Jasper, Monty and I lead large group of delinquents to the waterfall while the rest stay to guard the camp or do their own thing.
I leave Octavia in charge at camp since she didn't want to come and don't think twice once I see all the smiles around me. I watch proudly as my people let their hair down and have some fun with their friends.
I'm suddenly splashed and I giggle, stripping down to my underwear and running into the water. I tackle Fox under water and she squeals, recovering and splashing me.
I feel someone dunk me under the water and I hold my breath before resurfacing to see Harper grinning at me mischievously.
"Get on my shoulders" Jasper tells me.
I climb onto him and Harper climbs onto Monty's while Fox jumps on Sterling. Harper, Fox and I fight to throw each other into the water with the help of the boys.
Harper and I push Fox and she yelps, falling backwards into the lake. We laugh wildly and I'm caught off guard when Harper pushes me with all her strength.
I topple back and hit the water with a shriek before resurfacing to see everyone laughing at me.
"You suck!" I laugh out and Harper winks at me suggestively.
"Ew!" Fox groans and the boys chuckle at the girl in amusement.
I swipe Monty's legs from under him, causing both him and Harper to splash into the water.
Jasper holds up his hand and I high five him with a proud grin.
The two of them pop their heads above the surface and Monty grabs me in a head lock while Harper splashes me.
We relax and have the most fun we've had since stepping foot on earth. All our worries and problems floating away as we laugh and socialise with each other, getting to know the others more.
The pain in my side soon gets too much to bare and I take a time out, sitting on a large boulder to watch over everyone. The heat of the sun hits my bare skin and I lay back to stare up at the sky through the trees.
As I'm sunbathing I feel a presence near me and I turn my head to see Jasper sit down next me with a goofy smile on his cute face.
"Hi, Jas" I smile, shielding my eyes from the sun with my hand.
"Hey, you looked lonely so I thought I'd keep you company" He tells me and I sit up.
"Aren't you a little angel?" I coo, nudging his side.
He grins down at me and I turn to see Monty staring at Harper with an infatuated look on his face. My lips tug up at one side and I turn back to look at a troubled looking Jasper.
"What's on your mind, goggles?" I question him.
"Nothing much" He shrugs.
I let it go and lay my head on his shoulder as we both look down at the lake full of our happy friends.
"Y'know, when I first met you I had the biggest crush on you" Jasper speaks and I feel my cheeks heat up.
"Really?" I ask, looking up at him and he gulps.
"Of course. Y-You're perfect" He stutters and my heart swells.
"I'm far from perfect, Jasper, but I'm flattered" I grin and he shrugs nonchalantly.
"So, if you don't have a crush on me anymore then who have you got your eye on?" I wonder curiously, looking around all the girls in the water for a suitable Mrs Jordan.
"Who said I don't still have a crush on you?" I hear him ask and I pause in surprise.
"Jasper" I sigh, turning to look at one of my closest friends.
"I know, I know. I've got no chance with a girl like you" He mumbles looking down at his lap.
I sit up on my knees and grab his chin in my hand, lifting it up to look at me.
"Jasper Jordan, you are a catch. Any girl would be lucky as hell to have a guy as sweet and caring as you" I tell him and he rolls his eyes.
"Don't roll your eyes at me. I mean it. If my love life wasn't as complicated as it is, I'd be all over you" I assure him and he cracks a smile.
"For real?" He asks hopefully.
"For real. You're an angel, Jas, don't ever forget that" I grin, kissing his cheek.
"Ava! Ava!" I hear screams and I turn behind me to see Sam and Kyle, two guards from camp.
"What's the problem boys?" I ask curiously.
"We have a situation back at camp. Octavia needs you" Sam tells me and worry courses through me.
I pull myself to my feet and turn to the waterfall.
"All right guys! We gotta head back to camp. It's urgent" I holler and everyone starts rushing to get dressed.
I slip my clothes on and lead the crowd through the woods back to camp.
Once we arrive everyone disperses and I head straight for the drop ship. I pull the cloth on the door to the side and I immediately see Derek, Connor and Octavia.
