Shane had left. Not for good, Hallie hoped. He had left with Otis to get medical supply's to save Carls life.

Hallie wasn't religious, last time she had prayed was when her mom left. She remembered every night she prayed her mom would come home, tuck her into bed and hold her when she cried—but she never did,her prayers went unanswered. That's when Hallie came to the conclusion that if there was any god out there, he wouldn't have left  Hallie alone in this world without a mother.

But In this very moment Hallie was ready to get on her knees and beg for forgiveness and mercy. Carl couldn't die, it would absolutely break her. Hallie couldn't lose another family member. So that's what she did. She got on her knees and cried and begged for who ever was in charge to spare Carl, let Carl live.  No matter what it took.

It was early morning, dawn not even breaking yet when the bright headlights of Shane's truck returning shown brightly on the empty farm— without Otis.

Hallie's tears had dried into her skin, leaving pale streaks down her cheeks. Beth hadn't left her side once she returned from the bathroom, even thought the blonde had fallen asleep on Hallie's shoulder she still stayed. Hallie was grateful.

When Shane returned Hallie felt relieved, once she realised he was alone guilt crashed down in an avalanche. She prayed that Carl would live— no matter the consequences. This was the consequence. One life for another.

Death was waiting for a soul, and Hallie knew he would get what he wanted, one way or another.

"Thank god your okay" Hallie cried in relief as her body clashed with Shane's. Her anxiety had spiked significantly being away from her father and she was extremely worried, more than a sixteen year old should have to be.

"I'm fine, honey" Shane choked through his clenched jaw. Shane was already paranoid, Hallie couldn't find out. No way— she idolised her father.

Pulling away from his daughter Shane silently walked inside, Hallie was confused nonetheless but assumed her father was shaken up. She would be. Hell Hallie hadn't even killed a Walker yet.

Everyone had rushed into the house when Shane arrived with the necessities to save carls life, leaving Hallie outside alone.

The cool breeze was enough to send chills down Hallie's back despite the scorching weather they had in the day time.  Pulling the flannel closer to her body, hallies arms snaked across her front attempting to keep in some body heat.

"I get the boy is hurt, but what I don't get is why your all here" the voice spoke casually, yet a venom laced his tone. The sudden noise making Hallie jump slightly.

Shit, he could've been a Walker.

"Otis shot him. I don't meant to speak ill of the dead but I think that's quite the reason" Hallie stated, composing herself as she looked over at the boy.  He was the boy who had been arguing with Beth. Lee.

"Still doesn't explain why your here?" It was more of a statement than a question, yet lee didn't care.

"Carls my family. Blood or not" Hallie mumbled looking out at the fields. She liked it here, she felt safe.

A slight huff came out of Lee, before he turned away from Hallie walking towards the farm house. Pausing, he looked back at the blonde.

"night" and with that he had disappeared into the crowded house, leaving Hallie with only herself had company.

Carl was okay, he would live. That's all that mattered yet Hallie couldn't get Lee out of her head. All she knew was that she didn't like him. He was rude and annoying, disrespectful and very good looking.

Hallie was pacing outside of the bedroom, she was nervous to see the boy. She didn't want to overreact and scare him but Hallie, was scared herself. She didn't know how she would react seeing him, in pain and bandaged up—connected to IV's. She was the same way every time she would visit Rick.

Lee had been leant against a door frame simply watching the girl, a smirk plastered on his face. He didn't like her. No, but she was amusing.

A deep chuckle came from behind Hallie, the girl spinning round to face Lee. "You know you'll never see him if you keep doing that whole 'stressed out mom' pace your doing" Lee laughed as he looked Hallie up and down.

Breathing in deeply Hallie nodded before lightly knocking on the door before letting herself into the room.

"Hi,bud" she smiled softly at the boy who had perked up almost instantly seeing the blonde.

"Hallie!" Carl screeched, joy overtook him— making Hallies smile grow larger.

"How're you feeling?" She asked gently, sitting on the edge of his bed.

"It hurts, like more than when I broke my arm—hurt" Carl sighed as he swung his arm over his stomach.

"Oh shi-sugar" Hallie corrected herself with wide eyes.

"You can say shit in front of me, I'm old enough" Carl said as he attempted to make himself look older.

"Hey! Watch your mouth, kid" Hallie warned before jokingly, slapping his leg.

"This is bullshit" Carl whispered, though he wasn't very good as Hallie still caught it.

"What was that?"

"Nothing, nothing" Carl smiled innocently.

" 'm proud of you, kid" Hallie smiled affectionately at the boy who just smiled back before dipping his head into the pillow.

"Wow... your bald" Hallie blurted out looking at her dad.

"Yeah, no shit kid" Shane nodded at his daughter.

"Woah, what stick crawled up your ass" Hallie joked.

"Watch you mouth" Shane warned, although it wasn't in a jokingly manner that they usually had it was cold.

"Sorry" Hallie mumbled, immediately growing small at her fathers tone.

Shane sighed rubbing his now; bald, head. "Listen, I need to talk to you about something serious" Shane said to his daughter. Hallie jsut nodding, waiting for her father to speak.

"Rick, he's dangerous. He's not the man he was before. You needa' be careful around him, you listen to me and me only" Shane warned, Hallie was confused.

Rick wasn't all that different. He was a worried father trying to survive whilst helping others. Hallie believed her father though. She believed in him. She knew that her father had the best judgment— she knew that he was trying to keep them alive and safe and if Shane said Rick was dangerous—she'd believe him.

"Okay, dad. I believe you" Hallie nodded, standing up as Shane brought her into his chest.

"I love you, Hallie. You are my world and I'll keep you safe till the day I die" Shane spoke seriously, removing his dog tags, pulling them over his daughter head. he rarely said anything like that but no one knew how much time you had left nowadays.

"I love you too, dad" Hallie smiled, toying with the metal around her neck.

𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗡 𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗦

Short and sweet. I know this chapter is incredibly short but this is more of a filler. We got lee and Hallie interactions which we were starved for 6 chapters! I missed them even though I hadn't wrote them so I am incredibly happy we have them even if it is bitter (for now).

Carl and Hallies relation ship means so so much for me and I love them so I always have to throw something in there.

Hallie and Shane. Sigh. Hallie is blinded by love for her father where she will believe almost anything he says as we see, although she knows Rick isn't dangerous (towards her anyways) she trusts her father more than anyone on this earth and he is the only thing she had known since she was a child when her mother left. It's really gonna affect her and her relationships when Shane is killed and I'm trying to lead up to it as much as possible because sadly for hallie that is fastly approaching.

Abbys in work (I think) so they'll kill me for publishing this now but idc enjoy xxxxx
