It was Rains birthday, and his father had sent him some birthday gifts. Rain was in the courtyard, just admiring his gifts, when a brunette whom he liked very much walked up to him.

"Happy birthday, Rain!" She smiled, and handed him a gift

"You didn't have to get me anything" he smiled, he was so happy right now 

"Well, I wanted to. You're one of my best friends!" She smiled , he never noticed her eyes glow 

He opened it to find a beautiful painting of Edinburgh in autumn, which he loves autumn.

"This is so beautiful! I didn't know you could paint!" He smiled hugging her

"I kinda only discovered it last year, before I came here, I haven't experimented much" she said 

"I love it, thank you. It's going above my bed!" 

"Hey, Rain-"

"Yeah?" He said, looking at her 

"Um, I don't know if you'd wanna, well, I was wondering if you'd wanna go to the Yule Ball with me? I sort of need someone to go with, and i really wanna  go with you" she smiled cheekily 

He smiled brighter than he has in a long time, "yes I'd love to go with you" he smiled, he really wanted to kiss her right now, and that exactly what he did. The two knew that they liked each other, but after fireworks during their first kiss, Rain awkwardly ran off after, saying he had homework. Well, there's always next time.

~ middle  of December ~

— 𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐘 𝐇𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒, 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓 𝐇𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐅𝐔𝐋𝐋. (bitch idk what this is okay, I'm calling it study hall, and ur not a bitch I just like saying that lol)

Ron and Harry were discussing how fucking embarrassing it would be if they were the only ones without dates. Well, it's not that embarrassing but they're dramatic babies sometimes. 

"This is mad, at this rate, we'll be the only ones without dates" he whispered, a bit too loudly because Professor Snape smacked the back of his head

"Well, us and Neville" he say's laughing (Neville is gonna go with some random girl ok we're not going to have him take Ginny from zach)

"Yeah, but then again, he can take himself" Harry Laughed "It might interest you to know that Nevilles already got someone" Hermione corrected

"Shit!" Ron said, Maggie Aspen and the twins laugh

A note was passed, as George winked

"Get a move on or all the hood ones will have gone" the note read, "right then who you going with then?"

Just then, he threw something at the Ravenclaw table behind him, and Charlie turned around, smiling 

"Charlie, you , me, dance" he said in whispers and actions like charades

She nodded, and squealed, Hazel smiled at her.

"Oi, hermione, you're a girl" (YEAH VERY WELL SPOTTED IDIOT)

"Very well spotted" she sassed, why didn't he ask his twin sister?

"Come with one of us?" They were smacked by Snape again , ugh what a joke.

"Come on, it's one thing for a guy to show up alone. But for a girl, it's just sad" he laughed 

"I won't be going alone because believe it or not someone has already asked me!" She said, standing up and giving her book to Snape

Aspens face went red. 

"And I said yes!" she said walking away 

Aspen immediately stood up and gave their book to Snape and ran off, and the twins immediately followed. Maggie was gonna go, but Fred said to just wait until they're calm. So she did, she sort of understood possibly what was going on. 

"Bloody hell" Ron said, "she's lying, right?" 

"If you say so" Harry said, Maggie knew what was going to happen but didn't say anything 

"Look, we just got a do it. Tonight when we get back to the common room, we'll both have dates, deal?" Ron asked, just as Snape rolled up his sleeves ready to do them dirty.

"Deal" 

Then he took both their heads and slammed them forward, oof.

Hedwig and Chestnut, became good friends. They were running up the stairs, slippery, but they ran into Cho at the top. 

"Hey, Cho?" Harry asked, "do you wanna maybe go to the Yule ball with me?" He asked, oh Harry.

