.โนโโท CHAPTER THREE !
โณ โthe omen of deathโ
DRACO MALFOY WAS surrounded by a keen of Slytherin whom he apparently was entertaining with a very funny story.
As soon as the small group of Gryffindors walked past him, the blond boy gave a terrific performance of a fainting fit and earned hooted laughter's from his friends in return.
"Hey Potter!", Pansy Parkinson screamed after them, sounding like a tortured cat. "Potter! Uhhhhh the Dementors are coming!"
Annabeth stared straight ahead, her head held high as shepulled Harry past the group without looking at them.
"What a bleached giant idiot!", she began to mumble as she flopped down next to Fred and George.
The Gryffindor table was filled food, students surrounding it as they chatted with bug smiles.
The twins laughed loudly. George had a big smirk on his face as he looked at his twin, "The loudmouth, yesterday evening when the Dementors were in our wagon, he wasn't so brazen. Came running into our compartment screeching, do you remember, Fred?"
"He almost pissed himself", Fred aggred amused before he took a sip from his pumpkin juice. The three looked past Harry at Malfoy, who acted again like he would faint.
The laughter's from his friends could be heard and Annabeth fought the urge to hex him right then and now.
"After all, he didn't pass out, did he?", Harry questioned them weakly, while looking down at his plate.
"Don't be so hard on yourself, Harry. If you remember I fainted as well", Anna spoke up, looking at her brother, who met her eyes.
"Yeah, but he only jokes about me", Harry stated shooting Malfoy a glare.
"Forget it Harry", George tried to cheer the boy up while he grabbed a toast.
The ginger boy nudged his brother's shoulder, "Fred, do you remember how dad had to go to Azkaban? And he said it was the worst place he had ever been, he came back very weak - These Dementors suck your happiness away wherever they are."
Fred looked at Harry as he added, "Most of the prisoner's go insane."
Annabeth shuddered at the thought of Azkaban and Sirius Black, who was probably wandering through the woods, on his way to come for her and her brother.
"Our timetables are there," Hermione's voice pulled her out if her thoughts. The brunette beamed as she handed them to the other's.
"We finally have a couple of new lessons", she announced happily as she sat onto the bench next to Annabeth.
The Potter girl leaned towards her friend and quickly checked her schedule. Hermione had about 10 lessons in a single day.
"Are you sure you can take all this classes?", she asked her friend disbelieving.
Hermione looked up and shrugged, "I can do it. I discussed everything with Professor McGonnagell "
"But look-", Ron said laughing disbelieving as he looked over her shoulder as well.
He pointed at the timetable, "What about this morning? Nine o'clock fortune-telling, and below that, at nine o'clock, Muggle studies. How do you want to be in two different classrooms at the same time?"
"Don't be stupid Ron, how am I supposed to be in two places at the same time?", Hermione raised an eyebrow as she questioed him briskly.
"And how do-?"
"Give me the butter, please."
"But-"
"Oh my god Ron, it doesn't matter as long as she manages it all. Now hand her the butter!", Annabeth sighed annoyed before she bit into her bread.
"And how's your schedule?", the twins asked her as they both leaned over to her.
"It could be worse. I just hope arithmetic doesn't get as hard as it sounds", Annabeth sighed as she turned back to her meal.
"And your's?" she asked before taking a sip of her juice.
"You chose arithmancy?", Ron asked her disgusted while he stuffed a piece of bread into his mouth.
"Our day sucks", sighed George as he leaned on the table, ignoring his younger brother. "The first two hours Herbology, then History and then Potions."
Fred rolled with his eyes as he exclaimed, "with Slytherin!"
"The last two hours of Defense Against the Dark Arts are my only hope today", George sighed hopefully.
Annabeth nodded with her head as her eyes wandered off towards the Professor, "I think the Professor seems nice."
"Yes, he seems to now his stuff", Fred told her as they watched the Professor for a moment.
The way to the north tower was long. Even though she was already the third year at Hogwarts, that time was still not enough to know every corner of this castle.
Annabeth inhaled heavily as she finally climbed the last step into the classroom.
When she entered the room she scammed her surroundings. It was definitely the strangest classroom she had ever seen.
It looked like a mix between an attic and a silk shop. The large room was bathed in a scarlet light and the curtains on every window were drawn.
Not even a single ray of light shone through and red silk scarves had been placed over every lamp.
Annabeth immediately noticed that the air in the room was very stuffy and warm.
"Where's Hermione?", Ron suddenly questioned her, the girl looked at him before she let her gaze wander around the room.
The young brunette girl was nowhere to be seen, eventhought Annabeth was sure that Hermione had been right behind her when they had climbed up the stairs.
But before she could think about it further, a smoky voice spoke up.
"Welcome! How nice to finally see you in the material world!"
