𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗞𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 Potters leaned slightly closer in interest seeing their family name before glancing at each others skeptically.
Adrasteia Black and Harry Potter : The Philosopher's Stone
The screen flickered showing a dark haired man with striking blue eyes apparating a few yards apart in the narrow moonlight lane, his hair slightly disheveled and a black mask covering his pale face.
While many tilted their heads in confusion, a few recognized the figure and immediately glanced at the suspected boy
The said boy being abolsutely oblivious to the alarmed looks his friends and brother were giving him.
He breathed out softly before looking up and turning right, into a wide driveway that led off the lane. The high hedge curved with him, running off into the distance beyond the pair of impressive wrought-iron gates barring his way. He glanced at the front yard where a pure-white peacock was sturring majestically along the top of the hedge.
"Looks like someone, doesn't it Lucius?" Rabastan mocked only to be shot a deadly glare by the said boy.
A handsome manor house grew out of the darkness at the end of the straight drive, lights glinting in the diamond-paned downstairs windows. Somewhere in the dark garden beyond the hedge a fountain was playing.
"Malfoy Manor." A fifth year Slytherin muttered but was heard loud and clear making some shift uncomfortably.
The Malfoys glanced at each other knowing it was true but said nothing instead had a curious gleam in their distinctive pale grey eyes.
Taking in a deep breath, he walked in the manor, his sapphire blue eyes warily glancing around. The hallway was large, dimly lit, and sumptuously decorated, with a magnificient carpet covering most of the stone floor.
The drawing room was full of silent people, sitting at a long and ornate table. Illumination came from a roaring fire beneath a handsome marble mantel piece surmounted by a gilded mirror.
"It looks like one of those haunted manors." Alice Fortescue mused with a slight terrified expression, her boyfriend, Frank Longbottom gripping her hands in comfort.
The man lingered on the threshold before adjusting to the dimly lit room, the camera zooming towards Rodolphus Lestrange -
"So it is Rabastan, I was right." Regulus commented while nodding along.
Rabastan's eyes going wide as he looked at his movie counter-part and then his friends in horror before letting out a small cheer. ("I am in a movie! It's me!")
who gave him a firm nod and walked inside, the camera panning towards the silhouette of a man sitting directly in front of the fireplace.
As the camera drew nearer, however, his face shone through the gloom, hairless, snakelike, with slits for nostrils and gleaming red eyes whose pupils were vertical. He was so pale that he seemed to emit a pearly glow.
The younger students shrieked and whimpered while the older ones and the to-be death eaters paled drastically seeing the dark lord.
"Rabastan Lestrange, we have been waiting for you." His soft hiss voice like resounded in the room. Rabastan shivered slightly, his breathing escalating but nonetheless settled beside his brother, before bowing his head.
"My Lord?"
Wide-eyed glances were sent towards the said boy who pointedly ignored them and leaned back in his seat but his older brother, Rodolphus and his sister-in-law, Bellatrix seemed rather proud that he indeed joins them in future.
Rabastan has always been detached - in fact too detached - from everyone except his few good friends. He knew this was coming and he was well prepared for it. But his eyes unconsioulsy fell on his close friend, Azalea who frowned and stared at him with an unrecognisable expression.
Evan and Regulus too looked her way, their resolve wavering because she was their friend in some way too, having a love-hate relationship. Azalea was always there in their ups and down. Joining hands with Voldemort meant betraying her trust.
"I am sure you are aware of what your traitor of a friend has done?" It was not a question and he knew it. "Regulus Black, was it?"
"What did you do, Regulus?" Bellatrix's voice stern and vicious as her eyes flashed towards her favorite cousin - not that she would admit it - dangerously.
"How the fuck am I supposed to know? I don't remember having a free pass to see the future everyday, you know." The black haired boy retorted, a sarcastic smile on his face, not the least bothered by the scene going on unlike his friends who shared worried glances.
