It's been a week since Jessica died. Sam hasn't been taking it too well. But who could blame him? He loved her, and he watched her die.

But we decided to continue to search for Dad anyway.

Sam was asleep in the back, Carmen was up front with Dean, looking at a map. When Sam woke up gasping. Carmen quickly turned back, "Hey, hey it's okay, everything's okay." She said trying to sooth him the way they used to sooth her after a nightmare. He took a deep breath, "I'm fine,"

"Another nightmare?" Dean asked glancing at then through the rearview mirror.

Sam tried changing the subject by cleaning his throat. "Want to drive for a while?" The oldest suggested. He looked at him in disbelief. "In your whole life you never once asked me that,"

"Just thought you might want to- never mind,"

Sam sighed lightly, "Look...you guys worry about me. I got it, and thank you, but I'm perfectly okay," He said assuring them.

"Whatever you say," She said in disbelief turning back around in her seat. "All right," Sam started, "Where are we?"

"Just outside of Grand Junction," She answered still looking at the map as her confusion appeared back on her face. "I think..."

No matter how many times John tried to teach her how to read a map she just couldn't never pick it up.

"You know what?" Sam wondered out loud. "Maybe we shouldn't have left Stanford so soon."

"Sam, we dug around there for a week," Dean noted. "We came up with nothing. If you wanna find the thing that killed Jessica-"

"We gotta find Dad first," He muttered, cutting him off. "Dad disappeared, this thing shows up again after 20 years, it's no coincidence. Dad will have answers. He'll know what to do,"

"It's weird. These coordinates Dad left us to this Blackwater Ridge." Sam said sighing, looking between them.

Dean glanced towards Carmen, "What about it?" He asked. "There's...nothing. Just woods, woods, and more woods." She noted glancing at Sam, who was looking at the map over her shoulder. "Why is he sending us to the middle of nowhere?" She muttered seeing Dean shrug in response.

Welcome to Lost Creek Colorado

The three arrived at what appeared to be the Ranger Station. Going inside to see the small station. "So, Blackwater Ridge is pretty remote," Sam said looking at a 3D map of the forest. The ridge was labeled 'BLACKWATER RIDGE'. "It's cut off by these canyons here, rough terrain, dense forest, abandoned silver and gold mines all over the place."

"Guys, check out the size of this freaking bear," Dean muttered. Carmen and Sam looked over to see him looking at a picture. "A dozen or more bears in the area, who knows maybe you finally have a chance?" She teased hitting his shoulder lightly.

"You three aren't planning on going out near Blackwater Ridge by any chance?" A man's voice said behind them making them turned around to be meet by the Ranger.

"Oh, no, sir, we're environmental study majors from UC Boulder, just working on a paper," Sam quickly lied.

"Recycle, man," Dean said holding his fist up.

"Bull," The Ranger said. Her friendly smile faded, as her and her brothers looked at each other. "You're friends with that Haley girl, right?" The Ranger asked.

"How you know?" She asked playfully acting like they were caught. "Yes. Yes, we are, Ranger...Wilkinson," Dean replied.

"Well I will tell you exactly what we told her. Her brother filled out a backcountry permit saying he wouldn't be back from Blackwater until the twenty-fourth, so it's not exactly a missing persons now, is it?" Ranger Wilkinson said and Dean shook his head. "Tell that girl to quit worrying, I'm sure her brother's just fine."

"We will," Dean assured and then licking his lips giving a small smirk, "Well that Haley girl's quite a pistol, huh?"

"That's putting it mildly," Ranger Wilkinson said with a small chuckle. "Actually you know what would help is if I could show her a copy of that backcountry permit," Dean said. "That way we could show her brother's retune date." She suggested with a small smile.

It worked, that worked. Normally if they got caught it doesn't go so well. Dean laughed as she was still was trying to process what just happened. "What, are you cruising for a hookup or something?" Sam asked annoyed.

Dean looked over at him with a frown, "What do you mean?"

