With the help of Izuku, you escaped the castle all on your own. He understood your motives as you did not agree to the terms of your arranged marriage. He knew you wouldn't be happy, and under your order, you forbid him from accompanying you, saying it would only cause him more trouble. Today was your wedding day, but you wouldn't be around to experience it, only the little moment you shared with your father where he gave you a small charm necklace as his gift.
You packed enough clothes, making you out to be a commoner. Izuku took it upon himself to get you these clothes. Along with your clothes is a new cloak to keep your face hidden and body warm. Lastly, you took your mother's dagger, seeing as she was a warrior before you were born.
As much as you hate betraying your own father, that didn't stop you from walking out the back door adorned in a cloak, grinning ear to ear. The wedding practically had everyone's attention, including the guards fending the borders. You slipped past the gates without a care in the world and ran, feeling your charm necklace drumming on your collarbone.
"Right, so where should I go now that I'm out here?" You questioned yourself once you've made it pretty far from the gates. A map Izuku had given you marked the mountains stretching outside the borders and several lakes, telling you that part was unclaimed, forbidden because of the creatures lurking in the dark. Sighing, you traced the path leading to an upcoming village.
"So many places to go," you said, beaming and jittering out of excitement. Sitting down on a deformed tree trunk twisted like a swirl, you scanned the map kicking the back of your legs against its crumbling bark. The map showed all the kingdoms. The closet was the todoroki kingdom, one you already knew all too well and several others you scarcely recall all.
The dragon kingdom, the iron city, Takoba and All might's temple. Those were the ones Izuku told you about and had visited a few times with his mother living in Musutafu. The same places he helped a few friends defeat a horde of demons trying to destroy All might's temple.
You took his stories to heart, ordering him time and time again to tell you again and again. This makes a smile appear on your face. "Musutafu it is then!"
Looking down at your map, you gasped. "It's not far either,"
Bouncing off the tree trunk, you tucked the map away, walking down the path. Stopping after a step, you look over your shoulder, taking one final look at your kingdom still in your sights despite the distances apart. You took a mental image of it in your head, waving a hand unconsciously in the air as if you were saying goodbye to an actual person. The sky above you began to darken from the grey clouds setting in above the treelines.
Meanwhile, everyone whispered among themselves at the altar, seeing as the large doors that opened revealed no one behind them. You were nowhere to be seen at all.
"Sorry for the intrusion, Prince Shouto, but the princess wanted me to give you this," Izuku whispers an apology giving the prince an apologetic bow of his head. Shouto didn't seem all that shocked, especially when he felt something thin between his fingers. Izuku had slipped a letter into the prince's hand without anyone noticing. Prince Shouto quickly hides the letter in his jacket pocket and leaves the hall alone.
"I need a minute," He tells his own personal knight, Momo Yaoyorozu, to leave him be. Everyone witnessed the young prince close the doors behind him with a bang.
"What the hell is this!"
His father, however, was raging in his seat. Accompanied by his eldest son and daughter, the flaming king confronts your father. "This is an act of war f/n! You tricked us!"
"There was no trick, Enji! Just give us some time, and we'll find Y/n!" Your father pleads in an attempt to fan Enji's flames. Shouto rips the royal crest seal off the envelope outside the grand hall and reads the letter inside internally.
It reads.
Prince Shouto
I'm sorry for leaving you on the alter. I didn't mean to hurt you in any way, shape or form. I believe you're a great man who would do anything for his kingdom, but I also think you're not happy. You're just like me. You disagree with the arranged marriage and the rivalry between our kingdoms. I wonder if you would do the same if our roles were reversed. I hope we can meet again someday as friends.
Y/n
Clutching the letter, he understood your motives completely and adjusted his royal garments. He could hear his father sprouting out nonsense that made him sick to his stomach. Glancing down at the letter one last time, Shouto made a choice that would not only help you but himself.
Stomping back into the hall, Shouto shouts."Give her a year, father!"