The students all look around the room confused, until a woman stepped into the dim light.
She looked very thin, the huge glasses oversized her eyes probably five times and her body was covered by a lot of different cloth pieces.
"Have a seat, children", the woman said as she pointed to the armchairs and seat pads.
Annabeth and the others immediately started searching for a seat. Finally she sat down with Harry and Ron at one of the round wooden tables.
"My name is Professor Trelawney and in this room, you shall explore the bible art of Divination. In this room you shall discover if you possess the Sight", the women told them as she numbed against one of the tables, making some of the students chuckle.
Annabeth really had to keep herself from laughing as the teacher put her arms up in the air and said something about how they will see into the future together.
"Please take the cup of the person sitting on your opposite you. What do you see?"
Ron, Harry and Annabeth exchanged their cups and tried to recognize something.
"First you must look beyond!", the women said to Seamus as Hermione whispered. "What a load of rubbish!"
Ron looked at her shocked. "Where do you come from?"
"Me? I've been here all this time", the girl answered him as she stuffed something into her rope. Annabeth narrowed her eyes at her as she leaned onto the table.
"You boy!", Professor Trelawney suddenly called to Neville, who almost fell from his seat pad as a result. "Is your Grandmother quiet well?"
"I think so", Neville stuttered out as he looked at the women with big eyes.
"I wouldn't be so sure about that. Give me that cup", the professor told him Neville swallowed hard as the professor continued speaking.
"Border your minds!"
She kept walking and reached Annabeth's table. "Oh boy, your aura is pulsing, dear. Are you in the beyond?", she asked Ron enthusiastic.
"I think you are!"
Ron nodded quickly as he looked at the women with wide eyes, "Sure."
"Look at the cup. Tell me what you see!", the Professor told him as she pointed at the cup in his hands.
"Yeah", Ron looked at the cup for a moment. "Harry's got sort of a wonky cross. That's trials and suffering. And that there could be the sun and that's happiness. So- you're gonna suffer, bit you're gonna be happy about it."
The three friends looked at him amused, Divination was obviously not Ronald's best subject.
"Give me the cup", Professor Trelawney said as she grabbed the cup from his hands. But as soon as she looked into it the woman let out a scream and gave him the cup back. "Oh my dear boy- My dear- you have the Grim."
Ron suddenly grabbed Annabeth's cup out of Harry's hand and compared them with each other. "Annabeth you got him as well!", the boy exclaimed as he looked at them shocked.
"Thank you Ronald!", was all Annabeth hissed at him before she snatched her cup back.
"The Grin? What's the Grin?", someone asked from across the room. "Not the Grin you idiot. The Grim"
"Taking form of a giant spectral dog. It's among the darkest omens in our world. It's an omen- of death", one of their classmates read out loud.
Lavender Brown clapped her hands over her mouth in disbelief. Many gasps could be heard and all eyes were on Harry and Annabeth while the two tried not to look anyone in the eyes.
After that the lesson was quiet awkward.
Two hours later Annabeth sat in the Charms classroom on one of the benches that stood in the middle of the room. Her chin placed in the palm of her hand as she stared at the book that laid infront of her.
She could hear the footsteps of the last couple of students that had just entered the room while she let her gaze wander over the many heads.
Hermione sat right behind her, her gaze straight forward. Ron and Harry sat a bit away from them by Semus and Dean near the last rows.
The brunette huffed as she turned in her seat and positioned herself straight towards the front were Professor McGonagall were seated. Her eyelids were heavy and the teenager had real problems to hold them open as she tried to hold herself back from yawning.
The first two lessons that day had really drained her, and at this point only the thought of lunch held her awake.
The theme of this Charms lesson was actually pretty interisting, so Annabeth tried to make as much notes as possible to Animagi but she just couldn't concentrate.
Her gaze wandered off towards the window. "Miss Potter?", a voice suddenly interrupted Annabeth's daydream.
The brunette girl immediatley fliched as her head shot up to Professor Mcgonagall, who stood right infront of her.
"Miss Potter, did you even listen to what I just said?", the teacher questioned the brunette, who had big eyes as she stared up at her.
"Ye- yes, of course Professor", she stuttered slowly before her gaze wandered off to Harry and Ron, who both shrugged at her.
The Professor sighed as she eyed her students frustrated, "What's going on with you today?"
Suddenly Hermione raised her hand, "Please Professor, we just had our first lessons Divination and we predicted the future from tea leaves."
The Professor sighed as she looked back at her students, "Ohh, of course. And who of you will die this year?"
The students looked pretty irretated as the all exchanged questionly looks. Annabeth gluped quietly before she slowly raised her hand together with Harry.
The Professor smiled at them warmly, "Well, than you should know, Mr and Ms Potter that, Sibyll Trelawney, since she works here in this school predicts year after year that a student will die. Nobody died so far. To see Omens of death is her way to welcome a new class."
