed Denny.
*
"What's wrong?" Alison asked Miranda when she saw her staring off into space.
"Shepherd's patient said he would give Jackson his organs," Miranda told the blonde.
"The prisoner?! Thought they weren't allowed to speak to other patients."
"They're not," Miranda spoke grumpily. "But he did. Now Jackson wants them."
"Hell no he can't have them," Alison said with determination. "I love Jackson which is why I would never okay him to have an evil man's organs. He's too pure for this world."
"That's exactly what I think. Problem is how am I going to tell Jackson that without saying he was an evil man who did evil things?"
"You'll figure it out," Alison tells the resident with a soft smile as she rubs her bump in comfort. "You always do."
"It's a good thing there's laws in place for situations like this," Miranda said feeling heartbroken and upset all at the same time as she let out a huff and shook her head.
*
"Why can't I have that nice man's organs? He offered," Jackson asked Miranda as she was checking over his vitals.
"You know how in school there are rules you have to follow?" She asked taking off her stethoscope and wrapping it around her neck. "Well, same goes for here. We have to follow the rules or else we get in big trouble. And what that man offered you was definitely against the rules."
"She's fighting with the insurance people again," Jackson says as he watches his mom on the phone and Miranda turns to look at her.
"Your not supposed to worry about stuff like that," Miranda tells him.
"Tell her something good today," Jackson asks the surgeon. "Even if nothing good happens. She needs good news."
*
"Your overstepping, Grey," Alison tells the resident who looks at her like she's trying to hide a secret.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Your telling me that you're patient doesn't want to kill himself so that he can help save Jackson's life just so that he can die a little easier knowing that he can right his wrongs? It doesn't work that way."
Instead of letting Meredith answer back to her, she leaves, not wanting to hear any sympathy Meredith might have for her patient.
*
"The infection has made its way deep into the bones so we're gonna have to take the rods out of your legs," Callie tells her patient.
"And clean out the dead infected skin and bone," Mark tells him.
"You mean I won't get my two inches?!" Chuck asks upset. "All that pain for nothing."
"Mr. Ruben, at this point your lucky to keep your legs at all," Mark tells him.
"That's easy for you to say," Chuck says. "5'10, 5'11..."
"Leave the doctors alone, Chuck," Gary tells his brother. "They're trying to help."
"Oh shut up, Gary," Chuck lashes out. "You are over six feet tall! Do you have any idea to know what it's like to have everybody you know to literally look down on you? Or how humiliating it is to have to ask for help from a teenager at the grocery store? Because you can't reach the top shelf at a grocery store. I've gone on two dates in the last six months. Both with women I met over the internet and hey no one wants to see me again because no one wants to date a short guy! I wanted those two inches, Gary. I wanted them so bad."
"It's two inches," Gary tries to reason. But he can't get through to him. "What's the difference between five three and five five?"
"5'5 you can say out loud," he said sound down and his brother looked at the surgeons in concern.
*
It wasn't until an hour or so later that Mark saw Mama Shepherd again. And he decided right then and there to confide in her with all his worries for this baby. Don't get him wrong. He was excited to have a mini me but at the same time having to take care of another life scared the living hell out of him.
"What's really troubling you?" Carolyn asked almost as she had a sixth sense.
Even though her babies were all grown adults she could tell when something was bothering them. And that included Mark. She loved him even though betrayed Derek's trust by sleeping with his ex-wife. But if Derek could forgive him then so could she. Hell, she helped raise the man.
"I'm scared as hell to raise this baby. What if my son hates me? When he grows up he'll think I'm his grandpa..." Mark laid all his worries onto Carolyn as she listened to him.
"Mark - I want you to listen to me."
"Yes ma'am," he let out croak and a cough as he wasn't sure where that came from.
"Now you listen here, Mark Everett Sloan," Carolyn told him with a stern voice as she looked at him in his baby blue eyes. "You are going to be a great father. I know that you are afraid of messing up like your parents did but you are not a photo copy of them. You might share their same last name but that doesn't mean you will turn out to be exactly like them. You hear me?"
"Yes ma'am," he nods his head as she held onto his cheeks. "Thank you. I needed that."
"Good," she smiled softly and relaxed in her tone of voice. "You needed someone younger like Alison to match your personality. Let's be honest, Mark. You act like a teenager. And she's not that much younger. She's only a couple years younger than Derek. You two make a lovely couple."
"Thank you, Carolyn. You have no idea how much your approval means to me."
"Your welcome. I'm looking forward to dinner with you both."
"We are as well," he gave her a smile and a hug. "We'll have to show you his nursery after dinner."
