general information ; werewolves have two forms; their wolf form and their human form. they look just like humans except for the markings on their left arm. they can easily hide them with clothes, but it will shine through anything put on the skin on top of the marking. werewolves typically have two markings; one for their pack (a greek symbol variating by packs) and one for their mate (a full moon symbol). the leaders of the packs known universally as alphas for males and lunas for females have an additional marking (the greek alpha symbol α ) which symbolizes their status as the leaders. most packs require their alphas and lunas to be mated, but those that do not require it, will not respect their leaders as much if they do not have their mating bond. a werewolves age span can rival that of a second or third generation vampire, living for roughly 500-750 years old.
mating ; there are no true or decided mates. some packs may force their members to choose specific mates, but for the most part, werewolves have complete freedom. in order to be legally recognized as mates, werewolves have to complete a moon ritual which will create a mate bond between the two parties. without the mating bond, the couple will not be respected and would lose many rights that a proper mated couple may have. the mating ritual requires the pair to spend three days together in isolation, with the second night falling under a full moon. losing or breaking a mate bond results in an extreme feeling of misery or grief in both parties, as if they had lost a part of their soul. mate bonds are able to break or be broken under specific rules and will result in a broken mate marking which results in half of their moon marking to fade. if one party dies, stays away for a prolonged amount of time (a full moon cycle) or goes through a mating ritual with another werewolf. because werewolf culture is all about loyalty, breaking a mating bond is seen as taboo and is looked down upon depending on the situation. werewolves who lost their mates in death typically do not mate with another due to their loyalty to their past mate. mating between a werewolf and a human is rare, but it does happen. not only because werewolves look down on humans, but because they would not be able to have a mating ritual which is detrimental to the reputation of the werewolf as well as their mate.
background information; there is no unified religion between the packs, with many of them being completely different aside from the fact that they are all werewolves. there are, however, some similarities that are universal between all the packs. the importance of mates, the rituals, as well as the idea of having two leaders in the alpha and luna are seen throughout the packs. for the most part, choosing an alpha and luna is all about respect and most packs choose who they want to lead. after passing on the title, alphas and lunas receive the title of elders, while normal pack members typically reach this at the age of 600 (again, it varies between packs). there is only one other title in the packs which stays universal, which is the beta or second in command position. because this position often changes, betas do not gain a marking upon taking their title but just like the alpha and luna, they are typically expected to have a mate.
stereotypes ; they are very loyal to their original pack and do not tend to change packs as vampires do with their covens. vampires have a stigma against werewolves, calling them animalistic or rabid beasts. many packs pressure the mated individuals to have pups shortly after the mating ritual to increase the power which feeds into the stereotype that werewolves are typically family-oriented with many family members and children.
abilities ; they shift once every full moon, but can voluntarily force a shift any time after twilight. they become more erratic and wild during a full-moon shift but are not considered fully 'insane'. on the other hand, they have full control during voluntary shifts. during their shifts, they are especially weak towards silver during their shift, but on normal occurrences it is only a mild reaction. they have the keen senses of a wolf and supernatural strength and agility. there is said to be something intrinsically special about being around pack members that make werewolves calmer, happier, and more energized, as though they were connected by blood. this is heightened for mates, who feel as though they are strengthened by each other's presence. werewolves have the ability to turn people under the full moon while they are shifted, but the human has to be in near-death for the ritual to be successful. it does not occur often and is not encouraged unless the situation is extremely dire. the werewolf is reprimanded for turning a human, but the werewolf changeling is readily accepted into the pack and given the pack marking.