The woman waved her hands as she continued with a serious face expression, "You two seem to be just fine, so please don't take it the wrong way if I give you Homework despite that. If you two die you don't have to sent them in, I promise."
A couple of chuckles could be heard and Professor Mcgonagell quickly continued with her lesson after the short conversation.
Annabeth had felt how the tension fell off of her and how she could concentrate better on the things her Professor said.
THE RAIN FROM the previous day had cleared. The sky was clear and the damp grass under their feet was springy when they went to their first hour of Care of magical creatures.
Annabeth was looking forward to seeing Hagrid and being tutored by him, but when she saw the green Slytherin ties she wanted to turn around right away.
The brunette knew full well that Malfoy and Parkinson were not going to shut their stupid mouths.
"You don't think that Grim thing's got anything to do with Sirius Black? Do you?" Ron questioned them as they walked down the green hill. "Oh, honestly Ron. If you ask me, Divination's a woolly discipline. Now Ancient Runes, that's a fascinating subject!", Hermione started to rammbel as she walked behind them, her roap touching the wet grass.
"Acient Runes? Exactly how many classes are you taking this term?" Ron questioned the girl disbelieving as he walked at the front. "A fair few"
Ron suddenly stopped in his trail, "Hang on. That's impossible! Ancient runes is in the same time as Divination. You have to be in two classes at once", the ginger haired boy exclaimed as Hermione and Annabeth passed him.
"Don't be silly. How could anyone be in two classes at once?" the girl asked him defensive. She continued to walk besides Annabeth as she started to imitate Professor Trelawney. "Broaden your minds!", she exclaimed as she looked over at Annabeth.
"Use your inner eye to see the future!", Annabeth exclaimed laughing as they continued their way down the hill.
As they finally arrived by Hagrids house the giant was already awaiting his class. Annabeth falshed him a friendly smile as she grabbed onto her Care of Magical creaturs book.
Hermione, Harry and Ron quickly joined her before the group of lions and snake fallowed after Hagrid. After some time the giant stopped walking and turned towards the group as he streched his arms out.
"Right you lot. Less chattering. Form a group over there. And open your books to page 49", he instructed them as they walked a bit further through the wood.
Annabeth eyed her book carefully as she feared to get bit by it as soon as she opened it.
"And exactly how do we do that?!", the voice of Draco Malfoy spoke up from behind Annabeth.
"Just stroke the spine, of course", Hagrid told the boy like it was total obvious. Annabeth gazed over her shoulder as she watched Draco, who eyed the brown book while carefully stroking over the spine. Nothing happened.
Annabeth chuckled lightly to herself as she turned around and followed after Harry and Hermione.
"I think they're funny", Hermione said as she placed her book onto a big stone. Annabeth frowned and just wanted to disagree with her friends, but Malfoy interrupted her.
"Oh, yeah. Terribly funny! Really witty", he made a disgusted face before he continued.
"God, this place has gone to the dogs! Wait until my father hears about Dumbledore's got this oaf teaching classes!", the blond boy snarled as a group of Slytherins pawed around him and laughed loudly.
The two houses glared at each other and Annabeth could practically feel the air crackling.
"Shut up, Malfoy!", was all what Harry said as he approched the boy confident. The Slytherins howled loudly and laughed arrogantly as they eyed him smirk's on their faces.
Draco handed Goyle his bag casually. The boy quickly grabbed it in surprise while the blond boy continued to smirk as he walked towards Harry.
They stood in the middle of the circle and eyed each other for a moment, but Draco suddenly looked past the brunette boy.
His bright blue eyes widened in shock before he pointed at the air screaming, "Dementor, Dementor!"
Everyone turned around hectically and searched for the Dementor, everyone except for Annabeth, she knew exactly that this was some kind of his stupid jokes.
The brunette stood there, her arms crossed over her chest while Malfoy walked back to his friends.
They all yanked their hoods up over their heads and started laughing evily as they wiggled their fingers and made host sounds at Harry.
Annabeth quickly stepped forward and grabbed Harry by the arm. She rolled her eyes at Malfoy before she slowly followed Harry back to the front.
Exactly at that moment, Hagrid came back, behind him a big creature that had the body, the hind legs and the tail of a horse but the front legs, wings and head resembled an eagle.
"Isn't he beautiful? Say hello to Buckbeak", the man told them as he gave the creature a pice of meat.
"Hagrid, exactly what is that?", Ron asked the man from besides Annabeth, a fearful look on his face.
"That Ron, is a Hippogriff. First thing you wanna know is they're very proud creatures. Very easily offended. You do not want to insult a Hippogriff! It may just be the last thing you ever do."
He clapped his hands together, drawing their attention back towards him, the students all shallowed deeply while their eyes traveled back to the animal, "Now, who'd like to come and say hello?"
