She started with Edward seeing as he was the one she'd shared most of her classes with but the boy quickly said no.

With the gruffness of his voice she thought she'd upset him but he just said parties aren't for him but suggested his other family, specifically Alice.

She just hummed but caught Edward staring at her with a small smirk, "what?"

He just shrugged going back to his work but the quirk of his lips never melted into a line, "nothing."

She count believe she was going round the school like a stalker asking the Cullens if they'd like to go to a party. She went to Jasper but found him in the library with a book about the Civil War in his hand and knew he'd have the same answer as his brother.

Violet didn't bother asking him but when he looked behind as if knowing she was there they shared a small smile. When Violet left she realised the warm and cosy feeling had returned but the further away she got from the library the quicker it faded.

Her eyebrows furrowed surely it wasn't a library of all places that gave her comfort.

She had gym and sought this as an opportunity to ask Emmett something told her that he'd be more interested than any of his brothers.

"Heck yeah!" He boomed and she sighed in gratitude at least one Cullen would definitely be coming. "Can Rosalie come too?"

"I was just going to ask the same thing." He walked her to lunch afterwards with his arm around her shoulders and she couldn't lie when she felt as if there was a five pound weight on them. Emmett walked with a pep in his step and a smug grin whilst he would be having to more or less drag Violet along she scuffed her feet along the floor dirtying her vans even more.

Alice was sat at the table with her family as they waited on Emmett and could hear who he was with. Her scent was faint but still she could smell it even from behind the door, Violet smelled like everything sweet. Although, after she'd have a cigarette that would fade away and soon enough Alice's face would cringe as nothing but a stench of ash was left.

Emmet still had his arm round her and was guiding Violet to the table with a smug look when Alice perked up in her seat with her bright eyes shining.

Violet caught sight of the girl and ducked out of Emmett's reach before turning away with a awkward chuckle. She ignored his hurt expression, muttering a small bye and headed back over to her table where her friends were sitting.

She didn't catch sight of Alice's shoulders slumping as she slouched in her seat with her chin resting on her palm with her elbow resting on the table, covering the marks her fingers had left. Her family have her a pitiful glance and Rosalie rubbed her back as her sister's mood quickly deflated.

"Well what did they say?"

As soon as her bag dropped to the floor the two were staring at her in eagerness which she sighed at, "Edward and Jasper aren't coming but Emmett and Rosalie are."

She thought the pair of them would be disheartened but only Brody groaned loudly whilst Alexia hummed happily.

"The one guy I like isn't going," Brody grumbled, "I'm not coming."

The two girls just shared a look, "yes you are."

He sighed wistfully, "yeah I am." His eyebrows furrows, "wait, what about Alice?"

Violet felt her breath hitch and her silence was enough for them, "you didn't ask her!" Alex whisper shouted with her eyes wide.

"No I didn't."

Brody scoffed a hearty laugh, "well now's your chance," he pointed to the Cullen's table with no shame and she slapped his hand down.

She made it clear she wasn't moving, "we'll shout you have a crush on her if you don't get up," Brody told her with a serious gaze.

Alex nodded already clearing her throat.

"I don't even- whatever I'm not going," she was testing the waters waiting to see if they would go through with it.

He opened his mouth wide, "Viol-

Violet quickly stood up and was headed to the Cullens table now without her confident stride, Alex and Brody shared a fist bump.

As she walked up to the table she contemplated running out the door but their gazes had already settled on her. Apart from Alice's who was sitting face down on the table, she gave a small smile to the family before tilting her head at the small girls posture.

The rest of the Cullens hid small laughs, "um, Alice?"

At the sound of her voice she snapped her head and body up quickly the sudden movement made Violet step back slightly.

"Yes?" Her voice was squeaky and high pitched unlike her normal tone. She was sure if she was human her face would be the colour of Edward's uneaten apple.

Violet shifted her weight from either foot suddenly sweating and nervous, "I was wondering if you'd like to go to a party."

Alice beamed instantly her pearly whites being shown off in her toothy grin and the Swan felt herself relax at the sight.

Jasper and Edward shared looks from across the table, "sure, it's a date," she said without thinking and Violet felt her words catch in her throat. She didn't want to squander what the girl had said but when she turned to her brother it was made pretty clear that she wasn't referring to just the two of them.

Without speaking she just nodded back timidly unlike herself at all, she'd spoken to the girl countless times but with her family around it felt more like a interview.

"Jasper?" He looked up at her with a gentle gaze and she suddenly felt relaxed once more. "Are you sure you wouldn't consider coming, my friend would love it if you came."

He let his gaze flicker past her making eye contact with Brody whom had been staring at them since Violet got up to leave. Brody quickly looked down realising he'd been caught out and now stared at the floor instead.

"I'll think about it," he cooly said and she gave him a nod with pursed lips before turning to Edward.

He just shook his head as if he read her mind, "Party's really aren't for me."

