THE WIND SANG a song to the earth, whistling and howling to the beat of the falling rain. It danced with the droplets of water in a tornado of pirouttes to impress the green leaves of the trees which rustled with appreciation and swayed along too.

Selina still sat on the windowsill, overlooking the evergreen garden where Emmett and Felix sat putting their minds to work with the chess game after three hours- but time wasn't the same for vampires.

She didn't mind the rain obscuring her vision, it was peaceful and she loved that she could do something so mundane as watching the drops race to the bottom of the glass and anticipate which one would reach it first.

She heard footsteps, only faintly because of natural vampirism stealth so she wasnt surprised when a hand rested on her shoulder and she looked over to see one of the trackers.

"Hello Angel" he kissed her cheek and sat on the other side of the windowsill, one of his legs dangled over the side and the other was bent so his knee leant against the glass "it's been a while"

She tilted her head "I hadn't realised" she said sheepishly and he grinned, brushing his hand across her cheek.

"I guess you didn't miss me as much as I missed you then" she held his hand and kissed the knuckle softly before letting go but he kept his hand in her grip.

"I didn't say that" she kept her head on the bricks behind her and just looked at him "where's Victoria?"

He rolled his eyes and groaned "shopping" he said the word as if it were a poison and Selina laughed which made his face brighten "and" he drawled "I thought we could spend some time together"

It was true that James and Selina just didn't seem to have the same relationship as her and Victoria- somehow the trauma of his near death had brought the two girls even closer and he would be lying if he said he wasn't at all jealous.

She looked him over suspiciously and he didn't meet her eyes.

"Sure, I'd love to" he grinned and pulled her up from the window "what are we doing?"

He scratched the back of his head and looked a little sheepish.

"I'm...taking suggestions" he said slowly and she laughed softly, grabbing his hand and pulling him into the rain as he gasped "what are we-"

He stopped when he saw her smiling face, looking up at the sky and feeling the raindrops on her face.

"Dance with me" she grabbed his hand and he allowed her to pull him along.

They span and danced in the cold weather until their clothes were soaking and their hair flattened to their heads. The wild dancing turned into a slow dance, their arms wrapped around each others with Selinas head resting on his chest.

"What's gotten into you?" Selina asked and he tightened her hold around her waist.

"Nothing" he tried and she lifted her head and moved her arms to his neck.

"Run that by me again" she raised and eyebrow and he kissed the tip of her nose.

"Just wanted to spend time with you" he looked into her beautiful red eyes and she brushed his long hair away from his face "I was scared of losing you" he muttered quietly and she kissed the underside of his jaw.

"That could never happen" she reassured "I'm sorry...I know we haven't had a lot of time together with my training and your hunting"

"It's not your fault" he pulled her back inside "uh maybe we should change our clothes"

"And have a shower" she smiled cheekily at him and pulled him to their shared room with him smirking with a hunger in his eyes.

...

"So I was thinking" Selina mused as she walked out from the bathroom, drying her hair with a towel with her chest bare and another towel wrapped around her waist "we should make time to spend together"

He looked up as she entered from where he lay on the bed, a towel wrapped around his waist with his hand holding up his head, his hair down and messy.

"How do you mean?" He asked and she pulled on a dressing gown before crawing onto the bed to lay on his chest.

"I mean I'll move training so it doesn't overlap with your free time" she hummed as he ran his fingers through her hair "then you won't feel needy for attention"

"Hey!" He growled and she giggled, trailing her fingers along his chest as his other hand ran up and down her side.

"I missed you just as much you know" she added softly and he looked down at her "I just didn't know if you wanted to spend time with me"

He shifted so they were laying on the pillow facing each other "what gave you that idea"

"I don't know" she answered honestly "you've been with Victoria for so long I was worried you disliked the fact that I'm here now"

He looked at her, trying to gauge if she was being serious "if anything" he started and nuzzled his head in the crook of her neck to place a gentle kiss there "we waited so long and now you're finally here we're- I'm trying to adjust. I'm a pretty lucky guy with two beautiful women by my side and maybe I'm trying to figure out what I did to deserve it"

"Don't dwell on it" she twirled a strand of his hair around her finger "I thought the same thing when I first met you guys. I was concerned that I didn't deserve you but when you both accepted me so easily I knew that there was no point questioning it...it was just meant to be"

He looked up at her face, taking in every detail and smiled softly "yeh....yeh I suppose it was"
