Grace Grove remembered the looks she would get when she was a little girl. The way the doctors would look at her with disgust and hatred. She was tested, each day more and more harder.

She liked to imagine one day she would escape, that she'd be free of being someone's lab rat. Her powers were deadly, most of the doctors kept there distance from her, calling her a little grim reaper.

She remembered the day they all perished away, the same day her uncle rescued her from that hellhole. Every since then she's been hiding who she truly is, keeping her hands covered with gloves her uncle gifted her, the same pair he once wore the day he saved her from her prison.

She used to think if she had a normal life things would be good for her, that maybe by some miracle people wouldn't be so terrified of her. That she could walk around with her hands free, that she could touch someone without them shattering away into sand.

Cate gave her a chance, for once Grace felt normal, she had friends who were hellbent on figuring out what the woods was. She didn't think she would be dragged in with them, she didn't think she'd be a hero.

this story was just sitting in my drafts for weeks, I was gonna originally publish this once I finished my boys fic, but I got excited. Hence the early publish, I likely won't update this right away, but when I do, don't be surprised if I binge write the entire story. Also you don't really need to read my boys fic to understand this one, unless you'd like Nathaniel backstory, but regardless do what you'd like reading wise.
