I. Estelle Wolkow was a very tough young woman — she went through very cruel things in life, but that only taught her that she had to protect herselfe. The black haired girl learned to defend herself. She learned quickly how to throw a knife with her eyes closed, and still hit her target perfectly. Estelle could also vanish as quietly as she appeared and had the incredible talent to fade into the shadows like she had never been there. But the black haired girl also had a fire inside of her and that was not just metaphorical. She was a Grisha, an Inferni, many of her Ancestors were Grisha's, so it wasn't a surprise when Estelle learned about her powers.

II. When she was young she was captured by slavers on Ravka and taken away from her family. She was only a kid when she was sold to Heleen Van Houden. The woman was faszinated by her, Estelle had multiple tattoos all over her body since birth. She didn't knew why but that made her Heleen's most exotic one. She forced her to work at her menagerie and there the girl met Inej Ghafa. The two quickly became close friends and stuck together since then.

III. Someday Estelle met Kaz Brekker, his mysterious appearance, his dangerous reputation and the man's voice drew her in. She was curious about him, so at some point she approprached the bastard of the bartel and offered the man her help. At first he denied but after a while he came around and made her the offer to join the Crows.
