⸙ Epilogue | No Tears

"Ta-da!" Hoseok cheers, untying the scarf around Naeun's eyes. "Congratulations on winning the best rookie actor award, baby!"
Naeun opens her eyes.
Hoseok has been telling her throughout their car ride that they are going somewhere she would like and will do something she wanted to; and didn't even let her go home and change her clothes. Halfway through the route, he made Naeun cover her eyes and so on and on.
She wondered what so grand and special did he prepare for her to go to such extents.
"This is my house..." Naeun simply says, eyes scanning the living room. It is decorated with balloons, flower petals and candles but, "This is my house..." she repeats.
"Yes, babe, your house," Hoseok says, slipping an arm around her shoulder.
"But you said we are going somewhere I like..." Naeun says, eyes wide and confused.
Hoseok shrugs, "Everyone likes their home, you do too right? Even more with my decorations now." He smiles, patting her head, "That balloon itself took me fifteen minutes, you know?"
"But you also said we would do what I wanted too!"
"Yeah, of course," Hoseok steps forward, taking the TV remote in his hand and switching on the appliance. "Didn't you say you wanted to watch a movie where the guy takes the girl on five dates? I figured which movie was that and...ta-da!"
Naeun stares at the screen blankly. She wants to scoff, laugh, cry and she decides to do it all today.
"Hoseok." she scoffs.
The said man stills. "Hoseok?"
"Yes, Hoseok! I meant I wanted you to take me on five dates in one day...and not watch the movie—I can't believe you right now!" she whines, stomping one foot on the floor. She turns to walk inside her room when Hoseok quickly pulls her back, wrapping his arms around her. He rests his chin on the shoulder, not before placing a kiss on the side of her neck.
"Do you really think I am a fool?" he chuckles. It makes Naeun weak in her knees. "That I wouldn't know what you wanted?"
Soulmates.
Hoseok thinks it could be the best thing that happened to him. It's lovely to have a person love you, whose heart belongs just to you and who is you more than you are you. He knows it doesn't make sense to have some random person tied to him by a bond of fate, but he swears; even without the bond, he will still end up with the same person.
Bonds are just physical forms of love.
"Come with me," he says, unwrapping his arms and turning her around. "Trust me here a little."
Naeun nods and he guides her to the sofa, playing the movie.
.
"You know you can cry if you want to, right?" Naeun bites her lips to stop herself from bursting into laughter.
"I can't exactly cry when you feel like laughing so much." He whines, sniffing. "You didn't tell me the movie was so sad!"
What a mess they are together!
"There's a sequel too, do you want to watch it?" Hoseok asks her, yawning.
"Can we please?"
And that's how Naeun finds Hoseok snuggling into her after some time, too sleepy to keep his eyes open. Naeun stares at him for who knows how long.
"I know you're staring," he looks up at her all of a sudden, making her widen her eyes. But she doesn't look away and Hoseok loves that. He loves what he sees in her eyes, the twinkle when she scans his features, the adoration when she skims her finger on his nose and the love when she rubs her thumbs against his cheekbone.
Naeun thinks back to her school days. Everyone wishes to have a soulmate to love after watching dramas and movies on it but as far as she remembers, that never crossed her mind. Her parents aren't soulmates but they love each other a lot, so she never thought it was necessary.
But when she is with her soulmate like this, in his arms, she thinks— this might be the greatest feeling in the world.
She finds it endearing and heartwarming to know what he feels when she is talking to him, smiling at him and touching him.
It is so much more intimate, so much more reassuring than it ever can be.
"What happened to the five dates in a day?" Naeun asks. Hoseok pouts, "Aren't you enjoying this? It is equivalent to five dates—Look," he points at the television. "We got two movies, food, wine and a cuddling session. It is five in one."
Naeun rolls her eyes. "You've scammed me too much today."
"I gave you the best offer."
And when Naeun goes on telling him about the movie which they just watch, Hoseok laughs.
He loves to hear Naeun talk, he loves to pass his fingers through her soft hair and he absentmindedly braids random strands of hair. He's just so smitten by her, he wonders if it is even possible to love so much.
Love.
It is the soft gaze in his eyes that makes Naeun let her fingers graze and exposed skin. His neck, collarbones, nose, ears and nape— everything under her fingertips feels so soft.
Naeun nods. Indeed it is.
"I love you," he says.
"The moon is beautiful," she replies.
One confession. Two ways. Because all of it leads to each other in the end.
The world had stopped or maybe it just spun faster but none could tell because all they felt were each other's essence. The depth behind the black shining eyes is like a piece of tourmaline drawing out the magic from their hearts and spiralled from her to him, connecting them on an emotional level, deeper than the one's eye can perceive.
They were each other's only one, they knew it from the moment their eyes met on the rooftop, the fire in their hearts bloomed into flowers ever so bright. They just knew that they would hit the rock bottoms together, fly in the sky together— share the beauty and terror of love.
They would just enjoy being each other's heavens, live a fairytale life—their happily ever after.
