One: Blood & Sweat
Chapter One: Blood & Sweat
The cool air was a welcoming comfort to Jolene, her pale blue scrubs clinging to her skin as she walked across the unusually quiet parking lot of Teller-Morrow. This wasn't the first time the doctor had been called to patch up a member of SAMCRO in the middle of the night and she knew it wouldn't be her last. Jolene could feel the tension among the men in the room once she stepped into the clubhouse some visibly relaxing once they noticed her presence. She could see Tig in her peripheral vision, making his way towards her. The brunette took in his blood stained shirt as the blue eyed man dragged her towards their 'chapel'.
"Jesus." Jolene muttered, taking in the scene unfolding in front of her dark eyes.
Marcus Alvarez sat in a chair, a blood soaked shirt by his feet and a bottle of tequila held tightly in his hands. "Wha-" She quickly cut herself off. The doctor didn't ask questions, she never did. She didn't want to know anymore than she had to. "He shouldn't be drinking." She stayed while quickly gathering her hair into a messy bun, her dark eyes connecting with Jax's blue ones for a brief moment.
"We thought it would help his pain." Tig shrugged, lighting up a cigarette.
The brunette doctor let out a sigh as she pulled in a pair of gloves from her dependable medical kit. "Alcohol thins the blood." She said, feeling the men in the room stare at her. It was common knowledge. At least, she thought it was. "Alright, everyone out except Chibs." Her voice demanded.
Jolene knew Chibs was the only one in the room who could help her, the only one who had some knowledge of medical experience. "Now." She spoke through gritted teeth, as they continued to stand there and stare at her.
"Let's give the doc some room." Clay's gruff voice spoke.
She watched them walk out of the room. Jax giving her a faint smile before he left.
Jolene walked over to The Mayan president, a shirt wrapped around his torso soaked with his dark red blood. The brunette removed the shirt, immediately blood began pouring out from the small bullet wound. "It's not that bad." She gave the bleeding man a reassuring smile. "It's a bleeder, but I'll be able to get the entire bullet out."
"Gracias." He spoke through a clenched jaw.
"I hope you didn't have any big plans for tonight Chibs." The brunette said, looking over at the scarred Scotsman. "It's going to be a long night."
"Aye, lass." He nodded in agreement.

Jolene threw her blood covered gloves into the trash with a sigh. Her once clean scrubs were stained with blood also. She had done her job. Marcus Alvarez was stitched up, resting comfortable in one of the dorms while painkillers filled his bloodstream, and a member of his club watched over him. She finished cleaning up her medical supplies and exited the chapel, pulling the heavy doors closed behind her.
"Goodnight boys." She waved a hand at the few men that still lingered around the clubhouse. She was more than ready to get home, take a hot shower, and get a few hours of sleep before another 12 hour shift at St. Thomas.
"I'll walk you out darlin'." Jax said, taking a few quick strides towards her with a smile on his face.
Jolene nodded, enjoying the cool air once again as she stepped out of the hot clubhouse. "Make sure he doesn't drink any alcohol. I don't want him bleeding out after I just saved him." She said as they approached her Jeep.
"You got it doc." Jax laughed. "Thanks for doing this, Jo."
"Sure." She nodded, leaning against her Jeep, letting the air cool her down. "Why didn't you just have Tara do it?" It was a question that had been bugging her since she got the phone call. Jolene wasn't the only doctor SAMCRO knew, and since she came back into town Tara Knowles was the one Jax insisted on calling lately. The brunette wasn't sure if it was because of their rekindling romance, or because of her situation that he preferred Tara to her.
"She's working a night shift." He explained, lighting up a cigarette.
"Right. Well, goodnight Jax." Jolene slid into the driver seat of her Jeep, giving the blonde VP a small wave before she pulled out of Teller-Morrow.

Jolene closed the door quietly behind her as she entered the house. She walked down the hallway, poking her head into the bathroom with the only light on in the house. She felt a smile filling up her face at the scene in front of her.
"Hey." She whispered, walking into the room. "Thanks for watching him." She smiled at Gemma, who sat in the blue plaid rocking chair, rocking the sleeping three year old in her arms.
"Of course baby." Gemma smiled, slowly getting up from the chair and placing the sleeping toddler in his small bed. "Everything okay at the clubhouse?" She asked with concern in her voice.
"Yeah." She nodded. Jolene leaned down to place a kiss on her sons forehead before walking out of the dinosaur themed room, making sure to leave the door opened a bit. "Was he good for you?" She asked, walking into the kitchen and turning on a light.
"He's always good for me." Gemma smiled. "You still need me to watch him tomorrow?"
"If you still can." Jolene sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. She hated asking Gemma to watch Mateo so much, though she knew the older woman didn't care it still made her feel like shit.
"Stop beating yourself up." Gemma's tone was full of authority. "I'll pick him up from daycare. The boys will be happy to see him." She smiled at Jolene. "Get some sleep baby." Gemma said, placing a kiss on Jolene's cheek.
"I'll try." She promised, smiling at the woman she thought of as a second mother. "Thank you again, Gem."
"Stop thanking me, Jo. We're family and family help each other out."
Jolene watched Gemma walk out of the house, hearing her Cadillac pull out of the driveway she made her way towards the bathroom. It was time to wash the sweat and blood of tonight off her body.