"You're okay" I sigh in relief, wrapping my arms around the girl.
"I'm fine" She assures me, patting my back.
"So, what's the problem?" I ask in confusion, pulling away from her.
"He is" Derek grumbles and I look to see him pointing behind himself.
I peek around the boy to see a curled up frame of a very bloody, beaten John Murphy and my heart drops at the sight of the state he's in.
"John" I gasp.
I take a step forward and Connor's arm shoots out to stop me so I glare at him in annoyance.
"Get the hell out my way, Connor" I demand.
"Bellamy won't like it" He replies.
"Screw Bellamy" I retort, pushing Connor's arm down and rushing forward to Murphy.
"What on earth happened to you, Murph?" I ask him quietly.
"The little weasel said he was running from grounders" Derek scoffs and I clench my jaw in irritation.
"O, can you make sure everything's okay out there?" I ask sweetly.
She nods and as soon as I see her disappear, I get up and turn to Derek.
"What did you just call him?" I ask the boy calmly and we looks taken aback.
"I called him a wea-" Before Derek can finish the sentence I sock him in the nose and he grunts, grabbing his face.
"What did you call him?!" I repeat in an angrier tone.
"N-Nothing" He stutters, backing away from me.
"That's more like it, Derek. You don't get to call him that" I spit and the ginger nods.
"Where is he?" I hear Bellamy boom.
"Everyone but Connor and Derek out...Now!" He orders.
"What the hell happened here?" He then asks, looking between Derek and I.
"Nothing I couldn't handle. Right, Derek?" I smile at the boy sweetly and he nods furiously.
Bellamy turns back to Murphy and he glances at the boys.
"He claims he was with the grounders" Derek states.
"We caught him trying to sneak back into camp" Connor says.
"I wasn't sneaking. I was running from the grounders" Murphy says, his voice low.
"Anyone see grounders?" Bellamy's voice booms and Connor shakes his head.
"Well, in that case" Bellamy says, pointing his rifle at Murphy.
"Hey, what the hell is wrong with you?" Finn snaps, shoving the gun away from Murphy.
"We were clear what would happen if he came back here!" Bellamy shouts, pointing the gun back at Murphy.
"No! If he was with the grounders, then he knows things that can help us" Finn argues, standing in front of the injured boy.
"Help us? We hanged him. We banished him. And now we're gonna kill him. Get the hell out of my way!" Bellamy barks.
"No. Finn's right" Clarke says.
"Like hell, he is!" Bellamy retorts.
"Clarke, think about Charlotte!" He shouts.
"Shut your mouth!" I hiss, pain filling my chest at the girl's name.
I look down to see Murphy jump away from Clarke in fright. She looks at me and I nod walking towards him slowly. Clarke backs up and I kneel down next to the boy.
He looks at me and looks back down at his knees which are held to his chest. I reach out and gently hold his hand in mine, inspecting the blood covered skin.
"He's not lying. His fingernails were torn off" I state with a frown.
"They tortured him" Clarke realises.
"You and the grounders should compare notes" Finn fires at Bellamy.
"The grounders know we're at war. What did you tell them about us?" Bellamy shouts at Murphy.
"Everything" Murphy says and I sigh, shaking my head.
"Once he's better, we find out what he knows and then he's out of here, okay?" Clarke tells Bellamy.
"What if he refuses to leave? What do we do with him then?" Bellamy asks.
"Then we kill him" Clarke replies before exiting the drop ship.
Everyone else exits too but I stay with Murphy. I get up and walk over to the bucket of water I see in the corner, picking it up and grabbing a cloth too.
I go back to my kneeling position and begin washing the blood off Murphy's hands.
"Why are you helping me?" He asks in a low voice and I smile, rinsing the cloth out before wiping his cheek.
"Because no matter how much of an ass you are, I still care about you" I admit and he frowns.
"You shouldn't" He says and I scoff.
"When have I ever cared about if I should or shouldn't do something, Murphy?" I ask and he lets out a pained chuckle.
