Before You Read
Hello! Welcome to "The Boy Who Loved"!
(alternate cover by myself)
————————————————————
Before we begin our story, I thought it'd be best to provide you, the reader, with some background information as to why our story focuses on the boy who loved, Charlie Hawthorne.
Charlie has been a character that I have dreamt up in my head for quite a white now and I wanted to share him with the world. His family's past was very much inspired by what I believed to be a mixture of Draco Malfoy and Neville Longbottom, which will he explained more as you scroll down.
However, I just wanted to preface this whole story by saying that I will be using scenes from the books and movies, but will also be adding in some of my own scenes.
A lot of Charlie's story will depend on "what ifs" — especially when it comes to his whole family dynamic — so if you are someone who has to throw logic into every little detail, just be warned!
Without further or do, this is Charlie Hawthorne:

BACKSTORY:
During the 1950s, Albus Dumbledore fell for a girl named Florence Welch (both are purebloods in this story). Albus and Florence were inseparable and their relationship was absolutely beautiful.
By 1959, Florence became pregnant with Albus' daughter, Julianne Grace Dumbledore. The three of them lived a happy and loving life until around the time where Julia was turning six years old. Around this time would be where Dumbledore admitted to himself that he was in fact, gay.
At first, it was a difficult thing for Florence to process, but she soon realized that she didn't want to deprive her daughter of a relationship with her father. Naturally, Albus and Florence would co-parent and live harmoniously. Until that too, was short lived...
In the year of 1971, Albus Dumbledore had only been Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for eight years. Florence had also worked at Hogwarts as the Charms Professor, and Julia had been in her second year of Hogwarts and even joined the Gryffindor Quidditch team as a Chaser.
Everything seemed great, and then suddenly, when one of her own spells went horribly wrong, Florence died a horrible and tragic death, leaving Albus and Julia to grieve the loss of their loved one.
At first it was really hard, but things eventually got easier. A big part of the reason why Julia was able to come to terms with her mother's death was thanks to the help of her close friends: Lily Evans, James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew.
Fast forwarding through her years at Hogwarts, Julia went on to become a well-respected Auror and a member of the original Order of the Phoenix, as her dad was the leader. When she wasn't helping the Order devise a plan to defeat the Dark Lord, Julia was reconnecting with an old flame from Hogwarts, Fenwick Alfred Hawthorne — a Slytherin pureblood and undersecretary to the Minister of Magic, Millicent Bagnold.
Julia fell head over heels in love with Fenwick, but when it came to introducing him to her father, things didn't go as planned. Dumbledore felt that there was something very off about his daughter's new lover, almost as if he was pretending to be someone he wasn't...
With complete disregard towards Albus' worries about Fenwick, however, Julia decided to marry him in secret. A couple months after their marriage in late 1979, Julia would fall pregnant with Fenwick's child and give birth to Charles Florent Amadeus Hawthorne on July 30th of 1980.
This would qualify Charlie as the one to possibly referred to in the prophecy as being destined to bring about Voldemort's end. However, Voldemort chose to target the Potters based on the simple fact that Harry was a half-blood like himself, thus marking Harry, and not Charlie, as his equal — this was yet to be revealed.
One night, after getting into a heated argument with her husband, Julia would flee to London with Charlie and look to start a new life away from the war that was going on. However, because of Julia and Charlie's ties to the potential defeat of Voldemort, they were tracked down by Death Eaters and taken into captivity.
Bellatrix LeStrange, Antoni Dolohov, and Fenrir Greyback were instructed to torture Julia with the Cruciatus Curse in attempt to get answers, while someone would deliver Charlie to the Dark Lord. However, since Voldemort didn't choose Charlie for the prophecy, it is assumed that the young boy was returned home...
Fenwick, who was believed to be searching to reconcile with his wife and be a father to Charlie, was shocked to have his son be returned to him on a random night, with Julia nowhere to be found.
Once Fenwick returned to London with Charlie, the Daily Prophet and many other news outlets were very interested in the potential story behind Julia's disappearance. Therefore, Fenwick would make a statement about his wife's potential death and made it known that the last "gift" that she had left him was Charlie.
