I collapse right on the edge next to Bellamy and I stare at the drop in utter disbelief, my whole body buzzing with adrenaline.
"No, no, no, no, no!" I shout in pain, Clarke grabbing my hand.
I feel the need to cry but the anger inside me bubbles over, causing me to jump to my feet and spin around.
I run at Murphy and throw a punch to his jaw. He doesn't fight back as I push him to the ground and start socking him in the face.
"What have you done?!" I shout in rage, punching the boy repeatedly.
I'm ripped off the beaten boy and I struggle against the persons hold. Bellamy takes up where I left off and starts landing punches at Murphy's face.
"Bellamy, stop! You'll kill him!" Clarke shouts at the angry Blake.
Finn lets go of me and rips Bellamy off Murphy just like he'd done to me.
"Get off me! He deserves to die!" Bellamy roars in complete rage.
"No! We don't decide who lives and dies. Not down here" Clarke argues and I walk up to the trio.
"Yay, blondie to the rescue. Let's see who dies this time" I sneer and she clenches her jaw.
"So help me God, If you say the people have a right to decide-" Bellamy starts but Clarke cuts him off.
"No! I was wrong before, okay? You were right!" Clarke shouts.
And all it took was the death of a child to see she was wrong.
"Sometimes it's dangerous to tell people the truth. But if we're gonna survive down here, we can't just live by whatever the hell we want. We need rules" Clarke tells him.
"And who makes those rules, huh? You?" Bellamy retorts.
Clarke looks lost at the answer to his question but I speak up.
"For now, we make the rules. The four of us" I announce looking between the three people in front of me and Clarke nods.
"So, what, then? We just take him back and pretend like it never happened?!" Bellamy shouts, the pain in his voice making me feel numb.
"No!" Clarke objects.
She looks down at Murphy's bloodied face and I do too. He looks at me and I rip my gaze from him because he's not the Murphy I used to know anymore.
"We banish him" Clarke suggests.
Bellamy nods making his way over to Murphy and i'm satisfied with her answer.
"Get up" He demands, yanking the beaten boy to his feet.
"Bellamy! Stop!" Clarke protests.
Bellamy drags him over to the edge of the cliff and just when I think he's going to push him, he doesn't.
"If I ever catch you near camp, we'll be back here. Understand?" Bellamy threatens the boy and Murphy nods.
He's thrown to the floor and Bellamy walks back to us.
"As for the four of you, you can come back and follow me, or go off with him to die! Your choice" Bellamy shouts.
One by one everyone leaves until it's only Finn and I standing over Murphy. Finn drops a knife for the boy and takes my hand in his.
"It didn't have to be this way, Murphy" I state and Finn tugs on my hand.
We make our way back to camp and Bellamy gathers everybody by the fire. He and Clarke begin telling them what happened today but I completely tune them out, staring at the fire in a daze.
"..and that's why we decided to banish him" Clarke finishes.
"Anybody got a problem with that?" Bellamy asks and no one speaks up.
Everyone disperses and I turn from the fire, taking a walk. I hear someone following me but I don't turn to see who it is.
"Ava" His voice says and I slow down slightly to let him catch up.
"There could be grounders out here. It's too dangerous to go out alone" He scolds me.
"I can look out for myself, Bellamy" I retort and he rolls his eyes.
"Don't take your anger out on me. I'm just trying to make sure you're safe" He snaps.
"Why do you care? I'm not Octavia" I argue with him and I can see the comment stings but he doesn't give up.
"I didn't say you were" He states and I spin on my heel, stopping dead.
"Then why, Bellamy? Why do you keep saving me?" I groan in frustration.
"Maybe I like saving you!" He shouts.
"Well, maybe I don't want to be saved!" I shout back.
We stand in complete silence, glaring at each other and I groan, turning around and storming away.
"Stop running" He groans.
"Why?" I snap at him.
He stomps up to me and I roll my eyes but they shoot wide open when he plants his lips on mine. I gasp as we part and he smirks, pushing me against a huge boulder.
My back hits the stone and I look up at the older man with a dazed grin. I grab the front of his shirt, pulling him down and connecting my lips with his once again.
He kisses me back hungrily and pulls my thigh up to his waist. I wrap my arms around his neck and jump up letting him catch me and wrap my legs around him.
We part, gasping for breath and Bellamy leans his forehead on mine. I hold his face in my hands and we smile widely at each other.
"You're bleeding" He whispers and I touch my neck before looking down at my fingertips to see blood.
"Shit" I curse and Bellamy lets my feet hit the ground before tilting up my head to look at the cut.
"You should get Clarke to look at that" He suggests.
"It'll be fine. It's just a cut" I shrug the idea off.
He tilts my chin up once more and places a light kiss on my lips. My hands grab his shirt and I make a move to deepen the kiss but I hear a cough.
We split apart like we burned each other and look over to see Octavia with a creepy smirk on her face.
"It's a lovely night, right guys?" She teases us.
"I better get back to camp" Bellamy uses a dumb excuse.
He shoots me a small smile which I return and then runs past Octavia who stands with her hands on her hips. I bite my lip to cover a smile but it doesn't work and she groans, hitting my shoulder.
"This is disgusting" She huffs.
"I didn't complain when you went after Finn" I retort and she rolls her eyes.
"It's not the same. Finn isn't your brother" She argues as we walk towards the waterfall.
"He's my best friend!" I object and she shrugs.
"Then I guess we're even" She states.
We reach the waterfall within five minutes and I sit on the rocks, watching the water hit the river.
I let out a deep breath feeling Octavia come up behind me. The space next to me is taken and I feel her grab my hand.
"How are you feeling?" Octavia asks.
"I don't know how to feel, O" I sigh.
We sit in silence, watching the waterfall run and the moonlight hit the surface. I lay my head on her shoulder and she lays her cheek on my head.
"I'm just so sick of losing people, y'know? First my mom, then my dad, then Raven and Sinclair and Wick, then Charlotte and now even Murphy. I mean, who's gonna leave me next? Finn?" I rant, feeling tears well up in my eyes.
"Oh, A" Octavia breathes out, holding my hands in hers.
"I can't promise you that you're not going to lose anyone else down here because we all are, but I can promise you that as long as i'm here, you're not alone" Octavia tells me sympathetically and I feel hot tears run down my cheeks.
"Thank God they sat me next to you on that damn drop ship" I choke out and we both laugh.
"Thank God" She agrees.
