You woke up at around seven in the evening to the feeling of you coming to an abrupt stop. You fluttered your eyes open and looked around.

The sun was getting ready to fully set you could tell by the burnt orange colors that riddled the sky. Around you, was a small little neighborhood that was directly in front of a beach. You were parked in front of a familiar little house.

"Oh you're up. We're here." Connie began to unbuckle his seatbelt and get out of the car.

"Where are we exactly ?" you asked, getting out of the car yourself.

"Sanibel Island. You remember the house we pretended we were gonna buy during that open house ? This is the one."

You turned and looked back at the house, recalling the memory from the last time all of your friends came here. Way before the boys went on their first tour, Sanibel Island was your go to vacation spot. You guys would pull together whatever money you all had and get a hotel suite, so that all of you could sleep in it.

Though you were happy to be down there, the hotel was a ways from the beach. So, you guys always wanted to get a little house by the beach. You still remember the open houses you guys would crash and all of you pretended to be rich kids in look of a summer home. The simpler times.

"You bought it ?"

He rubbed the back of his neck. "Not yet. But I was able to rent it for a bit."

You nodded and helped him with the bags that were in the trunk. Before going in, he threw his arm around you and grabbed the duffle bag you had in your hand. "Let me do it."

The two of you walked up the paint chipped white steps and onto the porch. The house was the same bright aquamarine color it was when you first saw it. The white door was unlocked by your boyfriend and he let you go in first.

It was decorated with a bunch of "boho" things. From hammocks in the living to funky colored furniture. It had a kitchen and a few rooms. Not shabby at all but definitely not too big. It made you happy just being able to be in the house.

"So do you like i-"

You cut Connie off with a kiss on the cheek to which he automatically started blushing. "I love it. Thank you."

"I'm glad you do but I have another surprise for you. You ready ?"

"Lemme just take a shower real quick."

As you began to walk to the bathroom, he wrapped his arms around your waist, following behind you. "We're taking a shower ? Sounds fun."

"No I'm taking a shower and you're gonna wait for me to come out." You cupped his face in your hands and placed a kiss on his lips before going. "Tomorrow morning though."

You hop in the shower, slowly unwinding and washing yourself off. When you were done you threw on a basic white sundress that you really use to sleep in and walked out of the bathroom to meet your boyfriend.

He told you to follow him. Connie took your hand in his, interlocking each finger with yours. Connie took you outside the house and walked to the side of it, where you guys saw stairs that led up to the roof.

He made you climb up first, just in case he would be able to catch you if you somehow slipped. As soon as you got up to the roof, you looked at the beach below. The both of you listened to the waves as they crashed onto the shore, leaving traces of sea foam. The sun looked as if it was being swallowed by the ocean as it reflected pink and orange colors.

Next to you, you notice blankets laid down, a laptop, a few candles, and a picnic basket. You start to walk closer to it, Connie grabbing onto your hand. "What's this ?" You crouch down onto the big blanket.

"The first surprise of many." He sits next to you and tucks the both of you under some of the extra blankets. He pulled the laptop closer to him. "Okay so we can pick between two movies. Shark Tales or The Proud Family Movie."

You hummed a little bit as you thought about your answer. "Shark Tales."

He nodded and put the movie on, setting the laptop in front of the both of you. The both of you busted out the snacks. Connie even fed you grapes, since it was something he saw in a movie. You seemed to think it was romantic so that was all he needed.

You were a little surprised by how much planning went into this little impromptu date. Apparently while you were sleep on the ride here, he managed to get some italian takeout. The rest of it, he must've had in his car without you noticing. It was things like this that made you fall for him more and more each day.

It was the part in Shark Tales where Lola offers Oscar her grandmother's pearl. Now was the time he would make his move. Now was the time Connie would get something off of his chest that he's been wanting to for a while.

You felt as he reached behind him subtly, as if he was looking for something but didn't want to take your attention away from the movie.

"You okay ?" you ask.

"I'm fantastic," he answers in a sing song voice.

He must've found what he was looking for because his hand that was just reaching behind him was now balled up in his lap. Connie leaned forward and paused the movie. "So (y/n). I need to tell you something but promise you won't freak out."

You looked at him confused. "Why would I freak out ?"

"Just promise."

"..O..kkayyy. What's up ?" You bring your knees up to your chest to rest your head on, tilting your head so that you could look at his nervous face.

"Wait actually. Before I do.." Connie relaxed his balled up hands, revealing a black jewelry box. You raised your eyebrow. He opened the box, revealing a two identical gold chains with small lockets attached to them. "Look inside of one."

You gulped and reached down to hold it. Your touch was delicate, cherishing the precious item. You opened it and inside was an engraved message and the picture from the day of their label's brunch, of you fixing the buttons on his shirt. You squinted your eyes to read the text : "to my soulmate. if your love was all i had in this life..."

Connie held up the matching locket for you to read. "...that would be enough until the end of time."

Your bottom lip formed into a little pout as you felt yourself get a little emotional. The warm tingly feeling you had inside of you was something very unfamiliar.

I know I've always talked about how Connie was a breath of fresh air compared to your previous relationships. But he was more than that. Connie singlehandedly helped you heal from a traumatic relationship such as the one you had with Jay and somehow reteach you a whole new definition for the word 'love'.

As mentioned before, love was a word in the dictionary that had such a simple definition. Love was this moment right here and right now. And it definitely wasn't something you would tell everyone. But right now felt right.

"So about what I wanted to tell you-" Just as he was about to finish his sentence, he got a phone call. If it was anyone else he would've declined it but it was Zeke. Connie lets out a frustrated sigh and excuses himself.

You were left alone for about ten minutes. During your moments of solitude, you unpaused the movie and popped a few pieces of the miscellaneous candy Connie bought into your mouth. You found yourself rereading the little messages in both lockets and looking at the little picture over and over again, as if you weren't the one who was in it.

"Hey." You turn to see him doing an athletic jog back over to you. "What part you at ?"

"Ummmm I dunno I was focused on these," you answer, looking back down at the necklaces.

"Here let me put it on for you." Connie reached to one of the lockets and put it around your neck, moving your braids out of the way. You looked down at it one more time before putting the matching one on him.

"So that thing you wanted to tell me-"

Connie's face glowed a bright red. "Nothing never mind."

"You sure ?"

"Yeah."