Rabastan paled and opened his mouth to speak but no words came out and chose to look down on his lap with clenched fists. The dark Lord hummed in disapproval before standing up and addressed everyone.
"Regulus Black betrayed me."
"WHAT?" Whispers and cries of outrage broke out in the great hall as everyone glanced at the frozen silver-eyed boy.
"You actually betrayed him?" Sirius looked at his baby brother in disbelief while Aurora fidgeted uncomfortably, feeling a small twinge of fear for Regulus.
"And I can guess why too." Evan spoke, swinging his legs under the table, eyes following the nervous noriette.
The camera momentarily showed Bellatrix Lestrange and Narcissa Malfoy who were staring ahead blankly, no trace of emotion on their faces, which was a surprise seeing how Bellatrix usually had the psychotic gleam in her grey eyes.
"He is no family of mine." Bellatrix said with a clenched jaw as her eyes burned holes on the table with venom dripping from her voice.
Regulus winced slightly at the words while Narcissa's eyes turned glassy but the curly psychotic woman stared blankly, her eyes blazing in anger and betrayal just like her movie counter-part.
"Yes, yes and now he shall pay for the consequences of his actions-
Sirius felt his heart skip a beat as he looked down at his lap, absolutely worried and terrified for his younger brother. He truly didn't want anything to happen to his younger brother who he had failed miserably.
"I want him. I couldn't care less whether it is dead or alive. What I care about is his little secret, his precious little daughter and the prophesied child, Adrasteia Black."
"I have a daughter?" Regulus mumbled faintly, a small smile curving up on his lips while Aurora grinned nervously, somewhere both of them hoping that it was with each other.
"That's not the point right now. The problem here is that your daughter is the prophesied child and I suppose it wouldn't bring any good." Cygnus Black reprimanded, his eyes gleaming with slight worry.
The once supporters of dark lord in the Black family immediately sat up alerted, their faith and believe falling drastically at the thought of their future heiress.
"As it seems, he had placed his daughter under a fidelius charm. We have been trying to find him for a month and yet all of you have failed me." He snarled as everyone looked down in shame.
"Not to worry.." he trailed off as a malicious smirk formed on his lips.
The camera zoomed back towards a trembling Rabastan. "My god-daughter. No.."
"YES I AM THE GODFATHER!" Rabastan jumped and grinned widely while Evan sulked and glared at the blue eyed boy who was brimming with joy and happiness.
"I see how it is." He snarked, looking at Regulus who merely shrugged and sent him a playful smile.
"I have a good news for all of us today, someone finally has something to tell me about the traitor and my prophesied child." He finished in satisfaction, an obsessive gleam in his blood red eyes as he spoke about Adrasteia.
Regulus swallowed, his expression finally showing the nervousness he felt at the mention of his daughter. His grey eyes widened as he felt a soft hand slip into his own under the table and immediately glanced to his side to see Aurora, who was nonchalantly looking ahead. "It will be okay." And somehow he believed her, wholeheartdly.
His friends looked horrified as did Arcturus and Melania Black for their great granddaughter. Orion Black looked at his son with barely concealed worry.
"Bring him in." Voldemort commanded.
Two masked death eaters were shown dragging a very familiar platinum blond boy, his once perfect hair was disheveled with scars and bruises scattering all over his handsome pale face.
"Evan!" Rabastan cried out in worry, while Azalea's hand flew to her mouth at the slytherin boy's state and gasped. "Oh my god," She whispered, staring at the blank faced Evan.
"I still look hotter than four-glasses there." The mentioned boy spoke, getting baffled looks from everyone while James scrunched up his nose, "You wish, Rosiér."
"If you are done trying to get her attention, please focus on your half-dead state."
"Its a pleasure to meet you once again, Evan Rosier."
The camera swiftly showed Rabastan, whose blue eyes stung with unshed tears, refusing to glance at his best friend and blinked furiously.
"The secret keeper."
Regulus felt like throwing up knowing his best friend was harmed and will be possibly dead because of him. Because he knew Evan would die before ratting him out.
