𝗔𝘃𝗮'𝘀 𝗣𝗢𝗩

I numbly kneel by Finn's side as his dead body is laid out on the grass. My head thumps and my eyes sting but I can't even bring myself to cry anymore.

Raven sniffles and whispers as she looks down at him but all I can do is grab his cold hand in mine.

"In peace may you leave the shore. In love may you find the next. Safe passage on your travels until our final journey to the ground. May we meet again" I recite, my voice cracking as I speak.

I lean down, pressing my lips to his cold head before sitting up to look at Raven who tries to smile at me.

"That was beautiful" She chokes out.

"What are we supposed to do without him, Raven? I barely held myself together in Mount Weather, now he's really gone. I can't do this without him" I panic, my breathing becoming fast and shallow as I hyperventilate.

"Breathe, Ava! Breathe" Raven encourages me, crawling around to hold me in her arms.

"We have to do this together, okay? We'll make it through this if we stick together" She assures me and I nod, burying my face in her hair.

"I love you, Raven" I whisper.

"I love you too, Ava" She whispers back.

I try to piece myself back together as I hold Raven as close to me as I can.

"Go away" I hear Raven grit out and I pull away from her to see Clarke looking down at us.

"Raven, I'm sorry" Clarke apologises.

"I said go away!" Raven screams, jumping to her feet to walk over to Clarke.

"I know how hard this must be for you, for both of you, but i'm leaving with the grounders, and I need you to keep working on the radio" Clarke says and I look at her in complete disbelief.

"You just murdered Finn and now you want her to work on your damn radio? How insensitive can you be?!" I shriek.

As Clarke opens her mouth to speak I hear moving beyond and turn to see two grounders picking up Finn.

"What the hell are you doing?" I snap.

"What are you doing?!" Raven shouts, running over to us.

"They need to take him now" Clarke tells us.

"Like hell they do! Get off me!" Raven struggles against Clarke's hold.

"Give us a minute" Clarke tells the grounders and they listen to her.

"You agreed to this?" Raven asks in disbelief.

"We're taking him back to the village where the massacre took place. There's a death ritual. It's the only way to get our people out of Mount Weather" Clarke explains.

"Then we're coming too. And don't worry, i'll bring your damn radio" Raven spits and storms past the older blonde.

I take one last look at Finn before following after my best friend.

As I enter the gates I see multiple people giving me looks of sympathy and pity which only makes me angry due to the fact these are the same people that were trying to throw Finn out earlier today.

I find myself wandering into the garage where I see Sinclair tinkering with some spare parts. I clear my throat and he looks up to see me, giving me a sad frown.

"Have you seen Raven?" I ask curiously and he shakes his head.

I turn to leave but Sinclair clears his throat, making me turn back to look at him. He opens his arms and my eyes water up again as I throw myself into his arms.

"Shh" Sinclair comforts me as I sob loudly into his chest.

"I don't know how to do this without him" I cry.

"Of course you do, Ava. You've made it all this way. You can't give up now" Sinclair assures me but I only choke out another sob.

"I'm only here today because of Finn! If it wasn't for him and Raven, I would have given up a long time ago" I tell the man who is like a father to me.

"Then think about Raven, okay? She needs you right now. Think about your friends in Mount Weather, they need you right now. Ava, we all need you. You can't give up" Sinclair explains sternly and I smile through my tears.

"Thank you for everything you've done for me. I owe you so much" I say sincerely and he holds me at arms length with a warm smile.

"You owe me nothing. I'm just happy I got to watch you grow up into the beautiful, brave young woman you are. Taking you and Raven under my wing was the best decision I ever made in my whole life because I finally got the daughters I always wanted" He replies with such love in his eyes that I choke on a cry with a smile on my face.

I hug him tightly and he chuckles, hugging me back.

"Hey, Sinclair?" I mumble.

"Yes, Ava" He answers.

"Can I use your computer for five minutes?" I ask curiously.

"Sure. I'm going to go find Raven anyways" He nods.

He kisses my head and heads to the door. As he reaches it, he turns to me with soft smile.

"Happy birthday" He tells me and I smile, nodding at him gratefully.

He walks out the door, leaving me alone and I sit down on the computer chair before taking the flash drive out my pocket. I plug it in and open up the file to see it's a bunch of videos. Clicking on the first video named 'dear future self', I press play and sit back.

The first thing that pops up is three small faces that makes me smile. Little Raven, Finn and Ava stare back at me with big smiles on their faces and I take a good look. Eight year old Ava is clinging on to nine year old Finn's back like a koala as he runs from a ten year old Raven who chases them laughing.

"Kids, take a seat!" I hear a sweet voice shout and my breathe catches in my throat when I realise it's my mom.

"Mom!" Eight year old Ava whines, slipping off Finn's back.

