사십구. Just an old friend.

Kaito took a step forward and reached his hand out for Sunoo to shake, as Sunoo looked at Kaito right in the eye. Until Ni-ki stepped in front of Sunoo, looking at Kaito with such threatening sharp eyes.

"Less flattering my secretary, more business talk, how about that?" Ni-ki plastered a fake smile and so did Kaito. Sunoo and Taki watched Ni-ki and Kaito head their way to the meeting room along with the rest of Kaito's team, worried that the tension between them will grow into something more serious by the hour.

"What do you think his relationship to Ni-ki is? And how does he know Runa? Do you think he's Runa's ex-boyfriend?" Taki bombarded Sunoo with a bunch of questions he doesn't even know the answer to.

All Sunoo could think about was the same. What's his relation to Ni-ki and Runa? Were the three of them friends in the past or something like that?

"And he called you pretty boy, I saw how much you blushed." Taki teased him, making Sunoo jolt his head.

"You don't know what you're saying." Sunoo scoffed, crossing his arms.

"I think Kaito likes you."

"Taki please, he's known me for ten minutes-"

"Have you ever heard of love at first sight?"

"He bullied me in the elevator. And plus, even if he does, which is disgusting, I won't like him back. I like someone else.."

Taki raised his eyebrows, a smirk plastering on his face as he kept nudging Sunoo's shoulder teasingly. He knows exactly who Sunoo was talking about.

"Ooh, is it..Ni-ki?"

"Shut up." Sunoo bumped the smirking boy, walking away as he didn't want Taki to continue his unnecessary teasing.

-

"Runa-kun!" Ni-ki giggled at how much Runa had been tickling him for the past minute, smiling adorably with his boxy cute teeth.

"And this is the little space where your classmates play. Oh, there's some of them! That's Ni-ki and Runa, I'm sure they'd love to be friends with you!" The teacher had pat the kid's back, leaving him to make some friends.

-

Lunch had come and everyone sat on the floor, enjoying the lunch their parents had made for them. The kid sat alone, getting upset at how no one has approached him yet.

Until a dark shadow had been present.

He lifted his head up and saw the same girl from earlier.

"Hi, why are you eating alone?" She asked with an angelic smile. The boy's eyes dilated, not only was she pretty but she was nice too, and she could be his first friend.

"I-I'm new here, I don't have any friends yet.."

She sat down in front of him, placing her lunch box on the table.

"I can be your first friend. I'm Haruna Atsuko, you can call me Runa." She stuck her hand out for him to shake, as the boy hesitated at first, but clasped his hand with hers.

"K-Kaito Tanaka-"

"Runa-kun!"

Runa had jolted her body to the familiar voice, smiling brightly and waving. Kaito glanced to his left and saw a boy approaching. The same boy earlier.

"I didn't see you at our table." The boy pouted as Runa gave him a small yet sweet hug.

"I was making a new friend, Kaito, this is Ni-ki, Ni-ki, this is Kaito."

"Hi, Kaito!" Ni-ki showed his boxy charming smile, as Kaito's heart sank, eyebrows furrowing. this Ni-ki guy seemed so sweet, extrovertive, and fun, which was the complete opposite of him. The second he had made eye contact with Ni-ki, was the same second he knew that he doesn't like him.

Days turned to weeks and weeks turned to months and months turned to years, Kaito had always included Runa in everything he does, but not Ni-ki. Because even if he doesn't invite him, he'll always find a way to steal Runa away even though that was never his intention. Just like Kaito, Runa is Ni-ki's only friend he actually liked Kaito, but he doesn't understand why he always distances himself.

"Runa-kun, let's go to an amusement park!"

"Runa-kun, I made you this lunch!"

"Runa-kun, I bought us tickets to the movies."

Three years later, Kaito had intentionally been pushing Ni-ki away, making Runa change her attitude completely. All because of Kaito, Runa had changed her view of Ni-ki, seeing him as some weird, deserve-to-be-alone boy, and Kaito can't be any happier because he now has Runa all to himself.

