e²—'checking on the chicken'

Years pass in a jiffy.

Eventually, the past, has been overcome by the couple, if not forgotten.

Taps of little feet echo through the living area, compelling them pull away from each other hastily. Sitting back in the couch, with running breaths, she rests her back against it, eyes closing to calm down the excited thumps of her heart, while her partner in crime simply grins at their sneaky job of display of affection for each other, in the living room of their house, while their children were busy playing upstairs.

Yep, they'd been blessed with two precious souls as their children. Their purpose for life.

“Mommy, I drew daddy— what's wrong mamma? You're all red!” exclaims the little girl of 4.

“Dumbo SuJinnie! You can't say that aloud! They were loving each other, it's adult things!” a 6 year old SaeJin whispers into his younger sister's ears not-so-covertly.

Blushing heavily at the words of her little ones, Aera clears her throat, hiding her burning red face away from her husband.

“I— the chicken must be ready already, let me check it!” she squeaks out, her voice an octave higher, and scurries out to escape the air of awkwardness.

“But mommy, wait I—”

“Here SuJin-ah, let me see what you've created?” Jin successfully diverts the attention of her daughter from her abashed mother to him.

“Dad! I made you! I used the picture Mom painted of you. Look!” the girl was a big ball of enthusiasm and energy.

Holding up the sketch from the edges of it carefully, he admires the work of his little baby girl. Though the picture contained merely a few awkward angled lines, joining together to form a figure of a human, Jin finds it stunning.

“My little baby girl, this is absolutely, fantastically stunning! Who knew you could be such an artist at such a young age?!”

The little girl gasps, her little, tiny fingers coming to cover across her mouth.
“Really?! You like it Daddy?!”

Jin smiles.

“Of course my baby, it's perfect!”

His daughter grins happily, from ear to ear, on his praises.

“I gotta show mamma!” she squeals, jumping in ecstasy, proceeding to the kitchen.

“Wait baby!”

SuJin stops in her tracks, turning around to face her father again, in confusion.

“Y—you know what? You can make it look even better...”

SuJin's eyes widen. She takes small steps towards him again, her sketch pressed protectively against her chest.

“Really daddy?!”

SeokJin nods.

“But, how?”

SeokJin smiles, asking her to come forward, and cupping his hands around the shell of her tiny ears, he whispers secretly into her ears.

Her big eyes widening again, she nods enthusiastically, agreeing with him.

“Got it my baby?”

“Yes daddy!”

“You can start doing it already, then.”

The girl grins, and placing a kiss on his cheek, scurries upstairs, her artwork still held to her chest.

Alright, one down, or up—wait what? Uh, whatever, one left to go.

He glances at his son, who's small form is lazily spread out on the couch, eyes into one of Jin's cookery magazine, most probably going through the delightful pictures of foods across the world, rather than reading it.

Jin clears is throat, successful in catching his young boy's attention.

“SaeJin baby...”

The boy gets down from the couch, heading to where is dad is sitting.

“Yes daddy?”

Jin lifts his boy up to place him on his lap sideways, resting one hand on his small back, to support his tiny body. The boy looks up at him with big hazel eyes, reminding Jin of Aera every single time he looks into them.

“I was wondering of how you have come to know of something called 'adult things'. Can you tell daddy where you got this information from?”

The little boy's expression changes visibly within seconds, to something unreadable, yet Jin could read it perfectly as the fear of getting scolded, knowing his son like the back of his hand.

“It's not my fault! It was Kookie!” the boy exclaimed.

“Kookie?” He confirmed, surprised.

“Yes, he said it the last time he had come. I told him that you and mommy were in your bedroom, but he said I should not disturb you because you were doing adult things! I did not do anything daddy!” he pouts, his eyes glittering with tears.

“It's okay my baby boy, it's okay...” he hugs his son, the little boy burying his face in his father's chest, “I'll just have to talk to Kookie later on. Maybe give him a piece of my mind, that brat.” he mutters the last part to himself, before pulling away and smiling lovingly at his first born.

“Baby, your sister is all alone upstairs. Can you check on her please? Maybe even help her with her work? I'll get you Kookie later in the evening to play with.” the little boy's face brightened at the sound of Jungkook's name. He nodded, hurrying down from his lap, and up the stairs.

Jin sighed.

Victory!

After the ground floor was clear of any and all innocent eyes and ears, he got onto his feet, marching over to the kitchen, finding Aera seated comfortably on the top of the low fitted counter, happily licking away a classic vanilla ice cream, topped with bits of oreo cookies, the bowl containing the dessert sitting nicely on her swollen belly.

Yep, she was again, pregnant with his child, 5 months and a half months in. And so, it has been quite some time since they had, uh, been intimate. Yeah, which results in an impatient Kim Seokjin.

