chapter one - "Yeah but I hear that the cheerleaders are cold hearted bitches,"

Stevie stood in her closet trying to figure out the perfect back to school outfit. "Coming in!" She smirked hearing Alec call, like he always did. "You're good, smelled you since you walked in," She said glancing over her shoulder watching as he plumbed down on her bed. "Hey I think I smell great," He said  after sniffing  his shirt collar.

"Sure, and that flee and tick shampoo did wander's," She remarked as he quickly propped himself up, "You said you we were going to take that to our graves!" He said making her shake her head and turn back to her closet. "Watcha doing?"

"Trying to pick the first day outfit,"

He frowned her brows, "Don't you have to wear your cheer outfit, Captain?" He asked teasing.

"Yes, but second day of school is just as important."

"No it's not," He replied shaking his head. "So where do you think our parent's went?" He asked getting a sigh. "I don't know I stopped asking after my first moon."

He tilted his head to the side quickly remembering the night, "Didn't we lose you?"

She turned away from the closet, holding a few clothes in her hands. "Correction, the adults lost me but you were right next to me." She said smiling lightly. "How's your mom and sister?" She asked changing the subject.

He sighed grabbing one of her stuffed animals and hugged, "Claudia say's mom is driving her nuts. And she's debating on moving here or trying to see if Perrie will take her."

"That's because your mom act's like Claudia is five and not fifteen." Stevie stated holding the different shirts up to herself in front of a mirror. She had noar it down to two options. One, a black t-shirt that was parshly cropped. Two, a white bralette. She groaned turning back towards Alec. "Which one?"

He thought about it for moment, "The white is going with that jean two piece thingy?" She laughed, "Yes it will be with the jean two piece thingy."

Stevie and Alec had been friends since forever they each did something for each other. Alec taught her how to play video games so they could play together, and Stevie taught him things about clothes and makeup.

"Do that, the jean thing has pink on it right? And pink always looks good on you."

She smiled looking down, "Thanks Stimpy," He smiled hearing the nickname they called each other. She tossed the clothes onto a chair and joined him on the bed. He moved over as they both let out a heavy sigh hearing nothing but silence in the house. "Do you ever wonder what would happen if we lived normally?" She asked placing her head onto his shoulder.

"I don't think we know what normal is," He said laying his head onto hers.

That was the real truth. How would she know what normal truly be considering their whole lives weren't normal. Going back and forth between France and Beacon Hills would be someone's normal life. Changing two times a month into a werewolf isn't normal. Puppy proofing the house every full moon because everyone in your family change into werewolves isn't normal.

🐺

Stevie sat behind Lydia with Alec right next her, listening to Mr. Curtis ramble about now. "As you all know, there indeed was a body found in the woods last night." He said turning towards the class.

The two looked over a teach other thinking the same thing. "And I am sure your eager little minds are coming up with macabre scenarios as to what had happened. But I am here to tell you that the police have a suspect in custody, which means you can give your undivided attention to the syllabus which is on your desk outlining this semester." She rolled her eyes glancing down at the syllabus. When going to the counselor about graduating earlier only for it to turn out none of her credits from Mr. Curtis or Mr. Harrison classes went through. But it wasn't that bad because Alec was with her which made them the only two juniors in the class.

But that's when she smelt it, a beta. At first she thought it was her or Alec but than realized that it was fresh. She than looked around her hitting Alec lightly, "Do you smell that?"

He thought about it for a second before shaking his head, "All I'm getting is Lydia's perfume."

"It's a beta," She whispered leaning close to him. "Maybe it's--" He went to repeat but she quickly shook her head cutting him off, "It's fresh." His eyes widen as the two looked around as her eyes trailed towards Scott McCall. The only reason she knew him was because he was on the lacrosse team, well they stayed on the bench but still part of the team.

Just as she was about to tell Alec she found him the door open. "Class, this is our new student, Allison Argent. Please do your best to make her feel welcome," The Principle spoke up and Allison walked between the rows of desks and came to sit behind Scott. "I'll explain later," She whispered to herself knowing the Lewis boy could hear it.

She shocked her head lightly and went back to paying attention to Mr. Curtis again as he resumes his lesson, "We'll begin with Kafka's Metamorphoisi on page one-thirty-three."

🐺

The bell ringed as Lydia quickly hooked Stevie's arm and dragged her over to the new girl to introduced ourselves. "That jacket is absolutely killer. Where'd you get it?" The Martian asked as the two had her turn from her locker tot hem.