"Fun sucker," she joked and the two shared a small laugh.

Alice looked between them with her eyes narrowed and a small scowl that looked out of place on her tender bow lips.

When Violet walked away Alice looked to Edward with a piercing gaze. At the thoughts in her head he shuddered slightly before holding up his hands in defence.

She sat down and rubbed her temple- she needed to smoke badly but the two were already on her case.

"What did she say?"

"Is she coming?"

"Yes!" She hissed to make them be quiet, "and so is your boyfriend," Brody had a small grin on his face with blood rushing to his ears. "I need a smoke anyone coming?"

The two shook their heads they never really joined her in smoking at school in fear of getting caught but still she always asked.

She left rather quickly in search of the bleachers with her hand already itching to grab the pack in her pocket without knowing that a pixie was following her hot on her heels.

Since her first time smoking she used to do it in bathrooms and round the corner of schools but now she was sat on top of the bleachers without a care.

She breathed in deeply with her back and head resting on a row behind her, the cigarette pinched tightly between her fingers.

"Your getting bolder," a voice knelled to her left and she peaked an eye open to see Alice.

"What do you want, Pixie?" Alice's lips twitched upward.

She took another drag but angled the smoke away from Alice as she came to sit on her left where her tattoos were freely on display.

The girl let her fingers trace over the ink on her hand and Violet shuddered slightly at the coldness Alice aways seemed to emit. She stopped asking permission to touch Violet's tattoos last year and when she heard no protest from the Swan it became a routine.

"Just wanted to see if you were keeping to your old habits," her nails ventured upward and Violet felt the cold biting her, "which you are."

She added in a scolding tone which Violet only chuckled at glancing down at the girl with a wolfish grin. The sight made Alice freeze and abruptly stop venturing up the girls arm, "I try my best."

Violet ended up throwing the cigarette down the ends of the bleachers not wanting the smell to affect the girl next to her. She had been told countless times about how nasty it smelt by those around her but when Alice said it she became self conscious.

"My family wanted to thank you for inviting them to the party," Alice said but Violet just hummed closing her eyes and chewing on her bottom lip at the sensation of her nails trailing up and down her arm.

"It's not my party but," she trailed off forgetting what she was going to say or rather not wanting to say what she was thinking.

"Who's party is it?" Alice asked glancing up at Violet from where she sat.

"Emma Jenkins'."

"Oh."

Her tone has lessened from its usual gentle and light voice now it sounded quiet.

"Oh?"

Alice now had both of her hands on Violets arm moulding the thin black lines with her fingertips as if her skin was made of clay.

"I just didn't know it was her party," she played off but Violet didn't buy it and instead of keeping silent she spoke up.

"Okay now the truth," she was lenient but just the right amount of firmness made Alice let out an unnecessary sigh.

She took her fingertips away from her arm and put them in her lap, Violet didn't like that but wasn't about to beg for her to put them back.

"I heard what you said," she mumbled tugging the loose string on her jeans finding them more interesting than the hazel eyes that bored into her. Alice saw no reason to lie to the girl next to her apart from shyness that was clear on her face.

"What did I say?" Surely she hadn't been that loud with her words that she had been able to hear her from across the room, amongst all the talk as well.

Alice finally looked up from the pink gum next to her boot and Violet noted how she'd changed slightly since they last spoke this close to one another. Her hair was darker which reflected her eyes sometimes Violet remembered when she would see Alice sporting brown eyes instead of the usual gold.

Her eyes, wide and unusually bright for a girl living in such a bleak town as Forks, the colour of the sun just before it begins to set. Yet, whenever her brown eyes emerged Violet was reminded of charcoal in the centre of a maroon ocean.

The Swan didn't care for whichever eye colour she had for Alice looked gorgeous in either.

"You said-

Suddenly, she stopped talking her stare holding nothing but blankness. She didn't move and Violet wasn't going to lie, she thought the girl was having a stroke.

"Alice," she grabbed the younger girl by her shoulders and shook her. It didn't work she sat rigid and unmoving with her body so tense it looked as though a limb would soon fall off. Violet shook her more violently, "Alice!"

Her voice cut through Alice's trance and she let out a shallow gasp holding her head slightly trying to rid herself of whatever thoughts but realised that Violet still had a tight grip on her body.

"What the hell was that?" She removed her hands quite quickly when she saw Alice glance at them.

"Nothing," Alice just smiled once more but this time with less teeth, "I have to go."

Violet wanted to call after her, wanted to ask what was wrong but again bit her lip and kept her silent vow.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?" She roughly grabbed her bag and threw it over her shoulder completely dodging every student. She'd made an executive decision with herself that she would be skipping the last two periods, who even needed double maths anyway.

As Violet swung her leg over the bike and put her helmet on she didn't miss the pointed gaze that more than one Cullen was giving her.

Not even slightly annoying, she thought with a huff already eager for nightfall to arrive.
