"Try again!"
Raising your hands facing your target, you voiced an enchantment and allowed your magic to do the work. A ball of fire grew between your hands and with a thrust you sent the ball flying into the training dummy. The lump of hay burned until it became a pile of ashes. Your success in using that spell earned you applause from your mentors.
It took a lot of effort to track the progress of your magic. Switching between elements gave you a clear understanding of your strengths and weaknesses. One weakness included control, one wrong move will send someone flying or worse. Your wish to get strong had been set for many days and nights while Bakugou tended to his matters outside the kingdom. As the days grew longer, Ochaco handed you more spells to practise with until you perfected its incantations. It's a gruelling process that has your bones aching due to exhaustion but makes you more powerful in the end. Ochaco's lessons taught you a whole lot more about yourself and not long, you'd feel your body changing.
As your body slowly became that of a warrior's body fit for battle, you'd feel the toll of your bloodline take its effects. A burning sensation on your right shoulder, not even water would calm the searing skin. It made movement very uncomfortable as you trained. One busy afternoon, Ochaco and Izuku would check on it. Moving your sleeve over your shoulder, you listen in on the pair looming over by your side.
"Y/n! you have your grandmother's elementalist mark?!" Izuku announced.
"A what?" You'd asked, rolling your shoulder. Stepping away, Izuku showed you a quick sketch he did in his journal. Taking the book into your hands, your fingers skimmed over Izuku's drawing. The story of your grandmother's elementalist mark is short and simple. She gained her mark when she came of age and her magic was at its peak as did your ancestors before her. The mark is described as four coloured diamonds forming a big one.
"This is great, princess! your mark proves that your magic is getting stronger," Ochaco beams happily. You returned Izuku's journal, patting your hands together.
"Do I really need a mark on my shoulder to tell me I'm powerful?" You asked, rolling your sleeve back over your shoulder. You sit down on the ground and pat the grass next to you for Izuku.
"Technically no, you were powerful from the beginning y/n but this mark makes you an elementalist!" Izuku explains. You chortled, tapping his forehead a couple of times.
"I was elementalist ever since I met you Izuku," You tell him in a teasing voice, reminding him of the bush incident. Izuku laughs alongside you as you ruffled his hair and turned to Ochaco you asked. "How long do I have to wait until it fully appears on my skin?"
Ochaco taps her chin. "If I had to guess um a few days maybe less,"
"Then should we continue our training after a little break," You offered, smiling to the pair to which they nod their heads repeatedly. For a while, you three sit there marvelling at the sight of dragons passing by the palace.
"Man if only we had a little information on your mark then we'd be able to pass it on to the great archives," Ochaco groans, laying back on the grass.
"The great archives?" You repeat, an eyebrow raised in confusion.
"Ancient libraries holding all of the world's knowledge on magic, magical beings and temples. Takoba's archive chamber has one of the biggest knowledge keepers in the world," Izuku informs you without hesitation.
"Oh, my kingdom doesn't have one of those so this is the first time I've heard of it and my elementalist mark," You confessed, rubbing your shoulder. "It seems that having a strong bloodline holds many secrets,"
"Maybe your mother told your father something before her passing," Said Izuku, making you jump.
"That reminds me, I believe I have a memory of mother talking about something-" Taking your necklace into your hands, you sat the pendant in your hand, shaking it to awaken the magic. The jewel wrapped with your parent's wedding rings shone until a projection appears in front of you.
"You have a memory stone! A stone that can play the user's memories so long as it's touching the user's skin! Those are very rare in takoba!" Ochaco exclaims, shuffling in a little closer to examine your necklace.
"It was a gift from my father. Given to me on the day of my wedding. He said it was to help me remember the moments we had together with mother and to make more in the future," You told Ochaco showing her your parent's rings. "The gold rings holding the stone were made with my parent's wedding bands,"
"That's so sweet," Ochaco cooed.
"Y/n! Be careful my darling or you'll hurt yourself!"
The three of you peered up to see an image of your mother kneeling. The image was in the first perspective, your perspective. Izuku frowned out of grief and placed his hand on your shoulder. You rest your own over his and squeeze it lightly for comfort.
"I miss her," Said Izuku quietly.
"Me too," You smiled.
"I thought I told you no fire magic! You're not ready for that yet" Your mother scolds you, holding her hips angrily. The image shakes because you jolt, startled by her voice. Your mother has your wrist in her hand just to show you the burn mark on your knuckle. "See you have a burn on your hand,"
"I'm sorry mother. I just want to use it so I can be more powerful," Your kid self admits and apologises. This makes your mother sigh as to calm herself and pulls you in for a hug.
"I'm sorry for yelling too. Fire magic is one of the hardest elements to master and using a power you don't understand is dangerous. You can hurt yourself and others if you're not careful," Your mother spoke, feeling her fingers combing through your hair. Then you feel her poking your right shoulder. "One day you'll feel the toll of our family on your shoulders. It will mark you for life and on that day you'll understand the reach of your abilities. You understand?"
"Yes Mother," The image moves up and down, meaning you were nodding your head. The woman smiles, standing up with a hand extending for you to take.
"Good. Now let's go get your wound cleaned up or it will get infected and fall right off the bone," Your mother joked making you yell at her.
"How old were you in that memory your highness?" Asked Ochaco, once the projection disappeared like smoke.
"Eight. This memory was a few months before her sickness started to take its toll on her body," You answer, dropping your necklace. Izuku pats your shoulder. You assured him, bumping your head with his gently. "I'm alright Zuku,"
"From that memory, she must have been an incredible woman," Ochaco claims, sitting her hand on your other shoulder.
"She was and so much more," Izuku spoke for you, earning another heartwarming smile. Sadly, your little moment with two was ruined fairly quickly.
"Well ain't this a touching sight, huh? Two nerds and a princess," Hovering over the trio is Bakugou, using his wings. With most of his face and chest covered in ash and blood, the man sets down on the ground to wipe his hands on his pants.
"You're back early, Bakugou," You called out, picking yourself off the ground.
"There weren't that many raiders to kill and challenged Kirishima to a race," Bakugou shook his wings before they shrunk and hid under his shoulder blades. Only his tail stuck out and he wrapped it around your waist to pull you in. "You missed me didn't you?"
"N-no and what are you doing?" You stammered, looking away.
Bakugou tilts his head to the side when you avoided his gaze. "Greeting you or am I not allowed,"
"No I mean yes you can but-" You stated, feeling your face heating up from the closeness. "Izuku and Ochaco are looking at us,"
"Let them look," Bakugou grins before leaning down to kiss your lips. You gasped into the kiss whilst the cheeky dragon king caught a glimpse of Izuku and Ochaco's shocked expressions. He smirked against your lips, pulling you in closer and closer. Once he pulled away, you would hold a similar expression to that of your friends. As for Bakugou, he pats your cheek and moves his tail away. "I'll see you later after my bath unless you want to join me,"
"Stop it-" You whined, punching him on the shoulder.
