"𝗗𝗢 𝗬𝗢𝗨 ever wonder what it's like on the sun?" The question came out of nowhere. Roman and Hallie were sat on the grass just looking up at the sky trying to make out shapes through the clouds. The Georgian heat was hot and sticky that created a glaze of sweat to glisten over the pairs skin.

"Not particularly but I'd assume it's fucking hot? You know considering it's a big ball of fire" Roman answered, he was genuinely confused on Hallies thought process but it kept him, and others entertained.

"I never understood that. If a human was up there without protective gear; they'd die almost instantly, the cosmic radiation would begin to burn they're skin. However, they're  death would most likely happen as a result of suffocation. The pressure would also cause your eyes to pop out of your skull and your body would freeze over" Hallie rambled calmly as she used her hand to shade her eyes.

Roman was left speechless. Hallie was highly intelligent yet he'd never seen her actually use it. The girl was stupidly clumsy yet knew so much.

"Hey! That one looks like a cow!" Hallie pointed at the a cloud that slowly drew over them.

Romans eyebrows lifted as he looked at it before nodding, the previous subject leaving his mind "oh it does!"

Breakfast was tense. Awkward and quiet for no reason whatsoever. The silence was almost suffocating before Glenn shuffled a bit before standing up in front of the group clearing his throat.

"Eh guys" Glenn spoke breaking the silence. "There's walkers in the barn" the group immediately started panicking. Hallie's eyes widened at the commotion, she had no clue what to do.

"Bro' what" of course Hallie didn't mean for the words to slip out as Shane looked at his daughter with his eyes narrowed.

"He said there's walkers in the barn" Roman clarified looking at Hallie.

"Yeah I got that"

"what do we do?" abby spoke up, she wasn't one to vocalise her opinions or thoughts in life but now? now she had no choice.

"we bust open the darn thing and kill them" shane said as if it was the only reasonable explanation. abby didn't like shane, she almost hated him but on this one occasion; she agreed.

nodding abby looked at shane standing up and follows him towards the house as shane ripped open the bag of guns handing abby her pistol.

hallie looked at her father before standing up and walking towards him, roman following closely.

"i wanna help"

shane looked at his daughter approvingly handing her a small gun along with roman.

"oh shit" t-dog exclaimed as rick and hershel appeared out of the tree line.

Shane took off into a sprint the rest of the group following along with the greenes.

"what the hell are you doing!" shane yelled.

"shane just calm down" rick stated calmly as he tried to tame the walker.

"why do your people have guns!" hershel almost seethed as if the sight of the weapons made him sick.

"do you see what your holding onto!" shane stressed as he manoeuvred out of the walkers way.

"i see who i'm holding onto" hershel snapped back.

"shane just let us do this and then we can talk" rick begged, hallie was frightened. rick could see that, he didn't want anyone to get hurt.

"dad!" hallie called hoping he'd back down but at the end of the day she'd stand with him, even if it meant leaving.

"what you wanna talk about rick! these things ain't people! they're dead ain't gonna feel nothing for them, cause all they do is kill!" shane yelled attempting to get through the greenes skulls, mainly hershel that they were monsters.

abby looked still, she stared the walkers down ready to shoot them down the minute they got loose. roman stood behind hallie, a firm grip on her arm so if she tried to do anything he could stop her. keep her safe.

"these things right here, they're the things that killed amy! they killed otis, they're gonna kill all of us!" Shane pushed as lori walked over with a still wounded carl.

"shane shut up!"

"hey hershel, man. let me ask you something" shane spoke calmly as he removed his gun from the waist of his jeans. "could a living breathing person, could they walk away from this?" shane asked firing three shots into the walkers chest.

"STOP!" rick yelled.

"walsh get outta' here!" lee yelled as he stood protectively infront of beth.

"that's three rounds to the chest! could someyehos alive, could they take that? why's it still coming!" shane pointed at the walker before shooting it two more times.

"that's it's heart, it's lungs. why is it still coming!" he yelled before firing four more times.

"shane, enough" rick called.

"yeah. you're right, man" shane spoke calmly before strutting towards the walker "that is enough" finally putting the walker down by shooting it in the head.

everyone stood silent, some were disappointed with shane's actions yet expected none the less from the man whilst others were emotionless, having nothing to say.

hershel fell to the ground grief stricken from his fallen friend.

"enough risking our lives for a little girl who's gone! enough living next to a barn full of things that are trying to kill us. ENOUGH! rick it ain't like it was before!" shane yelled he was angry, nothing new.

"now if y'all want to live, if you want to survive, you got to fight for it! i'm talking bought fighting right here, right now!" the man screamed out before b-lining straight to the barn.

"take the snare pole!" rick ordered.

"rick!" lori yelled.

"hershel, take the snare pole. hershel listen to me, man, please. take it now, hershel!"

"no shane, do not do this brother. don't do this for your daughter, do not do this for us!" rick pleaded hoping to get through to shane.

yells for him to stop came from multiple people. abby and shane clocked there guns as andrea ran up to join them along with daryl and t-dog.

shots rang through the group as bodies dropped to the floor. hallie raised her gun aiming for a walker but when it came to pulling the trigger she couldn't. even though these things were trying to kill them all, hallie walsh could not find it in her humanity to kill it. roman silently raised his gun before pulling the trigger. the walker dropped to the floor as he aimed for another, then another.

"stay back!" rick yelled at his wife and son.

and then the lay walker dropped to the ground and the shots ceased. heavy breathing was the only thing that could be heard, aswell as beth's cry's as she watched her mother and stepbrother's corpses' lie still on the ground.

a low growling broke whatever silence they had, quite enough that if their was even a slight chatter it would've been missed. feet shuffling could be heard drawing closer and closer to the barn doors as daryl raised his gun.

a small body stumbled out of the barn.

sophia.

carol ran forwards calling her daughters name as blubbers of grief tumbled from her mouth. hallies jaw dropped watching the young girl make her way around the bodies. everyone felt this pain. no one dared to move before rick slowly walked forward raising his gun before the final bullet released and sophia's body dropped to the floor.

a tear dropped from hallies eye as she heard carole sobs, watching carl in his mothers arms.

"momma" beth sobbed as she ran to her mothers corpse. lee watched his sister before the walker that was once his mother reach up and latch to his sisters arms.

"beth!" he yelled before grabbing his sister attempting to pull her away. the group surrounded her as they detached the walker from the blonde. andrea grabbed some sort of tool before embedding it into the walkers head.

beth leaned into lee as he whispered words of grief into her ear holding the broken girl, they had all lost someone that day. greif clouded them like a blanket and it wouldn't be the last time it pays a visit to the group.