"Oh, Harry I'm sorry. Someone has already asked me" she frowned, (yes, Liam has been getting around yall, just because i don't write everything doesn't mean it doesn't happen)

Harry was lying on the gryffindor common room couch moping about Cho, when Ron stumbled through, and boy, was he a little messy

"It's okay Ron, it doesn't matter" Ginny said, Maggie on his left, Hazel was sitting on the floor by the fire, reading, anything she could about this golden egg

"What happened to you?" Harry said (I swear Dan is perfect for this, I am so pissed they're re doing the whole thing, I AM AGAINST IT)

"He just asked out Fleur Delacour" Maggie said, she really was actually embarrassed for him

"What?" Hermione said

"Well, what she say?" Hazel said getting up

"No, of course" hermione said, but Ron grunted, "she said yes?" Hermione said shocked

"Don't be silly, there she was walking by, you know I like it when they walk" he started (you horny ass anyways-) "I couldn't help it, it slipped out"

"Actually, he sort of screamed at her, it was a bit frightening" Ginny replied 

The rest of that conversation doesn't need to be explained.

The Yule Ball had been very important to everyone. In the Hufflepuff common room, Illy was getting ready for her date with Cassian, who she was extremely nervous about. 

"What if he doesn't like me?"

"Illy, I've seen the way the guy looks at you, he's in love with you!" Zach shouted 

"Okay, well, I'm just nervous" she said

"You're nervous? I'm going with Hazel Coleson Potter!" Rain said, "I'm nervous!"

"We'll get through this together Rain, you look amazing! Hazel is gonna love that suit" illy smiled 

" Cassian is gonna love that dress" he smiled

"Yes, yes you're both like models, I get it, please tell me absolutely everything later, I wanna know" zach said, they all laughed 

Meanwhile,, everyone else in the Coleson Family was gathering in the foyer

"Liam! I can't believe you got a date!" Charlie said,  it truly happy for him

"So, who is she ?" Atlas said, interested

"Erm, Cho Chang" he said quietly 

"WHAT? Omg Liam you scored a goal! I'm so excited for you!" Edie said

"Wait really? I'm so surprised you're being nice" Liam said sarcastically 

"My point is have fun! Besides if you need anything ill be with Daphne-"

"Yeah, speaking about you and Daphne, what are you? Best friends? Girlfriends?" Flynn said

"What? No! We're just, friends, we're just friends" she said, though deep down they were actually in a secret relationship for about two months now. 

"Come on, Edie, you can tell us!" Charlie said

"Okay, okay, but No one else can know! I'm still, well, I'm a little embarrassed by it-"

"By what?" They all said together 

"That I'm lesbian and am dating Daphne Greengrass, a pure blood witch who is only allowed to date pureblood slytherin people!!!" She said, but truly, her siblings were really happy for her, Edie never had much social interaction, she was always really shy and also would say a lot of things and that would make people turn away , but Daphne can relate, and the two are roommates..

After chatting about everyone's dates, nobody would get atlas to spill who he was going with, because in all honesty, he wasn't going with anyone. Cedric and atlas hated each other at first but then they started to talk and get closer. They decided that at midnight they'd run outside and dance at the last song together, but until then they'd remain friends. Atlas knew he should probably tell his siblings that he was possibly dating Cedric Diggory, but he didn't.

Flynn was going by themselves, they didnt have a date, but then again they'd probably spend the whole evening eating and watching Hazel and Rain. Let's be real.

It ended up being that Maggie was going to go with Harry, after a last minute decision, they both had no dates.

Maggie, Hazel and Hermione were all getting ready together.

Nobody knew who Hermione was going with, and that was about to become a disaster.

"Poor kid, I bet she's all alone in her room crying her eyes out" Ron said, laughing 

"Who?"

"Hermione, of course" he said, "come on, Harry, why  you think she hasn't said who she's going with ?" 

"Because we'd take the mickey outta her if she did"

"No, because she has nobody to go with"

Harry waits for Maggie, while, Ron, goes with Padma Patil who looks very not pleased to be there.

Rain was waiting with Harry and Ron.

Cassian, wearing his slick black suit, and his light pink tie to match Illy's dress, was walking up the stairs, as he looked up and saw her. The love of his life. Illaria Narssica Malfoy.