“My big baby, I suppose this isn't exactly called 'checking on the chicken', am I right?” he chuckled at the scene, leaning against the door frame.

Startled, Aera looks up from her food, blushing again under his gaze.

“And I think I remember taking it out of the oven just before having you on my lap on the couch, hm?” he smirks.

Gulping, the girl sets the bowl aside.

“I—I just wanted to have a glass of water.” she claims.

Smiling sweetly, he leans off the frame, to walk to her. He takes one of her hands in his, the other one going up to stroke her chubby cheek.

“Sweetheart, you know you should've asked me. I don't want you running around, especially in this condition.” he glances down at her belly, emotions hitting him afresh, just like it is the first time.

Their third child was on it's way!

He kneels down in front of her, earning a gasp from her. Placing his palms on her knees, he softly massages them, looking up into her eyes, his eyes shining bright with numerous emotions.

Maintaining the lock of his eyes with her, he leans down to pull up the hem of her shirt upwards with his teeth to reveal her belly. Finally, he starts trailing kisses on the skin stretched beautifully on the shapes of their child growing inside her.

“My little baby fetus, we've been waiting for you to come out to us. I love you so much.” placing one last kiss, he raises his head, to find Aera's eyes glittering with unshed tears. She becomes emotional quite often, an effect of her pregnancy.

“Aw look, mommy is crying! I'll be coming back to you in a while, let me tend to mommy first?” he smiles at her, standing up.

He snakes an arm around her waist, pulling her to his chest carefully.

“What happened honey? Is anything aching? Should I call the doctor?” Jin asks, worried.

The girl just shakes her head left and right, pouting right after, and burying her face in the crook of his neck, not being able to bend enough to wrap own her arms around him.

Pulling away a bit, he smiles at her fondly, before pecking her chastily, and moving back. The girl, craving for more, pulls at his shirt, to kiss him once again, making Jin chuckle at this.

“Wait honey, let's take you somewhere more comfortable.” he picks her up carefully from the counter. “In other words, our bedroom.” he winks suggestively, making her flush red.

“But the kids! Where are they?”

“Shh, I sent SuJin-ah to color in her sketch, while SaeJin-ah is watching on her.”

Carrying her to their room, he sets her down on the bed gently, this time making sure to lock the door behind them to not get disturbed. Coming back to the bed, he hovers over her on his elbows and knees, maintaining a safe distance from her belly.

“What would you like to name the baby, my dear?” he asks, his voice as soft as a whisper.

Aera shrugs, “I think you should do it this time. I had my chance at keeping our girl's name last time.”

He remembers the day she had given birth to their daughter and decided to name her after Jin's long lost sister, SuJin. That day was— it was a very emotional day for them.

Jin smiles. “I know baby, but I want you to tell me what you have in mind.”

Scrunching her nose up, the girl takes a while before replying. “Um—I was thinking of 'Jina', because it has both of us in it, Seok'Jin' and Aer'a', what do you think of this?”

It had been a while since they'd. discovered the sex of their child. It was the second they would be blessed with little baby princess.
Jin grins at the sound of the name decided by his love. He leans down to her belly to press a lingering, affectionate kiss on it, make his wife both giggle and blush adorably.

“Kim Jina it is, then.”

He takes no time before moving up at claiming her lips gently, enveloping them into a passionate kiss, then moving south, traveling his butterfly kisses along her jaw to her neck, and then the collar bone, nibbling here and then. The ticklish girl, giggles at the feeling of his plump lips brushing her skin beautifully, wrapping her arms around his neck, but the giggles abruptly stop when he suck softly at her sweet spot he knows by heart.

Raising his head up to look into her, he grins, finding his wife trying to hide her red face in his chest.

“Aw, is my wifey blushing?” he chuckles.

He dips down close to her face again, mere inches between them, and whispers softly, “I love you, honey. So much.” Leaning closer, he intends to fill up the teasing gap between them—

“Shh kido, this is the 'adult things' I was talking about, now move.”

“But Kookie—”

“No buts babies, now who wants to meet the baby?” the voice start distancing, followed by little gasps.

“Jeongsan?! Me!”

“Me too Kookie!”

“'Kay, kiddos, follow uncle Kook then.”

Taps of little feet skipping away is heard before—

“Hey kids, wait! Let me put a note for your busy parents before we leave!”

And after a few seconds, the sound of the door being shut finally resonates throughout the house, followed by holy silence.

Aera, who's eyes were glued to the door of their room, finally moves them away to Jin, and bursts out laughing at his expression, eyes wide open with some kind of a shock. He finally snaps out of it, at the sound of her laughs, cracking a grin.

The girls pulls him down again, by the neck, to kiss him playfully.

“I love you too, Jagi.”