Raven kicks Finn's leg in the back ground and he lets out a yelp.

"Raven, say sorry to Finn, right now" My mom scolds her and she gapes at the woman, making me laugh.

"He started it!" Raven argues.

"Raven Reyes" My mom snaps and Raven huffs.

"I'm sorry, Finn" She scowls and Finn grins cheekily.

"Now sit" My mom tells them.

The three of them hop onto the chairs in front of the camera and grin excitedly.

"Do you remember what you have to do?" My mom asks and they all nod.

"Good, I better get going" She chirps, kissing all of their heads.

"I'll see you all after work" She tells them and tears run down my face silently as I watch.

"See you later, Mom!" They all squeak in unison, making my mom grin happily.

She exits the room and the three of them turn to the camera.

"My mommy says that big Ava will see this, so hi!" Eight year old Ava squeals and I laugh, wiping my tears.

"Hi!" Finn and Raven grin, waving at the camera.

"I'll go first" Raven tells the two of them and they nod.

"Hi, big Raven. Are you mechanic yet? Do you have a boyfriend? Are you happy? Are you still friends with these two babies?" The ten year old asks the camera making little Finn and Ava glare at her.

"My turn!" Little Ava screeches.

"Do you like any boys? Did you choose to be a doctor like mommy or a mechanic like daddy? Does Finn still give you piggyback rides? Does Raven still think she's more awesome than you? Does Finn still beat up the boys that pull your hair? Does Raven still kick you under the table? Are you on earth?!" She shrieks loudly.

"Don't be silly, Ava. We won't be on earth" Raven scoffs, making eight year old Ava scowl while I grin at the computer screen.

oh, how wrong you were

A thud is heard and the table shakes a little causing little Ava to squeal and Raven to smirk.

"You kicked me!" Ava accuses her.

"No, I didn't" Raven lies nonchalantly.

"Can I go now?" Finn asks in frustration and we both nod at him.

"Did you ever manage to get these two to stop fighting? Do you still have to get them out of trouble? Did you become an engineer? Does Ava still have a crush on Murphy?" Little Finn asks and eight year old Ava gasps, hitting him.

"I do not have a crush on Meany Murphy!" She shrieks.

"Yes, you do!" Finn argues, making Raven roll her little eyes.

"Oh, i'm going to kill you!" Little Ava screams, tackling Finn to the ground.

The two roll around the floor, wrestling while Raven turns back to camera.

"Does Finn still have a big crush on Ava? He pretends he doesn't but I know he does. That's why he punches all the boys that are mean to her. He's in love with her" Little Raven whispers to the camera dramatically and I smile widely as tears roll down my cheeks.

"What did you just say?!" Finn tells as little Ava pins him to the floor.

"I said that Ava has a crush on John Murphy!" Raven hollers, making little Ava groan loudly.

Raven smirks smugly until little Ava runs up behind her and grabs her ponytail, yanking her off her chair. Finn and Ava laugh while Raven screams, hitting the floor with a thud. Little Ava holds up her palm to Finn and he high fives her.

Raven drags her self up and tries to jump on Ava but Finn jumps in the way. Raven and Finn roll around, screaming as they pull each other's hair and punch each other.

"Dog pile!" Little Ava squeals before jumping on top of them, making them all laugh loudly.

Suddenly the door opens and I see my dad walk in. He lets out a laugh and grabs little Ava, putting her on his shoulders.

He then grabs Finn and Raven in each arm before running around the room and spinning which makes everyone laugh and giggle loudly.

The video ends and it stops on a frame of us all laughing with big smiles on our faces.

"We were so happy" I mumble.

"What happened?" I hear a voice asks and I turn my head to see Raven watching from the door.

"We lost my parents, and now Finn" I answer and she walks over to me, wrapping her arms around my neck from behind.

"If only we could go back in time" Raven sighs.

"I'd give anything to go back to that day" I reply, as we look at the screen.

"You broke my arm that day" Raven scoffs.

"Yeah, but we were having fun. We were happy. We were complete" I state.

"At least we still have each other" She tells me and I lace my fingers with hers.

"Two left standing out of a family of five. Sounds like a tragic joke" I tell her and she snorts.

"And of course it has to be the daughters that survive. The one that trusts too much and the one that doesn't trust enough. The constantly bickering duo that only takes a break in the face of tragedy" Raven rants dramatically, making me laugh.

"Ava! Raven! We're leaving" A deep voice calls out and I turn to see Bellamy at the door.

His eyes drift from us to the screen and he smiles weakly.

"He loved you both so much" The man comments and I smile at him in appreciation.

"We were lucky girls" Raven replies.

I take the flash drive out the computer and slip it back in my pocket.

"Come on, Raven" I sigh.

She squeezes my hand and we follow Bellamy out to the grounders, Clarke and the rest of the group heading to Tondc.