She smiled at him, as Rain looked over and smiled.

"Illy!" He said, wow he really likes her, he thought 

"Cass, you look- amazing! Handsome!" She said, stuttering a bit 

"Thank you, but you, look, just, wow, beautiful" he smiled, the two were not together, but at this point everyone thought they were. Including Draco, which, well, let's say her father has something to say about it. She knew once Draco thought about it, she knew her dad was gonna smack her again, Cassian may be a Slytherin but he isn't a pureblood. Therefore they're forbidden to date (yeah well Draco you end up marrying a half blood Ravenclaw so shut it)

Mcgonagall came up and asked if Harry and hazel were ready, unfortunately hazel wasn't there yet.

"Well, tell her as soon as she gets down here then" she said smiling 

Aspen, Fred and George were all downstairs as well, Fred going with Angelina and George going with Charlie, Aspen didn't have anyone to go with, so instead they only were going to go for some food and then proceed back to their dorm, where they'd probably sob about Hermione. 

Hazel, Hermione, and Maggie peaked around the corner, as 

they look beautiful!" Padma says, and Harry mumbles a yes, looking at Cho with Liam Coleson, who seem to be happy together.

But then his eyes sat on three girls.

Hazel Maggie and Hermione walk gracefully down the stairs, Harry didn't even realize he was looking at her in awe. And Aspen, they eyed Hermione like a hawk, she looked so gorgeous , and the twins could tell how sad they were right now as she walked into Victor Krums arms, and giggled as she walked away. 

"You've gotta be fucking kidding" Aspen sobbed, but they tried to stop the tears, Charlie, who was with George gave them a hug. But they still looked at Hermione, as she walked away. Without them.

Rain eyed Hazel, her beautiful blue dress and her hair, oh he was in love.

"Rain!" She smiled running to him, she was most definitely not wearing heels. Converse for the win.

"Hazel! Oh, my... you look gorgeous!" He said and he really meant it. Because the two were looking at each other like nothing else was happening, and Charlie watched every moment of it, and she smiled bigger than ever. She always thought Rain was perfect for Hazel, just lucky they ended up being best friends.

The champions walk through the doors, and they are the first to dance. Let's say, that Hazel and Rain are terrible but honestly don't care because they don't wanna slow  dance at the moment , they'd rather be freestyle dancing right now. They'd rather do the group slow dance, NOT WHERE THEY ARE CENTER OF ATTENTION. But that's later. 

"Is that Hermione Granger? With Victor Krum?" Padma asked 

"No, ab- absolutely not" Ron denied, but the evidence was right there 

The yule ball started, as everyone started to dance now, not just the champions.

Illy and Cassian danced, as did everyone else. Willow decided to hang with Flynn, who knew who they were eyeing.

"What's wrong?" They as

"Oh, nothing, sorry" Willow replied 

"I know you were looking at Draco" they said softly 

"What? No I wasn't I was just-" they sighed, "I was" 

"Why don't you ask him out?" Flynn said, they really didn't see what was so great about him, but Willow wasn't stupid, and therefore Flynn trusted him.

"I can't. He's with Pansy Pugface" they squirmed at the name

"She's not so great, she has basically been glued to him for weeks" Cassian said, as Illy and him stand by their table with drinks.

"Trust me, she's a bitch" Illy said, "Draco could not stop complaining about her but he claimed he had no one else to go with" she said

"Guess he was right" they said sadly, and when Draco turned his head, he noticed how Willow was actually wearing something girly, a dress. But then Pansy just shouted at him again for attention.

"It doesn't matter, go have fun, Cassian, Illy. I'm just going back to my dorm." Willow said, 

"Are you sure you don't want company?" Flynn said, "I'd be all for coming back with you" 

"That's nice Flynn, but stay here and watch your sisters, they're having fun" they smiled, taking some punch and a slice carrot cake and leaving.