And on top of all, Runa was able to grow feelings for him, and wow Kaito was the happiest boy in the world.

He doesn't care if Ni-ki fell into a well of depression as he had lost Runa to some boy that had been there less than he had, he couldn't care less if Ni-ki had cried, in fact, he found it funny when he saw Ni-ki trying to give Runa a rose, interrupting their little kissing session.

And what even made it better was that when he found out Ni-ki had left Japan and moved to Korea, he felt so happy that he could just ask Runa to marry him right that day.

What he didn't see coming was that Runa had gotten bored of him as well, which crushed Kaito like, a lot. She moved on from Kaito like how she moved on from Ni-ki, but faster. He found out he moved to Korea, knowing well that she must like Ni-ki, which of course drove Kaito mad.

They both disliked each other, but Ni-ki had the most valid reason why Kaito got on his nerves. Kaito had purposely made Runa dislike him, meanwhile, Kaito just didn't like Ni-ki, for no reason, just because he was friends with Runa. Both Kaito and Runa acted like Ni-ki was nothing like they didn't know him.

And now he's back, he's mad, filled with anger to the brim and the only thing he could think about was Sunoo. He doesn't want Kaito to brainwash Sunoo just like what he did to Runa. Ni-ki moved on from Runa, he's just afraid because Sunoo seems so special to him, even after all those years, he won't let Sunoo be stolen else by someone, not even now when he's not sure about his feelings for Sunoo, he..just won't.

He won't let Kaito win, not again.

-

"I think that's it, my staff will inform you more details about the final decision." Ni-ki put on a small professional smile, as Kaito's team had headed their way out of the meeting room. The two were left as Ni-ki stood up from where he was seated, on his way to exit the room as well.

"You've grown so much, Ni-ki." Kaito spoke, making Ni-ki stop his tracks. They haven't seen each other in a decade and Ni-ki never once had the thought of seeing him ever again. The boy that started it all.

"The meeting's done, you can leave." Ni-ki spoke, trying his best to keep calm at the moment. Kaito's signature devilish smile never left his face, standing up and his fingers tracing the marble table as Ni-ki looked at him blankly.

"I thought you'd stay in Korea forever, it's unfortunate you came back." Kaito smiled, facing his head towards the boy who was staying silent because he doesn't want to say something too disrespectful.

"The final decision will be done in a month, I don't want any funny business." Ni-ki assured that Kaito should stay professional, but the latter just scoffed. A part of Ni-ki thinks that Kaito is not taking this partnership seriously, and he's afraid that could be the downfall of Casa De Azure.

"Funny business? Oh, do you mean flirting with your attractive secretary?" Ni-ki's gaze turned darker as he took a step closer to Kaito, wanting him to feel scared.

"If you want to flirt with someone, go to Runa, you like her, right? Or did she leave you too?" Ni-ki fought back, getting on Kaito's nerves as he doesn't like being reminded that Runa hurt him as well. But he wasn't gonna show that to Ni-ki of course, he wants Ni-ki to feel despair again. Kaito smiled, fixing his blazer as he slowly headed towards the door.

"I won't make any promises on not bothering your secretary, after all, he's cute." Kaito smiled once again, before shutting the glass door shut, as Ni-ki ruffled his hair from frustration.

He has to get Sunoo away from Kaito as much as he can.

-

"Subway?"

"Nah."

Taki gasped as Sunoo rejected the idea of having Subway for lunch, as they bickered over what to eat. (ok but srsly who tf dislikes subway like?!??!?)

"I told you, I wanted Pho." Sunoo insisted, making Taki whine again.

"I don't like that, I wanna eat a sandwich!" Sunoo rolled his eyes at Taki's dramatic and picky food choices.

"I can take you for Pho."

Sunoo and Taki turned around, to see Kaito smiling and walking in their direction. Taki smiled, nudging Sunoo's shoulder. Kaito's eyes glistened, looking right at Sunoo.

"There's a Vietnamese restaurant I know nearby, I can take you there." Sunoo gulped at the offer, wanting to eat Pho so badly but not with HIM?!