"The coordinates point to Blackwater Ridge," Sam started. "So what are we waiting for? Let's just go find Dad. I mean, why even talk to this girl?".

They both stopped walking but Carmen didn't, till I got to the backseat. Dean gave a small shrug, "I don't know, maybe we should know what we're walking into before we actually walk into it?"

She rolled her eyes leaning into the open back window, grabbing her backpack and jacket. "Are you two done?" She asked looking between them. They both rolled their eyes at her.

"Since when are you all shoot first ask questions later, anyway?" Dean questioned ignoring my question. Sam gave Dean a look, "Since now,"

She let out a small huff before starting down the street. "Where the hell do you think your going?" She heard Dean say. Turned around to a stop, "You two go talk to Haley, and I'm going to the library to see if this town has anything supernatural." She stated turning back around. "Try anything Dean I will kick your ass!" She yelled while walking away.

"Ugh..." Carmen said annoyed not being able to find anything. Laying her head down on the cold table as she exhaled in frustration.

"Trouble studying?" A voice asked in front of her.

"No, im, um..." She shrugged off looking up to see a very attractive guy in front of her. "I'm just helping my brothers,"

"You have brothers?" He asked with a small grin. "Yeah," She said trying not to act or say anything to werid. "That's cool," He said taking a seat in front of me. "I got a few siblings as well. So, is there's I can help you with?"

"Yes I would love that, you live in the town right?"

"Yeah, it's just been me, my older sister, my older brother, and little brother." He stated. "Really what about your parents? .. I mean if you don't mind my asking," She asked softly knowing that it's a touchy subject for some people. "It's just us,"

"Has there been anything wired in this town? I mean like local legends," She asked curiously. "What do you need with this?" He asked confused.

"We write for a local news column," She stated giving him an excuse.

"Must be some news column,"

"Yeah it sure is," She muttered with a smile. Intently cursing at herself for acting like her older brother.

"But, to answer your question not really," He said shake his head a little. "Not really?" She repeated tilting her head slightly. "Not that I know. I mean a few campers go missing in the forest. In fact last April two hikers just disappeared."

She went to write it that down when suddenly her phone went off. "I'm sorry i thought I turned this off," She apologized turning it over to see a text from Sam.

We talked to that Haley girl and checked into a motel.

When are you coming back?

"I should go, if I'm not back by sundown my brothers will kill me." She started putting her stuff into her bag. "Oh, well how long are you staying in town?" He asked getting up as while. "Um...a couple of days, maybe? I don't really know," She shrugged, slinging her bag on her shoulder. Grabbing her jacket and glancing the table once, "But, I'll see you around," She stated with a smile before walking out of the library.

💽

Carmen knocked on the motel door mental re-checking the room number in her head as Dean opened the door. "About time, I was just about to call you," He said moving to the side letting me in.

She dropped her bag and jacket on the table. "So what you find out?" They asked in unison. "Well, Blackwater Ridge doesn't get a lot of traffic. Local campers, mostly. But, this past April two hikers went missing, never found," She informed after sighing and crossing her arms. "What about that Haley girl say?"

"She strongly believes that something happened to her brother," Sam said. "And that she's going to try and go looking for him tomorrow," Dean continued.

"Let me guess were going," She assumed as they both shook their heads. She shook her head, pulling out a chair and sitting down disappointed with the two's agreement. "What?" Sam said. "I don't know but something's wrong. I mean Dad sends us here, but then there's nothing here..." She said grabbing her Dad's journal, and flipping through it. "Guess what, in 1982, eight different people all vanished in the same year. Authorities said it was a grizzly attack. Again in 1959, and before that in 1936." She informed them out of breath.

Sam went a sat across from me and opened his laptop. "Every 23 years, just like clockwork. Okay, watch this. Here's a clincher I downloaded that guy Tommy's video-"

"Tommy?"

"One of Haley's brother's," He informed as she nodded slowly. "Anyway, I download the video to the laptop. Check this out," He said turning the laptop to the two.