Draco's eyes trailed to the doors, but he didn't do anything. At that moment he didn't realize that he was in love with someone else.

Liam and Cho sat down at a table,

"So, you having a good time?" He asked

"Yeah, Liam, you're pretty funny you know" she laughed 

"Well, according to my family it's my duty to, and to get in everyone's way" he laughed, she chuckled 

"These past few weeks have been so much fun with you, Liam. I don't really hang out with many people, and you're really one of the closest friends I have" Cho said

"I appreciate that, you're a good friend too" Liam said, okay Liam, tell her. "But i don't wanna be friends" 

"What? Why not?" Cho said confused 

"Cause you belong with me" he said, "as my girlfriend" he smiled, "I mean, if you want t-"

He was cut off with Chos lips on his, guess Liam really scored tonight. He smiled, she placed her head on his shoulder. Liam, you're fucking awesome, he thought.

Meanwhile Rain and Hazel were freestyle dancing, having the best time. And Charlie and George were also there with them, as a double date sort of.

"This is so fun!"  Charlie yelled over the music 

"Yeah!" George said, "you're really amazing, Charlie" he smiled, kissing her cheek, Hazel winked at her

But from afar, she spotted Aspen watching Hermione with Krum, and they then left. 

She walked over to Charlie, George, Hazel and Rain, who now are heading to the table where Harry and Ron are along with Maggie.

"Victors gone to get us drinks, would you care to join us?" Hermione asked 

The friends said yes, but unfortunately after waiting a half hour, Victor never returned with the drinks.

They saw him with another girl, who he was kissing.

Hermione had tears in her eyes, Maggie was about to follow, but George said not to, because someone was already waiting for her.

Hermione ran outside on the steps and was about to take off her shoes. When all of a sudden, a figure appeared next to her.

Aspen. They were wearing a red suit and they looked dashing. Hermione couldn't help but blush a little bit, why was she blushing? She doesn't like girls.

"Aspen" she said, "what are you doing here?"

"Well, to be honest, I was waiting for you"

Hermione was confused, and Aspen just thought they would shoot this.

"Look, I am sorry about what happened with Victor, I am, but come on, let's go do something together. We can dance, you can read to me your favourite book and I promise I wont interrupt , anything you want, I'll do with you, would that make you feel any better?" They asked 

I think at this moment Hermione realized that she wasn't interested in anyone. Not guys or girls. She was only interested in one person who was sitting in front of her.

"Hermione, I've liked you for almost two years now, and when I saw you with Victor, or saying anything about you going to the ball with anyone else , I have to admit I cried, a lot. I was jealous. I wanted you to go with me , but I knew you'd never go with me" they frowned, crying again  " I don't think you realize how much you mean to me" they said looking in her brown eyes

Though their age gap was a year and a half apart, they are soulmates. Aspen just never loved anyone, not like Hermione. 

"I like you too" Hermione said, aspens eyes lit up.

"Wait, you're serious?!" They smiled 

"Yes, I didn't realize that until now, I blush whenever you're around, and I don't think I realized I liked you then, but now, I know that I like you more than Victor Krum, more than anyone" she smiled

Let's say that it spread around the school like wildfire that they were kissing in the corridors, but hey the haters gonna hate. And ashermione was gonna shake.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" Aspen asked, an hour later when they're lying in bed, cuddling 

"I thought the make out session was an obvious answer" Hermione laughed, Aspen laughed, how silly they were to think they'd never be more than a friend to Hermione Granger. 

They fell asleep in each others arms on Hermione bed. 

And Hazel and Maggie were gushing when they came back.

Because Hazel had also possibly realized.. she loved Rain Lupin, not as a friend. 

And Maggie had possibly realized she loved Harry Potter, not as a friend.

Atlas and Cedric were dancing under the moonlight. 

"I never realized I'd end up with someone like you" atlas said laughing 

"Me neither, but I wouldn't have it any other way" Cedric said kissing atlas.

The truth being, the two never really hated each other now did they..