Enji jolts, his youngest son's sudden outburst, drew everyone's attention to the prince glaring his father down. Shouto had your letter crumpled up in his hand. The scarred prince ignores his father's protests and bows before your father.
"I'm giving her a year. If she is not married within a year has passed...then there is nothing I can do," Shouto claimed to his father, taking everyone in the room into consideration. "I won't allow anyone from my kingdom to bring any harm to the princess! Anyone who does will answer to me and me alone! As of now, I'll be staying here until the year is up."
Your father was shocked by Shouto's declaration. He knew it might end badly depending on you. The fact that Shouto's willingness to help with your home brought a new perspective on Enji's behaviour and benevolence.
"I'm sorry for all the trouble, your Majesty," Shouto apologized, snapping your father out of thoughts.
Your father shook his head. "No, I'm the one who should apologize on my daughter's behalf."
"She had her reasons, your majesty," Shouto points out, then looks at your father, handing your letter over to him. "I'll keep my father at bay in the meantime,"
"I don't think there's anything you can do to drown your father's flames," F/n whispered, staring at the back of Enji, leaving the altar. The man's towering form, covered in flames, startled the citizens seated comfortably.
"I guess you're right, but I can't let my father have his way all the time," Shouto explained. "I'll be king someday. It's time I step up to the table,"
The downpour was heavy, making the road slippery beneath your feet. As you ran towards the mountains, you would tug your hood over your face preventing you from seeing what was before you. You would face it the hard way by running into a low branch and falling onto your back, dirtying your cloak with mud. Grasping your forehead, you rolled, wiping your face of the dirt.
"Ow," You grunt, picking yourself up off the mud and continuing in search of shelter. Shivering from head to toe, your clothes soaked, and your body exhausted.
"I need to find shelter," You told yourself, clinging on your hood for warmth. A lightning flash made you flinch, then a clash of thunder made you scream. The wind sounded horrible in your ears, sending a cold prick on your neck.
The thunder grew more numerous as you carried on picking up the pace. Stumbling on your footing, you fell forward on your knees into a body of water. Raising your head, you found yourself kneeling in a lake, then your eyes saw a cave hidden by the trees at the foot of the mountain. Smiling, you picked yourself up and hurried as quick as your feet could take you, unaware of what followed.
You didn't care if the cave was dirty so long as it kept you out of the rain and cold. When you reached the cave entrance, you stopped seeing into the dark cavern. The stench of mould, decaying animals and woodsmoke filled your nostrils. Muddy footprints, dead twigs and leaves trashed the floor along with a few drops of blood—someone is living here, and they're hurt.
"Hello-" You tripped on a wire, triggering a boar trap. The wire wraps around your ankle and lifts your body off the ground. Your back collided with the wall making you yelp. Quickly reaching for your knife hanging on your belt, you curled your body upwards, attempting to cut at the rope. However, your slippery hands couldn't grip the dagger, so it slipped and fell to the floor. "No-fuck,"
Your hands flopped, fingers chasing after the handle of the dagger. Every touch pushed the blade further away, hindering your hopes of escaping worthless. You cursed once again, although it seems a glint of steel missed your eyes. "Come on, stupid dagger-"
A clean swing of a sword brings you down, freeing you from the trap. Landing on your side, your head hits the stone floor, rendering your conscious dizzy. Suddenly, you felt something pressing against your back—a foot. "What's a princess doing in my cave, huh?"
Turning you on your back, a boot on your stomach pins you down, keeping you still. Held before your face was a sword, and its owner startled you. The stranger's features seemed familiar, especially his crimson red eyes. He was tall, lean and had spiky ash-blonde hair. Your eyes trailed down to inspect his attire. Clearly, he was foreign, seeing as he was only shirtless, wearing a long red fur cape, baggy pants, boots, and tribal jewellery that aren't from your land. He also bore a tattoo on his left shoulder and dragon scales under his eyes.
"Well, princess. What do you have to say for yourself?"
The room is spinning, and your vision becomes a blur. You couldn't answer a single one of his questions. You fell unconscious due to exhaustion and left the man's questions ignored.