A shadow crossed the screen. Dean frowned, leaning forward, "Do it again." And sure enough Sam rewind it. "That's three frames. That's what a fraction of a second. Whatever that thing is, it can move,"

Dean reached over and hit Sam on the shoulder. "Told you something weird was going on,"

"Yeah," Sam mumbled as he closed the laptop.

"One last thing," She started pulling out a notebook from my backpack. Flipping it to a page and turned it so Sam and Dean could see. "So get this, in fifty-nine one camper survived this supposed grizzly attack. Just a kid, he barely crawled out of the woods alive." She showed them the article.

"Is there a name?" Dean asked looking at her. "Why yes Dean there is a name," She stated with a smirk looking over her shoulder.

💽

They soon reached Mr. Shaw, the only survivor of a supposed 'grizzly attack'. He had lead the three inside, before placing a cigarette in his mouth, "Look, I don't know why you're asking me about this," He started. "It's public record. I was a kid. My parents got mauled by a--"

"Grizzly?" Sam asked cutting him off. "That's what attacked them?"

Mr. Shaw took a puff of his cigarette, pilling it out and nodding. "The other people that went missing that year, those bear attacks too?" Dean asked. He didn't say anything, he just kept staring at them. "What about all the people that went missing this year? Same thing?" Dean continued. He still didn't spoke and Dean let out a sigh. "We know what we are dealing with...we might be able to stop it,"

Mr. Shaw let out a small chuckle, "I seriously doubt that," He said. "Anyways, I don't see what difference it would make." He sat down shaking his head, "You wouldn't believe me. Nobody ever did."

"You wouldn't believe what we have seen either," Carmen softly said looking at him. His eyes shifted to meet to meet hers, "I'm sorry for your family, I am, but if there's anything you remember that can help us take down this monster. Now is the time. Because now you have people who will believe you."

He shifted in his chair before speaking, "Nothing," He said swallowing hard. "It moved too fast to see. It hid too well. I heard it, though. A roar, like...no man or animal I ever heard."

"It came at night, right?" Sam asked gently. Mr. Shaw nodded, looking at him. "Got inside your tent?"

"It got inside our cabin," Mr. Shaw corrected. They all exchanged a glance before looking back at Mr. Shaw. "I was sleeping in front of the fireplace when it came in. It didn't smash a window or break the door. It unlocked it." He looked at them confused, "Do you know of a bear that could do something like that?" He shook his head, "I didn't even woke up till I heard my parents screaming."

"I'm so sorry," Carmen said after feeling the air around them dense.

He looked down, "It dragged them off into the night," He said and then shook his head. "Why it left me alive...been asking myself that ever since. Did leave me this, though." He showed them an old, faded, nasty scar. No bear could do that, it was on his shoulder but went passed what they could see. "There's something evil in those woods. It was some sort of a demon."

💽

The siblings went down the hallway, "Spirits and demons don't have to unlock doors. If they want inside, they would just go through the walls." Dean noted. "So it's probably something else, something--Corporeal," Sam said finishing his sentence. "Something corporeal."

Dean scoffed, shaking his head. "Corporeal?" He mockingly repeated.

All the while Carmen's head was spiraling not paying attention to either of them.
What unlocks a cabin from the inside. Kills the parents, but leaves a kid? It doesn't make sense, none of this does. Doesn't kill for a couple years. When they do it hunts in the forest. What the hell is this thing?

"Carmen are you listening?" Sam asked. "Uh?" She hummed breaking from her thoughts. "We were talking about the case, how Sam doesn't want to go with Haley to the woods to find the missing kid?" Dean said as Carmen just realized they were outside by the Impala. "Right," She stated nodding her head. "Why don't you want to go?"

"Nevermind," He said shaking his head. "What?" He asked the youngest and oldest who were both looking at him. "Nothing," Dean and her said in unison. He threw a duffle bag at Sam, "Come on," He said to me wrapping his arm around her as they walked off as Sam followed close.