After about month of countless searching, someone would stumble upon Julia's body in the Forbidden Forest. Then, through further examination, it would be assumed that Julia had committed suicide. However, when Albus Dumbledore found out his daughters fate, he knew that there was more to the story —
Albus knew that something about the story that Fenwick was selling to the Daily Prophet was false. However, now with the revelation of his daughter providing him with a grandson before her passing, Dumbledore swore that Charlie would never face the same fate as his daughter.
Therefore, Albus devised a plan to make Fenwick think that this hatred between them had subsided, in hopes that Fenwick would allow him to be apart of Charlie'a life. Naturally, the plan would work and Albus would become a very prominent figure in his grandson's life, and for a while, Albus would help Fenwick raise Charlie, keeping the promise of protecting his grandson no matter the cost.
Then, by the time Charlie was four years old, Fenwick would become the Minister of Magic after being promoted to the position by Millicent Bagnold. Due to his job, he would never really be around. Charlie would be raised by Dumbledore and live at the Hogwarts castle throughout the entirety of his childhood. Due to this, Charlie would inherit a lot of his grandfather's characteristics. He quickly became a very wise, empathetic, patient, courageous, loyal, intelligent, and charming young boy.
Since Charlie lived at Hogwarts for most of his youth, he would naturally develop very strong relationships with the castle ghosts, the professors and staff, and some of the older students. Charlie maintained very respectful and loving relationships with Dumbledore's colleagues, especially McGonagall and Hagrid. However, Professor Snape had always disliked Charlie because he knew that if Voldemort had chosen to go after him rather than Harry, Lily would still be alive — again, this was yet to be revealed.
As for Fenwick and Charlie's relationship, Charlie would rarely see his father, causing a shift in their dynamic. However, the young boy would be heavily acknowledged as being Fenwick's son in news outlets such as The Daily Prophet and The Quibbler. Their relationship is very fragile as Charlie was rarely given the opportunity to see his father as anything other than the Minister of Magic —
Charlie misses his father at times, but is aware of the fact that Fenwick's job is very time-consuming and busy. However, all hope is not lost as Charlie remains grateful that he has Dumbledore to be there for him as he grows up.
As the Minister, Fenwick would change and create many laws that many people would either agree or disagree with. He would be considered as one of the most controversial Ministers that the Wizarding World had ever seen, as he tends to subtly remind everyone of pureblood supremacy and why he believes it to be effective.
Naturally, this makes the disconnect in Charlie and Fenwick's father-son relationship more prominent, as Charlie himself, would be raised to be very against pureblood supremacy. However, since he is often linked to supporting his father, people think that Charlie believes in what Fenwick does.
In conclusion, because of his ties to not only the Minister of Magic, but the Headmaster of Hogwarts, Charlie is very well-known around the Wizarding World. However, one thing you should know about the boy who loved is that he hates being the victim of the spotlight as it is often tied to his father, and people use that to misjudge his character.
Which should be interesting as he is about to turn eleven years old and attend his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where people are bound to love him or hate him.

Author's Note:
*this chapter was not proof read*
The story will focus on Charlie's experiences as he attends Hogwarts. I will work hard to develop a very brother-like bond between him, Harry, and Ron. While also trying to create one of the most beautiful love stories between him and Hermione.
The goal is create a story about a boy who has grown up being taught the ways of pureblood supremacy and yet, he falls in love with a highly intelligent, strong-willed, and muggle-born witch...
His love and loyalty for people will set him apart from his friends. He will be the Boy Who Loved.
This story is my outlet to create this ideal character that people can smile with, cry with, and laugh with. I hope you'll enjoy the story, as much as I'll enjoy writing it and if you have any questions or suggestions for the story, please feel free to comment!
Please let me know if you need more clarification on Charlie's backstory, I wrote so much that I feel like I somehow missed something lmfao
Also, if you like the story concept so far, I'd appreciate it if you could vote, comment, and share!
Much love to all of you!
xo, Selena