"Please do," Carolyn smiled and then walked away to go meet Meredith.

The snack cart was going around the hospital right now and Alison was determined to get some things from it.
She grabbed a three musketeers, Twix and some chips from there.
"Cravings?" The healthcare worker asked the surgeon.
"Like you wouldn't believe," she tells her already opening the three musketeers. "Thank you!" She smiles at them and goes back to her office.
Mark was standing there as he leaned against the doorway with his arms crossed. He had an amused smile as he just watched his fiancé indulge in all three snacks in less than four minutes.
"Hungry?" He smirks at his fiancé as she jumped since she was startled.
Her heartbeat racing as she put a hand to her heart to calm down her heart rate.
"Damn it, Mark," she hissed as she swatted his arm. "Don't scare me like that!"
"Sorry," he grinned and sat down in a chair next to his fiancé. They still hadn't really worked out wedding details yet but Mark was okay with that for now. He hoped though that eventually they could but they were just trying to go through one step at a time. He at least knew that Alison didn't want to be pregnant when she would be a bride. "How are you and our baby doing?"
"We're doing good," she smiled as she rubbed her stomach. "He's been moving around a lot today during my surgery."
"Think he'll be a surgeon when he grows up?" He asked her as he put his hand on her belly and after a few minutes he felt a kick to his hand.
"What made you think of that?" She let out a laugh.
"I don't know," he shrugs his shoulders. "It's just...since its the last few weeks of your pregnancy, it has me thinking what he will be like once he comes out. Who he's gonna look like..."
"I hope he has your eyes," she tells him with a dreamy look in her eyes. Here fiancé was so good looking and he was all hers. How did she get so lucky?
"Nu uh," he shakes his head. "I hope he has your eyes and my nose."
"Your nose?" She let out a snort.
"It's a good Sloan nose," he defended himself acting hurt.
"Sure honey," Alison laughed and leaned forward to kiss him as they made out and he leaned closer towards her as she sat in her chair.
"Get a room," Doctor Cooper joked with the couple as he came into the office.
He was also a fellow and got along really good with the couple. Mark understood him like no one else because he was a play boy and didn't want to be tied down to one girl. He knew Mark used to be the same way until he met Alison.
"We had a room," Mark bit back jokingly. "Until you cockblocked us."
"Mark," Alison swatted her hand against his bicep and he let out a loud laugh.
*
Peds had a drug rep vendor come in today and he alerted all the staff that he had brought Chick Fil A and Alison made a dash into the break room. She was able to beat the front desk people as well as the nurses. Alison snatched the bag that had the nuggets, cookie and chips in them. She had forgotten to bring a lunch but the nuggets was something that she was craving ever since Jon (the drug rep) told her he had it for lunch. Her cravings were all over the place.
She went to meet Derek in the cafeteria. After mama Shepherd left, Mark did as well to go home and get some rest.
"You got a rep to come to Peds, didn't you?" Was the first thing out of Derek's mouth when he spotted his best friend.
"Maybe," she smirked and sat down next to him as he pulled out the chair for her. She thanked him and began to pull out her food.
"Who was it this time?" He asked in reference to the rep.
"Jon," she told him and laughed when she saw the look on his face.
"He brings all the best food," he whines. "Neuro reps never bring that good of food."
It was true. Peds got all the best food when reps came to visit. She's gotten Chick Fil A, Chipotle, food from the Mexican restaurant near the hospital. The list goes on.
"That's not true. You got Culver's once," she pointed out as she began eating her nuggets plain. She normally ate them with the Polynesian sauce but since getting them from the reps she ate them plain.
"Yeah," he scoffed and shook his head as he ate his sandwich. "Once."
"You guys get the best state of the art equipment you need for surgery so I don't wanna hear it," she told him as she happily ate her nuggets. "Fine," she let out a sigh. "You can have some."
She very cautiously brought her nuggets toward Derek and he got one.
"Thank you," he told her as he popped it in his mouth. "So good," he let out a moan.
"Right?"
"What's this I hear that you and Meredith are arguing over a patient?" Alison asked as she heard about the rumors going on through out the morning.
Sometimes working in a big hospital was really annoying because word spread like wildfire whenever something happened.
"She's deciding to go against all of my orders," Derek said with frustration without saying it was an inmate patient. "It's ridiculous."
Alison shook her head. She liked Meredith, she did. But with Derek's personality and Meredith's personality when they worked together with patients it could either go very bad or very good. And it seemed like right now it was going very bad. All she knew was that she wouldn't want to be in Meredith's shoes right now.
"You just have to remind her that this is very different circumstances. This is an inmate patient we're talking about..."