general information ; vampires vary by generation. the first generation is considered the most pure-blooded and the following generations became more and more diluted as they went on. their vampiric powers and weaknesses would become weaker despite the purebloods' efforts to keep their lineage pure. many may speculate that this is because vampires were originally human and each generation heightens their human blood, but most covens believe that the purebloods were born as vampires. vampires are distinguishable from humans or werewolves through their pointy, almost elven-like ears and their physique; most pure-blooded vampires are slender and lithe, with unnatural grace and poise to their supernatural, near-immortal bodies. vampires are not immortal, though they have a lifespan reaching that of immortality. they are also most certainly not invincible and can be killed in various ways. vampires age as humans do until they reach their peak beauty age, which can span from their late teens to their late thirties. from then on, vampires will age at a snail's pace, their beauty lasting centuries and only appearing aged when they are nearing the end of their lifespan (which varies from generation to generation.) due to the vampire's longevity, they also stay fertile for a longer time than humans and werewolves, which complicates generations in terms of age. many of the third and fourth generations will have long age gaps, but still be of the same generation. when a vampire is deprived of blood, their coloration drops to a sickly pale, but vampires still have the same skin tones as humans and can look to be of any ethnicity. a vampires' eyes, when feeding, will turn red and slitted; catlike in a way that's both alluring and unnatural.
background information ; coven leaders are typically of the first or second generation, depending on how long a coven has been existing. the older generations are treated with the utmost respect in most covens and have the most power depending on their specific type of government. many covens house human families to supply blood, though older nobility (such as the coven leaders/elders) can enter a blood contract with a human which would make that human their one and only blood bank. these blood banks are highly prized in every coven, though it is not as common anymore as the younger generations require human blood less and less. there exist two somewhat rare vampire "types" other than the purebloods that are thought of as inferior and lesser versions due to their impurities; changelings and half-bloods. changelings are humans who were turned into a vampire. there exists an old tradition in some covens that blood banks who have fulfilled their side of the blood contract will be turned into a vampire as a reward. a changeling would be of the same generation as their sire/master and are generally taken care of and protected by their family, though they cannot succeed any title. changelings will look identical to their human self, but with any imperfections smoothed out and fixed. half-blooded vampires, on the other hand, are vampires born of the union between a human and a vampire. however, due to the vampire gene being dominant, the offspring always ends up being vampiric in nature. half-bloods are a generation lower than their vampiric parent and receive the same rights as changelings who were accepted into the family (some changelings and half-bloods may not be accepted into a coven, and be forced to live elsewhere.) they look identical to pure-blooded vampires, only without the same svelte physique.
stereotypes ; seductive, more likely to mate with humans than werewolves (due to the fact that there are more humans within vampire territories). vampires value beauty and allure in the same way that werewolves value strength. they are sophisticated, elegant, and they care more about their image than werewolves. it's an unspoken rule that vampires should conduct themselves in an elegant and regal manner befitting of their blood. most have an air of superiority, though this seems to not always be the case. they do not care so much about loyalty as they do respect, and will throw out even close family members in order to keep their image. vampires are typically required to only mate with those in the same generation.
abilities ; all vampires, regardless of what type and which generation, are blessed with supernatural ability and longevity, as well as enhanced beauty which sets them apart from humans and werewolves. they are able to charm people and can enter contracts with humans known as a blood pact. their weaknesses include garlic, sun, stakes, and crosses. for the first and second generation, these are considered fatal. any amount of these weaknesses will always kill their kind, but the later generations suffer less of a reaction towards them and will have weaker abilities in general. for the third and fourth generations, the sun will result in varying degrees of sunburn, garlic will cause a moderate allergic reaction, crosses will cause them to become erratic and anxious, and stakes will cause long-lasting wounds, but would not kill them unless it was aimed at their heart.

general information ; a few human settlements are erected throughout the continent, but they are small in size and they pale in comparison to the covens and packs, leaving them at the werewolves and vampires' mercy. it's simply due to the human lifespan not being long enough that their civilization has not expanded to that of the werewolves and vampires who have had eras and centuries to develop culture and trade. they consist of simple small villages typically around rivers that live peacefully aside from the random visitations they might get from a rabid werewolf during a full moon or a vampire during its deprived state.
vampires ; for the most part, humans in covens are not exactly slaves, but they do not have any rights or respect unless they have the title of blood bank. blood contracts are a consensual and mutually beneficial relationship between a vampire (usually one of high nobility) and a human. though contracts may vary, most humans allow the vampires to drink their blood in return for lodging, riches, protection, and more. blood banks share the same title as their master, though in some covens blood banks are a symbol of power and wealth, as only the older generation truly need them, with the younger generation only craving blood as a delicacy. due to the close relationship between the vampire and the blood bank, they are similar to concubines/consorts or have a familial relationship and are treated with the utmost respect and protected by the family of the vampire just as a changeling vampire would be.
werewolves ; since werewolves are more territorial and have no need for humans as vampires do, humans would not typically be allowed into packs unless they are mated to a werewolf, and even then for them to properly be seen as "mates" the human must first become a werewolf which is not an easy feat to accomplish. the relationship between werewolf packs and human settlements are tense at the least and vicious at the most. they typically do not interact with each other and simply hope not to cross paths. there are still some werewolves who gain interest in these humans, who are mere ants compared to them in strength, and so some relationships occur. thankfully, due to the open-mindedness and loyalty of most wolf packs, humans do not suffer as much when they are accepted into a pack. there is still prejudice and they are treated as though they are fragile glass most of the time.
stereotypes ; werewolves believe humans to be powerless and easy to kill. many human settlements have been ravaged by packs in the past, which makes many humans fear werewolves and makes it unlikely for them to interact with packs, much less mate with werewolves within them. vampires, on the other hand, understand the importance of humans but still look down on them as weak cattle for their consumption. in covens, humans are used for their blood and their labor but they are paid a living wage and have some of their expenses paid depending on which family feeds on the human the most.

general information ; because vampirism and lycanthropy are both dominant genes, when those two species combine with a human the resulting offspring end up being vampires/werewolves respectively. the royal family is the first "true hybrid" known to ever exist within the kingdom as the genes between the vampires and werewolves combined. not much is known about hybrids due to their rarity, however, the royal family has shown that hybrids tend to favor and identify with one side of their genetic mix when growing up.
abilities ; there are not many known abilities for hybrids, but the ones that they have observed from the royal children are that they have the abilities of vampires a generation below their mother (gen. three) and they have abilities of a normal werewolf. hybrids may subconsciously exhibit more characteristics of the side they favor, whether that be the vampire or werewolf side of their genetic makeup.
