It shouldn't have been a big deal to wake up and get dressed to go to a coffee shop with your best friend.
But of course, Namjoon's best friend was also his crush— No, it was the guy he liked. Not a simple crush where you stare from afar. It was a person he liked and would admire up front, not in secret.
Or it seemed that way to him at least. He did get embarrassed if Seokjin caught him staring, he'd look away, bashful and staring off into space. His whole face would turn a crimson red and his ears turned a bubble gum pink.
But the duality that Kim Namjoon held within allowed him to do more than just stare. He'd say things up front and talk to Seokjin about his feelings like he had done before with no embarrassment or worry in his tone. He was confident while leaving love notes in Seokjin's windshield wipers on Valentine's Day or Christmas or even Easter. Not as a secret admirer, but as Kim Namjoon.
Today was not one of those confident days.
Would he look fine with just a striped shirt and some jeans? Would a beanie make it better? Should he try on make up? Taehyung always looked good with it, maybe he needed it himself.
Ding!
Namjoon, still shirtless from trying on so many shirts, grabbed his phone, expecting some random notification but he wasn't one to ignore his notifications.
Jinnie 💖
Yah where are you? Thought we were meeting at 7?
Namjoon panicked. He didn't remember agreeing on 7. He rummaged through his drawers, pulling out a pair of socks and putting on the striped shirt he had rejected before and grabbing his essentials as he ran out the door.
Compared to Yoongi's neat freak house, you'd think Namjoon's would be the same. Clean, organized, maybe more lit up than Yoongi's. But it wasn't, quite the opposite really. No, it wasn't chaos, but it wasn't as organized as Yoongi's, not even close to being as Jimin's. He wasn't forgetful, but he'd get distracted a lot. So the house was cleaned a little more later than expected. He was rather clumsy and would knock things over or trip over things, moving them out of place.
But none of the houses compared to Seokjin's. It was bigger yet had less things to clean and use. As weird as it was, Seokjin saw himself as a minimalist. A minimalist doesn't own many things on purpose, to safe up space or to better use their money.
So when Namjoon opened the door, letting himself in since Seokjin made it a thing that if his friends were picking him up then the doors would be left open, it wasn't as surprising to see so little when he first walked in the house.
"Gosh, you took so long, I got bored and started cleaning." Seokjin came out the kitchen holding a box. "Come here and help Joonie."
Namjoon grabbed the box from his hands as the older grabbed another box. The brunette looked inside the box. "Why are so many of your cooking stuff here?"
Seokjin started to walk out the door, Namjoon following. "I don't use many of these that much and some I just don't use at all so I'm getting rid of them."
He put down the box and opened his car, placing the box inside and doing the same with Namjoon's box, who never understood why he didn't just throw out used stuff. "Are we going then?"
Seokjin shook his head. "I need your opinion on how a sweatshirt looks on me." He then looked Namjoon up and down. "Hey, you aren't wearing something that makes you look like a dad for once."
Namjoon smiled to himself as he followed the older inside. He closed the door behind him and watched as the older walk in his room. It always amazed him how much work Seokjin put into the house even when there was barely anything to put work into. The only thing that wasn't minimalist in the house was his kitchen, pink and blue decorations held up on the walls, mostly reminding him of cup measurements and recipes taped on the wall.
The boy came out and held up one of the sweaters in his hand. "This blue one or," He held up the other, "this grey one?"
Namjoon smiled, "You look good in anything."
Seokjin rolled his eyes. "I know that, but which one looks best?"
"We're just going to the coffee shop."
"Well you are but I'm meeting someone afterwards."
Namjoon swallowed down his pride. "The grey one."
Seokjin smiled folding the blue one on the chair. He put on his grey sweatshirt and motioned for the door. "Let's get some coffee."
The youngest tried his best not to wonder who Seokjin planned on meeting. Was it Hoseok maybe? But then why wouldn't he just say Hoseok? Were they maybe a thing and he was trying to hide it from Namjoon to not hurt his feelings?
"I wish you could come with me to where I'm going afterwards." Seokjin pouted as they buckled in the other's car.
Namjoon raised his eyebrow in confusion as he started up the car. He had already made a whole scenario where he wasn't wanted... "How come?"
"You'd love to hear the stories of the halmeonis~"
"From... grandmas?"
Seokjin smiled, "Yeah! Didn't I tell you guys? I've been going and hanging at the Senior Residence in Suwon. You know, the only good one?"
Namjoon let out a breath he didn't know he'd be holding in. "That's awesome. Is that where you are taking the cooking supplies you don't use anymore?"
"Yup! I get the best recipes from them too! I know how much you love talking politics and world issues, you'd love Halmeoni Wong." He laughed to himself. "She loves telling stories from when she lived in China."
The brunette hated how he doubted Seokjin's intentions. He'd tell him if he started dating someone... right?