"My mom was a buyer for a boutique back in San Francisco." She answered sheeplesly looking between the Martian and the Carpenter.

"And you are our new best friend." Stevie smiled before seeing Jackson come up behind Lydia as the two got lost in each other. It wasn't that she didn't like them together.....No she just didn't like them together. She thought Lydia could and should have done better.

"So, this weekend, there's a party." Lydia said as the two looked towards, Allison.

"A party?"

"Yeah...Friday night. You should come." He insisted. "Uh, I can't. It's family night this Friday, thanks for asking."

Stevie knew it was a lie but didn't press on it because she could feel someone staring at them. "You sure? Because everyone is going after the scrimmage." He asked as Stevie leaned next to her on the locker's.

"You make like football?" Allison asked as Stevie held up three fingers, "Three, two, one."

"Football's a joke in Beacon. The sport here is lacrosse, we've won the state championship for the past three years." He informed as she rolled her eyes. "Because of a certain team captain."

"Yeah but I hear that the cheerleaders are cold hearted bitches," She remarked picking a thread off her cheerleading skirt. "But than again we are State Champions. Five years in a row, and we're planning to make it six this summer."

"Well, we have practice in a few minutes. That is, if you don't have anywhere else-" Jackson suggested as Lydia quickly cut her off, "Perfect...you're coming." She said before the couple started to walk off. Stevie sighed lightly smiling at her, "She may seem like a lot but you'll soon love her." She sighed out hooking her arms as the walked behind them. "If you need a break just come with me and I can introduce you to the squad. I am the captain after all." She joked flipping her pony off her shoulder seeing Scott McCall watching them walk by.

🐺

Stevie was helping Alec stretch before practice, which got some weird stares from the other guys but she would just bat her eyelashes and they would have all their attention on her.

"You know I hate this,"

"Yeah well I needed to get you in private." She said sitting in front of him as they went into a small splits pushing their feet together. They than intertwined their hands as Stevie pulled him towards her stretching his back.

"Tel...tell me what?"

"I found the fresh meat," She whispered as he quickly switched it so she was pulled towards him. "Scott McCall." She said as the two heard Coach tell him to get in goal. "Who is apparently in goal."

"Lewis!" Coach yelled at him, "Stop playing cheerleader and get the hell over here!"

"Yes Coach!" He yelled before jumping up, helping her up. "Don't kill him, just push him to the edge." She warned both watching him suite up and run over tot he goal.

"And if I get mad?" He asked velcroing his elbow pads.

"You can either run to the locker rooms or get dragged to them. Either way I'll be right behind you. Now go kill it," She said smiling pushing him off before turning towards the girls on the squad.

"Up ladies!" She said throwing her arms up as they all scrambled up, "Welcome back, it's good to see you guy's again. If this isn't your first time with me you already know what I'm about to say and if you're new you better learn quick. Three laps than circle up for me to lead stretches and well start with seeing where everyone is." She called clasping her hand together as she turned back to the field seeing out of the corner of her eye seeing them start the lap.

The lacrosse players stood in their positions as Stevie crossed her arms. The staring whistle blew as Scott doubled over in pain, clutching at his helmet, grunting. The first player, Alec ran forward and threw the small ball towards him, hitting the teen in the head. Sending Scott falling backwards into the goal Alec helped him up hitting his shoulder. "You'll get it sooner or later," He said before running back tot he line.

The next guy ran forward and threw the ball, just for Scott to catch it effortlessly. She saw Stiles was the first to cheer as both were shocked at his sudden talent, "Yeah!"

This continued for four more times, Scott catching every ball the players thrown his way. "I thought he was terrible?" Stevie asked walking over to Stiles. Who did a double take, looking like a deer caught in the headlights.

She than saw Jackson storming his way to the front of the line, angry. "I spoke to soon,"

Jackson sprinted forward with a set jaw and leaped into the air, taking his shot. She watched closely as the ball now sat in Scott's lacrosse stick net. The Stilinski boy leaped from the bench and cheered loudly, earning attention from most of the other students and half the team.

🐺

Stevie unlocked the door and walked in as Alec followed her as the two dropped there stuff on then bench like they always did and walked into the kitchen seeing both their parents waiting for them. "Hi loves," Caroline greeted, smiling at the two.

"Did we do something wrong?" Stevie whispered to him, making him shrug lightly, "I don't know but if they start chasing us you run one way and I run the other?" He suggested.

