KENTO:

KENTO WAS 21 WHEN HE CAME TO KOREA AND BEGAN WORKING AT THE COZY CORNER. kento thought it was stupid name for a restaurant/club, but kento was desperate for a job and had a license laying around.

but then kento somehow ended up as the manager, which is how kento ended up on the hunt for a new employee to work at night. his previous one, jay, had to quit because he's moving back to america. which meant kento only had three to work at night when he really needed four, because the cozy corner was usually the busiest at night.

so thank god his friends were able to find someone on such short notice. now he sat at one of the empty tables, waiting for the girl his friends recommended. since it was only 11:30, the place was a little empty, only filled with a couple college kids getting some homework done.

just then, two women walked in, one of them was holding a baby. the one with the baby walked to the other side of the restaurant, while the other woman walked towards him. kento puts on his glasses to see the woman better and his jaw drops.

"kiyomi?" kento asked. how had he not known his sister was in korea. his own sister?

kento had no idea she was here. he knew kiyomi went away to college, but she never actually mentioned where.

"kento?" kiyomi said his name. her jaw was visibly dropped and she stopped in her tracks. "what are you doing here?"

kento stood up and walked towards his sister. "i moved here two years ago." he responded.

"how come i didn't know?" kiyomi asked, hands on her hips.

kento scoffed. "i didn't know you were here either, key." he said. "you disappeared after graduation without a word to anybody."

kiyomi's face paled. she shifted uncomfortably, refusing to look kento in the eye.

the two weren't really that close when they were younger. in high school, they hung around opposite groups and didn't really interact much. after they graduated and went off to college, they stopped talking to each other all together. their conversations were limited to happy birthdays and merry christmases.

"we should continue on with the interview." kento said, after a few moments of uncomfortable silence.

"yes, let's." kiyomi nodded.

the two sat down at the table kento was at earlier. more silence followed, before kento finally began the interview.

kiyomi hadn't changed much since the last time they saw each other. she was still quiet and reserved, only responding with short sentences.

just before kento can move onto the next question, kiyomi interrupted him. "have you heard from kohana or kazuki?"

oh...well this is awkward.

kento's face must've said everything, because kiyomi's face changed into something unreadable. "so i'm the only one out of the loop?"

"well, it's just hani." kento answered. "the last i heard from zuki was a couple weeks ago on new years."

"oh." kiyomi said with a nod.

"what are the odds zuki's also here, huh?" kento joked, hoping relieve some of the tension.

luckily, this eased out a quiet snort from kiyomi. "then we are officially worst siblings of the century." she said.

kento chuckled and leaned back in his chair. "yeah."

"hey uhm, i really need this job." kiyomi said. "is there anyway i got it?"

"yes." he said without hesitation. "i need someone right now, and you're perfectly qualified." he added.

kiyomi's face lit up. "really?" she asked. kento nodded. "thank you!"

"of course, anything for my sister." kento said. "we should catch up sometime. we clearly need it."

"yeah, absolutely." kiyomi nodded. she then got up. "and thanks for the job, again."

"no problem, kiyomi." kento smiled.

as kiyomi walked towards her friend and she walked out the restaurant, kento couldn't help but feel a little down at the whole thing.

and although they ended things eh-enough, there is obviously a lot to go through to rebuild their relationship.