Annabeth gluped and impending took a step back as the rest of the class, but Harry still looked at the creature faszinated.
"Well done Harry. Well done", Hagrid said as he turned to thearge group again.
Harry looked confused to both of his sides and then back to his sister who just smiled at him apologizing. Ron slowly took a step forward and pushed Harry a bit forward so the boy would finally join Hagrid.
"You have to let him make the first move. It's only polite. So step up, give him a nice bow", Hargid instructed the young student, who looked pretty nervous.
"Then you wait and see if he bows back. If he does, you can go and touch him. If not- Well, we'll get to that later."
Harry approched the grey creature carefully, "Just make a bow. Nice and low", Hagrid instructed him loudly. Harry didn't moved his gaze as he slowly bowed down, for a while it looked as if Buckbeak wouldn't move, but then he bowed as well.
"Well done Harry. Well done!" He quickly fed the Hippogriff and Buckbean rejoiced as he eat his food.
"You can go and pat him now, don't be shy", Hagrid told him smiling. Annabeth stepped from one foot to the other as she nervously bit onto her lower lip.
But then her attention was drawn towards the students behind her as Malfoy and his friends pushed away some other students to get a better few at Harry.
"Nice and slow Harry, let him come to you", the animal eyed Harry carefully before he slowly took a few steps towards the teenage boy.
"Slowly, slowly, slowly. That's it!", Hagrid repeated quietly as he watched the two.
After a small moment the Hippogriff pressed his beak against Harry's palm, the boy smiled widely and Hagrid clapped his hands together. "Yes! Well done! Well done, Harry! Well done!"
Harry gazed over his shoulder at the group of students, who all clapped impressed. A smile appeared on Annabeths face as she clapped her hands enthusiastic. A blond Gryffindor girl leaned over to her as she whispered, "Do you think he gets to fly?"
Annabeth looked at the blond girl who seemed pretty impressed as she stared at Harry, "I don't know." She shrugged with her shoulders as her eyes landed back on her twin. "I think he may let you ride now", Hagrid suddenly spoke up again as he walked over to Harry.
The boy frowned as his head snapped towards the giant, "What?" But he didn't really had time to say something else as Hagrid grabbed him and placed him onto Buckbeaks back.
"Hey, hey, hey!" The giant looked at him smiling, "Put you over here, just behind the wing joint. Don't pull out any of his feathers, because he won't thank you for that."
The giant clapped the Hippogriff onto the behind, making him rear up as he let out a screech. The animal started running fastly across the free area before it jumped up and started flying with Harry still on his back.
The students spun around and run towards the stone fence as they watched the two fly away with big eyes.
"Wow", was all Annabeth let out as she and Hermione exchanged a stunned look. After some time Buckbean landed on the large area infront of the students.
"Well done, Harry and well done Buckbean", Hagrid exclaimed happyly as Dean Thomas clapped his hands and shouted, "That was wicked Harry!"
Annabeth cupped her mouth as she let out a excited shout, "Yeah, Woohoo!" In that moment Draco stood up a spiteful look on his face, "Oh, please!"
Hagrid helped Hagrid down from Buckbeak before he leaned down and whispered something to the boy, sho smiled widely at him. In that exact moment Malfoy pushed two of the Slytherin's aside and dashed towards the Hippogriff.
As the blond boy passed Annabeth the brunette tried to grabb his roap, "Malfoy don't!" Bit the boy was quick and she couldn't grab onto his back.
"You're not dangerous at all, are you, you great ugly brute!", the blond boy spatted at the animal who eyed him as it nervously took a few steps back.
"Malfoy, no-!" But the boy continued to approach the Hippogriff as the animal suddenly reared up and scratched his arm.
The Slytherin boy fell to the ground and cluncht onto his arm as he shouted, "It's killed me! It's killed me!"
The Hippogriff reared up again making everyone run away as Hagrid quickly calmed the animal down before he turned back to Malfoy.
"Calm down, it's just a scratch!"
Annabeth immediately approached the two as she planted heavily, "Hangrid! He has to be taken to the hospital!"
Hagrid immediately nodded his head as Annabeth haze fell down onto the boy who rolled from one side into the other and still whimpered in pain.
"I'm the teacher. I'll do it", Hagrid told them as he carefully lifted Malfoy into the air. "Annabeth, could you please inform Madam Pomfrey about what happened?", the giant questioned the brunette girl who hesitantly nodded her head at him.
The two quickly made their way away from the class, who still looked scared as Malfoy shouted, still laying in Hagrids arm whimpering, "You're gonna regret this! You and you're bloody chicken!"
Annabeth scoffed annoyed and rolled with her brown eyes as Hagrid shouted quickly over his shoulder, "Class dismissed!"