Evan Rosier panted slightly as he glanced around the room before his eyes fell on his best friend and smiled lazily yet there was a twinge of sadness in his once lively and mischievous eyes.
"Just the right answer and I will spare you, Rosier. I will forgive you and you will be in my ranks once again. So, where is Adrasteia Black?" Voldemort circled him with a predatory grin on his snake-like face which slipped as soon as Evan threw his head back and cackled.
"What the fuck-? He has lost it, hasn't he?"
"He doesn't care about Regulus who betrayed him but his daughter?" A fifth year Ravenclaw questioned aloud, a chill running down Regulus's spine as he thought about his daughter's safety.
He wanted nothing more than to hide his little girl from a monster like Voldemort.
"He is obessed with the poor girl, Merlin." Marlene drawled out, her eyebrow twitching slightly.
"I pity you." The blond boy mumbled as he stared right in the dark Lord's blood red eyes who merely stared at him questionably "I pity you because you are nothing but a coward and always will be, Tom Marvolo Riddle."
Everyone's jaw dropped as they looked at Evan in disbelief, respect and awe.
"Tom Riddle?"
"Who is he?"
No one knew the answer except a few who looked horrified.
"And you will never know where my Adrasteia is." He spat out as he glared fiercely at the dark lord but it faltered as soon as he saw a fat lump of figure walk out of the shadows with a malicious grin yet if one looked closer they could see guilt and resentment in his chocolate brown eyes.
"Peter?" James spluttered, his voice cracking as he glanced at his best friend.
"I-I don't k-know- J-ames, Sirius, R-Remus- believe m-me." He stammered as he stared at his three bestfriends who shifted slightly away from him.
Regulus and Evan gritted their teeth as they forced themselves not to physically harm the cowering boy. It was the future him and not the shy and meek boy who was apologizing profusely for his actions.
And for the first time, Evan Rosier felt dread creep in. A chill ran down his spine as he stared at the boy he unwillingly chose to trust.
"On the contrary, I will." Voldemort started.
"Isn't that right, wormtail?"
Minerva Mcgonagall stared at the small boy with barely concealed expression of pity and bewilderment. This was the same shy, naive boy she had met in the first year who couldn't even hold his wand properly.
And now he was nothing more than a coward, a traitor.
"You know what would happen if you don't willingly tell me where Regulus is but since I am such a merciful lord, I will give you a chance to answer and live, Evan." The dark lord taunted.
Rabastan was shown breathing heavily, his icy blue eyes flashing with panic.
"How does Pettigrew come here when Rosiér is the secret keeper?" A first year questioned with a curious look.
"It does, it won't matter if he was the secret keeper or not, what matters is that if he knew the location." A Hufflepuff replied curtly.
Everyone who knew exactly how the Fidelius charm worked paled as they shared fearful glances.
"How does a Fidelius charm work?" A first year asked rather nervously.
"It is an immensely complex spell involving the magical concealment of a secret inside a single, living soul. The information is hidden inside the chosen person, or Secret-Keeper, and is henceforth impossible to find - unless, of course, the Secret-Keeper chooses to divulge it." Flitwick explained as everyone listened carefully.
"Also, once the secret keeper dies, all the people who had learnt the secret from them would become the new Secret Keepers." He finished while warily glancing at Pettigrew who gulped.
Which meant Peter Pettigrew would become one of the secret keepers if Evan was to die.
Though the question everyone refrained from asking was, why would Regulus trust Peter with such a huge secret.
"One chance, Evan. Where is Adrasteia Black? I promise to let you and your family live, no harm done." The dark lord mumbled softly as nagini hissed viciously.
"You fucking lost my trust when you laid your hands on her, what even makes you think I will help you?" Evan snarled, eyes darkening in anger. "You promised, you swore you would spare her, didn't you?"
"I expected everyone but you to have a woman in your life, thought you were a nun." Azalea giggled slightly, while students looked shocked at Evan because they have never seen him with any girl except Aurora and Azalea. He wasn't one for one night stands and relationships, keeping his distance from such things.