"Agreed,"

"Neither of you are in trouble," Jacob reassured fixing his back in the bar stool chair.

"Than..." Both of them trailed off not knowing what was going on. Dean sighed lightly before standing up. "The reason we left so late last night was because they found half a body and it was alone the bottom half. But your mother checked it out and we have all came to the conclusion that it is a Hale."

"B-But I thought everyone died in the fire?" She asked softly knowing it was a touchy subject for all of them.

"That's why we believe it was Laura," Caroline said softly looking between the two. "But we still are waiting for Derek to get back to us."

They were both quiet not knowing what to say. They didn't fully know it was her but they also couldn't say it wasn't.

"What does that mean?" Alec asked licking his suddenly dry lips while crossing his arms. Jacob let out a sighed looking over at his son, "What we normally do. We don't do anything that would expose us. You two stay together and no one goes out on Friday because of hunter's."

"But what happened the party?"

"Party what party?" Dean asked raising brow at his daughter. "The back to school party, I already told Lydia and the squad I was going?" She explained twisting the ring on her hand. "Yeah I promised the team I would be there," Alec added.

"Wait a party might be good thing. Bunch of teenagers won't just go running into a party with guns ready to kill." Jacob pointed out as both teen's smiled at him. Dean sighed crossing his arms before turning towards his wife, "I don't know Car it's your call."

She sat in the chair thinking while tapping her nails on her mug, "I would be weird if they didn't go. So you two can go, as long as you keep your eyes, ears preadded." She agreed as the two broke out into grins. "Thank you mamma!" Stevie exclaimed quickly hugging her mom she stopped her. "Hugs are for after you shower." She said than pointed at Alec, "That goes for you to,"

🐺

Stevie was putting the last of her lip gloss on her lips before moving onto fixing the fly a way's from her pony tail. Her head snapped to the door hearing a small knock seeing her mom was leaning on the door way. "Hey, you gotta second?" She nodded placing the gloss down on the makeup tray and turning towards her mom. "Yeah, what's up?" She asked tilting her head as her mom walked into her room and closer to her daughter.

"I just wanted to remind you that it is a full moon and I don't want another police officer standing on our doorway."

The first fully moon after he had left Stevie had let her anger get the best of her. She didn't really remember any of that night. All she does remember is ending up on the door step with a police office behind her and in the morning she was covered in bruises, small cuts and scrapes over herself. She sighed lightly looking back up at her, "I have better control over my anger now and Alec would chain me up before anything would happen."

"I know, which is why I am letting the two of you go out tonight. Because I know you two will look out for each other." Caroline said smiling at her. "I mean we are family after all,"

The Carpenters and the Lewis family weren't related, not by blood at least. The stormy night that Caroline had gone into her shift at the hospital and found out a that Jacob and his pregnant wife Kate Lewis were in ICU, and being that she had just found she was pregnant as well she knew what she had to do. After the bite they became a family.

"We'll be fine. I'll be fine." She insisted and stood up walking over to her mom hugging her. "I know it's just I worry about you two," Caroline whispered as Stevie nodded pulling away, "Which is why we are gunna be extra carful tonight. I swear,"

🐺

"It's lime, salt and than shot!" Alec exclaimed as Stevie quickly shook her head both having gaint grinned. "No, It's salt, shot, than lime." She corrected before taking the shot in that order. Shaking her head as she squished all the juice out of the lime.

"Really? Cause I feel great!" He exclaimed over the loud music with a gaint grin plastered on his face.

"The point of the lime is to put it in your mouth after the shot. How would you take a shot with a lime wedge in your mouth?" She rambled.

The two were tipsy, not drunk because it still was a full moon but enough for there bickering to start. Alec watched as Scott quickly stumbled away, hearing his breathing and heart rate raising and just picking up. He hit her arm repeatedly getting her attention, "Ow, you ass," She muttered before seeing what he saw.

The two nodded at each other before following him out. Stiles was in front of them and Allison was watching his car dive off. And that's when she saw him Derek Hale.

She held her breath bring up her hands and started cracking her knuckles trying anyway to revel some of her anger. Alec saw this and than saw Derek and nudged her, "Leave him we need to make sure he doesn't hurt anyone."

She took a deep breath batting the inside of her cheek getting control of her emotions again. "Let's go,"

🐺

The two stood outside Scott's house watching his room as seeing Stiles quickly park and run inside. "Should we?" She asked motioning towards the blue jeep.

