Covered in furred blankets, you slept soundly under the watchful eyes of Bakugou. He made sure that no one entered the room as you slept, thus giving him more time to admire you. He sat on the empty side of your bed, where he wanted to be, beside you. Bakugou chose to respect your boundaries for the time being. Instead, he stuck to just sitting there and holding your hand if he saw you reaching over to his side. Hours would pass, and he's still there. It shows that he's grateful to have you in his life.
His ear twitched, hearing his mother's voice calling out for him outside. Bakugou would finally leave your side and walked over to the balcony overlooking the garden. He closed thin drapes behind and looked down. Below him, Mitsuki is alone carrying the cloak Bakugou left behind after you healed his wing. She searches for him, eyes scanning the bushes as if she's reliving the past, hunting down her boy, playing hide and seek.
Mitsuki didn't see Bakugou until she witnessed him flying down from your window. He landed about an arm's length away and hid his wings beneath his shoulder blades. The woman is shocked to an extent, but not so much as to panic. Still cradling the cloak against her chest, she is reminded of her mistakes, tidies her posture and clears her throat. "Your wings. H-how are they-"
"Y/n. She used a dragon stone." He answered quickly, making the woman's lips part slightly. Then Mitsuki hums, pinching the bridge of her nose.
"Of course, it was dragon stone! The cure was here this entire time, I'm such a fool," Mitsuki curses at herself internally. She'll definitely have to repent to whatever god is watching over her.
"A woman of many talents. I see why you stuck around her all this time," Mitsuki remarks, beckoning Bakugou to follow her for a stroll in her garden. "Y/n has been nothing but kind ever since she arrived here, Katsuki. But part of me wondered why she was here and not with her own people. Then I realized that King Enji of the todoroki kingdom had arranged a marriage between y/n and his youngest son, Prince Shouto."
Hearing about Todoroki and his family made Bakugou's skin crawl. His encounter with Hawks gave Bakugou a taste of Enji's desperation for a broodmare gifted to his children. A broodmare. Enji's thirst for power leads Bakugou to loathe the man and his family over a thousand folds. If he could he would let his dragon legion tear Enji apart bit by bit until he's nothing but a pile of ashes.
"I know you do things for a reason, Katsuki. I know that better than anyone," Mitsuki continues. With that, Mitsuki returns the cloak and knits her hands together. "Don't abandon this in the garden ever again, or I'm keeping it,"
"Fine..." Bakugou scoffed, taking his cloak back in his arms. He wiped the grass off the fur, and he gripped the cloth tight in his fists, then wrapped it around his shoulders and slipped his arms into the straps.
"Oi old man—give me your cloak!" His younger self would order his father around whilst he tugged on the ends of his cloak. The long mantle had brought solace to him although it frightens poor Masaru when Bakugou's demands for it are ignored.
"A-alright, alright, Katsuki," The man would say back, tugging it off his back and draping it over Bakugou's head.
"I owe you an apology, Katsuki. I didn't give you time to mourn for your father, and I took your wings," Mitsuki apologized, taking over for Bakugou. The woman adjusted the cape over Bakugous shoulders as she did for her late husband. For a moment, she remembers those little moments and withers. "I'm so sorry, Katsuki."
"You don't owe me a goddamn thing. If anyone has to apologize, it's me. I was the one who killed all those people, not you or Kirishima. If I was there with my old man, maybe I could've saved him," Not only did Bakugou accept her apology, but he also gave her one of his own. He blamed himself for letting his anger get the best of him. Looking away, Bakugou forms a frown.
"You were a boy, Katsuki. A child. I should've kept a closer eye on you instead of putting you on the throne like a fool. I put too much on your shoulders while I grieved on my own, and i-" Mitsuki stops herself from continuing. It's then she firmly grabbed his jaw and moved his gaze onto hers. "-I regret how I reacted and the pain I caused. I should've been there for you and comforted you,"
"I don't wanna talk about this anymore," Bakugou cuts her off, earning a sigh.
"Very well," With a nod of her head, Mitsuki pulls him in by the back of his head. "C'mere,"
"Ma—" He groaned in annoyance, but it didn't stop Mitsuki from kissing his forehead. Mitsuki made sure it was long enough to annoy him, and it did. She pulled away, patting his left cheek.
"You're a good man, Katsuki. These past four years really did a number on you and you brought a beautiful girl home for me to meet," She teased, squishing Bakugou's cheeks together. Bakugou's cheeks flushed a light shade of pink. "And you can't deny it either 'cause I'm a halfling too. I can hear your heart beating and feel your temperature rising,"
"You gotta stop doing that. Y/n has only been here for a month, and you want me to get married. You never change-" He said, crossing his arms.
"I'm just saying that girl could be my future daughter in law if my so-called son wasn't so dense and gave in to his senses." Mitsuki continued, walking away after she saw Tsuyu and Toru. She glanced over her shoulder, holding a cheeky. "-I can smell her scent all over you, Katsuki. There's no need to hide,"
"I just said stop doing that, you old hag!" He would yell at her back. Mitsuki didn't listen when she grabbed the two girls by the hand, leaving Bakugou to smell himself. She was right. Bakugou could pick up your scent on his skin.
"S-shit," He said to himself, so Bakugou decided to ignore his mother and fly off. He flew back onto your balcony, hoping you were still asleep. Instead, he moves the drapes to see you seated on the bed. You haven't noticed him at all while you held your necklace in your palm. The red jewel on your necklace shone revealing a memory. For a moment it made your smile until it fades aways.
"Was the little princess having a nightmare?"
Turning your head, you breathed in through your nose. "I haven't had one in a while...I almost forgot the feeling,"
"And lemme guess your mother?" He would ask, walking back to the empty space beside you. You nod your head repeatedly. "How did she die?"
"Sickness. She had it since I was a child...It's why I couldn't have a little brother." You answered. Bakugou hums, lying down on his back. Your body swayed from the added weight, but it didn't bother you. You leaned against the headboard and sat a hand by your side. The other hand is combing through your hair, brushing the standing strays down. Looking down at Bakugou, his eyes are closed, and his hands are behind his head. "I have a question."
"Hm,"
"How did you forget about your father's death?" You asked. Already, he peeps an eye open to look into your eyes.
Closing it again, he eases himself onto your pillows. "I didn't forget. You can't forget that shit, Y/n. Growing through that shit as a kid makes it a lot worse."
"I know that, but it's so hard to forget-" You confessed, feeling your emotions building up. "I miss her so much,"
Bakugou can understand your pain. He sees you trying to hold back your tears, and out of nowhere, he rests his hand on top of your head. That same hand pulls you down, resting your head on his shoulder. His other hand wraps around your back so you falls ontop of his chest. You're taken back by the sudden action. Bakugou's other hand rubbed your arm. Looking up at him, you're suddenly pulled in closer, and he says. "I don't know what I'm doing, but you can let it out if you like. I got you,"
Your heart fluttered, tears brimming in your eyes. You hid your face in the fur of his cloak, finally letting out the cries of grief. After that, Bakugou allowed you to cry in his hold. You quietly cried yourself to sleep from the warmth shared between you both. The man peered down at you, planting a kiss on your head, then tightened his embrace on you. Bakugou drifted off to sleep not long after covering you both in the blankets and ended the night on another good note.
