betty season one scene pack

episode one.
Dinnertime at the wheelers proves to be quite the entertainment for elizabeth as she silently chews on a dinner roll, watching her older siblings argue with their mother.

"we should be out there right now. we should be helping to look for him!" one of mikes closest friends, will byers, had gone missing the previous night.

this had the entire neighborhood standing on edge, and karen wheeler was no exception. "we've been over this, mike. the chief says—"

"i don't care what the chief says!" mike interrupts, "we have to do something—will could be in danger."

"more reason to stay put." karen argues back, unswayed. "end of discussion."

there's a uncomfortable silence that falls across the dinner table before nancy speaks up, "so... me and barb are gonna study at her house tonight. that's cool, right?"

"no, not cool." karen twirls her fork around her plate with a shake of the head.

"what? why not?"

"why do you think? am i speaking chinese in this house?" karen asks rhetorically, "until will is found safe, no one leaves."

"this is such bullshit!" nancy exclaims, "we're under house arrest just because mikes friend got lost on the way home!"

mike turns abruptly, "wait, this is wills fault? you're just pissed off cause you wanna hangout with steve."

betty nearly chokes on her water, nearly missing the death stare nancy give their brother. she raises her eyebrows, repeating, "steve?"

"who's steve?"

mike answers their mother, "her new boyfriend."

"you are such a douchebag, mike!" nancy growls, rising from her seat and storming off.

"wait a minute." betty leans forward in her chair, harassing mike for more details. "steve harrington?" the stories of king steve 'the hair' harrington had been passed down to hawkins middle school, enchanting the children. "how do you know? is it really steve? did they kiss? did they—"

"elizabeth!" karen wheeler scolds, sending betty shrinking back down into her seat.

episode two.
Betty raises an eyebrow, watching with disgust as her brother inhales his breakfast. "jesus, mike. you're gonna choke yourself."

sitting between the two, nancy follows her sisters gaze. "yeah, slow down. that's disgusting."

"do a lot of studying last night?" mike glances up, chewing with his mouth open.

"yeah, actually, i did." nancy nods, glancing back down at her plate.

"what was your test on again? chemistry?"

bess snorts, understanding what mike was hinting at. despite his efforts, steve harrington was not very stealthy. "no, i think it was human anatomy. right, nance?"

nancy shoots both siblings a look, sending harsh kicks in each direction. betty reciprocates an even harder jab, causing nancy to curse, "ow, shit!"

episode two.
Elizabeth sprawls across her floral print bedspread, mindlessly flipping through the newest edition of teen beat. for once in the girls life, there was peace—she had finally been allowed to stay home alone while her mother took her younger sister, holly, to the community pool. betty enjoyed swimming fine, sure, but not with a swarm of three year olds. her father was at work—betty had no idea what for exactly—and both her elder siblings were out. mike was likely off somewhere with his stupid friends, and betty suspected nancy was sneaking around with that new boyfriend of hers.

and so, it was only bess remaining at the wheeler home. the child relished in the peace and quiet that seemed to be quite rare these days—although she was hardly ever very busy herself. betty knew she was not her parents favorite, not even close. she wasn't their first like nancy, their last like holly, or their only son like mike. elizabeth wheeler was just simply there.

but she didn't mind, not even one bit. in fact, this made flying under the radar that much easier—betty had been able to creep into her older sisters room and snatch up the latest copy of teen beat entirely undetected, as nancy usually tended to blame mike for everything.

and so, betty made sure to soak in the peace while it lasted....which wasn't wrong, as soon the unmistakable squeak of dustin hendersons voice sounded from down the hallway.

betty waited a few beats, hoping maybe he'd get the hint mike wasn't home. but alas, dustin was as unrelenting as her three year old sister asking for ice cream before dinner.

"...lucas is m.i.a, and i've got a code red. a code red!"

betty lets out a sigh, pinching the bridge of her nose in exasperation as she makes her way to her brothers bedroom; magazine still in hand.

the radio sounds again, "all right, it's dustin—again. seriously, i've got a code red. code red!"

betty snatches the walkie from mikes bed, "could you please shut, up?"

"betty?" dustin sounds hopeful, "betty, is mike there?"

"does it sound like he's here?" bess rolls her eyes, continuing to flip through teen beat.

"then where is he?"

"don't know, don't care."

"is he with lucas?"

"like i said: i don't know, and i don't care." bess begins pacing her brothers bedroom, overseeing the contents displayed across his desk and picking through them.

"please tell him that it's super important." dustin stresses, "please tell him that i have a code—"

betty sharply interrupts the boy, "code red?"

"yep, code red. exactly."

"mhm." bess hums, plucking an action figure from mikes desk, "i've got a code for you instead. it's called code shut. your. mouth." she spits, promptly turning down the dial on the radio to block out dustin's protests.

episode eight.
Betty is watching cartoons in the living room with holly when mike comes barreling through, frantically asking karen if she had any repairs scheduled for the house. when she responds negatively he panics, racing back down into the basement.

curious, elizabeth can't help but trail after him. when she was reaches the bottom of the steps, all seems particularly normal—that nerdy board game her brothers always playing spread out across the coffee table, dustin henderson and his toothless grin, and....betty pauses, staring in shock at the strange bald child standing in front of a makeshift tent. "uh, who the hell is this?"

"go back upstairs, betty!" mike shouts hurriedly, turning back to his friends.

"yeah, as if." betty cocks an eyebrow, facing a rather distressed dustin. "care to explain?"

dustin exhales greatly, rushing out in one breath, "this is eleven and she can do stuff with her mind and she escaped from the bad men and mikes been hiding her here but they found her and now they are here and they're gonna kill us all!"

betty nearly chokes, "i'm sorry, what?"

mike snatches her wrist, "no time, we gotta go now!"

the kids rush out through the basement door, a bewildered betty only copying her brothers movements. they hurriedly wheel their bikes across the lawn before hopping on; eleven squeezing onto the back of mikes bicycle seat. as they rush off down the street, betty notices a cluster of white vans seemingly waiting just across from their driveway. as the kids pass by, the vans suddenly begin pursuing after them.

"go, go, go!" dustin exclaims, peddling as fast as he can.

mike shouts, "go right! go right!" the group veers off the road, riding between two houses and zooming through their backyards, meeting lucas sinclair on the other side. he had a sister two years betty's junior, and the pair had gotten along quite well in the past—or, at least until bess had reached middle school and their groups became more separate.

just as the group nests the end of the street, a van appears to block their exit. the kids curse, making sharp u-turns only to see another van headed their way from the other direction. they keep pedaling anyhow, hoping the vans would rather let them pass then run over children.

this hope seems in vain, however, as the van only seems to speed up the closer the kids get. suddenly, eleven closes her eyes; blood leaking from one side of her nose as she breathes deep. just then, the approaching van flips up and over, soaring above the bewildered children before landing and roll against the pavement, blocking the second van from continuing its pursuit.

"mother of—"

"holy shit!" betty and dustin gasp simultaneously, staring in awe at the strange girl on the back of her brothers bicycle.
