"You can't peak!" Atlas scolded as Derek tried to remove his blind fold from over his eyes.
Derek was blindfolded and buckled into the passenger seat of Atlas cute little car, Starlee was buckled up into her carseat in the backseat. And Atlas was in the drivers seat, a very wide grin on his lips.
"Please." Derek whined, he was thinking Atlas was going to surprised him with a bunch of people.
"Five more minutes, there were there." Atlas spoke discreetly as he continued to drive. In no more than a few minutes, Atlas pulled up to the bay where he would drive up onto one of the late night fairy boats. There weren't many cars, which was kinda a good thing. And this ferry boat ride was special.
"We're here. You take the blind fold off." Atlas had already gotten onto the ferry boat and parked the car when he told Derek that.
"You sure?" Derek asked hesitantly.
"Yes, baby." Derek nodded and removed his blindfold, his eyes widening at the mostly empty ferry bait in front of him.
"This is our celebration?" Derek looked to Atlas, Atlas looked to Derek.
"This is it. In the trunk is a picnic basket and a very nice polaroid camera for us to take pictures with." Atlas flashed a toothy smile as he got out of the car and moved to grab Star from her car seat. Derek got out from his seat and grabbed the picnic basket and camera, following after Atlas.
The two sat down across form each other on the cold flooring of the ferry boat — but was still away from the edges.
"You thought I was going to throw you some big party, did you?" Atlas spoke suddenly as he pulled things out of the picnic basket and set them down.
"I, uh, well." Derek stuttered out shyly.
"It's okay, hun." Atlas blew a kiss and started to feed Star some apple sauce that he had packed.
Derek glanced at that polaroid camera before picking it up and swirling around so he would be included in the picture too. He pressed the button and a flash light them up. A buzzing noise followed and then the undeveloped picture slowly made its way out from its place in the camera.
"Why this?" Derek asked as he picked up a cupcake Atlas had made.
"Why what?" Atlas asked in confusion — why the cupcake, why the date, why what?
"Why the ferry boat picnic?" It was a simple question with an advanced answer.
Atlas laughed lightly, his cheeks turning a dusty pink at the thought of why he did this. "I'll tell you later, but right now. Let's enjoy this, ah yeah! It's dadas favourite." Atlas held up a cookie — one of his favourite kinds, chocolate chip with extra chocolate chips.
"Your such a weirdo." Atlas grinned at Derek's words.
"But I'm your weirdo." He stared at Derek with pretty blue puppy dog eyes that sparkled.
"That you are." Derek winked.
Atlas knew early on that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Derek. He knew there was no one else for him. In Atlas's eyes, Derek was his soulmate. His better half. The other half to his heart. His milk to his cookies. Derek was the one and only for Atlas and practically everyone could see it.
That had bumps along the way, and they would continue to have more bumps. But things felt different, it felt as if the stars were aligned.
Buzz. Derek held up a photo with a toothy grin, it was of Atlas staring off into a void. It was a pretty picture and Derek would probably stuff it into his wallet or hang it from his cubby in the attendings lounge.
"Hey." Atlas blinked at the photo Derek was shaking so it would develop. "I don't think that was my good side."
"Your good side, huh?" Derek smirked.
Atlas posed, holding Star in a standing position on his thigh. "See, we're both on our good side." Atlas huffed.
"You two are so cute." Derek told them before he took another picture.
"Okay, okay. That's enough." Atlas reached out to grab the camera, but to his lucky Derek moved it away.
"You little shit." Atlas narrowed his eyes.
"Mwah, I love you." Derek jumped up, grabbing Star and placing her on his hip.
"I love you too!" Atlas called out as he stood up. Atlas watched from afar as Derek pointed things out to Star, who reached out to touch whatever she could.
"I wanna show you something." Atlas spoke suddenly.
"What's that?" Derek twirled around to face Atlas.
Atlas waved him over. "Come on."
The two walked for a little until they reached the front of the ferry boat.
"What are we doing here?" Derek muttered to Atlas.
"This is where we're gonna get married." Atlas exhaled. "Whoever is officiating will stand here. Me and you will stand here and here." Atlas pointed to things all around themselves. "That will be the isle. The guests will stand over there and there."
"I love it." Derek whispered. "You really thought this through."
"I did. I, uh, what it to be perfect for you. And me of course." Atlas added the last four words quickly.
"I have something for you too." Derek lightly grabbed Atlas's hand and pulled him back to the car. Derek handed Atlas Star and went to the back of the car where he dug around for something.
"What's that?" Atlas pointed to the bright red gift bag Derek held.
"It's for you. My gift for you." Derek handed Atlas the gift.
"You didn't have to get me anything." Atlas hadn't opened the gift yet. "Really, I don't need gifts. I just need you and little us."
"Please just open it." Derek pleaded and Atlas nodded.
Atlas sat down in the ground with Star resting comfortably in his lap. Derek sat across from him with the camera in hand.
Atlas reached in and pulled out a jar. A gasp tumbled from his lips and he whipped his head to look at Derek. "You got me a kidney in a jar!"
"I got you a kidney in a jar... I tried to get a heart but Webber said no."
"Thank you, thank you! I love it. I love you and you." Atlas pressed a kiss to Derek lips before pressing a kiss to Stars forehead.