"Don't leave him hanging!" Taki hoped Sunoo would accept the offer so that he can watch his ship sail, but mainly because he doesn't want Sunoo to win so he can eat Subway.

"So?" Kaito showed a charming smile, making Sunoo hesitate.

I'm only doing this for Pho.

As Sunoo started walking beside Kaito, a sudden grip on his wrist was felt, both Kaito and Sunoo turning around to see Ni-ki panting. Kaito's eyebrows furrowed, wondering how fast he got down there.

"I'll take you for Pho instead." Sunoo widened his eyes, as it dilated, heart, beating fast. Kaito grabbed Sunoo's other wrist, pulling Sunoo towards him as Sunoo just gulped, not knowing what to say in that position.

"I asked him first." Kaito fought, as Ni-ki pulled Sunoo hard, the older's back hitting his chest, making Sunoo's cheeks heat up.

"If anyone were to take him, it's me." Almost everyone had been staring at them, and Taki just stood there, waiting who Sunoo will go to.

"Alright, let him choose-"

"He doesn't need to choose, he's going with me." Ni-ki dragged Sunoo to another direction since he doesn't even know where the Pho restaurant is, making Kaito laugh.

"So..Subway?" Taki smiled, making Kaito roll his eyes and walk away.

-

"S-Slow down!" Sunoo whined, as Ni-ki didn't stop dragging him somewhere else. The younger was just too frustrated because if he didn't interfere, Sunoo would be having lunch with Kaito, which he found so infuriating to think about.

Sunoo panted, looking right at Ni-ki in the eye. Sunoo wasn't that stupid to see that Ni-ki did this because he was uncomfortable with Kaito being with him. His question was why though? Is he jealous? He shouldn't be, Sunoo thought Ni-ki hated him, so that was a long way from the answer.

"What was that for?" Sunoo asked, sounding a bit annoyed as his stomach growled a little.

"He's..a bad..influence.." Ni-ki spoke in between catching breaths, making Sunoo confused. Sure he didn't like Kaito as well, so it made Sunoo wonder if Kaito really was a bad person.

"I was just gonna eat Pho-"

"Then eat Pho, with me. Just not with him." Ni-ki assured Sunoo, and that made the older smile a bit. That sentence gave his stomach butterflies, like a lot.

"Okay, show me the nearest Vietnamese restaurant." Sunoo crossed his arms as he watched Ni-ki look around, only seeing many fast-food chains like Mcdonald's and Jollibee.

"Can't we just get burger king?" Ni-ki spoke, making Sunoo sigh.

"You're just like Taki, I'm going back to Kaito-"

"Wait no! Hold on." Sunoo turned around with his arms still crossed over his chest as Ni-ki tapped a few things on his phone. A few seconds later, the familiar car which Sunoo remembered to be Ni-ki's, stopped right in front of them as it seemed like one of the resort's staff had brought it there.

"Hop on." Ni-ki said as Sunoo was in disbelief.

"There's a Vietnamese restaurant just a few walks away, why do we need a car?"

"Kaito's probably there, so I'll find us another Vietnamese restaurant at the mall nearby." Sunoo rolled his eyes, lowering his body so he can enter the passenger's seat and put on his seatbelt.

"You're so dramatic." Sunoo complained, which made Ni-ki wonder how much of a length Sunoo would go for literally just Pho.

The drive to the mall was short and in no time, Ni-ki had parked the car near the entrance of the basement so it's not difficult to spot the vehicle later on.

"Wait, I have a question." Ni-ki was about to open the car's door when Sunoo suddenly spoke up.

"How does Kaito know..Runa?" Ni-ki's eyebrows relaxed, as Sunoo tilted his head from Ni-ki's sudden reaction.

"He's just..an old friend, that's who. Can we just eat?" Ni-ki asked, making Sunoo gulp from how awkward it is now. Maybe he shouldn't have asked, it seems like he made the younger uncomfortable.

"Yeah, sure."