Evan's lips curled up in a smile seeing her giggle and tilted his head with an almost playful look, "Of course I do, and she is the most gorgeous woman I have ever met." Ouch. A twinge of an unknown emotion hit Azalea as she heard him and forced a smile on her face.
"You broke our bond. Successfully separated me, reg and rab but I listened. I still followed you like the moron I am on the condition that you would never touch her and what did you do? YOU TORTURED HER!" He screamed, remembering the helplessness he felt seeing the love of his life wail for help in front of him.
And for the first time, Evan's expression cracked at his words. His blue eyes met with Azalea's forest green ones and pursed his lips, pain flashing past his eyes imagining what could have happened. That was exactly why he had avoided even glancing her way, to avoid any suspicion and keep her safe.
"And you watched." The dark lord replied back, boredly, a smirk crawling up on his face seeing Evan's distraught look.
And with that everyone's face fell, more so Evan's and his friends who had a good guess of who the woman was.
A flash of memory is shown, Evan standing with the other death eaters, his expression crumbling with every scream of the red-headed woman laying on the ground, trembling. Azalea Evans.
"..." Azalea just blankly stared at Evan, who avoided her eyes and kept his head low with fists clenched, the scene playing in his mind like a broken record.
"Go." The young girl broke out of her trance hearing Sirius's soft voice and looked at him with a confused but pained look. "He loves you, a lot." Sirius spoke, a small smile on his lips. "Always has, he looks at you like he is just seeing the world with colors." Azalea's lips quivered at his words and looked at the lost and devastated Evan.
Taking a deep breath she cleared her throat, scaring the poor boy who tightly shut his eyes expecting all sorts of curses and disgust, "That was certainly an unexpected way to confess. Not that I mind." Evan's head snapped towards her as he felt her sit beside her, feeling his heart flutter.
"Lea what the fuc–" "James, sit the fuck down."
"Lea?" Lily, for the first began, her eyes watering at the scene she just witnessed. But Azalea's eyes and attention never faltered, always staying on the flustered boy who just seemed like he had won the whole world.
"And then I fucking killed every death eater who watched in the vicinity and escaped with her right under your nose." Evan shot back, getting hold of his emotions, smiling at the furious look on Voldemort's face as if reliving that memory of humiliation.
"Hot."
"Do I fucking look like a traitor to you? I am sure that job is reserved for Pettigrew, you sorry excuse of a man-no snake." His lips curled up in a sneer as he shakily stood up before taking a subtle look at his best friend and shook his hand softly.
Rabastan's shoulder slouched as he felt his eyes stinging with tears, he knew it was coming. Their bond had cracks but no one could ever completely break what they had. Never.
'He would rather die than betray Regulus and so would I.' He thought bitterly.
All the three boys looked at each other with bitter sweet smiles knowing it was true.
"As for my family? My family would be proud of me. Lea would be so so proud of me. My son, Aelius Rabastan Rosier would be proud of his father for not being a traitor!" He gritted out as he angrily wiped off the blood from his busted lip.
A soft sob slipped out of Rabastan's lips hearing the name, he had thought that he completely lost Regulus and Evan. He couldn't believe Evan still named his son after him.
"I am." It was a low whisper but he heard it and gave a small smile to the love of his life.
"Oh." Everyone looked at Rabastan whose eyes watered and lips wobbled, "He has my name." Making everyone groan and laugh at his dramatic self.
The background music changed to a darker theme as everyone waited with bated breath.
"So be it. Avada Kedavra."
"NO!!" Evan Rosier flinched slightly as he heard so many students scream and cry for him, the same cold hearted slytherin boy who was known to be cruel and heartless.
The boy didn't know it yet but he indeed was admired greatly for his immense loyalty and bravery. All the professors, especially Minerva who was rather close to all her students despite the house differences blinked back her tears and glared at the screen.
