" the aftermath "

Dear participants, winners and spectators of "Fantasy Island", thank you so much for all the support and for taking part within this project!

This journey has come to an end now and I would like to take this opportunity to ask for some feedback from your side!

Within the comment section I will provide a link that leads to a Google form for you to use in order to share your thoughts and experience with me, regarding Fantasy Island. It all works anonymously, so no one needs to worry about it affecting you in a negative way. Feedback, positive and negative, will help me grow as a host, reviewer and judge. It will be useful for when new projects may be planned and launched. So if you got some time, please take part in the Google form or feel free to leave comments beneath this chapter! I promise there will be no hard feelings or bad blood from my side at all!

P.S. I will also post the link on my message board, as links within comments sometimes can not be clicked.

I would like to voice out my gratitude once more. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this in any way, whether as a spectator or a participant! No matter how far you have kept up with this competition as a spectator or how far you have come as a participant, I appreciate each and every one of you! But an exceptionally big thanks goes out to the participants of course, who have spent hours of their time, a good bunch of mental breakdowns and last-minute-editing in order to provide stunning entries! I know this has been very tough at times, so I appreciate everyone who has worked hard until the end and decided to stick through with this!

"Fantasy Island" was the first long-term competition I have ever hosted. It was all new terrain, despite the smaller contests and challenges I have hosted or co-judged in the past. Needless to say I was nervous and indeed underestimated the responsibility and workload such a project requires. I had planned this all out for several months before launching it, but all "planning out" will not prevent life from getting in the ways of host and participants. Nonetheless the participants proved to be very understanding and supporting, no matter what mistakes I made or hardships I encountered. I hope they know I am genuinely grateful for them keeping up with everything! I have by far not been the perfect judge or host and there is still a lot to learn for me. But I will work hard to provide more and better events and projects in the future!

Nonetheless this was also fun and — unlike the participants prolly — I always anticipated the deadlines for quests, just to see what others created based on prompts I provided. Believe me, it is quite fascinating at times! So all of this was worth  it in the end and I did enjoy it!

Pro-Tip: It is quite a stupid idea to organize and host competitions like this all on your own. If you have the opportunity, allow yourself to receive help from co-hosts and co-judges. No matter if you have 10 or 100 participants, there is gonna be a $hitload of work and other responsibilities you have to take care of. Just as an example, I have spent approximately 30-50minutes on reviewing and judging a single entry. Not to forget about comparing and fixing/adjusting scores altogether. If you want to try and do everything properly, it is gonna take up a lot of your time and patience. And believe me, you will get tired of it pretty quick, it shall not be underestimated.