"No, not until we are screaming," He answered before watching Scott jump out of the window and he fully turned. Seeing his ears point and his turn yellow as he let out a roar looking up at the full moon.

They looked at each other smiling, both thinking what the other was thinking. Each were getty and excited by the event as either hadn't seen a new beta turn is forever. They than looked back seeing Scott wasn't there, but both had his scent as new beta's scents were highly traceable.

"You ready for a little game of full moon tag?" Stevie asked as Alec grinned at her, "When am I not?"

The two ran off side by side, and reached the Beacon Hills Preserve. They stopped looking around before looking up at the moon as Alec's eyes flashed yellow and Stevie's blue. "You've found him?" He asked as the two looked at each seeing each others eyes.

She was about to shake her head but found his scent. Not Scott's but Derek's.

She ran off towards it with him close behind. "What did you do to her?" Scott asked as the two saw Derek had him pinned against a tree.

"What did Derek do now?" Alec remarked making it clear that they were standing behind them.

"Besides being a complete and udder ass?" Stevie added.

He glanced over his shoulder and grinned, "Hi Stevie,"

She smirked crossing her arms, "You know he might not be able to kick your ass but we can..." She trailed off as the three looked off into the distance hearing the same thing. "What is it?" Scott asked looking between the three as they quickly shushed him. "Shh, quiet."

"Too late. They're already here. Run." Derek called.

Alec and Stevie ran in way direction as Derek ran in the other seeing an arrow get shot into a tree and started to spark. Another arrow was shot into Scotts arm pinning him to the tree. He groaned out in pain as they saw the hunters start to get closer.

"We need to get him out of here," Alec whispered to Stevie as the two were hiding behind a tree.

"Already on it," She muttered seeing Derek already doing the same thing. The two pulled and tossed two guy in one direction. But when the main guy with the cross bow turned around ready to shoot them, they weren't there. Stevie ran up to Scott and pulled the arrow out and tossed it to the side. "Time to go," She remarked pushing him to follow the boys.

The four kept running and running, till they couldn't see, hear, or even smell them. The turned back and saw Scott hunched over painting and groaning. When he looked back at them leaning against the tree his face was back to normal. "Who were they?"

"Hunters." The three replied in unison knowing them all too well.

"The kind that have been hunting us for centuries."

"Us? You mean you! You did this to me!"

The Lewis and Carpenter teen's glanced at each other raising a brow. Knowing Derek didn't do this but both didn't really cared to speak on the matter. "IS it really so bad, Scott? That you can see better...Hear more clearly? Move more faster than any human could even hope?"

"Quicker," Stevie corrected getting his attention. "It's 'move quicker than any human could even hope'."

"This is seriously not the time, Stevie." He remarked looking at her as she raised her brows. "Well maybe say the right words and I won't correct you. I mean how many times do I have to tell you that?" Alec rolled his eyes at the two bickering, "You've been given something that most people would kill for." He said getting back on topic.

"The bite is a gift." Derek said looking back at him floppy haired boy.

"I don't want it," Scott groaned out.

"You will, and you're gonna need us if you want to learn how to control it. We need to get home, Alec. She needs to know about this, and the hunters." She informed as Alec nodded a the two started to walk away as Stevie glanced back at Derek. Even though she was still mad at him, still pissed and still confused on everything about him. She still felt everything she used to around him. Seeing him just sent all those feelings back and she hated that.

"Hey," Alec asked nudging her lightly bring her back to reality. "You okay with all this?" He asked knowing the two were a touchy subject.

"I'm gunna have to be if we want to help him."

"You wanna do what I'm thinking?" He asked knowing a way to help cheer her up. She smiled up at him "Running to ledge and howling up at the moon, hearing the dogs howl as well?" She asked.

"Actually I was gunna say chase after some alley cats but yours sound more likely of not getting a rabbis shot tonight." He remarked making her laugh lightly before the two ran off.

🐺

"Next time remind me to listen to you about running through low hanging trees." She remarked still picking yellow and red leaves out of her hair, Alec chuckled as he helped her.

It was now the next morning and Stevie and Alec were leaving school and all day she had been finding leaves tangled up in her hair. Hearing a loud car honk and looked towards it seeing Allison walk towards it as an older guy got out and opened the door for her and shut it after she got in.

They both couldn't take their eyes off him, seeing it was the guy from last night. The main guy that held the cross bow.  It was Allison's Dad.

"Oh you got to be kidding me," They both sighed in unison.