"I just don't want this patient to brainwash her. With how vulnerable Meredith can be sometimes," he shook his head. "This patient is dangerous, Alison."
Alison was worried for her person and put her hand on top of his for comfort.
"You want the rest of my chicken nuggets?" She asked trying to lighten the mood and he let out a big laugh as his head tilted back.
"Can I have two more?" He asked.
"Take whatever you want..."

"Neither of you listen to Izzie when it comes to relationship advise, alright?" Alison tells the two residents who stare at her like a deer in a headlight. How did she know? "She gives horrible advice. I mean what is up with that high pony tail? Smiling? And you," she says to Cristina. "You are an intelligent surgeon. Don't try to dumb it down because Izzie tells you to. You two need to have more self-respect for yourselves and be yourself. If Derek and Owen don't like you for you, then screw them. But I know Mama Shepherd and if you show her the real you then she will have more respect for you."
She had seen all morning long from afar how Izzie had influenced the two residents and she finally couldn't take it anymore. Izzie Stevens was the last person anyone should take relationship advice from.
"I told you, Mer," Cristina hit her person's arm slightly.
"Izzie Stevens the relationship advice expert? Funniest shit I've heard all day," Alison let out a laugh as she walked away.
After that, Meredith took her hair out of the high pony tail hastily and shook her hair to have it be to her liking. She wiped the fake smile off her face and finally felt herself again.

"Hey Carolyn," Alison hugged Derek's mom again after seeing her the second time today. "Thanks for having dinner with us."
"It's good to see you again, Carolyn," Mark greeted the woman who was like a mother to him. Her opinion meant everything to him and to hear her approval earlier was the best that he had felt in a while. Alison and their little boy were his whole world and he couldn't wait until his mini me was here.
They had ordered their pizza and while she was craving pineapple and ham pizza earlier, right now she was really wanting sausage and pepperoni pizza so that's what she got while Mark and Carolyn shared a supreme pizza.
"I thought you would like to have this," Alison said as she handed Carolyn the latest baby scan.
"Oh my gosh," Carolyn gushed as she looked at the 3D scan. "It's so crazy how you can really see what and who he is gonna look like!"
"I know," Alison smiled as she laid a hand on her big bump.
The picture was so clear and you could see his cute little face perfectly. He looked like he was a perfect mixture between Alison and Mark. Alison couldn't wait to see his eye color and what it would turn out to be. Would they be baby blue like Mark's or would they be hazel like Alison's? What would his personality be like as he gets older? She was so excited for his arrival that his whole nursery was all ready to go. They had her hospital bag things they just hadn't put it all together yet but they would be doing that this weekend or at least try to fit in their schedule this week.
Currently little one was considered overweight and is already eight pounds. If he kept growing anymore she wasn't sure if she could physically give birth to him naturally. Or if she would need a c-section. She was hoping for a natural birth though. One thing she was sure of - if he was anything like his dad, he was gonna be one big baby. And if she were being honest, she was a little nervous thinking about how big her son could get before giving birth.
"Have you guys thought of a name yet?" Carolyn asked as they ate their pizza in-between their talk.
"We have narrowed it down actually and we think we have actually come up with a name for the little one," Alison said as she glanced at her fiancé with a soft smile forming on her face as she thought about her son.
"Well, let's hear them," Carolyn made a gesture with her hand as she laughed and so did the couple.
"Alright, we're thinking between Mason, Everett, Beau, Liam or Mateo. We thought about Jackson but realized how popular that name is becoming and didn't want to name our son the same as everyone else. As far as the middle name goes well, Mark you want to tell her?"
"Yeah," he gave her thigh a squeeze in reassurance. "Christopher."
"Oh Mark and Alison," Carolyn was deeply touched as she laid a hand on her heart. She was sure that the name Christopher had different meanings for the couple. For Alison it was for Derek and for Mark it was for Derek and his dad.
"Is that okay?" Alison asked a little unsure of Carolyn's reaction.
"I would love that," she smiled and nodded her head and wiped a tear away that had fallen down her cheek. "I know Derek and Francis would love that as well."
Now that they had the blessing from Carolyn they felt at ease about using the name. They knew that they didn't need permission as it wasn't a trademark name, but it was a name with so much meaning for all of them and they wouldn't feel right not asking permission.
"If you want my opinion I think either Everett or Mateo are very cute names that would go well with Christopher."
Alison was playing with the ends of Mark's hair at the nape of his neck as they enjoyed their evening with Carolyn. It was always great seeing Carolyn and spending time with her.
They had gone back home to their apartment and showed her around.
