08 | Fallen

Dreaming of your soulmate can be a sign that you're about to meet them in your real life. If you have already met them, then these dreams are a message from your subconscious.

Yoongi rubs his eyes, blinking at the screen. It doesn't make sense. What message is his subconscious sending him? That he should stop sleeping because every time he does, he dreams of a person he shouldn't even think about.

It's his friend's— almost a brother's— girlfriend for fuck's sake. It scares him, every time Hayoung appears to be smiling in his sleep, waking him up immediately.  It has become a living nightmare for him and he doesn't understand it.

How can Hayoung be his soulmate? They have met each other years back and nothing happened but now he is having these dreams that don't make sense. It is so sudden— he first realised when he had fallen asleep in his studio and Namjoon had called him to tell him about Taehyung's soulmate.

He wasn't even able to focus on what his friend was saying on the phone, images in his mind flashing, again and again, making him confused.  They have never even talked to each other if not for something related to Jin, then why has he been hearing her voice or even her face in his sleep?

It was a fairytale. She was looking like a princess singing in the garden, collecting different flowers in her tiny basket. Yoongi had panicked, couldn't even meet Jin's eyes after. But then it happened again. He was at the dorm when he had fallen asleep while watching a movie. She was running along the beach, laughing and splashing water on someone else. Someone else he couldn't see but he knows who it might be.

His assumptions were confirmed when Hayoung spoke. It was the first time he heard her voice in his sleep.

Jin, I love you.

That had woken him up in heavy sweat. Her voice scared him, jerking him awake thereafter he tried to sleep. He is in his studio again, reading about the soulmate dreams. He has a diary by his side, where he notes down every dream he has seen about her. Five dreams, in all of which she's happy...but with Jin.

It makes him feel like he's prying in their space, seeing things he should never. He sighs and turns around his chair in the studio to close his eyes for a few moments to rest them. He already had been facing problems in sleeping, his doctor had asked him to eat better, live a better lifestyle. He tried but he just can't help it.

He doesn't even realise drifting in his dreamland until he sees her again.

A bright moon hangs from the sky as two silhouettes sit side by side to each other. One of them is laughing, leaning into the other's silhouette escapes from one of them and Yoongi, even his unconscious state feels his fear rise. How the fuck does he recognise her just from her silhouette? Just from her voice.

Her laugh does not disturb the calmness of the night, instead, it seems to make the stars glow brighter. She stands up and tries to balance herself on the narrow pavement. Her giggles do not cease as she keeps losing her balance and lands on the lush grass on the other side.

She takes another step, squeaking as she loses her balance and Yoongi jerks forward in his sleep as if he would want to have her fall in his arms. But he grows uncomfortable when he sees her in someone else's arms. The other silhouette. It is leaning close to her. He can't see it but they are close, so close as if they are kissing.

He squirms in his sleep, wanting to get out of here. It worsens when the silhouettes part to reveal the moon between them. It's beautiful and Yoongi would have appreciated it sometime else. But it's fucking torturing to him right now, all he asks is a peaceful sleep.

A day he doesn't wake up exhausted. Yoongi opens his eyes, breathing heavily. It's fucked up.

. . .

"Jungkook, are you okay? The manager just told me you were sick." Yoongi says, walking outside his studio towards one of the big rooms. Jungkook was supposed to be the one shooting today but suddenly the schedule changed. Jin was next but he's taken off today so Yoongi volunteered to shoot instead.

"I am okay, Hyung..."

"Okay, no. You don't sound okay. What is it?"

"When does your shoot get over?"

Yoongi looks around, a stylist fixing his bangs. "Maybe an hour?"

"I will be there then, you'll know."  Yoongi hesitantly agrees, hanging up after. What happened to Jungkook now? They have been taking hits after hits, unexpectedly recently. What kind of bad omen is this?

When Jungkook arrives after his shoot, Yoongi is confused to see the layered clothing, scarf and mask. "Aren't you hot?" Yoongi asks, unlocking his studio. He hears Jungkook sigh as he closes the door behind him.

Jungkook seems to hesitate for a moment before he removes his mask and scarf, making Yoongi's jaw drop. "What— did you get more— no they weren't there the other day—what—"

"I met my soulmate, Hyung."

Yoongi gasps.

"At least I think I did. There's no other explanation for these."

Jungkook sits down with a thud, groaning. "Do you know who it is?" Yoongi raises an eyebrow, eyes skimming past his tattoos.

"Can you not stare?" Jungkook sighs. "And I have my doubts."

"Sorry, they are mesmerising." Yoongi sheepishly smiles. "Oh, someone from our company?"

Jungkook shakes his head. "It's not. She's in the army, met her— saw her— while I had visited Seojun. She had tattoos too, similar kind on her face."

Yoongi nods, taking in the information. "That's wonderful Jungkook, why don't you seem happy about it? I thought you always looked forward to meeting your soulmate?"

Jungkook shakes his head, almost as if he would cry and buries his face in his hands. "What should I do now Hyung? Meeting my soulmate is another thing but these tattoos, are bound to become an issue. I don't understand what these tattoos indicate. What if they are all over my body when I wake up tomorrow?"

Yoongi doesn't say anything, letting Jungkook ramble. He's glad at least he's speaking his worries out.

"People won't like it. Then it would affect our whole group. In the worst case, I would be forced to remove those tattoos and would I even be able to? See the tattoos Hyung, it would take me months to remove these and it would hinder our schedule, what if people start hating–"

"Jungkook—"

"What if I am forced to leave..." Jungkook's voice quivers, on the verge of crying. Yoongi sighs, placing a hand on the younger's shoulder.

"Don't think of the worst Jungkook. The group activities have already been lessened because Taehyung and Jimin cannot attend them, if necessary we will take a break for a few months. Why don't you try to focus on what you want to do now? Do you want to meet her?"

Jungkook nods. "But what if she is not my soulmate? You know we bump into so many people—"

"Jungkook, the fact you came to a conclusion is her already indicates something. The gut feeling about these things is no joke." Yoongi laughs, trying to lighten up Jungkook's mood. The younger sighs, nodding.

"I will meet her then...but what if she panics or does not believe me or the worst, she hates me," Jungkook covers his eyes.

"She will believe you...soulmates can feel the pull and urges when they are bonded, so she will know..about the other things, you will have to know once you go and meet her."

"But I don't even know her name..."

"Just go and find out, don't sit and keep sighing here."

Jungkook glares at him, but then his eyes soften. "Hyung, you don't look very good. Are you having trouble sleeping again?"

The concern laced in his voice makes Yoongi uneasy.

"It's nothing Jungkook, just the usual. Will be fine in a few days."

"You said the same thing last time and we found you sleeping on Joon Hyung's bedroom's floor." Yoongi rolls his eyes at that, "Get out."

"Take care."

Yoongi hums, rolling his eyes again when Jungkook pokes his tongue out. He turns back towards his computer again, staring at his faint reflection on the blank screen.

You will fall.

Yoongi smiles.

Yes, I have already fallen.
